Strange speaker issue

Hi all,
I have a strange issue with one mobo for i9000 and I thought that maybe someone will be able to help with that. I have not been able to find any solution on the forum or anywhere else. The problem is that the speaker generally works - when I change the ringtone or notifications, the sound gets through it, however it does not play any sound when playing multimedia type of sound (so in games, or when changing multimedia volume in settings). When I connect headphones, the sound works ok for multimedia. Does anyone have an idea on what is going on with it? I have never seen such an issue, is there any way o fix it?

Try to change your rom if problem still there then it must be fault in speakers then go to service centre.

It confused me, that you write the speaker sounds normal ...
Are you using BigMEM or something which breaks some kernel-libs for multimedia???

Yeah, the sound gets through it when I select different ringtones, but not when playing multimedia. However when I connect headphones, all is ok.
Currently the phone was wiped clean and installed stock rom using Odin, so I assume if there even were modifications like those you mention, those should be all gone now.

Hmhh strange:
When you are using stock rom and the problem still exists it should be a hardware problem with the speaker maybe with some frequencies???
Because when you use your headphones erverything works okay, so the is produced by the kernel-drivers ...

check if you have any lint /dirt lodged in your headphone slot, try use a needle of tooth pick, when phone is powered off and battery removed.

I will, thanks. I did not realize this may be the issue, since all other sounds go through the speaker. But then if the sound for ringtones goes through speaker regardless of connected headphones, this may be the issue.

Ok so I have managed to trace the problem. It turned out that international version of i9000 has a different sensor/headphone connector than the SC-02B I have. I have ripped off the sensor/headphone module from original leftovers of the screen and connected it to the board and launched the phone. All sound works fine then, no issues whatsoever. Youtube works, ringtones work, even the light sensor works (it did not when I tested it on the international board). So this is it guys. Probably the same problem is with wifi - there are different board connectors and the antenna is not connected, hence low signal.

[Q] Headphone issue

I have an unrooted, locked, never been dropped HTC One.
The headphone socket has stopped working. I've gentley cleaned it out with a q-tip, given it a blast of compressed air etc but it's made no difference.
Is there anything I can check to see if I can get it working again?
Secnod point. The first time it didn't work was the day after I'd updated to 4.4.2. Fluke or connected?

Anyone got any ideas?

have you tried some other headphones?
does the sound come out of the speakers even if you have the headphones plugged in?
does the headphone symbol come up in the statusbar?

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like a hardware problem to me. What you tried was good, but I think you probably need to send it off for repair

Thanks for your help. Bluetooth route seems less hassle.

Since it happened day after upgrade, and you are locked/unrooted, why don't you boot into safe mode (not sure the steps, but Google HTC boot safe mode). Then plug headphones in, see if it works then.
Last resort, do a system reset before sending in also to see if that solves it. I hate to sound like typical HTC support, but give it a shot. Just seems to coincidental to me right after phone upgraded.

Full reset, and if that doesn't work, i'm afraid you are going to have to send it in

It's definitely hardware. If I push the jack to the right (while looking from the front) with the jack fully in it will work. That makes me wonder if there's something I could do from the top with a jewellers screwdriver? Any thoughts?

Ive tried a lot of roms , but in every rom my speakers and earphones don't work for music and also can hear phone calls only in the loudspeaker,please help......

Many people are having problem with their speakers and headphones..
Maybe its a hardware issue..
Best way to check if your in stock xperia/ stock based ROM is
Go to dialer
Dial

If its still not working go to the Sony centre (with your stock ROM in your phone and act stupid if you still have warranty [emoji12] [emoji12] [emoji12] [emoji12] [emoji12] )

It is not working in 'service' as well.
But strangely, when I plug in ear phones and open the FM Radio app and switch on the loudspeaker, I can hear sound. So, this is not a hardware issue.
Also, going to the service center is not an option.

It might be some sort of hardware issue! This is usually caused by dirt in the headphone jack making the phone think that headphones are plugged in all the time, can you change the ringer volume and see if the sound comes through the speaker?

Then, if I were to actually plug in earphones I should be able to hear something right? Not happening though. I just cleaned the headphone jack and it doesn't seem to work.

Not sure how it happen, Just buy from a guy in Craigslist and find out it have no sound.
No sound at all ( that mean when turn on no sound, using the phone no sound, call no sound - the call app freeze or foreclose when call), YouTube foreclose when I hit play, sound recorder foreclose when I hit record ( look like any apps touch to the sound thing will foreclose when run)

Second, if It got water damage why all the apps utilize sound fail? Maybe only one speaker or microphone fail when they get wet?
I ask the guy and he said the phone got like this because last update. hard to believe ppl on CL but I have seen some phone lost sound because update too.

One way is trying another Motherboard or its the speaker and Microphone damage, you can try changing the Speaker and Mic to see it that works or get another MB.

Did you do a full odin to stock? Like completely wipe everything

Did you test the phone before you bought it?

Have you tried using a Bluetooth or wired headphone? If the previous owner used a cheap wired headphone and the tip of the headphone broke inside of the jack. Software on the phone is going to redirect all audio and mic to the headset jack. With no headset present it would render the internal microphone and internal speakers useless

I did full Odin flash but no luck. But maybe have to supper wipe? Do you know anyway can completely wipe the phone and install new firmware?

The problem is the recorder app foreclose when I hit record. and any other app use sound like youtube will foreclose when I hit play too

There is no tip of headphone jack inside the phone, I tried with good headphone but no luck too.
All of the app use sound will foreclose when I hit play and sound recorder foreclose when I hit record

try downloading a mixer_paths.xml file it worked for me before,if you can't find the file for some reason i can e-mail it to you

I will try the "mixer_paths.xml" when I get home. I'm in business trip until middle of this month. Thank you guys for great help.

The phone turn out is hardware issue. There is a small corrosion on the board.
Anyone in here offer anything for it before I sell it on ebay?

How to force audio to play with front speaker?

As the title saids. The reason to do so is my phone "thinks" that an earphone is connected, but there's actually no earphone connected. Now all the audio are played with the "earphone that doesn't exist", that means the speaker won't play anything other than alarms.
I searched for solution, and found an app called "headset toggle" on Google Play. It allowed me to play music with the back speaker, but that's useless. What annoys me is that when I receive a phone call, the audio is also played with the "earphone that doesn't exist". I wonder if anyone knows how to force the audio in phone calls to play with front speaker.
Btw I'm using cm12.1, so I do have root. I've also tried flashing different roms, even stock rom to see if it's a software issue, unfortunately it's not.
Also I've found a "front speaker only mod" here but the download link is broken. If anyone have downloaded it before can you share a copy to me?

If i were you should buy earpiece jack i think. Mine was broken too and i live with that broken jack for 1month and ordered a new jack, repaired it and everything is working like charm. Still using it about 7 months and no problem.
Its so cheap on Aliexpress.

Thanks for the suggestion. But I wanted to see if there's any software that allows me to switch between earphone and speaker mode. The phone could still play sounds through earphone after I plug one in, but it thought I still have an earphone connected after I remove the earphone.
Didn't quite understand what's an "earpiece jack" btw. Did you replace the whole earpiece of the phone?

I suggest you because it's so easy to change the jack-port (whatever means lol).
