Dont see how this is possible thats the nfc unit where the sd card is being placed. No connectors are there to mount an sd card.

It has nothing to do with nfc. That spot he is using is normally empty. It is where the rear camera would be, if it had one. Sheesh. He will most likely be running his wires from somewhere else, since he has to. Does not look wired as of yet.

This Forum is not a game
Have you really something to tell us, or just you tease as you have nothing better to do at home ?
Damn some of you are pain in the asses
The mod isn't done yet. I'm waiting on a mini voltage regulator to come in so I can finish soldering stuff up. That's why its a teaser
And to you people saying its BS..that the NFC is there...shut the F up, you have no fracking idea wtf you are talking about.
Also with the sdreader I'm currently using the pcb is a bit larger then I would like so it doesn't fit perfectly in the rear camera munt hole. I'm going to trim the board a bit to get it to fit snug. Or just get a new board made with a zif connector so I can connect a ribbon able.
I still have the same issue as others do with the sdcard not being read when plugged in. I figure I should be able to tap into the rear facing camera connector pads (the pin headers are there to the right of the sdreader under the sticker) but if I do that I might need some software to be able to handle it.
Also its hard without a data sheet for the board

Comments by Jackasses and Development at XDA
It always pleases me immensely to come across such developments being made and shared here at XDA, even if I don't possess the device in question or don't have the necessary skills (or balls) to apply these hardware mods myself.
At the same time, it really saddens me to see many members here being total jackasses, responding rudely with their lameass remarks, downright DEMANDING the OP to release the work quickly, and even resorting to taunting them and calling it fake if it's taking them a while, when they have absolutely no idea about the whole thing themselves.
I am writing this post in support of all the developers like the OP here who are passionate enough about their devices to risk damaging them while applying such mods, and are more than happy to share the fruits of their labor here with the community, all without expecting ANY monetary compensation except for the appreciation of those they are kind enough to share their work with. It is completely uncalled for of the jackasses to behave rudely to them, while they are themselves not doing anything other than being free-riders, not contributing anything positive to the community, and at the same time spreading negativity with their crappy behavior.
While making use of the developments here without contributing any developments of your own is fine because obviously not everyone has the required time or skills for all of this, it's simply unacceptable to contribute negatively to a community that gives you so much for free due to the generosity of others, without asking you for anything in return. Heck, you don't even have to thank or reply at all if you choose not to; if you can't say anything positive, you can still just make use of all the developments here silently without saying anything at all. While it is encouraged and much appreciated, there's still no rule or obligation on showing appreciation being mandatory. Just don't go about being jackasses and being rude to the developers at least!
OP and other developers out there, please don't let what such jackasses say keep you from what you're doing. While there may be many of them around, there are still many of us who genuinely appreciate your work and understand the effort you put into it. Kudos to you, and thank you for making XDA what it is.
Before I finish my rant, I would request the moderators to be more strict towards such jackasses, as they contribute nothing positive here and at the same time likely drive potential developers away and harm XDA because frankly speaking, who would want to share the fruits of their labor for free with those who don't show appreciation and respond back in such a way?
Great work so far. Can't wait to see a write-up once you're finished. I'm not so steady with a soldering iron, but depending on what the procedure is I might give it a shot if it works well.

So guys I finally bought n7 today (launch day) I checked n7 for any issues it could had. Screen was ok, multitouch looked nice also...but when I filled it with some apps it just crashed to boot screen two times. First time hard reset - vol.down+power worked. Second time it was completely stucked in boot screen (X logo). Nothing helped.
So I went to the shop and instatly replaced for the brand new n7. As I came home I realised it has a bit of screen lifting (didnt see this issue in the shop). But rly I could live with it since its minor not like in the videos. But the funny thing is I tried to check out inside of n7. Somehow I couldnt detach the back So it looks like I got glued tablet. I feel special. And the shop is out of stock so yay from tomorrow im again without n7.
And...?

I wouldn't have changed so quickly. Rebooting sometimes happens. Its doesn't mean that the tablet has a defect. Since i bough mine i had 2 reboots. Apart from that it is perfect in everything.

Have to agree with this, he got a tablet, and instantly returned it instead of giving it time to settle in, then when he got his next tablet he decided that because of an issue that doesn't affect the tablet he is going to return it again. Oh but there's a twist! Seriously, this couldn't have been added to any of the other "Buyers beware" or "Screen lift" threads?

constructive critism? nop, poor trolling. So i created a topic about my problem. Your trolling is even worse and less mannered than what I did. So get out if you have nothing to say. Back to topic. The first n7 I waited, rebooted it couple of times, etc but it didnt help.
The second n7..I didnt see it was used already, even charger wasnt packed.
About for you "minor" issues. I buy a brand new product from a huge tech company. I dont expect to repair what I buy. I dont want to buy a product who is marked as "broken". Maybe for you its nothing but for me, its like 2/3 of my salary.
Maybe you love defected goods so you can fix them..I dont.

That makes no sense at all. This is the phone that works fluidly out of the box, while the SGS3 is the one you have to mod and optimize so that you undo w/e crap that Samsung + carrier (such as AT&T) put on there. Which is also the reason I got this phone.
Most people on this forum will talk about optimizing the phone beyond it's already current butter-ness, being that this is a developer's forum, but you don't have to do them. The only thing I've really done to this phone is unlock the bootloader (which you don't have to do unless you want to install custom ROM's and such).
Not sure how the SGS3 is, but I had to go through a bit with the SGS2 before it got to the level that the Nexus' are at.
Cool story bro.

Its ok
Its ok guys if he likes the s3 better. Dont complain about peoples opinions, thats why they are called opinions.
I agree with him, although I am sticking with the nexus 4. The samsung galaxy s3 is way better in stock form except for the extra bloatware. The s3 lock screen have easy access to phone app and such, the stock video player and gallery does much more then nexus and play all type of file, s3 also have unread read dot on the phone and mesage. The led notification is better stock on s3 then the nexus. Also other stuff, which may be useless but it's there if you need it like pop up player. For the nexus, I have to to download bunch of app and mod it to make it better. One of the reason I left apple is because it doesn't have much feature out of the box even if I don't need it.
On the off chance you are serious, if there is something you can't figure out I'm sure we can help.

I might be missing something here; genuine question.
Why would anybody pay US$12 for your card reader and then wait at least three months to receive the device, when they can buy something nearly identical today and get a free USB to MicroUSB adapter, all for US$5.60 including shipping?
http://www.kawau.com.cn/cn/ProductView.asp?ID=260
http://dx.com/s/c310.html?sort=Price
Is it as simple as that yours is just slightly smaller? (You don't provide dimensions, but a US quarter is approximately one inch in diameter, so it looks like your dimensions are probably about 0.8 x 0.8 inch, versus their 1.5 x 0.8 inch).
Or are you expecting your reader to offer higher throughput and/or lower power consumption than theirs, as well? What can you say about sustained read / write rates, and power consumption?
I'm genuinely curious why I would buy this. If it's just a matter of size, the difference in size is little enough that it seems unimportant, especially given it's double the cost and probably triple the time spent waiting. If it's a matter of significantly greater speed or lower power consumption though, I could see it being worthwhile.
Obviously we developed our solution*interdependently. We believe our design is better. Pretty much for any problem in this world, there are multiple solutions -- like buying smart phones, some people buy iPhones some buy Samsung Galaxy phones and yet others buy Google Nexus phones. We offer a solution to a real problem many people have. People have the freedom to choose whatever solution they like, we just offer them one more option.

dimension is 21mmx19mmx7mm with cap on. When plugged in, outside portion is 19mmx14mm. For comparison, a MicroSD card is 15mmx11mm.it is USB 2.0, read/write speed is determined by the card itself.

I asked about this on Kickstarter. They said right now, it doesn't block, but it is very close... If the plug for your headphone cord is thick (as all plugs have some variance in design) it might not work.
But he did tell me they're looking at possible work arounds or modifications to help with this...

This I found results from the phone incorrectly detecting the white balance.
It is easily fixed by pressing the picture button and holding it while your phone focuses and measures the shot. Then a second later release it and the results are a marked difference.
To those using any camera with a half and full press button this isn't a large surprise but with the trend to simple tap on smartphones I find this easily overlooked.
Thanks

He's a street dog. Someone found him as a pup in the rain and put him online. He's pretty mixed as a breed but has some hound in him. And much smaller than a mastiff :cyclops:
I didnt know about the hold focus either. I felt it wasnt obvious because the N4 unlike htc's and iphones doesnt do an instant photo. it does the shenanigan of focusing with the ring and all the jazz so one would assume it would measure its white balance then. Anyway you live and you learn

terrible battery, so wish it was better
camera hit and miss, expected better
back plastic is'nt the best feeling feels cheap
on white version the speaker phone is white on the front making it look stupid black then white there
4.4 kitkat is all google now 3 ways to access it (really) why so many irritating
first impressions is if you have it keep it, if your on the edge i would go with another phone tbh the s4 or something bit dissapointed 70 quid more then my last year nexus and not worth the warrant of the increase
Going to give my feedback nice and sweet.
Terrible Review. I learned a lot.
op is an idiot. moving along
Thanks for your initial impressions.
The battery should improve after a few more cycles, so give it some time. Others have reported good initial battery performance, which is interesting.
Early shots taken with the N5 looked really sharp and fairly comparable to the iPhone 5s. Can you elaborate where it fell short of expectations?
If the back plastic is anything like the N7, I think the feel of it is really nice and comfortable. Frankly it's a probably a better choice than having a glass back and is also part of the reason why it's so light. I don't mind this =)
OP needs a lesson on how to write reviews
Yeah. That.

How people test out battery life early on is beyond me....
It takes a full week for battery to adjust in my experience (and many times it gets WAY better in that week span).
With a review like this you should have just piggy backed off of someone elses thread.
I really hope the battery isn't terrible since coming from my Note 2 I got spoiled.
- Oh the beating the OP will endure until the ref jumps in and stops it
10/10 Best Review ever. :good:
I wish we could down vote a thread.

You can, you can give it 1 star up towards the top where it says rate.
just report the thread to the mods, which i did, thats like downvoting, if it doesn't get deleted then maybe a mod will merge it into one of the other threads

Typical fanboyism. Someone doesn't like a device everyone lines up to flame him.
Let's be frank, the N5 will fall short on all comparison reviews to all current flagship.
Just get over that fact.

i am fine with his "review" but sorry for such an small review, i think we can agree that it isn't even a review, i am fine when it gets merged into a thread

No.
We're not ribbing on the OP because we disagree with him.
We're just giving him **** because we're sick and tired of seeing stupid posts like these on the forums.
This is also not a matter of elitism or ganging up on newer members.
Anybody can write a generic, two-bit review like this one.
If you're going to post a review, have some substance and be scientific about it.
Tell us what you did on your device, what apps you have on. Don't just write oh battery sucks.
Most people just have the common courtesy to keep it in an existing thread so we don't have to see a hundred of these type of these "new posts" everyday.
The next thing you know, somebody is going to write oh the nexus 5 has such **** terrible voice quality - oh I forgot to mention I called from a dead zone in the middle of nowhere.

My review for the day one:
Positives:
-great design and shape
-screen and natural colours
-love the white "plastic" material, rather feels like ceramic tile of some sort, not plastic. great build
-speedy and responsive
Negatives:
-battery is main concern, didnt last me from 9 am to 6pm with moderate usage
-slow charging
-kitkat lacking in features and settings
-context menu missing on some apps
-3 main screen buttons (on the bottom of the screen) still taking valuable space
Will give it a go a bit longer, not making any rush decisions
