haha yes im using swype on my tablet so there went something wrong i think
CHANGED!
i flashed the latest error prone cwm and luckily didn't have any issues. now im contemplating flashing back the old one 6.0.0.8 i think but i don't want to risk getting a brick whilst flashing back the old cwm.
does the brick only occur when formating something? is there any further info on that.
i think i will just keep my tab running as it is for the time being until there really is the need to flash sth (ie ics 7300 coming out) then i will try and go back to the old cwm

i have problem after using cm10 preview and the cmw from kallt_kaffe thread , it's probably cmw that caused the problem because JB was running smooth without any issues but when i tried to restore the stock HC the cmw stuck for some time but i was able to return back to HC .
after this the device was lagging a lot and couldn't enter cmw again the screen was black but the device still wasn't dead , i managed to turn it off and reboot it again and used it for two days before it's completely dead and connects only as APX device, i will try you the first method you posted and post back here .
there also this method form tab 10.1 sections for the unlocked devices: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130574]
my device is locked and can't Bass (rcm version 0x4) error . so if there is anyone can help figuring out or providing the secure boot key for the locked devices that will be great .
Im not really sure what makes this bugs happen..
But this issues is not new for me in galaxyNOTE gt n7000 and Sgs2 I9100 we call this as EMMC superbrick..
It happen in ICS kernel stock if you operates some EMMC_CAP_ERASE in kernel such as wiping your data or system.. Format.. Or deleting large file in recovery operation or factory reset in EMMC with firmware revision 0x19(firmware of this chip)..
It cannot recover with regular utility like JTAG coz This superbrick makes EMMC faulty in /data partition or /system partition blocks..
If you go to Samsung Service Centre.. Your device should be on mainboard replacement..
Sorry for my english.. You could use this app for testing your emmc has a bug or not..
If you had the emmc bug.. Dont use any recovery from ICS sources until someone with expert knowledge confirm that everything is fine..
Please read this thread for complete issues and discuss..from recognized developer entropy512
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633938
Edit:
After testing i got my EMMC had a bugs warning from chainfire got brick bug app...

I've tested my tab apparently it got the bug too. So, have anyone know what the problem exactly? Is it the ICS kernel or CWM which causing the brick?

Is it safe to flash KK's CM10 ROM cause it still using GB kernel? And what CWM version to use for flashing? I know CWM versions 5. cannot use to flash CM10. Thanks

Use CWM 6.0.0.8 NOT CWM 6.0.1.2!
You still have the 2.6.36.4.... Kernel Yes I know You can just upgrade to cm10 no problem!

I can't recall reading that before... What happens if you would do so?
Kallt_kaffe is currently recommending 6.0.0.8, post 2 of cm9 thread.
I heard of changes in the nandroid backup file structure in 6.x that I don't like, personally, but that's IMHO I'm still on 5.1 because the menu structure of 5.5.0.4 is incomplete (e.g. no shutdown)

From what I remember from the cm10 or AOSP JB thread, somebody tried to use cwm 5. to flash cm10 and he was getting error massage and cwm won't let it flash. That is why persoot and KK recommend cwm 6.
Could someone confirm using the good old CWM 6.0.0.8 or below and has flash ICS kernel and do wipe recover and survive the brickbug? Thanks.

Hi guys, I really need some help. Every ROM I install gets this weird display problem. It changes the screen to like 4-bit color, and sometimes just blue, and sometimes red. I tried almost all ROMs i can get my hands on, and they all do the same.
I'm really new at this and here are the steps I have taken to root my phone and install the ROMs:
I followed this guide to install GOT in my milestone. I purchased my Milestone online, so I wasn't sure it's origin. It says EMEA in my About Phone page, so I went with the G.O.T RETAIL EUROPE (RTEU) version. I was stuck in one of the steps in the recovery mode where I have to apply the update.zip to get into OpenRecovery. It greeted me with the an error message. I did some googling and found out it might have something to do with the vulnerable recovery. So i downloaded it and flashed my phone. Somehow, that worked. I have used the G.O.T thing for about a day and decided to install the ROMs. First, I deleted the G.O.T Openrecovery file from the sd card and copy the ANDROIDIANI files into sd card. I also did the wipe dvlivk/data/cache before applying the ROM. And the clock speed is in default.
What did I do wrong?? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Here's how screen looks like:

I hope you'll be answered shortly..
may I suggest you to flash stock rom.. from the following link

hope this will help
Thanks for the respond. I forgot teo mention that the 2.2.1 G.O.T SBF that I flashed with does not have this problem. But it presents in all the different ROMs that i have tried. This is so weird. Anyone have any idea of what might cause this problem?
I'm sorry to bring up this post, but I can barely use my phone because of this problem. I desperately need help with this. My english is not very good. Can someone please provide the correct words to describe my problem. So i can do some proper google search and hopefully, it will come up with something.
if by spf you are not having this problem, true?
then, can you give us an example of one rom you used that creat this problem?
I tried the Froyo Mod, Cyanogen Mod, Cronos Mod, MIUI mod and HoboMod. They all have the same problem. =(
I still can't a solution to my problem yet. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
So just to be sure... it runs fine on a stock rom right?
Most roms when they install they are overclocked.
Did you try setting the clock back to 550mhz after installing one of these roms?
Also, maybe one of the new leaks will work for you.
that's weird, sorry but I can't help
Really weird. You can try to do all again. Put the original SBF file and the using ANDROIANI openrecovery put a Ho!no nandroid or other system with a nandroid archives.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to try that now.
I'm trying to get the original sbf from this page. http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone
The thing is that I live in the US and I got mine from Newegg.com. Which one should i download??
EDIT: What is the difference between service and non service?
Never have that problem. Maybe should flash back to stock to see if hardware problem.
It works fine with the stock ROM and the GOT SBF. And with anything else, I will get that stupid screen. =( This is so weird. I have flashed back to stock ROM. And now, how do I install HO!NO!? I can't seem to get into the Open Recovery with the Stock ROM. Any help please??
EDIT: When every time I install a new ROM, I don't get that problem until like after 10 minutes when I installed a bunch of apps. Could it be the apps that I installed that caused that problem??? But it's the same apps that i run in the GOT SBF.
which apps are you applying?
try adding by group, or left out any game (can be a problem).
Are the apps ready for your phone? perhaps some app is for other phone and works bad in MM.
Yo mention that applying the ROM works UNTIL applying apps, so it is very possible that some app is not for your hardware or need some special feature from display.

Did the OP try this...it seems like the most likely explanation.
Your phone could be very bad at overclocking. My first milestone was, but it didnt experience these exact symptoms.
Try flashing a rom and downclocking it to around stock (550 or 600).
Your phone could be fine until it heats up due to the 3g/wifi being used. Combine this with the added heat of upped vsels €nd you have general weirdness.

I have this exact same problem - when I used the stock rom on my hong kong milestone and overclocked modestly (800 52vsel) I was fine. As soon as I installed my first rom (in my case Shadowmod 2.5 via update.zip from AOR 3.3) I had this problem. It happens most often when the keyboard is open.
In additon to the screen yellow/red colour problem it will also just go blank, while the touch buttons stay lit. For either problem, simply turning the screen off and on again using the power button clears it, so it is more annoying than a show stopper.
Now I am using the APAC jan 25 leak and still have the issue. I only used an sbf to install the vulnerable recovery, and have used nandroid/updates to install everything else (never used the GOT thing). SBFs are annoying for me as I have a mac.
Anyway, I plan to recover my stock 2.1 nandroid and see if the problem is still there. Too bad, I love the battery life of the 2.2 roms, and the apps2sd native as well.

Wow I thought I was the only one with this problem. I have been testing with different kernels and ROMs. Well, basically every ROM posted on this forum, and the new and old kernels. I have also tried the leaked 2.2.1 sbf as well as the offical 2.2.1 release SBF(UK and EU version). Played with different clock speeds. They all have the same issue. The only thing that doesn't have that issue are the original 2.1-update1 and the GOT sbf. I'm using GOT sbf so I could use app2sd, but the battery life is absolutely horrible.

hi there reader, welcome to this thread will this will keep you up to date with the x8, custom kernels, custom roms, bugs with fixes, no signal bug in a rom and plenty more here. this will be updated each week.
remember, before you post a new thread search this post for the question and the answer, if you cant find it here then use the search button and if you cant find it then, you may post a new thread or post a reply here< either with a q or a normal replyAND DONT SPAM THIS THREAD!!!OR POST REPLY'S SAYING THANKS, THERE IS A THANKS BUTTON FOR THAT!!
Anyway, back to the thread!
if you need to root your phone.
Dont know what rooting is?
A: Well, it gives you superuser access, like running as a special administrator. having superuser rights means you can also modify your system, installing modification's and much much more.If you would like to root your phone then click here
done that? if you did splendid
right so now you'v rooted your phone you are in top controll now.
if you have cypress multitouch for your x8 then this should activate your special chip: here
if you have synaptics fake pinch to zoom then click this little link: here
great stuff, isn't it!
now to recoveries...
firstly xrecovery. this is sort of the main recovery for our x8. you can install doixanh's roms through it well at least v013 or lower now that he switched and now needs cwm recovery to install now.
you can also install rachts roms as well
Q: How do i install rachts roms because it wont work through updating custom zip ot choosing a custom zip!
A: what you do, is you unrar the file. you can use winrar, or what i have:RAR File Open Knife - Free Opener. which is an open source project that works a treat. my dad uses it too. he told me to get it since its easier to use...
anyway once you unrared the file, put the file into xrecovery>backup and save it to there.
After that, boot into xrecovery on your x8 and go to: Backup/Restore>restore then chose that rom you saved in there.
Q:why are there no more updates for rachts roms?
A: The thread got closed, so there will be no new updates, you will have to make fixes yourself.
Next up cwm recovery: This is hard to get for our phone. it comes preinstalled in gingerdx's roms
if, however you dont use a gingerdx rom, then you can manualy install it by clicking here
cwm is more advanced than xrecovery.
Q: is there anything special i need app i need to get to install xrecovery?
A: Yes! Its called busybox. its from the android market. once you have installed that, open the app and it will come up with which version to install, click the OLDEST version because new versions are not compatible with it. to install and learn a little more click here
the only reason its for x10 mini is because other versions such as v02 and v03 do not work with the x8. and because the x8 and x10 mini are very close relatives!
Did you get any of them?
now to roms:
heres the link to all rachts roms! remember, i said how to install them earlier... here
heres froyobread by doixanh: here
heres gingerdx also by doixanh: this
Install doixanh's roms the normal way>install update.zip
or> custom.zip!
gingercruzt rom: here
gingerxperia rom: here
install these the normal way too.
those are just main and recognized roms. the other roms you will have to search for yourself.
Now for the Questions and Answers!
Q: gingerdx seems to have a battery drain, how do i fix it?
A: battery drain seems only with a few people, boot into xrecovery, do a battery wipe.
Q:What is the best overclock frequency for the x8?
A: 710Mhz, you can go higher if your lucky but most of the time anymore and it becomes unstable.
so 710Mzh is the most stablest...
Q: can i get flash player for my phone?
A: Yes you can! all those people who disagree, they obviously dont research on this stuff! heres the link to adobe flash player 10.2 for armv6: here
Q:can i play gameloft games for my x8 such as modern combat, n.o.v.a?
A: yes you can. i have modern combat sandstorm and N.O.V.A for my phone. just google eg. n.o.v.a hvga
or n.o.v.a x8...
Q:help! iv bricked my x8, what do i do???
A: if you can get onto the se logo then boot into xrecovery and restore a working backup.
if that didnt work, restore it through seus (sony ecricsson update service)
Q:should i update the su binary?
A: no, for lots of people it leaves them with a broken su without working binary! never do that.
Q: there seems to be a camera bug in my rom!
A:lots of roms have trouble with camera.apk! also devs found it hard to make a new one so they started porting stock eclair's camera.apk and modifying it to make it work and look like a froyo or gingerbread camera
Q: which is rom is most dtable for our x8 out of froyo, gingerbread, honeycomb and ics?
A: Froyo because its a next platform up which makes it more stable and run faster, although there are some pretty good gingerbread roms out there, i myself use gingerdx. honeycomb is really no point sice it was made for devices with bigger screens and ics is out there it will just run like a snail racing an athlete...
Q:my market isnt working, it wont install the app/apps i want, iv tried everything but still it wont work!
A:click this
it should work, its the old market from android 2.1 i think. i must give a thanks to dimitrisioa for providing an answer to a question with this situation. he provided the link, thanks man
Q: what is freexperia and fxps cm7 project?
A: its a cm7 rom. The only reason I don't have it is because they rerote the entire kernal and ect. There is a link to their rom in the 3rd post
Q: my wifi keeps on switching on and off! is there any solution?
A: yes, try doing a full wipe in xrecovery/cwm. if that doesn't work then try wiping davlik cache/cache.
if that doesn't work then reinstall the rom. do both wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache.
if that doesn't work then find a wifi fix or get a new rom.
Q: got a question?
A: post it here!!
just remember, we dont accept trolling or flame wars here.

FOR TESTING AS I DO NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT PHONE SENT TO ME YET
Based on 03D gingerbread. Heavily themed with a stock like look... just does not have a stock LG look.
This is not my first rom. I have modded and/or ported roms for the x10 and the motorola bravo. I am slowly getting used to lg files.
This rom is a diet of the original with some tweaks. Thanks to all the other developers in the thrill and o3d Roms. My base file is used gingerbread 21a with some parts of framework from THAIZ (used mainly for battery step xml. It is overclocked with THAIZ kernel and picked up on some modding tricks from several developers. You can use most gingerbread kernels from 03D with this rom. I will add miscellaneous files to be added later i.e. games, and apps.

Must have cwm recovery to install and already be on the gingerbread baseband or Gingerbread 03D rom from kdz. Tutorials for gingerbread are in the development section of 03d and thrill. This install does not erase data so you may have to manually erase in recovery menu depending on what rom you come from. PLEASE USE APN BACKUP AND RESTORE IN MARKET BEFORE INSTALLING
Just put in sdcard and install as zip in recovery.
Widgets and other files that can be installed by market are not included in rom.

Can you post up a link to the GB baseband for the Thrill? I went perusing around the O3D forum and didn't see it there.
Thanks in advance.

I find it to be pretty much bs that GB is out yet to get official ATT update we have to wait for them to dumb down the system and add their bloat. I probably wont even update to it when it comes out i will just flash baseband and keep this euro open version, much nicer not being restricted.

Do you have the gingerbread baseband?
i'm wondering what tweaks need to be applied to the o3d rom to make it stable on our thrill.
I'm happy with King 3D except I have a wierd battery issue. When I reboot the device, i lose 30% of my battery and have to recharge. It seems like a software issue because on stock roms that issue doesn't happen.
King 3D is an 03D rom, so im thinking its something slightly different, perhaps you've cracked it.
I don't know what he did to tweak his Rom.. Probably a memory leak causing it

Hello guys,
I am having the same problem as mafiadesi: I HAVE NO PHONE OR MOBILE NETWORK CONNECTIVITY. AND ALSO, MY HOME SCREEN AND ALL THE SCREENS DOES NOT SHOW THE NOTIFICATION BAR.
"1. i have no network connection. im an AT&T customer, but im not getting any signal or data. when i go into the APN setting area, it says "reorganizing internal processes. please try again after a short while."
This is what I did, I restored my Thrill to the Android 2.2 stock, and then I used this method on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343915
It worked fine to get to the stock android 2.2.
Then i used his step 23 to install the O3D ROM. It looked okay, but it had no mobile connectivity neither.
"23. Boot into CWM recovery and wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, install zip from sdcard, choose zip from internal sdcard, select Rom. Reboot system and enjoy."
I used the GB_P920.zip to get to the O3D rom.
So, I repeated the method to go to new GBP925 using the same method, and like I said, the cellular modem or radio and the notification is not showing.
PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I DID WRONG, AND WHERE I COULD FIND THIS BASEBAND, AND HOW TO INSTALL IT, IF YOU THINK THAT IT IS MISSING.
THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Maybe try the kdz method first.

Hi
Thanks for the quick reply. I just tried the KDZ method of this site:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287236
I used the V21A_00.kdz file ... and I had no error messages that I could noticed,... It finished the upgrade, and then the phone rebooted and stayed on a loop, with teh LG logo and the lg animation... I tried removing the battery and but now it is stuck on this loop boot.
I tried the recovery mode, (Vol - + Power button) and it goes to the Android recovery, and no longer the CWM recovery. The only option now is the to errase all data. But even that option is not available.. the Power button option to say Yes does not respond, so the only option is the pull the battery.
I am stuck.. please help me. any ideas?
I am thinking about going back to Stock 2.2, if i can do that.. i will try it now.
Everyone is in a panic (well almost everyone), how many of you guys are braving it out on the ICS release with CF Kernel?

I too, am on LPY and everything is fine. while others have issues on battery and wifi, i don't have these problems. i just can't change boot animation.
previous: LC1 with CF-Root for LC1
current: LPY with CF-Root for LPY
4 me LPY and CF is working great. There was no problems on flashing LPY nor the CF-.
Ps. Battery life is so good with ICS vs GB.. I used to get 14h via GB and had to put it to charge (medium usage) and with ICS i have been running on battery 20h36min and still got 39% battery. (3g/HSDPA+ on all the time and email syncs and Gps)..
And screen mode Dynamic and brightness around 35%...
Never gona go back to GB..
No problems for me. Its all cool.
In fact wifi on mine is mad - its giving me a rock solid connection over a much wider range than i had on the Chinese repack version.
Fully rooted ICS here (CF-Kernel). No problems so far. Flashing was smooth apart from some self-inflicted problems which caused the loss of my data. Luckily I had a backup
dont see hwat the big fuss is about to be honest. sure, a few people have had major problems, but that is just a couple out of a community of several thousand. Sure it sucks for thoose who have had problems, but its a very small minority.
back to the op, yes i am sticking with it
No problems with CF here too... expect that it didnt automatically install S note which it did on the first boot up on stock ICS without CF root.
Did anyone else have a missing S note after mobile odin flash?

I installed cfroot kernel with LPY simultaneously. I had to reboot twice for the "installing apps" message to appear. But it installed snote fine. I did full wipe. Flashed thru mobile odin pro

Really? That's interesting, S Note installed with a few extra applications on start-up. I used Mobile Odin with the untouched LPY.

Im currently running LPY everooted with mobile odin. I am however NOT using the CF Root kernel at this moment in time.
Well i had not wiped, so maybe that is why the issues were faced.
Thanks to Dr. Ketan, I tried the other method that gives a stock LPY root permissions without adding CWM. so ill have to flash that manually whenever i see custom roms or need a backup.
But for the moment the objective has been met... rooted to use titanum backup, SetCPU and Adfree... works for me.
with SetCPU i am able to address my battery drain to quite an extent..atleast the standby has gone up tremendoously compared to the first 2-3 hrs before SetCPU install.
for those looking for the alternative method given by Dr. Ketan, click here
Well I am on LPY with CF Kernel at the moment via the Mobile Odin method, but I'm suffering with worse battery life than Ginger Bread.
Is there anything I can try to remedy this?
Also, what are the steps I need to take if I want to go back to Ginger Bread? Can I use Mobile Odin?
Thanks
never flashed cf_root in the first place, what does it even do?
well, I just got rid of cf rooted kernel,
my flashing history is as follows:
Updated the note when I bought it 4 weeks ago with OTA to LC1
then rooted phone using abyss Kernel using abyss 4.2 and ended up with root
and a yellow triangle and flash count 1.
I used the note with LC1 for 2 weeks, then flashed Cyanogen 9 V3 -V7.
while I was on Cyanogen, I purchased Triangle away and worked like a charm resitting the flash count back to Zero and got rid of the yellow triangle.
when official ICS was released, I purchased mobile Odin and flashed with keeping root to ICS LPY.
then did a Wipe to data and delvick Cache using stock rom manager with no problems.
after that I restored all my apps using titanium back up.
then using Mobile Odin I flashed CF LPY kernel.
did couple backups but never restored. then horror stories started emerging and scared the hell out of me, so I have been contemplating getting rid of CF kernel ever since.
I took the plunge 10 minutes ago with total success.
here is what I did:
I unfroze all system apps that I have frozen.
Made sure that there was no apps were running.
put the phone into airplane mode and no wifi.
flashed the official LPY rom on top of the old keeping everything ticked.
all went well and took around 2 minutes.
Now I have official kernel with ever root, still being able to use titanium backup to freeze and back up my apps and have no adds running.
Hope this help someone who is worried for having the CF LPY kernel.
Cheers
I'm sticking with it for now, but I don't seem to have full root (cannot delete files in system/apps) but I do have root enough for things like Titanium. Does anybody know if this is normal?

Thanks for the reply. Guess something went wrong somewhere along the line. I haven't tried with root explorer (been using es file explorer with root option checked) but I don't want to derail this thread. I guess it's time for me to figure out where things broke down!

I flashed LPY over stock GB rom (UK CPW 2.3.6) and the update went really well and I have rooted. It is working fine only comment I would make is that the resulting touchwiz launcher seems a bit laggy and I have been afraid to do a wipe after all of the hype about CWM. I am staying with ICS LPY though.
So, yesterday I flashed Cynogenmod 11.0 on my Kindle Fire HD 7. After sometime I noticed that the left speaker isnt working at all. Right one is working fine. I tried to Reset and Flash again, but nothing is helping.
I have some other issues with the new ROM, but this one is major.
Thanx,

CM11 is in it's infancy still. If this is not an issue with 4.3 ROMs I would just post a note in Hashcodes thread and drop back to 4.3 until there are some updates so things work better. I didn't have that issue but all hardware is not made equally.

Thank you for the reply, one more thing. Videos doesn't work as they used to on Stock ROM. And the system crashes frequently. Are the previous versions more stable?
Can suggest me a ROM? I use Kindle for Internet and Movies, suggest me a ROM accordingly.
Thanx again.

I use 4.3.1 JB CM10.2 (recently refreshed) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2388341 I also use 3.99 Paranoid Android 4.3 JB. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270831 Those are the two I use but I can't suggest a ROM directly to you or the mods will not like it. The best I can say is read through the topics before deciding on a ROM and see which ones are still having some heavy beta testing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire-hd/7-development
Edit: Goo.img is still getting their servers straitened out so downloads from there can be corrupted and not flash. For now, look for crackflasher mirrors in OP's or a download option from some other cloud/server.

I Flashed the 4.3 now, but same issue. So I went back to the Stock Amazon OS. But it didnt fix it either, I think its a hardware problem. I followed many Discussions about problem, But havent found a Solution yet. Sadly, I cant get a Replacement besause the Warranty is over.
I just want to know what caused this? FACTORY cable?
Try finding a place whers they sell the speaker and replace it. Its fairly easy to take kindle apart... Ive done it just to get the experience in case i needto replace something

You can try going back to bone stock with no root and let Amazon update to 7.4.6. A complete factory reset is one of the better ways to fix bugs. Not just using a restore tool but full restore. I had a glitch like that one time. Other than that, perhaps you do have a weak speaker or a loose wire.

If I do that, I mean back to stock with no root and update to 7.4.6. Will I be able to root again and Flash a Custom ROM afterwards?
And whats the procedure to do that (back to bone stock). I did a factory Reset yesterday also, but Kindle was still having Root.

Sure you can. Removing root does not remove the little super user app even though your table no longer has root. Use the same binary tool you rooted with. Here's a video Arash did that can help you a bit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpN6f0OqX3s
Thank you both of you. Its fixed now. Here is what I did, I simply opened the back cover to see how the speakers were connected and will I be able to Replace one myself or not. I played a music track to see if both the speakers of One side were working or just one. The moment I played a track I noticed that the volume was somehow increased. So, I cheked all the speakers one by one, and they all worked just fine.
I dont know what solved this, maybe wiring was lose or someting. I was lucky I guess
Thanx Both of you again.
But I still think that the Volume of Left speakers is low as compared to Right speakers. I will still Unroot My Kindle and Restore it to Factory settings just to be sure. And if evryting went well, I will Flash Kinnoloy tomorrow.
Now i have this problem with right, thankfully i got 2 kindles..... Also an offtopic suggestion, seems buying a broken digitizer screened kindle is cheaper than buying motherboard.
