Smoothest Froyo ROM with best Battery Life? - Motorola Droid and Milestone Q&A, Help & Troublesh

Which 2.2 ROM for the Milestone is the fastest, but also has great battery life? One that will withstand running apps smoothly, but not killing the battery so quickly.

any rom 2.2 to 550-800mhz overclocking increases battery life 2 days straight ... I recommend Rom rentail brazil .. Froyo 2.2

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007493&highlight=brazil this one?

yeah .. but I do not have the link to the ROM

In my opinion TheFroyoMOD is the best one.

CM6 is the best Froyo-based ROM, however CM7 provides better battery life and performance, compared to Froyo.

You can get either fastest or great battery life, not both... Stock Froyo is better in the battery life department than anything else, some roms are close, but even with undervolt and turning off radios/3G when not needed, stock froyo battery life is better (and can get even better by doing the exact same thing)...
Altough, it is not as smooth as Froyomod or CM6 or CM7....
You will have to either give up a little bit of battery life, or a lot of smoothnes.... My Milestone is running CM7 and I think that it is, overall, the best option for it.

Best 2.1 ROM for battery life?

What would you guys recommend as the best 2.1 ROM for maximizing battery life. I'm using CM 5.0.8 right now, but I can practically watch the battery percentage drop as I use it. Is there anything better out there? Would Froyo be better?

i can recommend the beta v3.0 of xillius200's senserom. but you should wait a bit because he is still fixing the home reloads.
you could use the hero rom with another launcher (launcher pro or adw)
the second best battery result i had was on "gammafly" pretty amazing. already had lost faith in froyo but now my phone can take up to 30 hours with some few videos and browsing / chatting
anyway best is donut or cupcake
Buy another battery lol and use them both

[Q] What's the best rom for least battery drain?

Imho all gingerbread roms are inferior to froyo roms in terms of battery life, if battery life is important stick to froyo roms... if u want performance and looks go for simply honey rom(gingerbread)..
Don't go for 2.3.3 based rom if you are concern about battery drain. Other than that, choose any rom that suits you and get a battery efficient kernel will do. =)

Which is the best Rom/kernel for battery life?

Which one is the best Rom/Kernel combination for battery life? I am currently using latest cognition build but I am not happy with the batter life. Any advice?

Their really is no answer to your question. Its all opinion. Cause not all phones, rom, and kernels elect are the same/equal. They are all different and they perform differently. So the best thing to do is test them out for yourself and find the one that meets your needs.
Gingerbread ROMs has more battery drain than Froyo based ones.. wats your battery life?

Advantages of 2.3 vs 2.2 for Captivate

What is the advantage of 2.3 vs. 2.2 for our phone. I know everyone likes to have the latest and greatest, but is there any features that the captivates hardware takes advantage of. For example I understand that 2.3.4 adds video chat but the captivate does not have a front facing camera. I know that the update has to have security enhancements, but what are features to get excited for with 2.3?
The voice stuff. Much more full featured without third party apps. I can say things like "set alarm 15 minutes" and be alerted.
Other than that and the fact that most development has switched to 2.3, not much.

Battery life is HUGELY extended. Gingerbread does some automatic juggling with data connections to keep usage to a minimum. Pre gingerbread I would get 6-8 hours of battery life without using a program like Juice Defender. Now I easily get 30 hours of battery life.
I thought there was a battery drain issue, was that only with cm7 or I9000 roms?
I too experience massive battery drain with Miui which is a 2.3 cm7 rom.
asrrin29, are you suggesting other 2.3 roms that aren't based on cm7 will have the extended battery life?
I get 30 plus hours with Andromeda3 with about 30% battery left , so , if battery life is one of the few reasons to flash GB I'll just stay where I'm at.
MIUI and CyanogenMod have horrible battery life. Thats their own little bug, remember they are AOSP's and they still haven't worked out the kinks on Nexus S rom to galaxy S. But Gingerbread roms have HUGE battery life increase over froyo. I can get anywhere from 12-36 hours (12 would be heavy use). Sadly Android 2.3.3 has a small little bug where android OS would start eating battery like no one's business, a reboot fixes that problem. Android 2.3.4 fixes that issue.
The battery drain on cm7 is nowhere bad as it was, I get around 18- 26 hours. and most issues have been fix as well.

I get about 6-8 max on MIUI.
I'll try a non-cm7 rom.

Well I am basing my info from what I've read. I also think the battery issues have to do with kernel-modem combination. But when people say they are getting horrible battery life on GB rom, odds are they are on cm7 or MIUI =/

I agree with the kernel-modem combination
Cause i stay on the stock kernel, most other cm7 kernels tend get out date and break updates so i just stay way from them.
Miui seems to be the one with battery life issues, cm7 is getting pretty close to samsung rom battery levels.
Undervolting helps a lot with cm7/miui. I personally feel like gingerbread is smoother and the newer gb roms have some beautiful themes. Battery life is definitely better with the exception of cm7/miui.

[Q] i9000 - Best Modem and Kernel for Battery Life

Hi,
Whether I'm on the latest SlimBean, CM10 or CM9, battery life is always bad for me. I don't have draining apps and when the phone is idle it's not using battery at all. The problem lies within usage, when I'm using my phone, the battery life goes down too fast (when I'm using Whatsapp and Gmail. Especially when you compare it to stock.
I've done a bit of reading and many people suggest the Modem and Kernel files can have a huge impact on battery life.
So, I wonder, what would you guys recommend to increase my battery life during usage?
I've found this thread with modems: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1870460
(My wish is a fast phone with a ROM that looks nice, like the latest SlimBean, but I appreciate battery life more. However, a rooted Gingerbread stock ROM goes so slow...)
