P1000T vs P1000? - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know with the i9000T I needed to get a special modem to make it work, but I cannot find if this is the case with the P1000T.
What are the caveats of using the P1000T with P1000 roms? Do I need special modems or can I just flash the standard P1000 roms onto my P1000T?

Just use your original modem.
This T model is it Telstra modem?

What do you mean by international I9000? Also, how do I know if my phone is international I9000?
Any phone from outside of north America is international unless you brought it in south Korea and Japan.

Noob question... What version of Tab (Telstra) do I actually have?

Hi. My Tab is a GT-P1000T (note the T at the end). It was bought in Australia from Telstra. On the back, it has Telstra logo. Also start up logo is Telstra. It is branded but SIM/carrier unlocked.
Is this device actually same hardware as stock GT-P1000 and the T only identities it as Telstra branded? Or is it a different beast?
I ask this because I want to know if I can safely flash the stock gingerbread rom to it without it bursting into flames ;-)
Any thoughts on this? Anyone with the same Telstra branded model successfully flashed to gingerbread & ALL functions still working?
Thanks.

Flashing gt vzw

I only use my tab on wifi, so the modem has no effect on me. I want to know if I can flash any rom regardless of base band version since I don't use data. I can always omit the modem, but will it work?

Yes, the Bell (North American) version GT-I9000M has the same insides as the International version GT-I9000. If I remember correctly, the only difference is that the GT-I9000M has a different modem in it, which uses the 850mhz /1900mhz band. whereas the International version uses different bands. The 2100 and the 900 I think.
So happy flashing. Just remember to grab the correct modem file for your phone from the development section. Most ROM's I have found are geared towards the international version and may not contain a modem file that supports the 850mhz band right out the box.
I am in Canada and I use the recommended I9000UGKG3 modem.
Hope I have helped.
