Sorry Mod, I couldnt see a Q&A Section ...
Hi Guys
Ive just bought an XL and it looks really great, however, I decided to look up reviews and not Im not so sure:
My XL is pre-owned but perfect condition, but no beats audio headphones in the box, and I have 48 hours too play with it or change my mind, they did have XE in stock as well, so i could change it.
Im running 403, with sense 236, software 2.31.401.2, and I read:
http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/htc-sensation-xl-1039226/review#articleContent
but they are running GB 235 on theirs.
- So has it been improved since 235,,
- did i make a mistake.

We as owners can tell you many things. But the truth is, that you must decide what to do and which one are you atracted to ( phone not woman ).
XE has better dev section for sure. Specifications you can read all arround the internet. When i bought mine i was gone for the XE actualy. But when i saw them together it was a hard choice man i gotta tell ya . But that is just a phone not a wife you are taking
Btw don't worry about the beatsaudio earset. It is overrated. Any Sennheiser or in my case Marshall earphones are far far ahead.
It is a tough choice but you got to make it.
Good luck
I have had both the XE & XL and i felt the XL was far smoother. Although if you want to use your phone for gaming, i would go with the XE.

Thanks to you both for great replies and the nice humour.. hehe.
Like both of you, I actually did try the XE in the store and to be honest, I thought it was quite laggy in the Menu screen and apps, but a factory and Dalvik cache reset might of cleared that, but it was the screen that sold me.. lovely on the XL but dull and lifeless on the XE. I also researched a bit on XE vs XL and the Videos and Tests arent that different, maybe 1 or 2 seconds speed differences.
After reading around and what you guys have said, Ive decided to keep the XL, Its also quite stylish .
cheers guys

Only thing it is holding me back because it isn't popular phone so I might don't have much of support or any help for rooting, hardware issue or anything like that. I could just save $150 and go for HTC Desire, but I like 8mpx, front camera and the screen on HTC Incredible S. I like HTC Desire because it is quite popular and it has a lot of support, but Incredible S sounds and look much cooler.
Also excuse me for posting in wrong section, I couldn't find a correct section for general discussion of android phone (hardware).
EDIT: I posted this thread in both section Desire and Incredible S for unbiased opinion.
Of course it's a good idea, because that's exactly what i just did
The screens better on the IS, just search on youtube. Better contrast and colour rendition.
Got nothing against the size of the HD, i might sell and buy a Sensation when released.
If you're on about the original Desire, it just now looks so outdated IMO.
I wouldn't consider Desire s, heard one to many nightmare stories of wifi dropouts.

Can you root it and put a custom ROM? If so, does the guide exist?
if you searched further than your nose long is, u had the answer on that
Really depends on what you want to do with the phone. The screen display is a lot better than desire. If you just wanna a phone to use, IS is the choice. If you are a fun of installing custom ROMs, desire is probably a better choice. As far as I know, software rooting is not available yet for IS.
if you are comparing stock to stock...
the major advantage of having an IS is the internal memory... on a fresh stock rom...
Desire would have around 147MB for you to use for all your apps.. and you have to spare 30MB for OTA updates purpose...
if you have IS you have 1.07GB on a fresh rom... so many apps you can install without any worries
I switched last week from Desire to an IS.
I think it's a relief.
The screen is much better, it's a bit faster than the Desire.
Screensize is perfect for my pockets. Sound is pretty good.
Enough space for installing apps.
Also the touch buttons are cool.
Still I don't understand why this phone isn't that populair.

Becoz most people are keen on getting a dual core phone and they turn blind to see the features of the single core phones!

At first I was looking at a dual core as well.
But after all I thought: what is the real benefit at the moment?
I mean, I don't call that much a month, use internet a lot, play some simple games, listen to music and that's it.
My Desire could handle all those things very good.
I must say that I'm very happy with my IS and I'm glad I didn't wait for a dual core.
Bear in mind the Desire has some issues with multi-touch, and battery life isn't particularly good. It is readily rootable however, while some variants of the Incredible S are not.
My friend had a Desire nd i have an IS ... Go for the IS no doubt.. so fat the issues i ve seen in multi touch . battery life, screen , speed ( cause of RAM ) .. IS wins hands down
i know a lot of sensation users are gonna think im crazy but i really feel like moving to a wp7 device and since im on TMOUS, i only have one choice right now. the reason is i want to switch is because of the new mango update. i had wp7 on my hd2 but of course the battery wouldnt charge correctly and the browser was horrible! other than that i loved wp7, everything is simple no need to mod or change things. and the new talk of the update makes me miss the os.
now this is where u come in!! do u think the update was very significant, how is the browser compared to before? any problems i should know about the phone, like the sensation has some touchscreen issues? i would really love your guy's input, and if anyone is selling their device id be happy to purchase it.
PMed you a offer, please check.
and i haven't found any problems with the touchscreen or screen related on my device, i dont know about others.
I just bought my HD7 and updated to Mango. I totally love it. I came from the HD2 with Mango on it. There is a huge difference to me. It is so much smoother going from window to window or moving up and down on the tiles. Internet browser works great. I have no complaints until now. The only down side to this is that there isn't as much development as the HD2. After you experience this you will not go back. I say buy an HD7 and move on.

This is actually what I was hoping for. I think its better that there is no need for development. I'm at a point in my life where I don't have time to be messing with phones. I loved WP7 on my hd2 as well, so Im glad u had input from that prospective. I think I'm gonna do it and then prolly buy the HTC radar once my 6 month full upgrade comes around. Although the 8gb starage is a turnoff. Hopefully it can be modified like I've seen on the hd7.
Well thanks for the responses. And others feel free to give ur input still. And yes still looking for phone offers

I would hang on to your Sensation until T-Mobile gets some new hardware. I have both a Sensation and a HD7. Mango runs flawlessly on the HD7. It does everything my Sensation does, but better (with the exception of Flash and WiFi tethering). But in hand, the Sensation feels absolutely amazing. I'm hoping to have the Titan or something nice from Nokia land on T-Mobile. Someone will buy it and then demand an Android device, and I will come to their rescue.
WP7 is better than Android or iOS. Just my .02.

since this post and got the hd7 and have had it for 2 weeks.
and idk if i got a bad sensation, but the hd7 screen (i feel) brings out colors a lot better especially whites. and i have to agree i am loving wp7.5 mor than android, i havent owned an iphone since the 3gs but i feel wp7.5 is more convenient. of course i miss the wide selection of apps and flash but these things take time.
im not a fan of the giant screens, i actually feel i would like the radar better but the 8gb storage sucks and the screen is a little too small for me.... my pickiness is a killer lol.

I did just the opposite, switched from HD7 to sensation, and yeah you are right about the wp7 I too do really miss it.Good thing is that mom has my HD7 and after a bit of convincing I can get it back for a few days of course..

Hi, I have a spare mobile hd7, barely used, sim unlocked and upgraded to mango 7.5, let me know if you are still interested tnx ^_^
I love playing with phones. My screen died on my HD2 UltimateDroid. Insurance only covered another windows phone. They sent an HD7 Mango.HD7 running Deep Shining ROM. I felt limited as to apps and customization. HD7 is great for it's simplicity and social network integration. I also have a Sensation running Virtuous Inquisition ICS 4.0. Battery life is better with the HD7. Both can be tweaked to get better battery life. I have way more control over everything I do with Android and 4g, dual core. Because of the lack of battery life. I carry both! Custom ROMs so if I run outta juice, I switch SIMs LOL. I have to say the Sensation is a monster. I guess it's really user's preference!
Hi guys
Thanks for this great forum, and special thanks goes to you Capy, you are ****ing awesome!!
I have had my DHD for allmost a year now, and have been using several different roms for it, the one i am most happy with, is the RCMix3d Runny..
Oh yeah!
Now i got some questions..
My old DHD is about to retire, and i have these options..
Buy a "new" used one, that has been used for two months, and then have it for another year.. I am really a glad user of the DHD, and i wouldnt mind having the model for another year..
OR i could go and buy the Sensation XL..
But then some questions do pop up, that only develepors and other other people who knows a lot more than me, can answer..
Will the developing of ROMS and custom stuff, be quite as much for the Sensation XL, as it is for the DHD?
I think that i am only gonna go with the RCMix Runny..
and my biggest concern right now, is how to flash it?
I've heard something about all new models from HTC comes allready with s-off and all the other stuff off, so that you can install another rom, without flashing.. Is that correct?
Thank you so much for your time!

More than likely. It's a very new device but once it picks up, developers will become more common. Give it some time, and the ROMs will start appearing =]

But after reading this:
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/42444/htc-sensation-xl-xe-vs
I will say that the Sensation XE is better, though it has a smaller screen..
More pixels
Never processor
Records 1080p, which XL doesn't, only 720p
HDMI out, XL doesn't have
1730mAh battery, the XL has 1600
Its only screen size and memory size, that XL beats XE..
right, but the XL is the winner....
and better battery life

.. OH, right.. thank you SO much for the help..
Since you say so, that i just should use one, to know which one is the best, then you must have done it, used both phones..
Now.. Can you please tell my WHY the XL is better?
Yes, i can see you do have it, but.. why?
it isn't just because you are bitter, that the XE is better on many things?
The only thing that i can see is greater, is the screensize..
But then again, why have a bigger screen with less pixels?

Why does the XL have better battery life?
The XE comes with a bigger battery, and SMALLER screen..
And you say the XL has better battery life..
Can you explain that??
Again with that article you posted:
"Battery Life
1ST: SENSATION XL1600mAh, up to 710 mins talk time
2ND: SENSATION XE:1730mAh, 550 mins talk time
3RD: SENSATION1520mAh, up to 500 mins talk time
Thee Sensation XL offers quite a big advantage in terms of battery life over the straight HTC Sensation and Sensation XE depsite not having as big a battery pack as the last of the three. The difference is likely to be down to having a less power-hungry system-on-a-chip as well as having fewer pixels push and possibly to do with the nature of the screen technology as well. Whatever the reason, though, the result is that if you’re deeply concerned about not getting enough juice out of your handset, you might want to seriously consider the HTC Sensation XL over the others."

The Sensation and Sensation XE use the same 8260 processor although the XE is merely clocked higher. Both phones (and I'll put money on this) utilize a badly coded CPU (HTCs fault) rendering the apparent "awesome" dual core somewhat useless. I have used the Sensation and was appalled by it. It was choppy, slow to respond and was nowhere near as pleasing as the XL (which, despite being only single core, uses a newer generation CPU). The XL beat the Sensation on ALL tests other than benchmarking and even then the Sensation was only marginaly faster...but it's using a dual core, lolwot?
The GPU in the Sensation and XE is better than the one in the XL but there is virtually nothing demanding enough on smart phones that can really show the difference.
As far as RAM goes, although the XE has more, I have still yet to find someone that didn't find 700 odd mb of RAM to be more than adequate.
And then there's the battery...
Because the Sensation and XE are running an inefficient CPU, the battery drain is rapid, regardless of whether the XE cell has greater capacity or not.
And in my opinion, quarter HD screens look crap.
There you go.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio X315e using Tapatalk
In a nutshell, the practicality of the XL surpassed the other two, despite "better" specs.
IMO
And I'm definitely not bitter about it. I chose the XL even though I had the option of getting the XE or Sensation.
The guy in the store even offered me a Galaxy Nexus for the exact same price that I'm paying per month on this contract and I turned that down too.

Hope you will be cured soon, mate
Im going right now to take my Sensation XL, that has just arrived from Leipzig today. I really think that is te best smartphone than others, only because is the last and I think is the desire hd evolved.
I think that sensation XE was an "experiment" that has materialized in the XL, with the beats audio and everything else.
I had a desire hd and were very proud about it; last week I sold it. Great phone indeed
I've had the Desire HD and I'm loving the sensation XL major turn off is the no sd card slot for expansion and I really hope Capy keeps developing other roms for this great device and hope that other developers will join him as well

Hi guys,
I have switched from Galaxy S3 to HTC One lately and I am completely satisfied with the HTC so far.
On a side note I would like to say that in all reviews people say that HTC One has awesome build quality vs the Samsung phones, but in my opinion the term they wanted to use is design not build quality. It has very good design, while the quality is pretty poor I would say, or the quality control if you will. However, what I like the most about the HTC One is the Sense interface, yes, I despise Samsung's Touchwiz, did what I can to get rid of it (cyanogenmod). But here, for the first time I am granted the opportunity to switch to pure AOSP and I don't want to anymore. Sense 5.0, in my opinion is pleasing to the eye, functional and pretty light too, also in contrary to Samsung, the 4.2.2 update fixed most of the issues that were bugging people so that's also good.
Anyway, sorry for that short off-topic, I had to say it .
The "issue" I have discovered is that the speakers are quite heavily imbalanced, meaning that the bottom one is louder. I have started to be worried, knowing how poor HTC's quality control is, but then realized that when I turn on Beats Audio they get perfectly balanced then.
Maybe this is how they designed it to WOW people with that Beats Audio switch, or maybe there is something going on with my device.
Does it happen with your HTC One also? I'm curious...
Nothing like that for me.. Just checked

Hey guys,
Im buying a new phone soon. Idk what to buy tbh. All i need is a lagfree, long battery life phone and it shouldn't be easy to brick.
My heart actually goes for the Note 2 at first. But I realised that the HTC One is so much better with built quality and then BoomSound speakers is neat. But the cons are that, from this QA thread, there are lots of bricked, stucked etc stuff goin on So im not sure which to guy.

I think that you need to buy HTC One. I used Note 2 for about 1 month, and then exchange for HTC One. And i am satisfied with One. Great speed, battery lasts 2 days maybe with turn on WiFi. If u want bigger phone, then pick Note 2.

unfortunately, device comparison thread are not allowed here. If you are not sure which device is the best for you, you can ask in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846277
never mind, looks like the forum rules have changed and this type of discussion is now allowed.
And btw, most of the time when a phone is bricked its 99% caused by the user doing something wrong like flashing incompatible stuff and playing with s-off when they don't understand what they are doing. Same thing apply for every brand of phones, before modding it, make sure you know what you are doing. Amount of "my phone is bricked" threads is not representative of the phone quality imo.
Good luck
