Flashing stock ROM don't void warranty.
You won't lose data, but always better to have backup. Anything goes wrong then you may lose it.
You are new, so like to advise you one thing
Never wipe/factory reset on ICS stock ROM with stock kernel.

Stock ICS kernels are not safe to perform wipe or factory reset, if you do so, you may brick your Note, check this. If you are on Stock ROM and want to do wipe ever then flash some custom Kernel, it will be safe for wipes.
N7000XXLRQ is stock firmware so no prob with warranty.

OFt: all the mumbo jumbo advices on this thread and it still have the OP a lingering question.. will it void his warranty?
Let me answer you bud... NO it will not void your warranty, since this is also a stock ICS ROM release by Sammy itself (Not on your region though)., now say you have something of a question (not totally a repair warranty) but just merely asking for question to your local Samsung rep. You may have one hell of explaining to do since they will check your firmware and find that your default STOCK (say LRQ) hasn't been release out yet for your region. LRQ is for Germany.. I'm not sure what would be for your region.
You have that to take into consideration... OR you can just truly wait until a firmware would finally be release for one.. solely specific to your country.

+1 that, and "logically" warranty should not be void as long as you are on any stock firmware but "technically" it will void your warranty if you use a stock firmware from another region. But I guess SSC will go the "technical" way, ssc people will know odin has been used

[Q] How to root Galaxy Note without losing warranty!!

I recently updated my Galaxy note GT-n7000 via kies..

Root Loses warranty
So is it possible "to lose warranty without losing it?" got it ?
yeah you can always unroot it to regain warranty.
N your ROM is non rootable, directly, you have to downgrade first.
Do what Zamboney said you in previous post.
Dont be afraid, you will not use warranty if you respect the treads of cds dev, they are very good, and the gnote is strong !
Patos via tapatalk.
Sorry, I want to say xda dev's, not cds.

I have flashed this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2110245 with ODIN in PDA mode, and now the phone have no signal, and Baseband is displayed as Unknown.
How can I recover the baseband ?
I have tried to make a complete wipe, but it did not help.
Proceed with this thread, and dig all the links up and even dig the sub links. Maybe it will help.
Btw one guy is presistant that you need a new mobo, but I doubt.

Thanks I will take a look.
Sure it can be done by software, because there is a samsung service tool, which cost a lot of money, and that can fix this only from software.
May I ask if you had any luck? I like the "solved" threads, they help me the most when I end up in a dark corner

It didn't work, so I sent the phone to a specialised service, they told me that there is a 50% change they can fix it and if not then I can throw the phone, and if they can fix it then it will cost $40-45

Have you tried it downgrading to GB? I suppose that's where your phone was working, right? Do you still have the warranty, if yes, flash everything back to stock and than try to send it to Samsung, but it can be that you phone regains the IMEI and other info back, have read this from similar threads from multiple devices with the same problem.
downgrading to GB did not help, I don't think the warranty will cover this...the custom flash counter is 16

maybe the phone was locked on some network and that's the cause for all the trouble. Try with triangle away to reset the counter, install GB as it was in the beginning, go to service and keep your fingers crossed. You have nothing to lose.

My phone was neverlocked, and it's multi-region, the original firmware had the same code as the Hong Kong phones, and I am located in Europe.
When I flashed this Russian JB rom, I got a warning message on the phone: WARNING: Custom Modem ! ...very strange !
That custom modem is responsable for the whole issue. Unfortunately my knowledge is limited and I'm unable to help you.
Still, my advice is the same: flash GB, reset that counter and go to samsung service. Probably they will discover that you flashed another FW, but at least you'll know if and how it can be repaired.

[Q] From Froyo to Overcome_4.1.0 - How to be safe?

Hi,
A simple question (I hope):
From Froyo P1000BVJM8 (Orange France) with a protected bootloader and without root, what first step would you recommend in order to install Overcome_4.1.0 as safely as possible:
1) Flash directly GB_Stock_Safe_V5?
2) Root the phone and patch the bootloader (then flash GB_Stock_Safe_V5)?
Cheers,
Pierre.
only step 2.
step 1 apparently will brick your tab.

Is it safe to patch the boorloader with Chainfire patch? I have read that patching bootloaders was a bit ai risk.

Just another thought: A protected Froyo bootloader should not prevent from upgrading to an official Samsung GB ROM, right? What if I flash an official GB Samsung ROM via Odin first ? (Well GB_Stock_Safe_V5 is already an official Samsumg ROM, maybe?)
Thanks,
Pierre

By the way, Chainfire seems to consider that patching the bootloader is quite risky ? Is it true, or just a general warning about playing with bootloaders?
Many thanks for your quick and usefull answers.
Pierre.
General warning, I assume.
If you would brick a tab, it will be through a failed flash of bootloader.

Edit/update : check also this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552982
You cant go back. Knox is not a counter its a flag. Now if you flash anything custom your warranty is void i.e recovery, kernel etc.
Official 4.3 is now the only thing you CAN flash without voiding warranty. Root etc will now void it. You should have waited for reports before flashing

Can i flash this rom to my phone is updated already and now is on 4.3 with knox bootloader. Is there any solution to downgrade the bootloader. Please help.
That wont work once you trigger Knox as per all the posts you are stuck .
The future may bring a fix or not
5. If you try to downgrade to earlier firmware / bootloader it will set the knox flag to 0x1 i.e. void.
6. once the knox flag gets set to 0x1 there is no way to set it back (that anyone has found yet anyway!).

I understand that but if you flash a new official rom from one to another, how does it know that the new flash rom it is not a custom rom and don't change the counter.
I think that is were we must look for a solution. If Samsung can make new roms that don't change the counter the we ca do it to or !!!
