Has anyone seen this before? I've had my Nexus since the release and. Ever had a problem. I watched some TV on it last night, used it this morning for a few minutes before it shut down because of low battery. I put it on the charger and came back to it later.
Fired it up and the screen is all washed out around the edges, and there are signs of hysteresis. I updated CM10, everything seemed OK, but after a minute, the screen went all flickery black and shut down.
So I'm contacting Google now...
Wholy ****, looks like LCD burn.
I would send it back for warrenty if I were u!
I kind of think it looks cool. Makes everything you look at seem like it's in a dream.

Hi there, just got my Kasier yesterday and was working fine, but took it out of the belt case on getting to work and the screen is super washed-out and white. You can still barely make out some words etc. but something is definately wrong. Rebooting the normally red version numbers in the bottom right are a light cyan/blue! Any ideas? Only other weird thing is battery was down to 77% at 8:15 am from full at 6:30am with about 30 mins WiFi use. Unit gets hot with WiFi but not crazy so, and is not hot now. Rebooting doesn't fix the issue. Help!!!! Thanks for any ideas...(and yes already notified MadMonkeyBoy of the problem since I got it from him).
happend 1year ago with my tytn
Hi,
This behaviour happend to me 1 year ago with my Tytn. since this happend just before my hollidays, I open a ticket to HTC europe, they request me to send it back for repair. When I return from vacation (I let the battery out), I just checked before sending it, and... it was fine... never happend again...
My advice... let it rest a little... you stressed it 2 much...
Now serious... send it to HTC.
Regards,
Joao
does the case have a magnet to hold it closed? i thought i read somewhere on XDA that the when the phone is in a case with a magnet it can cause some problems; i don't recall, though, if this caused problems with the screen... i'm interested to hear feedback, thoughts from other "real" experts.

The case that comes with the Kaiser is not one with Magnets. Similar pouch style but with a tape/velcro fastening.
Having said that I'm using a Hermes case with magnets. It does no harm, though it can operate the screen orientation switch according to reports. In addition it can (again according to reports and tested by me) actually turn the device on from standby so you could drain your battery using such a case.

This happened to me last night. Anyone got any answers? I'm using a Krussel case with a magnet. Phone only bought recently second-hand off ebay - just a few weeks. Gutted here.
Sorry to dig up a thread from the dead, but I just had this happen tonight. It looks EXACTLY like the pics in the OP's post. Has anyone ever found a solution to this problem? Even LCD replacement? I don't mind replacing the LCD If I know it will fix the problem. My fear is buying a replacement LCD and finding out it is some other hardware problem, and I don't want to waste the money on an LCD if it's not the issue at hand.
When i woke up this morning and went to check on my x1, there was a sudden fog around the phone, like if i look at it, you can see a perfect oval in the middle, and the rest around the edges are just fogged up.
After prob a hour or so, the phone went back to normal.
Got any idea why such randomness happens?
Well, i was browsing in bed for like 2 min under the bed when i randomly woke up just about 2 hours before I realised the fogginess.
Water in the device would be my guess. Once inside in warm conditions it will evaporate towards the screen.
Lol yeah, thats exactly what i was thinking.
But just wanted to check if anyone had such experiences.
I wasn't sure at first when it happened, thought the LCD may have been dead or something :/
Thanks anyway

Hello all,
it looks like someone shot through my display. Suddenly it has some dead pixels,
arranged in a circle. This happend after a 40 centimeter drop down. The phone was
saved by a very thick bag, named 'airbag'. So I did not expect that anything happened
to the phone.
Searching this forum brought up that this could be 'Newton rings'. But in my case it
does not look like it has anything to do with the digitizer. It works like usual. Anyway,
I tried out the suggested trick to freeze it. It was frozen for 36 hours. But it had
almost no effect. The pixels are just a bit more spread over the screen. They are still
black, did not get brighter or change to gray.
Has anyone an idea what happened and how I can fix it?
Thanks in advance
Try waiting for 2 days, fixed it for mine.
I have the same problem, my phone felt almost a meter down some months ago and I got some dead pixels. And the freaking htc service here in greece sucks, so I haven't fixed it yet
guys tell me, what is this "freezing trick" you're talking about?
So I`m on AT&T (More people here to see this) I had to get my 2 month old HTC One replaced it was PERFECT! Perfect screen, No gaps, no issues. Plugged it up one afternoon and it started smoking (Even WITH HTC Cable and charger) Plugged it up 3 different times and it started smoking melted that charger port good! haha.
Anyway AT&T Sent a "Referb" Replacement Its got some scratches and scuffs lightly like it was used! (I like changing phones a lot so it kinda hurts resell) But everything else about the phone seems Great! besides that But I called and they sent another replacement which would be replacement #2
I got it seemed to be referbed no scratches in good shape! But the screen had a yellowish Tint! very noticable when holding two HTC One`s Together.
Replacement #3 which I got today was BRAND NEW it had the No Txting And driving Slip that use on NEW phones Phone has a TINY gap not enough to be bothersom but screen has a Warmish tint and looks to have some red tint on the Bottom Right conner that kinda bleeds up a little bit. I called and there sending another one!
So After having the phone on after about an hour it seems no where near as bad as it was when I first turned it on with the red tint issue still a bit warm though is there any curing time with these screens?
HI.
I've unfortunately caught my XT890's screen with what was probably a set a of keys and have pushed the frame away from the glass at the Sim and SD card slot so that there is approx. a 4 mm gap between the glass and the frame ( the sealant is visible).
The phone's screen continued to work perfectly for about a day until I pushed the frame back into place and appear to have done some damage as the screen slowly stopped working - I had a section of black that appeared at the top of the screen and slowly crept down the screen, which went purple first then black , creeping down the sides of the screen first, then filling in the middle until the full screen is black. I think I've also lost the digitizer input, as I can no longer turn the 6am alarm off on it.. and I can't take out the battery either :S
I've "rebend" the frame to the original damage, but this has had no impact in reverting the screen to "usable".
The glass looks complete - no cracks or anything, so I'm really not sure if replacing the glass screen and digitizer pre-build as a "frame" will fix the problem, or not. At ~£30 for the part on a phone worth ~£70, I'd like to understand if its' worth the risk or just to buy a replacement outright.
Has anyone had similar experience with this?
lol, never seen that before. Looks like the liquid inside the screen slowly dropped out and damaged some internal parts. This will certainly needs replacements. But unless u can do it your self i would consider buying a new one.
How did u bend your phone sides on the first place? (i never tried it, but it seems very sturdy)
I have absolutely no idea how I managed this - I was up a ladder at the time and must of inadvertently put a leatherman or keys in the same pocket as the phone and then "trapped" it so that it pushed sideways on exactly the weak spot of the simcard slot. I'll upload a picture of the damage for prosperity.
I didn't think AMOLED had liquid in them, but that would correlate with the affect I had - it must of been a tiny, tiny hole :S.
Such as shame after 2 years of perfect operation - and I had hoped for another year instead of procuring a new phone as it did the job so well.
Yep, I'm happy to replace it myself, I've done 4 or 5 screens on a Defy before, and this looks simpler.
PS - it looked very similar to the pictures in this, so that's positive in some ways!

I cracked my screen and bought a new with digitizer. was very easy to replace just follow the youtube video about disassemble razr i.
You will also need some glue though for the stupidly placed motorola logo..
i bought mine from ebay for less than 20 euro. but it has some wierd greenish color in the top where the statusbar is. its not visible when holding the phone vertical. but when holding horizontel its alittle noticeable. not a problem at all but just be carefull going for the cheap ones.
