[Q] Can we port Note 10.1 ROM on our N7000? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

since both the devices have "almost" the same hardware... can we port the 10.1 ROM on our N7000?

If your looking for a tablet interface you might want to have a look at the Paranoid Android rom, there's a couple of different ways you can have the interface set-up including tablet mode, you can also set individual apps to whether they are in tablet or phone mode and the size or resolution they are displayed at, it's really worth a look.

Wonder why do you say "can we" as you would be doing something in the process.... Better ask.. Is it possible for any of the N7000 awesome developers make a port of xxxxxxxxx to the device?

xperiacle's project...RevengeDevTeam has joined with xperiacle and his team. The best tablet version, just like note 10.1, will be released in Angry v3 ROM updated with UpdateMe (OTA), I think.
So, install Angry v3 ROM (JB 4.1.2 XXLSC) from RevengeDevTeam and wait for an update

Theoretically, yes you could. Even though the N7000 hardware is much different. Problem is, why? Not many developers would want to spend so much time working on a port of the same TouchWiz interface, apps, and features from a separate firmware. It would be much easier to change your DPI to 160 if you want a tablet interface.

[Q] Why all custom roms are the same in SGN

Hello,
I have a SGN rooted, but I check the new custom ROMs and all is the same: all have jkai mod, or 16 buttons, ICS skin... The same ROM with different name... My question: why don't have different roms? Why no port ICS, Sense roms, MIUI roms or Cyanogen.
I know isn't easy make a ROM but I think need variety, innovate ...!!!
Enviado desde mi GT-N7000 usando Tapatalk
Sense can't be ported to other devices than HTC's, official ICS isn't released yet, CM9 is under development (ICS drivers needed so they need to wait for a leak or official release), MIUI is based on CM7/9 so you get the picture.
Conclusion: We'll have to wait a little.
Sent from my iPad GT-N7000 using xda premium
Thats because there just tweaked stock roms. Theres only 1 custom rom and its alpha build.
Im pretty sure with ics around the corner devs dont want to waste tgere time with old cm7. When cm9 us around the corner. Then we see miui
GALAXY NOTE
Waiting to MIUI or Cyanogen 7 or 9 for SGN... Great a lite roms... I think when Samsun launch a ICS ROM, the working hard.

[Req] cm 7 based rom

I fully understand devs' work and the philosophy behind developing. And i thank you all devs for your great achievements in mini 2 developement
But, i have a dilema: why did no one tried to develop or port a good old cm 7 rom?
The stock rom is awfaul. It lacks, freezes, reboots... The cm 9-10.1 roms are great, but, let.s face it: untill sammy releasy official jb there is nothing to do
So, why not a cm 7 rom?
I had a galaxy ace once and switching from stock to cm 7 was revelatory...
Please consider my request

i think we can achieve the best performance that can fit into this device
it would be cool to see cm7, i think all drivers must work on it
cool idea i think that will be the right choice until offical jelly bean come
Glad to see others thinks the same
I think for a dev, porting an cm7 rom is a matter of hours.
I wish i could do that but i don.t know how.
Anyway, i hope that someone will complete this task
Best regards!

I think nobody ported it cause CM7 is for Armv6 and Mini 2 is Armv7

i don't think so cause it's build on GingerBread and it's stock ROM the deference between the that cm7 lighter slicer faster with root premession

I really don't think like you. Even S2 in early days had cm7. Now lot of peoples port CM9/10/10.1 and a little bit ports cm7.
Sent from my GT-S6500D using Tapatalk 2
Well, seeing as we'll not get JB, and for that matter a fully working CM10(.1), CM7 seems like a very good idea. With a new stable kernel, without TouchWiz 3.0, and any bloatware, it'll be blazing fast. Plus, the DSP Manager combined with the already awesome stock music experience it'll be more awesome for me. I know it's on the CM 10(.1) but I want a camera damn it! (even though I know it sucks, but it's important kinda for me).
As i said in first post, i really applaud the devs' work on cm 9-10.1, but they (you) have to think that the average noob user (like me) needs a fully working custom rom, even it.s not the latest android update.
So, devs will have our support in developing new roms, in the same giving us a humble cm7 rom for our daily use
I guess that if galaxy ace was running so smoothly with cm7, mini 2 will be lighting faster
And, of course, being arm7 is not an impediment for cm7

[Q] Android Kitkat for our Galaxy s?

Any news about kitkat development for our device? Maybe Kitkat will increase the life span of our device
for few more days. And i Don't wanna leave this device

Oh, nice to hear that. Love the work of devs in this community for our old device
not sure if KitKat brings us a huge performance boost, but it should run pretty snappy on our devices for sure
at least that's what Google claims
I'd be happy if super nexus version comes out :good: .....
The lighter version of android + pure android experience
maybe Devs will take care of that too. mackey is also a good rom .
First of all the source is out and everybody is busy with development.
Devices getting their chance to taste kitkat one by one. Galaxy nexus has tasted kitkat finally .
nexus 4 and nexus 7 have some kitkats. Some day will be our chance.
I hope it will come soon

If it was so easy now, we would have a lot of 4.4 builds.
But everyone, so called developers, are waiting for build from pawitp, because our device have some differencies.
So, wait for pawitp build and do not pretend as very good ****ty developer who will bouild from source
In my opinion we receive a lot of kitkat's rom very soon!!! for the google nexus s a rom is out! wait patiently for the porting!
Cm and slimkat have started development. But cm says they are in no hurry to release cm 11. And they are fixing compatibilities.
So we are not gonna see a working version of kitkat soon if it's dependent on pawitp.
Well this why I love this community, can't wait long enough to try this out.
Pawitp has started development:

[Q] Cm11 or Omni Rom 4.4?

CM have about 25 million users worldwide, and now Cm11 is taking a huge step forward by using this new easy way to upgrade the smartphone system. Omni Rom 4.4 is a new project, with great and promising fectures and developers. What is the best way to go? They will be nearly the same?
For me there is only CM I`m a big fan since CM 9 ...but i think you should test both and make your own decision what works better for you ...
sorry for this ,but in the end it is subjective where your own preferences are ...

I think Omnirom will be great, they're focusing their attention on under-the-hood features of great interest:
Multiwindows,
Delta update,
Reworked DSP
OmniFile
and their development plan will make Omnirom an really appreciated rom

Multi Windows!!!!? if that 's right then this will be the best ROM for i9000.
But omnirom is still in alpha mode with many issues pending to be solved.
CM nightly have very little minor bugs which can be ignored. I love it. I am using cyanAOSP 1.4.0 KitKat ROM based on CM11 and it is awesome.

There is only so much you can do, especially since you're running firmware intended for stronger devices, with dual and quad cores being the norm for ICS/JB nowadays

Cyanogenmod 9 (ics 4.0)

Hello guys. Today I tried the CyanogenMod 9 ROM based on Android 4.0 (ics). Runs very well, even much better than gingerbread 2.3.6. Unfortunately this rom, since it was never properly developed, there are still bugs like camera, wifi, mobile network seems to me, but others as well. Do you think you could focus on this rom to extrapolate a functional for our mini 2. I state that graphically and functionally would be perfect!

I would really like to see it happen ! Ultra stable cm with all features working perfectly (now cm10.1 is best so far but still there are tons of bugs )
I think there is a reason why TheWhisp didn't want to pursue this matter ..maybe because samsung announced the official jb for our phone(that turned out to be a lie...) or maybe because cm9 has a lot of bugs ..and most of them were fixed in jb ..idk , or ics requires a lot of libs and stuff that are not avalible ..unlike jb. Idk , I would like to see a very fast, stable and fully functional cm ..so, good luck !
Why not making a fully working CM7.2 for our device?
I think make a full working cm9 is like when thewhisp worked on cm10/10.1
Inviato dal mio GT-S6500 con Tapatalk 2
let someone else do the CM9
someone who knows how to do, it does not have to be a whisp
or let some ports of a device rom and make CM9
We just have to face the fact that : WE NEED MORE DEVELOPERS IN GM2
you cant expect from one guy to make everything for you
and we had a non-functional cm7 past month but the dev droped it
I cannot work on 6+ projects at the same time. At the moment I focus on cm-11 and cm-10.2, and 3.4.x kernel. If you want cm10 and cm10.1 in the same level as cm-10.2, you have to say good-bye to camera. That's why I don't release any updates for those ROMs. Try thinking for once, not spam about every ROM you want.

It's laudable attempt to convince you The Whisp to focus on a CM who can bring added value to the phone and that works really. Unfortunately The Whisp is used to finish something once you start. It works only on projects illusory .... He even told you that working on 6 projects simultaneously. How many of them go really well and can say that achieve perfection? None! Too bad! It's a good developer but is inconstant. The romanian people have a saying: "Good cheese, rough diamond." That's The Whisp!

MSM7x27a also has official support for Android 4.1. Just out of curiosity, I made a CM10 build with the latest changes from CM-10.2 builds (it uses everything that an official 4.1 ROM from Samsung would bring us), I'd it's not quite faster that the 4.3. If you really want your device to perform at its best, stick with 2.3
I have used GT-S6312 with Samsung's official 4.1.2 Touchwiz'ed Android and it is terribly slow. No wonder Samsung cancelled the update for Mini 2.
And an ICS ROM would have the same problems as any other CM ROM - crappy camera performance, white screen issue would persist etc.
