Hi, I'm trying to return a Vivid to make it completely stock for warranty purposes. Everything is good, but the bootloader status still shows "re locked" instead of "locked", which has me worried. I know flashing the PH39IMG.zip file to return to factory settings will set the state back to "locked", but the file is both missing in the link from the superguide and from goo.im (which apparently just recently lost a ton of files). I've been searching all over the internet for one, and I found this:
http://d-h.st/yPN
My issue is that I'm not entirely sure if this is exactly what I'm looking for. In the worst case scenario, if this is another version of PH39IMG.zip for Rogers or something other than the US ATT Vivid, would running the RUU again bring me back to the ATT Vivid stock software?
Also, can someone tell me if ATT would even check the HBOOT status for warranty purposes if the phone is completely stock, unrooted, and everything is seemingly working? Am I wasting my time?
Thanks.

If your going to a store most employees are not smart enough to notice, if you are going to an service center they might catch it. I returned my inspire for a warranty and was rooted and did not have any trouble. I will see if i have a coopy of that and will let you know.

Thanks so much. It's going to be sent back to ATT, so service center I'm guessing (hence the worry). It's just unfortunate that both reliable links to this file on the internet both recently got broken haha. Very frustrating. If you have, you'll officially be my favorite person on the internet. Thank you.

Thanks, but that's not what I'm trying to do. The device was already once S-Off and is now back to S-On, however the bootloader still shows its state as re locked and not locked. I know putting it S-Off again will lock it, but that's something I'd rather not get into. Thanks though.
If anyone can reupload the PH39IMG.zip file though, I would be very grateful.
Says if you return it to s on it will say locked on post 6-7 but if the void sticker is an issue you can get them on eBay ,
I'm sorry I do not have that file
Yeah, it's actually the S-Off process that resets it to lock. I did that at one point but had to unlock bootloader again. S-ON process doesn't unfortunately reset it. The issue is, the phone is no longer with me, it belongs to a friend of mine who has moved far away. I wouldn't want her to go through the S-Off/S-On process all over again just to get the bootloader to display locked. I think we'll probably just end up sending the phone in.
Thanks for the help, though.
Oh got ya ,
Maybe you can sort it out and tell att it just stopped working and they will send you a refurbished one lol , jk good luck man sorry I couldn't have been more help.

Haha its cool. She actually already has the replacement. I don't think it's a huge issue but if they want to be jerks they can see that the bootloader had once been unlocked when she sends the old phone back. I highly doubt it will be an issue, but its always difficult to know.
Thanks anyways though, it is something to think about.
Yea just play dumb att has always done me right except one time I didn't play dumb lol then I started to and got a replacement anyway .
I think if your in the one yr warranty they will work with ya

Hi guys, I was wondering if any of you guys know how to fix this problem with the keyboard not working after sliding the screen completely open and I say completely open because when I open it half through the touch screen will work but only when the screen is completely open so I can use the keyboard is when it stops working. It also works when in landscape mode but the device has to be closed otherwise it's not working. Any help will be much appreciated and thank you in advance.
are you running a hero rom?
Yes I am but actually this happened before I flashed hero on the phone I first had this problem when the phone was on JF 1.51
dont know exactly what the problem might be but it sounds like a hardware issue, you should return it
I'm gonna just keep trying if after a week I can't get it fixed ill considered returning it. Is there an easy way to go factory/stock mode because if they find out my phone is rooted they're going to void any warranty the phone may have

yes you can, there is a link in the stickies... ill post it here as well [HOW TO] UNROOT, get phone to STOCK firmware
also since we are on this topic, does anyone know if tmobile checks IMEI on warranty exchanges, or do they just see if the phone is up for warranty exchange still. i am wanting to swap my spare g1 with a new one since the speaker is out on it and some of the keys dont work, but i dont want to run into problems at tmobile. Thanks guys!
I had warranty devices shipped out to me, perhaps 20 times. They only asked me to confirm the IMEI, maybe 4 times, out of 20. Asurion on the other hand, has always asked to confirm the IMEI on all phone claims etc...
As far as them checking the IMEI in the warehouse once the Phone is returned, I have no idea. I have yet to return a phone whos IMEI's didnt match. Sorry.
Goodluck tho.

ok thanks! if anything, maybe i can just tell them my original phones IMEI and ship back the other haha
nah thats messed up, but it is clever!
It seems to be happening all the time, my HTC One 32GB has a very annoying problem with focusing: it keeps refocusing at "light speed" to the point where it's just a blur in at some times! I have HTCDev unlocked my phone and installed a rom which I had hoped would solve the problem as if it were a software issue but oh no, it still does it and it makes the phone vibrate a bit when it keeps doing it.
I'm worried that with it being HTCDev unlocked and slightly chipped with a fall I made, that I wouldn't be able to get it sent back (I've heard HTCs' repair service is a bit on the crap side), is there any fix or am I screwed?
I had a video I could show you but with my 2 post standing, I can't post links D:

So probably hardware defect. I had the same problem.
Concerning unlocked bootloader: there are many threads here about relocking using s-off.

I had my phone HtcDev unlocked, and doesn't that mean they'll have my phone's code on file in case I try for a replacement? I got the phone last week on Car phone warhouse, do you think they'll replace it in store if I lock it again?

Don't worry about it being unlocked! They never check or refuse warranty. I've never read of anyone being refused warranty service for having an unlocked bootloader. I've sent many in and never had a problem. People need to stop worrying about it.

That seems pretty good to me, how do you recommend going about locking it again as I've heard I need to do, and who should I return it to? HTC or CarphoneWarehouse? Many thanks!

Is it s-off? If it's only bootloader unlocked go into fastboot and type fastboot oem lock. It will say relocked tho. If you're s-off there are ways to s-on and make it show "locked" but I'm not sure the s-on works very well. If you're sending it in for repair don't bother locking it at all. There are many instances were HTC hasn't cared if it's unlocked. In fact, like I said, I've never seen anyone be denied repair services because of it being unlocked or rooted. Try calling the place where you bought it first to see if they will send you out a replacement. Then call HTC if they won't.

Hello, many thanks for your reply. I think I'll try to S-OFF to get it back to untampered, locked S-ON (seems odd, but apparently it works), I'm just worried that I wouldn't get a replacement from the shop I'd bought it from due to the damage on the phone (it has a noticeable chip and scratch on the back), I only got it a week back! Do you think I'd still be eligible, if so, I could take it into town today or tomorrow and get a replacement (hopefully) as it's so close.. Otherwise I may resort to HTC. One thing I've also noticed is that the sound is no where as near to loud as some people have suggested. I'm quite young (17) and have no hearing difficulties but the phone isn't "boomy" at all, it's only slightly superior in quality and a bit in loudness to my ol' HTC Sensation. I fear I may have a faulty device but the tampering I've been doing it and the chips may turn the warranty against me..
Hello XDA-Community!
I own an Unlocked HTC One 32 GB bought from Let's Talk HTC online dealer and shipped to US.
I have been using information from these forums ever since I ditched my old iPhone 4 to get the new Shiny HTC One. I have had it for about two months, since the beginning of may and only a couple weeks back decided to try the fun part of Android and successfully unlocked the bootloader with HTCDev, flashed a custom recovery and rooted the phone. Since then, tried a few roms and been having a blast. The only problem I had was weak battery life, but I decide to live with it and stuck with it.
Today I discovered an overlooked or recently appeared defect with this phone, and I haven't heard of other people with the same issue, but part of the screen on the sides of the phone is lifted as if it's not mounted properly and was poorly glued ( don't know how it's manufactured ). So, I'm gonna try to do a warranty claim on it as I believe should be possible with this phone. I can't and don't want to sit this problem out as it's too much as hopefully you can see.
Sorry can't post the images directly yet:

Hopefully you can see in the links that it has risen and whenever I try to push it down it either springs back up with a clicking sound or stick for a second and then slowly rises back to that position. I think this is a bit unusual as I have not seen or heard of this complaint before.
The main Question I'm having is, how do I go from having S-off and being unlocked and rooted to completely stock, meaning S-on, stock recovery, stock rom etc.. The main reason I installed S-off is so that in case something like this happens I can reset even the "relocked" status back to "locked"in the bootloader as I understood S-off lets you achieve that. S-off was performed with Revone developer build without any issues encountered during process. I did not change/flash Hboot, CID, radios or anything to do with S-off other than removing the "Tempered" flag from the bootloader.
I have the Ruu ready and everything, but am puzzled by trying to figure out the process/order in which I should execute commands and what they shall be to achieve my goal of absolute factory stock.
If anybody has experience filing warranty claims, feel free to chip in with your experiences, troubles and processes.
Thanks to anyone that can help,
Alex

Usually, as long as the defect is undeniably a hardware issue and completely unrelated to any software tampering, HTC will still honour a warranty replacement even if you have unlocked and rooted.
Before going down the road of trying to hide this (HTC will have a record of the phone’s IMEI number on the HTCDev unlocked phones list anyway) try and send this info to HTC. You may find that are happy to repair/replace it for you under warranty as it would have happened anyway even if you had left it locked down.

Ok then, I see. I will try to do that, but would still want to know and I believe it would help other in the future to know. How can I go back to S-on and make sure it says "locked" in the bootloader instead of "relocked".
If anybody could help, would be really welcome.

Just an info:
Getting the unlock.bin from HTC Dev doesnt mean that the phone is for sure getting unlocked. So, unless and until the phone is literally unlocked, they cannot void the warranty.
yeah....i too unlocked my xperia from sony....never had a prob with warranty....I used to flash back stock rom from pc using flashtool .... You can use a similar software for htc
And @mathrania is right
The guys at service centre probably know less than you about this stuff

Hello. I am quite worried right now because I sent my phone in for repair and apparently my phone is out of warranty. Was it because I was s-off? I thought s-off had nothing to do with warranty. I feel so stupid now. I didn't know you could go from s off back to s on. The issues I am having with my HTC one is a dead pixel and the build quality. It has nothing to do with the software. The phone was given to Telus Mobility which then was sent to HTC repair. Now I get a notification that says my phone is out of warranty. Please help. My phone was also returned to stock settings and no tampered sign and locked bootloader.

I think you need to discuss with Tellus mate, no-one here can help much with this type of issue.
If the problems are minor, just get them to send it back as-is. Should be little/no charge.

I hope not. I remember needing to run a RUU two times because the first time I ruued I forgot to lock up my boot loader so I rerouted and locked. After locking I ran the RUU again to clear the last and that's it. My phone still has some data but nothing to do with rooting. It also had a PW on it.

yes, a full ruu wipes internal storage.
Well... It seems like HTC says that my phone has physical damage? They also said that the button was physical damage... Search Google for HTC One button flush... I bet thousands of post talk about the button and my dead pixel was caused by pressure? How do they know if pressure was put on it... HTC trolling.

You should've reset that RELOCKED flag to just LOCKED while it was S-OFF. If you S-OFF it again you can still do that. I guess at this point HTC already blacklisted it though. Did you use Firewater?
