Hi,
Anyone can help why my phone can't read phone/sim contact after flashing 2.3.3 JVB? When press contact it become blank then back to main menu.
Did you back up contacts to sim before flash
Did you wipe when flashing = wipe all data .
Dont worry just use your backup to restore contacts .
Oh Dear Oh dear .
jje
I find it simplest to store contacts on Google. As soon as you add your Gmail email, automatically populates your contact list. Equally easy to manage your contacts on PC via your Gmail login.
Yes, i did back up, i can view all my contact through kies but just just view it during on my phone. On phone, when click contact it become blank a moment after that auto back to main menu.
I try to retore all contact but still can't view in phone. All contact actually still save in phone save in phone and sim but just can't read on my phone.
Try a factory reset .

Can't read SIM
After Installing android 2.3.7 via odin i had a similar problem, and i still have it, i have tried to do ''wipe data factory reset'', but still haves the problem, my problem is that the phone can't read the sim, i am using SGS I9000
If someone can help me please reply

just check, if the sim card is inserted correctly? if so check your network settings.

check if you have an IMEI, and if you have and your network settings are also fine than flash another modem , might solve it
IF you don't have IMEI, than your EFS folder has been corrupted or deleted.
click on my signature to see solutions for EFS and Codes for checking Network
If you see your contacts in KIES try an export to Vcard or VCF file.Copy this file to phone and use the import command from contacts.

like a said earlier, you have an EFS problem and some solutions for them are found in the link i posted earlier, GS 2 repair can only accomplish it, if you had a an EFS folder and had backed it up earlier ...in your case, that is corrupted, hence you not having an IMEI
I went to stock GB from an ICS ROM, and then to Helly Bean. Everything seems to work fine except any kind of networking. I cannot connect to 3G or AT&T's stuff (text messages, calls, etc.). I can connect to my wifi network and use it. In the Settings on my phone, Baseband Version and IMEI are unknown. The only thing in my efs folder in Lost and Found. I have no backups, as I wasn't aware that this problem existed.
Not sure what to do. Right now I'm leaving the SIM card and battery out for a few minutes, and then putting them back in to see if that helps. I'll probably flash a modem as well. Any suggestions? Any known fixes?
edit: Tried the battery removal and modem flashing, neither worked. Now going back to stock.
Edit2: going back to stock did nothing. I tried another SIM card, and that one also does not work.
I went back to stock GB again (third time now) and it's now recognizing my IMEI, but I still can't text or call.
Check your APN. And don't forget to backup that efs folder...just in case.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
It's not letting me look at the APN settings because it still doesn't detect a SIM card, only my IMEI.
Anything under Baseband ?? If not try flashin a modem through Odin.

Okay, I was definitely having a legitimate problem earlier, before I flashed to stock. At some point in this repair process, my SIM card ended up in my phone upside-down.... woops.
Thanks for trying to help me 4-2ndtwin.
Ooops...sh** happens lol.
Glad u got it fixed !

This thread most likely has to answer.
Check your APNs to make sure they match your carrier's.
Check your IMEI to make sure it matches the one with your phone. If it's not the case, you'll need to go back to stock KK4, backup your efs folder with a app that has root rights (like ES File Explorer) and restart the falshing process.
A good backup would be suggested before going to stock!
same problem baseband is unknown and imei is null. help

Thats mostly a Samsung issue, on HTC`s and most other phones EFS data is on a separate non-removable partition. There is usaualy no need to backup this partition.

You will have to get it back first. You may have to flash a stock RUU and that may help.

HTC doesn't have a EFS partition. You must be coming from a Samsung device. No? That's why you asking that.

I don´t have the unit in my possession anymore.
But tried all tips and tricks posted around the net. Maybe only with Z3X box, or at Samsung.

Hey guys,
I've got a real noob issue with mine.
It came to me with null imei, and using the tools i have i was fairly sure i knew how to fix it and what was required, except the phone wouldnt take any of the box flashes i was trying to flash to it. It wouldnt take the imei_baseband fix at all. It just kept failing.
So, instead of trying 1 file md5 flash i thought i would try a FULL flash. However, apart from the CSC file i didnt know what order the files went in, so, instead of waiting and researching it, i just guessed. As you guessed it, the phone crapped out, and now i get the recovery error and it will only go to download mode.
These are the names of the files i got:
AP_I9305XXUEMKC_2051278_REV00_user_low_ship_tar.md5
BL_I9305XXUEMKC_2051278_REV00_user_low_ship_tar.md5 ( <--- i assumed this was boot file and left it alone)
CP_I9305XXUEMK1_REV06_CL1247969.tar.md5
THe other files were a CSC named file which i knew where it want and a pit file, which again i know where that goes, its just them 3 above....where do tehy need to go in Odin??
I'd really apprecaite your guys time on this.
Best Regards
STICKYS

Hey, everyone, I need some help:
On my SM-920G, I re-installed stock 6.0.1 (last official update before 7.0) and, now, I don't have access to the network (says emergency calls only). IMEI and serial number are both intact. What can I do to regain access to my network? I know it's not a motherboard problem because it happened after flashing stock software. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP.
Thank you,

Did you install the right firmware for your region? You should check that or flash right modem file. If all else fails use kies to restore phone to factory or flash a custom rom and check if everything works.

So, I actually had to have an IMEI change... Long story - but, my question now is: is it possible to return to stock (completely stock) and NOT lose my IMEI number? I've heard some people say, "yes," and O be heard some people say, "no." Is it possible?

I don't think there is any risk of losing IMEI if you flash stock with odin, but if you have root then firstly take an efs backup, just in case, efs is where your IMEI is stored.

If you have root then in the root folder you will find a folder called efs. Just copy it and save it to your SD card or your computer. If you have custom recovery then you can save it from the backup option but I guess that won't help much if you flash stock with odin then it will remove your custom recovery. There are also some apps on the play store but I never used them, I use the first method.

Yeah, I'm just on stock, so that won't work - but, now I have another issue:
So, here's what happened... I got my IMEI changed, and all was good. But, then I realized that my phone was rooted. I tried to flash magisk to have magisk installed, and then my phone wouldn't boot up. Afterwards, I flashed stock to restore official device status, but when I did so, I realized that my network wasn't working. My IMEI (clean IMEI) is still showing, but I DO NOT have any access to my network and can't search the web or anything. What could be the issue, and what is the easiest way to fix it?

Did you flash the correct firmware? The same region as it was when it was working? Flashing a stock rom from a different region sometimes causes this and you need to flash the right one or at least the 'modem' file of the right one to get it working. Or you could use Samsung Kies software to completely recover your phone to its original state when it was bought. Also, What do you mean by saying changed IMEI? Did it not show it correctly or got corrupted and you fixed it? or you changed it completely to a different one from the original?
If you have a good IMEI just call your provider and give them your IMEI and your sim card numbers.

CodeNameRedNeck,
So, I have a good IMEI number, but I cannot register the network service. It tells me "Emergency Calls Only" even though it shows a signal in the top right hand corner. Are you saying that I just need to call TIGO (I am in Bolivia) and register my IMEI number as well the SIM card numbers - or, could it be that there is an even deeper issue? Also, which SIM card numbers are you talking about? Thank you, my friend.

Mufrad,
I completely changed the IMEI to a clean one because, apparently, when I traded for the Note 5 (I am in Bolivia, and that's what people do here), the original IMEI was put on the blacklist. So, now I have a completely different IMEI that is clean (unreported), but I do not have any network access at all - furthermore, when I access the menu using *#0011#, it says "IMEI Status: NG" under IMEI Status. I'm not sure if it's a software problem? I have a friend looking at the phone, but I do not have any idea how it's going because he still hasn't been able to fix it.
