Hi there i have a SGS which was running ics on a custom rom working fine
I then wanted to flash the official 2.3.6 os back on it for a friend.
I put the phone into download mode then odin did'nt do anything so i turned it off
now i can't see anything on the phone when i turn on the power key please can i do anything?
Check your drivers on your labtop and retry to put the GS in download mode
Try going in recovery system and do all three wipes...

I've got a better solution and with it your phone will never be bricked in the future.
But you can use it only if you are handyman.
Follow this thread :

and your phone will resurect and will be immortal ^^( manner of talk, if you drop it from the 51 floor of a building it will not survive).

BTW i installed a I9100 flash file on to the odin when i did it which was samsung s2 flash file now i realise what went wrong
Me being a **** head and installing the wrong file.:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

It's easy you just have to make a bridge between two connectors (OMX5 and OMX0) and after you flash a software. If this manipulation can make my phone like a survivor i can do it ^^
---------- Post added at 12:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:58 AM ----------
Don't worry about that the GS2 has a counter who is incremented when u flash a non official software it's a trick that the constructor used to help the Samsung's technicians to know if you can use the guarantee or not but the GS1 isn't equipped of this system, then it doesn't matter.
so @drakester20 are u saying that i can give it samsung and they wont know and charge mer nothing?

@drakester20 so what did u tell samsung when your phone got briked.
Just found found out that my phone still has warranty till the end of next moth.
What should I say to them?
Should i say i used samsung kies to update then a failure message came on my screen ?
What should i say as I am running out of time and my warranty is nearly about to go?

Hi Xda members,
If your mobile has bricked. do the following step. and get back ur mobile back .
TUTORIAL:
Download the flashtool.Click here to download the flastool http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?uytbettmmeiuw2n
Download ROM Image X8_2.1.1 (2.1.1.C.0.0)_E15i.rar .Click here to download [URL="http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?t5jusp8gzwqth2z"]http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?t5jusp8gzwqth2z
(then extract)
Password :thanks
3.Place ftf file in /firmwares directory of your flashtool.
4. Install drivers from /drivers directory
5. Prepare yourself - plug the USB cable to the computer and launch flasher.
6. Click "flash", choose your ROM from the list, Wait for instructions.
7. When the instruction pops up, press and hold "back" button on your X8 and plug the cable into it. Keep holding untill you see that flashing of files has begun(LED GREEN APPEARS) , then you may release it.
8. Flashing will take a while, you may observe the progress on a bottom bar. When it's finished you will be asked to plug off your device and reboot it.
10. If you wish to change baseband, clean firmware directory in flashtool and place baseband ftf file in it, then go through flashing procedure again.
11. If you try this correctly your phone will work again
Dont ask the question again and again.......

Hey, thanks a lot man, after bricking my phone several times and use ur guide to unbrick it. I manage to explore more bout new rom and kernel...
And why should anybody flash back to stock? If u soft brick ur phone u should just reflash the rom that ur using right now...
I guess this is only the solution for "SOFT" brick.
Does it can make phone error sometime? Or not easy to use like before? Thanks...

No error..once you flashed your phone you can get ur old ROM android 2.1.
Easy to use.No bugs....!
If u r going to install any custom rom don't forgot to root and xrecovery....
I always preferred Companion, and you just connect, but if you're in trouble the Flashtools is a good choice

So i've had a CM9 Beta 1 build on my phone, it was running like a charm past week, so while surfing around internet i've found a flashable zip that makes your status bar look like Jellybean (Specified it works with CM9 Beta 1!) and i've got stuck in recovery bootloop like the last time.
I've tried various way's, one of those was to reflash the ROM or flash a stock ROM from Odin, and it keeped getting stuck on stage VerifyPlatform...
So i've found a thread that fixes all of this mess with a .bat file for computer, and after using it my phone actually died.
I can't turn it on, it's all black..
I think i'm seriously lost...
I'm hoping for exact help that could fix it, not an maybe, i seriously need help! ;(

i9000 use hummingbird chip .. can use usb jig or if detect as sp5c110, can use unbrickable mod software to revive it (if not detect then have to do hw mod)
i9001 use different chip ie msm8255t .. try the button combination or usb jig to get into download mode. If it detect as qusb_load something then there might still have chance. If still nothing I'm afraid only jtag/riffbox can help.
I once bricked a Galaxy W i8150 (msm8255t) because of wrong bootloader flashed. Usb jig don't work. Had to use riffbox to revive it.
Yeah if jig doesn't work then u gotta replace the jtag

Lols i almost got the same issue with my I9001. I would have blamed KIES...
Hi all,
I have a serious situation with my S I9000, I really need some help.
So I had jelly bean Cyanogenmod 10, It worked fine until one day I updated it, and then I tried to Update some apps using Google Play App but the update didn't finish and cause me lots of unworkable apps.
I rebooted my phone to recovery mode, I made a backup, and then tried to restore an old backup (before I updated Cyanogenmod) but then the phone didn't want to start, It powers up but stays at "Samsung galaxy S....." welcome screen forever.
I was not able to start in recovery mode, how ever the downloading mode worked, then I tried to flash android 2.3.6 with odin but it failed.
And now my phone won't power up and doesn't show anything, even the charging screen.
I know I really messed things up but I really need your assistant guys.
Thank you (and sorry for my weak English)
What did you flash through Odin?

It's probably a hard-brick (I had the same problem last week). There are two ways that can solve it.
First is with a USB Jig. You can buy one (are super cheap) or trying to construct one by yourself. Here are some posts of handmade USB Jigs:

The second way is by taking your phone to the shop.

Thank you, but I think that USB Jig doesn't work, cause the phone doesn't show anything at all : no downloading/recover mode and no battery charging screen.
I heard about JTAG.. do you have a tutorial for that ?

as far as i know, flashing i9000 ROM into i9003 will hardbrick ur fone

You can not restore any pre-CM backup as it has different format. I had the same situation last week and learned now how to revive my i9000

To be lazy it's NOT ALLOWED on XDA forums! FIRST READ RULES and then read the posts completely ten times and finally read it again!!! ...and if you understand them, you'll try any modifications

Bro, try to follow the guide. Just pressing Vol Down+ Power+ Home button is completely different from preparing your odin, removing battery, connecting phone to computer, inserting the battery and pressing Vol Down+ Power + Home button. This method can, in the best case scenario, force open Download Mode. Give it a try! You have nothing to lose but something to gain. If this doesn't work, guide also provides details on USB Jig which is your last option. Hope I helped

@info2shail2010 had the similar problem but he was able to go to Download mode using that guide. Sadly since that didn't work for you, your only option will be USB Jig. If that doesn't work either then buy a new phone

No bro... i am not able to go to in download mode... i told you... i was using Vol up + power + home key... i was mistakenly thinking it was downloading mode because it was connecting in Odin..... but u told me that is not downloading mode ... that is RamDump mode..... so .. i also cant go to download mode by pressing Vol down + power + home key.... its dead and not responding.. ....
The USB Jig method is just working for softbricked (it can boot, but looping) phones but can't go to recovery or download mode. So, it's not working for hardbricked phone

Bro, but the above guide says the USB jig for Samsung devices force the device into download mode so you can flash firmware over Odin and restore it to working order. Are you sure about what you said?
