i was follow below link to flash my phone the followed the step to flash, but my phone frozed the HTC Logo page when completed flash rom and reboot the phone, how can i fix this problem, pls help!! thanks
So you tried to flash a rom, but you have the white HTC screen?
Are you htcdev unlocked? You need to fastboot flash your boot.IMG from that ROM, there are guides here on how to do that if you don't know

You need to open the ARHD zip file and extract the boot.img and copy it to your c:\androidsdk (or whatever you named it) directory where you installed adb.exe and fastboot.exe when you unlocked the phone.
Then boot the phone into the FASTBOOT USB mode like you did when you unlocked the phone. Open a command window and set your working directory to c:\androidsdk (or whatever you named it) and type the following:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
You should then be able to reboot you phone normally.
Everytime you decide to flash a new ROM, you will have to do this manual procedure after you flash the ROM in recovery.
Thank you for your help. the phone can load to window and everything is very good, thank you very much for your help! Also, would you pls advise how can i set up the cpu to over 1.2Ghz, now is fixed at 1.2Ghz! Thx

Look in the Development section for the XS-ICS thread. It is a kernel that will replace the stock kernel that was in the ARHD 3.0.1 ROM. Read the first and second posts in that thread carefully.

Try to put a correct ROM zip with the name PG32IMG.zip on your SD card and then boot into bootloader(Power + Vol Down), it'll should pick up the zip from sd card and update it.
Follow the onscreen instructions to update.
ummmm sryry but when i look for a stock rom australia it is always in the form of an exe not a zip can you plz link me to a zip rom

You simply need to extract the Rom.zip from the RUU exe.

When you run the RUU.exe, it will uncompress the exe and you will find the ROM.zip file in the %TEMP% directory, which may or may not be the roaming directory you searched in. I would also check the Local and LocalLow folders. Also, you need to keep the RUU.exe screen opened while you are searching the directories because when you exit the program it will clean up the %TEMP% directory.
You could attempt to flash CWM back on your phone by using the PG32IMG.zip file and see if HBOOT will pick it up. If that is successful, then you can flash a ROM and you should be good to go.

You can use CWM or TWRP. You don't have to use 4EXT. If you use TWRP, I recommend using version 2.2.1.4 because the newer versions have problems with flashing older flash zips.
I used CWM (v. 5.0.2.0) and TWRP (v. 2.2.1.4) on two separate occasions, and they both worked fine for me.
Just download the recovery file (ends with .img) and flash it using:
fastboot flash recovery NAME_OF_RECOVERY_FILE
To get into fastboot mode, turn off the phone (or pull battery) and turn it on while pressing the volume-down button.

I have a nexus 7, but this should be the same.
Install CWM or TWRP ad that guy said, but then copy any rom files onto a flash drive, and then install that rom off of an OTG cable. That should be it.
Good luck.

I am sorry if there has already been a question posted on this, if so please direct me in the right way.
I have the HTC Developer Edition and am currently on Software 1.29.1540.3 and my phone has issued me the update (hurray! I need to fix the dam home and back buttons! so annoying...anyway) When I try to do the update (1.29.1540.16), my phone loads me into my custom recovery (ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.3.1) which then issues begin! Forever is stuck in Run Bug_fix tool. WHY?! WHY?!?!?!?!
I have provided pictures of the steps that my phone goes through so if you can tell me anything about it, please do so thank you!

@mikeg818 : you need to flash recovery in Fastboot Mode
@sampagna : you cannot update if you have custom recovery. So first flash stock recovery in fastboot and then do the update ( provided you are on stock ROM)

@x017in: Sorry for the naive question. I still have a lot to learn about android. I have rooted my phone to put down CWM. Now I know that I am having custom recovery, but I am not sure if I am having custom ROM or stock ROM. Custom ROM refers to s.th like Cyanogenmod, right?
Yep. That's what custom Rom means.. so now you need to put back the recovery that came stock with the phone. Only then will the OTA update work

Did you do the "fastboot flash boot boot.img" step like it says in the thread? Anyways, the ROM that you are using now is based on Cyanogenmod10. We have two kernels for that. Look in the index thread (link in my signature) for the two kernels. You can choose anyone you like.
Once you download the kernel, place it in C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools of your PC.
Then switch off your phone, remove the battery, put it back in.
Then hold volume-down and power button till the phone starts.
Connect your phone to the PC. Now it should say "FASTBOOT USB" on the screen
Open command window in your PC and navigate to the folder where you have pasted the kernel file.
Then type "fastboot flash boot boot.img" without quotes (and assuming that the file is called boot.img)
Then type "fastboot erase cache" then "fastboot reboot"
Then wait for some time.. It should start.

i followed loads of guides i unlocked the bootloader and then i installed cwm by munjeni using hasoon2000 all in one toolkit
would you be able to backup up your current system and send it to me so that i could restore it and hopefully my phone will work
The toolkit has an option to flash kernels. Follow the instructions there. And if you are using Darkbreed IV, use Prometheus or NOPE kernel
i just downloaded the nope kernel and i used the toolkit to flash a kernel but it says error: device not found what to do ??????
Ash, I think you need to erase the cache first.
Also Nope kernel doesn't work on sense roms.
Wipe the cache data and dalvik and try flashing the rom again with the correct kernel.
If it keeps getting stuck, try lower frequencies.
I mentioned the erase cache command in post #4. And he gave me a link for darkbreed so that's why I suggested nope or prometheus. The problem here is not wrong kernel. He hasn't flashed the kernel at all. It was clearly mentioned in Russell's thread. He hasn't even installed android sdk and judging from his last response, not even drivers.

OK now here's what you should do. There is a link for a guide/faq thread in my signature. In that thread, I have answered the question "how to flash a kernel".
There I have provided two links - one for a tool and one guide.
Go for the guide and not the tool. That guide will help you to set up your computer for flashing and it will also tell you how to flash kernels. That will definitely solve your problem.
For the future, do not just skip instructions. If you do not understand a particular instruction in a thread, ask before you move ahead. This problem could have been avoided if you had done so.
Now read the guide and the faq thread. And if you have any further questions, I will be happy to help you

I'm gonna go all out on this and tell you that you are hopeless.
People explained to you nice and easy how to do it.
You did try and you did not follow the advice correctly, afterwards asking for more advice.
If you refuse to listen to people that are more experienced than you, you have no place here.
In case you want to change your mind look up some videos on how to flash a kernel and read which kernel goes for which rom.
Just in case you are completely oblivious, you flash a kernel by holding Vol- and the power button to go into fastboot.
Then you go to bootloader. Then you use ADB to flash it. Reboot. Done.
Doesnt ring bells? Go google it.
Can you please give a link to what guide you followed?

If u can boot into recovery try to mount the sd card via the recovery and install a stock rom and flash the boot.img (extracted from the rom) via CMD

Ok
1. Post exactly what it says in the bootloader screen. (Take a picture or just type it all out)
2. Follow through the entire guide to the bottom. You will need S-OFF for some ROMs.
3. The stuff you find in the downloads section on htcdev.com is mostly kernel sources.
4. You need to flash the ENTIRE ROM through recovery. The boot.img just contains some kernel parts while the ROM contains the apps and the framework, bootanimation etc. (you didn't actually think an android system could be compressed down to about 1mb did you ._. )

What you downloaded from htcdev.com wasn't a ROM or an RUU. It was a kernel source...
And to find a flashable ROM, go to android development section for the HTC Incredible S here on XDA. Find a ROM, and click download link in the OP of the respective ROM page.
