Hi, i'm looking for a phone calling timer that vibrate (or play a tone) every 15 seconds or some amount of time.
Thanks in advance
...er.... you've already got one... options/call settings/vibrate every 45 seconds.
Thank you but can't find it
Is that option present on g1?
It is on mine.. maybe it's just in custom builds, I can't remember tbh, so long since I used stock.
Ok lets say i am in yahoo (dowloaded offical app not the pre-installed at&t IM app). I will finish what i am doing in yahoo, leave it running and return to the HOME screen. A few minutes later (after receiving no messages) I wake up my phone & it is yahoo! It shold still be at the HOME screen as this is the last thing that was open before sleep mode. This also happens randomly with my text and call log. I will make a call and hang up. Phone times out in 15 seconds and is left on the home screen. I wake it up and my list of calls is on the display....this should NOT BE! Text messages show up after the wake up some times as well. Additionally I am on my 3rd captivate with a brand new sim card and I will be on the phone for 5 minutes in a COMPLETE singnal area and my call will not just "drop" it's almost like the entire phone app disables and I lose all signal for 10 seconds & it regains and the screen blanks out. What gives??!!! I am using task manager and I have the "phone" ignored as proccess that it should not auto-kill so I do not know! Any help with any of these issues will be appreciated!
I would uninstall task manager first to make sure it's not the problem. If its still happening keep uninstalling apps one at a time until you get back to the factory loadout.
My thinking is that if this is your third phone then it's most likely a software issue. I haven't seen anything around the forums about similar problems out of the door so I have to think its something you've modified or an app that is causing the issue.
The only alternative i can think of would be to start reading up on each app you've installed to see I'd they've been tested on the captivate.
Good luck

Look what I just received on my RSS feed:
Translated from Italian
I'm studying it to see how it works, can someone help me?
Why don't you just link to the official thread? http://www.swedroid.se/forum/showthread.php?t=38703
I can tell you it's working!
/edit
Works like this:
When screen is off the app checks every 30 sec to see if there is any new incoming email, sms/mms, calls. If it's returned as true the lights of your touch buttons light up. It lights up every 10 sec for 3 hours. If the phone is not wakened withing that time, it stops.
The first time you have to press "start" to start the process. If you tick the "start service on boot", it's not necessarily to press start.
Test it with the "test" key.
You can also set the default value of the brightness of the buttons with this app
Think that's about what is important from that post.
Very nice, thanks for the hint.
I was watching the fact that is fulfilled by Log messages, is it normal?
Perfect Thnx a lot for the link.
Missed this feature since my change from Desire

checks every 30 sec? is it possible a battery drain issue or let the phone never sleep?
that was my thoughts too... Will check it out for a day and see.

Wow, looks&works nice.. What about battery life impact?
I'm afraid it will drain terribly the battery... if someone can help me understand where is the code that controls the leds, I can try to set it up so that it's activated by notifications, instead of checking for them... we might need Paul's help here!!!
OK that's very nice and handy indeed, but i also wanna know about the battery drainage, on the otherhand using the app (or hidding menu) to reduce the output power of the leds you can conserve lot's of energy tho .
Yeah I'm not sure that's the way it's supposed to be done. While I am grateful for the dev of this app, I think the goal is to have these LEDS tied in to the Android Notification system itself, because any other way will be a drain on the battery.
Tegra2 is awesome because it takes up so little power in idle. If we have an app checking every 30s, the SoC is no longer idle, per say. If we increase the timer to let it idle, it's no longer a real notification system. Hence, this is probably not the way to go.
No I'm not sure where this is handled in Android though. If i'm not mistaken, a setting activated or not on the ROM, to tell the OS wether the phone has or not a LED for notifications. If so, we just need to rerout those acceses to the button LEDs. Then again, wtf do I know lol.
If anyone wants to point me in the right direction I'd love to look into that more closely (I dev C++, Java so should be able to work something out) Pm me.
There could be some push notification that goes to the notification bar, that may be used to also trig this software?
I guess it doesnât wake up the machine but runs as a background process.

I've used it for a day now, fr6, 1200mhz overclock. After a lot of texting, and intense music playing I still have 30% battery. At the bottomline, I haven't noticed any impact on the battery life.

I'm having a go at writing my own version that can do both brightness settings and notifications. So far I've caught up to Paul's app feature-wise, and will tackle notifications in a bit (hopefully in a more battery friendly way).
If I'm first done then I might put it on the market, but otherwise it's a great learning exercise for me!

My fix is a 80$ liveview but I'm sure that's a little out of context.. still wish this phone came with an led notification. :/

Code:
echo 20 > /sys/devices/platform/star_touch_led/wled
20 is the brightness value i think.
I've used mine for 7 hours now, 50% left.
I've used wimp for music, wifi hotspot and xda/web. That's prof it's good enough for me...
Nice app! Just what I was looking for!
Hi folks,
i cant really explain it better in the title, sorry for that.
Sometimes my phone acts pretty weird.
If it's in standby-mode and i press the Power-OFF/ON button to awake it, it takes like an eternity for the phone to actually wake up.
Same goes for the Home-Button at the center.
When there is an incoming call and i anwer it, i cant "close" the call by myself, because i simply cannot access the menu once the phone is in standby-mode when talking longer than 20 secs.
The strangest thing happens when I call somebody else: i cannot close that call e.g. when nobody answers, i have to push home-Button or On/Off-Button a thousand times in order to get a short response from my phone where i see the dialer menu for like 2 seconds...
Somebody got an idea?
P.S.: Is it normal that LauncherPro-Background is bugged in Gingerbread-ROMs? It sometimes shows a black background while only the dock shows the part of the background i actually set.
Regards.
Aww i really want to get these problems solved :/
I'd realy like a solution on that aswell, it's very anoying
Well the launcherpro bug is because ram memory is full and launcherpro needs to reload himself. I don't have the first problem on cm7, which rom do you use?
I was on Darkys 9.5 extreme edition when this problem occured. In addition to that problem also occured when i was on a doc rom - irealy have no clue why.
I am currently on Darkys 10.1 but couldnt test if the bug ia still there when calling or answering a call.

I'm curious if anyone else is finding the phone a bit too laggy, or if it's just my setup. I tap an icon or a soft key and there's a 1-2 second delay while the phone thinks about it. I move the phone away from my face when finishing a call and the screen takes 2-3 seconds to reactivate so I can actually tap end to end the call. Is this normal in your experience?
I seem to recall there was not this much lag when I first got the phone, but the odd thing is that I haven't really installed any more apps. I do use Nova, but I don't have any social apps running in the background or GPS enabled or bluetooth enabled. Just WiFi and 3G. I also turned off nearly all the Google services.

I have quite the opposite opinion of yours. My phone flies

The phone is fast for me as well, even recent apps have no delay (there was LAG when GravityBox was installed).
However, I notice the phone call issue you having, selecting the contact and press call, takes 1-2 seconds to get through (no visible UI lag) and after finishing the call, it takes the same amount of time while the CallUI goes away.

The "after the call" thing you mentioned isn't a bug. It's there so you can "Call back".

no lag here, phone flies. have been stock from day one, it's been four months now. recent apps, transitions, opening and closing apps = all fast. there is the noted lag when starting the camera from the shutter button, and not consistently responsive Tap2Wake, but once the screen is lit up and i'm doing things, i'm happy.
re: finishing a call. just got off the phone a little while ago, and didn't notice any slow behaviour -- certainly nothing like a 2-3 second delay to come on.
OK, so I guess I might have a problem. The weird thing is that sometimes there's a lag launching an app and other times there's not. Must be something running in the background messing with it, not that I normally have much running.
The phone call thing is really annoying though, and has become worse since the firmware update. Often I will have to push the button to get the screen to light up when I want to end a call. It's like the proximity sensor just refuses to do its thing. Guess I'll wait for Lollipop to see if that changes anything.
