Just loaded the latest build of CM 7 on my milestone hopeing the wi-fi teathering would work. I had been using RC0 as my daily driver for a while now as 7.2.0 RC 2 and 7.2.0 release the wifi teathering stopped working for me. Any ideas on how to get the theathering to work? or am I stuck going back to the RC0. This latest release is alot a lot more stable and I don't get the low memory after running lots of apps.
Thanks
Ryan

Hi all,
I am still running stock 2.3.6 but I am thinking about unlocking my phone to run CM. Anyway, I have been browsing through the dev CM7 thread and found that there are a lot of random reboots, lockups and other problems in the 7.1 stable release. I am thinking that installing the an older nightly perhaps would give me a better experience. Which nightly would you recommend?
Thanks.
I think its not good to stay on
a single nightly because there are few tweaks with every new nighty which makes it better from last one.
Anyway I recommend you to try cm7.1 rc1 before trying nightlies
For some time.

On my N1 Cm 7.1 is stable to but playing videos in flash full screen causes so many lock ups, i hope cyanogen would release a minor update for it

I'm one latest nightly, build 227. Very good and stable for me.
Just make sure you do a clean wipe including system partition
when coming from a different ROM.
Thanks guys! Do you know of a bug tracking page that lists all the bugs that CM7.1 currently has?
Thanks.
Not a bug tracker, but I find this page very useful and visit it daily to see if I want to upgrade to the latest nightly or not: http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=passion
Looks like the latest nightly is marked as 7.1.0.1... #227 as baseballfanz said. Maybe that will fix the problems you mentioned... however, I will note that I've been running 7.1 stable since the day it was released (nightlies before that) and have had zero problems at all. No lockups, no reboots, no problems at all no matter what I do with it...
7.1.0.1 is a maintenance release for a few devices. The N1 was not included in this list. And most of the reboots and instability issues with the stable release are resolved when people perform full wipes of the phone. It has been rock solid for me.
Thanks guys... I have installed CM71 Nightly 231 last night. It was going smooth at the beginning but I got stuck on flashing Amon_Ra recovery. For some reason my phone wasn't taking the CM themed version but the original version installed fine.
First problem after flashing the ROM and gapps was Market wasn't downloading apps for some reason. I think it was because the phone was reinstalling all the apps at the same time and it just couldn't handle the load. I had to install the apps one after another and that got through it.
The phone rebooted itself when I played a video for the first time, but it's been working rock solid so far. Now I'll have to figure out how to use S2E!
Thanks!

Cyanogenmod runs on Gingerbread, so saying its better is a contradiction.
If you let us know what problems you had in the stable version we may be able to help. That being said, the latest nightly IMO seems more fat and just as stable as the latest "stable" edition.
thanks riso
i mean the last version of gingerbread
i post the problems in forums and i see many thread speak about other problems
i hope cyanogen team fix all problems
If you are not happy with the stable then you could update to a nightly and once you find one that works for you, stick with it. Nightlies are designed for people who want to test the ROM to help developers so updating regularly is not a good idea if you just want something that works.

thank you chrono
ok i wait
Nightlies arent always unstable, most of the latest nightlies are great.
It isnt required to update every day, you can just update to the latest nightlies every week if you want to.

Nightly v.s.
I have read that snapshot is the stable version and nightly the more testing version. I originally tried to flash a snapshot version but had absolutely no luck getting it to work. It was around 150mb. I then found a nightly version and tried it on my samsung sgh-i747m s3. It was closer to 300mb and it worked just fine to install and run. It was my first time trying anything like this and I quite probably did it all wrong but like I said... no go for the snapshot but great success for the nightly. Cyanogenmod 11.
What I wonder is, I have seen some images of Cyanogenmod 11 having a full screen size keypad for dialing phone numbers and the one I have is only a half screen version. Is that because of my phone or the mod version or a theme? I have tried many themes that also show a full screen keypad but mine stays half screen and changes color. Anyone know?
Hello
I have a problem with Wifi tethering : it can connect but I only have the upper arrow on the notification bar icon. So I can't load webpages.
I tried a lot of roms : latest jelly bear 2.55, CM 10.1, Utacka's PA 2.57 011013, imilka's PA 2.55...
It only worked with imilka's PA 1.99 of August.
Someone has an idea?

The problem is that almost no one go and see the Q&A section. Last time I asked a question there, I had no answer....

I've just tried jellybam 5.0.0, jellybam 4.1.0 and asylum 10.1 without any success so far

I'm using stock ICS 4.0.4 and have no issue with WiFi tethering. Although there are times it fails, but it really depends on your network connection.
Sent from my GT-N7000
is there a general tethering problem on custom, or jelly bean roms?
would be a reason not to upgrade, for me..
It really works well with cm 9 and PA 1.99.
It should work with cm 10.1 since most of the people out there report it working but it doesn't with me :/

I've tried with new AOSPA and I can report a new thing : bluetooth tethering works with Wifi connected. But as soon as I am on the mobile network, it doesn't work.

Hi my HP Touchpad is running on the latest CM9 nightlies from CyanogenMod, and I was wondering if I can get Google Now on my Touchpad. I've seen Reverndkjr's video and have read other people's fails in attempting to install or getting Google Now to work on CM9 builds. Those comments were a long time ago and I'm wondering if there's a new stable version of Google Now for the CM9 builds. P.S. I don't want to install CM10 just to get google now. Thanks in advance!

this worked for me
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224
I used the M7_Offline.zip
I should note that the mic does not work for me. I am on jcsullin's 20130318 CM9 test build.
I tried CM10.1 but it felt too plain so I changed to Tonyps "THE ROM" build, Had too many
troubles whit WIFI since it kept connecting and disconnecting at random, Made any online
game from the play store useless...
Then Flashed the new MIUI rom here from rugglez but the phone simply would never get
connected to the mobile network so I could not make calls or be called... Made the phone
kind of a brick...
After that I went to the MIUI offcial website and downloaded their new offcial build in testing
phase for the P990... Discovered it runs horrible on the P990 whit 512 MB RAM and always
keeps the free RAM at 40 or 30 MB... Laggy to no end...
So, pretty much I have hit a roadblock on all available ROMs for the P990... I don't want any
ROM that's made by Tonyp because for some reason Kowalsky Kernel screws my WIFI
all the time by random connects and disconnects...
Whit all that stated I'm tempted to go back to CM 10.1 Nightly unless there is another rom
that I have not heard about. Would be nice if there is a JB rom that is not CM or Tonyp's
that doesn't have the WIFI problem...
Anyway, Is there any other kernel apart from Kowalsky that let's me use fast charge on my
P990?
EDIT:
Ohhh... Now I remember why I ditched CM, No external SD Card support....
You could try to disable the wifi powermanagment options in kowalski kernel via kowalski manager, that could fix the wifi disconnects.
Regarding ROM I would give CM 10.2 from tonyp a try and combine it with the new 3.1 kernel from pengus77, I'm happy with it

Ok, I'll try the 3.1 kernel from Pengus77 and see if that solves the random WiFi disconnects.
EDIT:
Okay, It seems the 3.1 exp alpha 14 kernel from pengus77 did the trick. For now I'm no
longer getting anymore WiFi disconnects on his rom "THE ROM" build 26!
Also bought the "Trickster MOD" app as a replacement for the Kowalsky manager and
I'm quite satisfied whit it. Let's see how it goes in the course of the week!
