Hi, I noticed during phone call, the phone will not try to re-connect when there is lost of data connection. I am doing conferencing using Webex, the phone line is ok but data connection will be lost after a few minutes of online. I am with stock ROM, 4.04

Definitely not normal if you are connecting via 3G, as there should be no issue with simultaneous voice and data.
If you are connecting via 2G/EDGE, you won't have voice and data simultaneously.

I noticed the same thing on mine after switching to ICS. I don't ever remember having that issue with GB.

Are you with stock ROM or rooted with any custom kennel?
I am thinking to root but not sure which kennel is more reliable.

Just try it in ics. Do a download and make a phone call and observed, because mine is 3g. To be fair when i observed it i was in custom rom, i never did make an observation in stock rom.

I disagree you on that. I have been using data and call all at the same time. In fact I'm using it just a while ago. I'm browsing the Net, got a call from one of my buddies and I was able to talk to him using my headset while I'm browsing the web on my phone at the same time.
Voice and data are synchronous already.... We are talking about today's age already okay?
Most smartphones nowadays have chips already to support synchronous and parallel communications... as opposed to the analog days when you really have to choose one over the other (data /call or vice versa)

I guess maybe i was wrong but i one thing i notice while im dowloading something the dowload will be cut off when i perform a call.
I tried it again this time with another custom rom where i am right now the download is cut off when i make a phone call.
Maybe using headset it will behave differently, i dont know.
You should try also to download something and make a phone call if it will not be cut off then its my bad. Do not use your headset and also use 3g.

Downloading a file is different from browsing on the internet. Downloading from a server requires a steady influx and outflux of packets sent to your phone. Your phone is trying to request to the server to download a file.. the server in turn grants this request and that is when a 'handshake' takes place. Now because your also using the phone to talk, that handshake is interrupted or stalled, and that's when you say your download is cut off. In reality, it's not.. it is still sending bits of packets down to your phone, but in bits and fragments only.. not the whole big bulk. Your phone is trying to leverage between data and voice calls.. that is what it is doing in the background.
It depends also on your carrier. 3G (Edge) in a very pitiful stage if your going to use your phone on this scenario. (That is why I gave up with T-Mobile long time ago).
P.S., I can't imagine taking calls and browsing the Net (using the speaker) could you?? Surely you can't be that stupid to put your phone 2 inches closer to your face, while browsing and speaking to the phone. It's as dumb and ridiculous as I can ever imagine!

Well i based my answer to this thread on my experienced about the data, because of that download being cut off.
About that stupid thing there no need to say that, do you think i do not know that, its obvious, i only said that dont use the headset because that is the setup i use to when the download is cut off.
About that bits and fragments, when i said the download is cut off its really means failed because there really no bits and fragments coming in.

I'm not stating or implying that your stupid or something... your suggestions about not using the headset and merely using the phone to take the call and browsing the web is simply out of my league. How can you simply browse and take call at the same time? I can't. You either have to put your mouth closer to the phone which I would imagine being 1 or to inch closer to the phone and then you would expect me to browse the web by then?? geez!
Like I've said, download and browsing the web are not the same thing at all. Downloading uses your data packets CONTINUOUSLY and inasmuch, it would require no to have it interrupted or stalled (at the same time your taking that call.)
Also, one of the factors why your download is cutoff is the fact your only using 3G (EDGE). It is as slow as hell. I would understand perhaps if it's more than EDGE (like HSPA/HSDPA) and your haviing download issue. That I truly understand. BUT using EDGE to download? Of course.. 100% your download would stuck out. EDGE on a real world scenario is never meant to be synchronous in all channels at all. You either have to take it one or the other. That's normally how you do it on 3G.
Its a misunderstanding then. No harms done.

thanks bud.. my apology as well.
Hi guys, my problem is during the call, once lost data connection the OS will not reconnect to data line again until the call is off.
Today I tried an experiment, under"Network Mode", I choose WCDMA only, the connection is alright throughout my conference call, no lost data during the call. So I suspected it's due to the way the OS handle connection, and depend on signal strength in your area.

EDGE is not 3G!
It is extension of the 2G GPRS standard, and is commonly referred to as 2.5G, though this has no basis in "standards".
3G UMTS (note, not CDMA 3G) will allow simultaneous data and voice whereas any 2G data connection will suspend if you make or receive a call.
HSPA/HSPA+ are to 3G what EDGE is to 2G.

Dave

I dont know if this has anything to do with the ROM im running (cyanogen 5 series)
but when i lose service for a period of time, like in my office, then i go outside on the road, it remains without service until i reboot. Anyone else running into this? I find it annoying i have to restart just to make a call
Try toggling on and off Airplane mode. Probably quicker.
Are you running the latest Radio?

i have the same problem! it happened after the first radio update and im running stock rom..i have to go to settings/wireless & networks/mobile networks/network operators/select automatically to fix the probelm..its crazy because it shows i have full bars and 3G and I still can't send messages or call people till i do my fix...any answers??
same problem, i havent updated my radio but am using the latest cyanogen. i usually reboot. thanks for the airplane mode tip.
Moved as not Android Development.
Come to think of this... I had the issue once. I tried toggling Airplane Mode, but it kinda froze and wouldn't let me disable AM. Had to reboot and then it worked fine. Weird, but have only had it happen once. Someone post about this on Google's support site?
My sister has the Nexus also (talked her out of iPhone) and she's having these same issues. 3g dropping to edge randomly while the phone is just sitting there. Can't send SMS and has to reboot the phone. I feel bad because I'm the one that told her to get it and now she's having all these issues... though AT&T really sucks in my state. Her phone is up to date with the OTA updates.

Those are separate issues, I think. I haven't ever experienced those issues... all I've had happen is to go into a building for a while where there was no signal, then after leaving and going outside, not reconnecting to the network. As I said though, a reboot fixed my issue. Not sure about your sister's issue, though it seems some are also experiencing... but not everyone is, which leads me to believe it's either something network related, or specific to a handful of phones. Perhaps a swap with HTC is in order.
It's network+Android. It's even prevalent in good 3G/H saturated areas. Anytime you're switching a speed (EDGE -> UMTS -> HSDPA) all data transfers stop until it's initialized. Unfortunately it seems that Android is handling this changeover extremely slowly and the problem is exacerbated by switching towers (like when you go to a new location). I've found that whenever I travel to a new location I use an Airplane Mode widget toggle when I get there and the problem goes away until I go somewhere else. But like I said it still exists when stationary like if there isn't a really solid HSDPA connection.
It's annoying.
Edit: I should point out that this problem exists with EDGE-3G (first gen Android handsets) as well. Try to do a stream or something like that with one bar of 3G then have it get knocked down to EDGE. 10 to 1 the stream gets interrupted. I know it happened plenty in certain areas with my G1. We're only noticing it more on the N1 because of the antenna placement makes staying on mediocre 3G connections tricky and add in the fact that we're now dealing with a THIRD connection type.
Edit again: I reread my post and it sounds like I'm coming off as "ZOMG THIS IS FACT". It's nothing more than my personal opinion and experiences. Sorry for the confusion.
Again... I think the OP is talking about LOSING SERVICE altogether.... i.e. the bars going grey and the little x showing up above the bars. Not the data connection switchover. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's what he's asking about.

Dude... read the post again. It's as clear as day...not to mention the title of the thread!
I've got the same issue too, and I'm with WIND mobile, so its definitely not a T-Mobile thing.
I either have to go to Airplane Mode, or if that won't work or takes too long, then I just battery pull, reboot and the phone is fine.
I've had this happen in different situations... If like the OP, I'm in an area with no coverage and then I enter a region with coverage, the Nexus One won't pick-up or notice that there's coverage and it'll just sit there and say no service.
If I try to manually select my Network/Mobile provider from the settings menu, it'll error out and say your SIM card is not recognized (others have had the same happen to them as well).
I've also had the phone go from full signal to a total loss of signal and signal would not return until I performed a battery pull.

I've never experienced the last problem you described...
By the way, instead of pulling the battery, you should do a soft reboot by pushing power, trackball, and volume down simultaneously. This is easier on your device then just cutting the power. Just bear in mind that it will take a few seconds for the phone to reboot, so be patient after hitting that key combo.

Thanks for the tip man... Will definitely do what you've described from now on.
WIND is having some network issues, so their signal might have cut out and then that must have triggered the loss of signal bug with the phone where it doesn't see to renegotiate the connection.
BTW, does setting it to "WCDMA Only" make a difference for anyone?
Hello All,
I have been in battle with Verizon ever since I first got the service with my Thunderbolt. The internet would run for about 15 minutes and then drop connection even though everything said it had an internet connection. Verizon has had me change out the SIM card, reboot the phone, reset to factory, made sure that always on data was enabled. I have used multiple different tethering applications such as PDANet and EasyTether along with rooting my phone and installing wifi apps. (they don't know about the root). I have been through 4 thunderbolts, all had the same problem. Internet would run for about 15 minutes or less and then stop working. Verizon checked out the network and said everything was fine. I now have a LG Revolution and am having the same problems again. So I know its not a phone issue. I read on here that turning off voice privacy can possibly fix this problem. So I did. I pinged google and at 13 minutes into it started to fail. It would time out or if it did successfully ping the time it took was above 3000 ms. I have a 3G connection of -82dBm (4G currently turned off for trouble shooting purposes) and a 1x connection of -90dBm. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Verizon help is useless so im going to you guys who are much more knowledgeable than they are. I have also tried this on several different PCs. I have to reboot my phone to get the internet working properly again.
Sorry about the long post but its all information you guys need to know.
Thanks,
locohammerhead
Phone calls are like this on my phone. Its a call dropping fool. But, the signal doesn't cause it, it doesn't change. I think its the software myself. I've run log cat, and all i see is a message that says there was a signal change. I dobt know if its an instantaneous thing that i cant see happen, or if its a crock of shinto.
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA Premium App
but my problem isnt with calls being dropped. Its with my internet connection.
Right, but its still over the 3G network. People are having texting issues as well. I think its LG's radio software, is what im saying.
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA Premium App
i dont think it has to do with software because I had the same problem on four different thunderbolts. I also rooted it and tried multiple different roms and radios. So unless LG and HTC all use the same radios odds are thats not the problem.
Well, my Xoom runs fine on 3G,and it doesn't have a 4G radio yet. So I doubt it's Verizon.
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA Premium App
I was thinking maybe there is something wrong with my account or sim card? The girl that set everything up originally was a complete and utter moron that did not know what what was doing.
temporary problems.
Earlier on when I got my phone I had intermittent connectivity issues, but toggling airplane mode on and off or a reboot usually fixed it...and for longer than 15 min, more like days. I'm in a 4G area now, but for about a month and a half only had 3G. Occasionally I still loose connectivity but both methods I just spoke of will fix it for the long term.
It seems very odd that it's not a widespread problem. It’s just so weird. I can stream several Netflix movies back to back without any breaks, even on 3G.
STOCK LG Revolution
Same Here
I run into this same problem while tethering whether on LTE or 3g. It runs great for a while, hours even, then all the sudden it will quit for anywhere from a minute to an hour or more. Sometimes a reboot will fix it. Interesting thing is I ran into the same problem with my old motorola droid. Make me lean towards this being an issue on verizon's end.
Does this occur when you are connected to wifi or only on 3G/1x? Have you tried testing in different locations with varying signal strengths?
Do you have the problem without root?
I'm wondering if this is an issue with your local network, meaning Verizon's network in your area. Since it happened on two different models and several phones, it would seem to indicate that it is an environment issue rather than a radio or other hardware problem.
I have a similar issue, but with text messages. I can send 3-5 text messages before it just chokes up. Then I have to reboot, or turn airplane mode on/off. Then I can send 3-5 text messages before it chokes again. I've done everything I can think of to isolate the problem, to no avail.
If anyone has a solution to his, please let me know. It's almost worse than not being able to make phone calls.
I also experience the Internet issue, but less frequently. It;s not my ROM, because I've used three different ROMs (including stock) and it was a problem on all of them. I saw on some other forum that it may be an issue generated by switching from a 3G phone to a 4G phone. If the VZW rep who setup your phone didn't do everything right, there's a "behind the scenes" setting that sometimes fails to get changed. The suggestion was to dial *611, describe the problem, and they should be able to fix it (though it may take 2-3 days).
I plan on trying this tomorrow, will let you know if I experience any changes. If anyone else has done this or wants to try it, post your results, and lets see if we can get this figured out.

This is almost certainly a VZW problem, whether they will acknowledge it or not is an open question. The only other things I can think of is a bad SIM card or incorrect programming of the SIM. The OP stated that Verizon swapped his out, so that leaves only the programming or the network.
Wish I had a better answer for you, bro.
My internet connection just started messing up with me today too. The internet will work fine with 4g and wifi but i get no internet connection with 3g only...
I have the exact same problem as the OP.
Really pisses me off. Want to throw vzw out the window and go back to a feature phone sometimes.
Vzw customer support is less than helpful. One will say your phones the problem, but why did I have the exact issue with my Incredible. Another will say its because I live in a fringe market area and we aren't really an important part of the network. WTF?
All I know is when I lived in Cincinnati everything worked fine. Moved up north and about 6 to 8 months later my service slowly starts sucking more and more to the point where I don't even bother looking up info on my Revo anymore.
I got my replacement LG Rev exactly one week ago to today. This one is all sorts of connection/rebooting issues.
Also unfortunately the update was already on my phone when I got, so no root for me
WiFI wont stay connected even if i'm 3ft from my router.
Phone will lose ALL signal and drop in to extend, and I'm only 1 mile from a strong 3g/4g tower.
Whenever i would pop it to airplane mode then back on, it would reboot.
I have 4 days before its been 1 month with this phone. I'm close to sending it back and getting the HTC TB or Droid 3.
In a test of patients I reset my phone to factory default, removed CWM and it updated to v6. I have to say the network connection was the most stable I have ever had it be but in turn the phone was not as smooth. Changing between screens had lag and was not as smooth as the original rom that shipped on the phone.
I have since down graded and re-rooted. The signal is not as stable either.
I was having same issue, especially with certain sites, including my own website for my business.
So far, what has fixed the issue, at least through Linux Network Settings, is setting the MTU to 1300. No other number has worked so great to date, but that seem to load everything and keep everything fast and quick with little issues.

EDIT: Upon further reading, I'm wondering if my reply was not quite on track. Is this problem on the phone itself, or via hotspot/tethering? It seems to be on the phone, so my reply might be way of course.
Hi to all,
in these days, i was wondering if at this state there is a solution to enable via software the Phone Calls and SMS system on the Nexus 7 3G.
I read that Google released the binaries of the 4.2.2, could be useful to work on it and enable this function ?
Sorry for this stupid question, but probably i bought a wrong device, because i supposed to use it as phone and tablet but i discovered that 3g work only for data...
If there is any simple or complicate solution, i will be grateful to anyone.
Im sorry if i posted on the wrong section yesterday (develepers)
Thanks
Well you can try the Google voice/grooveIP combo. Everything will run on your data as it doesn't have regular phone capabilities. But you can set it up to operate exactly like a phone if you are so inclined.

You also might try Talkatone. I have a non-3g n7, Talkatone works better for me than GrooveIP. Mainly on wifi, but also works fine on my 4g wifi hot spot device. I've dropped my cell service, use both my phone and n7 on wifi only.
Thanks

Thanks for your prompt reply.
Its not a must have, but the main reason was to leave the Phone and use the USIM on the Tablet. My first intent was to have just one subscription to a service. So use the Tablet with a bluetooth earset as phone...
Probably this was not a smart idea, i guess...but the damage is done... (as we say in Italy).
I hope there is a simple solution somewhere, in the mean time i would like to root the device and enable tethering for the future...
Thanks again for your support.
So I've had a CC for 5-6 months. It's stock. A few weeks ago I noticed on my cc phone app it started asking me to set up MaxCast. Haven't found much via Google search. What I have found makes me believe it's something computer based. But I don't have my laptop on and have never downloaded anything. It shows up with and without the cc plugged in so it's not a weird firmware addition Google pushed to my device. And I don't have anything I installed on my phone...
So what the blank is this?

Not possible. It's on my wireless network, which is locked down tight. And if it was someone else's cc, to name it would mean it's set up.

Its not on your wireless network. The app detects all Chromecast within range and asks you to set it up on your network.

Sorry. That's not correct. Picture 1. What happens when you try to connect with wifi off.
Picture 2. List of devices on my wifi network. ON my network, which is named "CodeBrown".
<Note3>
It is correct that's how it works. Believe what you want.

Not really helpful, but ok. Explain why it lists the device on my wireless network?

Factory reset your Chromecast. It will show up the same way as the "max cast" does until you set it up.

Because it detects it via WiFi, It sees the device in AP mode and is telling you you need to connect it to your network!
If you check available wireless networks in Settings on your phone you'll see a unsecured Access Point on Channel 1 called Chromecast which is the 'MaxCast' waiting for something to connect to set up. It's probably your neighbours. Maybe they've gone away, turned of their wifi, but left their Chromecast powered up. A set up and powered up Chromecast that can't find it's preferred network will fire up it's internal Access Point waiting to be set up again. When they switch their wireless back on it will disappear.
1st. @Cuzz1369 . Sorry for arguing.
2nd. So a cc device set up on someone else's wireless network is in proximity to mine and can actually be set up? That just seems...stoopid. I woulda thought once set up it would lock in the settings and be on one network. Hmm. Ok then. Thanks for everyone's input!

As someone else said, its not setup on a wireless network. Its looking for a home. Once its setup on a network it won't show up.

I remember reading somewhere on this forum that a rooted Chromecast in this condition (looking for a home) can be made to show the SSID and Passphrase of the owner who originally set it up if someone knows where to look. Am I correct in this or am I having a senior moment.
If the above is true will a stock Chromecast do the same thing (show critical information)?
One of my reasons for asking is I am seeing my neighbor's Chromecast and it is apparent he has set it up since it shows his name. Would like to be able to tell him if he is indeed vulnerable.
Actually it's showing to be set up because his wifi router is off, out of range or he changed its password. Since it's not ChromecastXXXX it was already configured.

Yes, I realize it has been set up but it is now broadcasting as an open network for someone to setup.
In the above condition, is the SSID and Passphrase of the original person's wifi network vulnerable to being seen by a third party?
Nothing to do with Chromecast but there are wifi thermostats that do the same thing (broadcast as an open network even though they have been setup but have lost connection to the original wifi network for some reason). I had one and never really felt comfortable with the thing doing this.
Even if not a security risk per se is does allow for some potentially damaging practical jokes. Strategic highjack of your neighbours Chromecast and then cast some particularly unsavoury NSFW content on a loop. Marriage breaker........

I found my answer at this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632288
Chromecast acts as open AP if is not connected to, in case of rooted it allows to steal your ESSID and PASSPHRASE

It appears to only be a rooted Chromecast that gives the farm away in the ' looking for a home ' situation. My neighbor should be OK unless his is rooted.

I'm almost sure it was already discussed in Eureka-ROM thread. If I recall correctly, someone said it's indeed possible to get the wifi passphrase by accessing an open Chromecast already set up. It'll be protected when the next webpanel is out.
I just tried to get my wifi passphrase accessing my chromecast, but it was encrypted. It looks like they already solved this issue.

lol! Dangerous mind! Now we'll have to take care when moving..
I think it's high unlikely you have an a*****e geek neighbour who is seeking for an unsecured chromecast (which need to be already set up and lost its connection) and will do any harm. The most probably to happen is someone setup it mistakenly thinking it's his/her's own chromecast and will cast a proper video (unless you also have a disturbed neighbour, which is quite unlikely too). But then he/she will eventually notice that did it by mistake, or yourself will notice something is wrong..
Well as I said in the other discussion....
Even if you got the Login Info you needed to connect to whatever network it was set up on....
If the CCast couldn't use the credentials to connect and stay out of AP Mode, how the hell can anyone else connect, What good is that Info? LOL
Can it be exploited by a really smart Hacker? Of Course but then again that same person s smart enough to hack the router without the need for a CCast in AP mode.

Yes, this is true and Team-Eureka has it on their radar - once the web panel is secured, it will be as much of an issue as it is with other rooted Android devices.
FWIW, you can get the WiFi credentials in plaintext from the same file on my rooted Android phone, so likely the core problem of the credentials being stored in plaintext is inherent in Android itself.
The trouble with Chromecast is that it automatically makes itself available as an unsecured WiFi AP for setup.
Which is OK except for the fact that rooted firmware enable ADB/SSH/Telnet by default.
Which is also OK except for the fact that those can be (re)enabled via the Eureka web panel.
Which is OK except for the fact that anybody can get to the web panel, because anybody can connect to the Chromecast's unsecure AP.
So any break in the chain would fix things. Functionality-wise securing the web panel is the best solution - it doesn't break any stock functionality and doesn't remove any added functionality.

No, because there isn't ADB, SSH or Telnet access to browse the filesystem.
Even if there was ADB/SSH/Telnet or some other way to browse the filesystem, without root you can't access the supplicant file.

Your neighbor isn't vulnerable to his/her wireless credentials being let out (unless someone finds another way to hack Chromecast's setup mode). However, someone could easily "hijack" their Chromecast, associate with another network and push random content to it.
If they have HDMI-CEC enabled the hijacker could turn on their and play whatever they wanted to.
It's not really a huge security risk, but it's an annoyance, as the hijacker would be taking over your neighbor's TV, and they could push undesired content. Overall, the hijacker would probably get bored quickly as they wouldn't see any of the result, unless they're an immediate neighbor or spying on their in some other way.
Does anyone know how to remove spyware and malware for the note 9, I am getting sick of wiping my phone ,when I know persons are hacking into my phone ,right now I know it has to be something to do with the phone serial number and bluetooth. I had to turn off low power scan and scan for near by devices. I only use bluetooth when I am in my car so when it on I got a feeling there can hack in that way, I don't leave my bluetooth on when I am not using it can anyone help me on this matter person can watch me using my phone view anything my camera see which is the front camera or the rear camera there can also view what I have open when I am using my phone.
Wtf
Is that even possible? I know that there is some software what can be written to firmware ant that way it will survive hard reset. If your phone is not rooted and you using factory firmware then is impossible for someone to access your phone remotely. If you use any software which allows for remote access to your phone, log to your account, preferably from clean pc and change your passwords and user name if possible.

Yeah that's a dozy. Though there are way to do those things he's afraid of, but I thought Google patched those up already since last August?
I'm more curious to know how the OP knows when someone is in the device accessing his/her things.??

I use Samsung Internet Beta in "Secret Mode" with all anti tracking options enabled and Samsung's "Disconnect for Samsung Internet" and ExpressVPN.
The only extra step usage wise is my bank and some other financial institutions send an email confirmation when logging in!

So... Is that hacker accessing your camera every time you accidentally double-press the power button? since you don't remember it being open when you press the power button?
Although BlueBorne was a known bluetooth vulnerability, that was 2 years ago, likely patched on a recent flagship like the note 9
I think it maybe BlueBorne but my note 9 was stuck on the August security patch. Ok from the beginning I bought the phone in December waited and waited and I didn't get any updates to the phone so from December to late February I was still on August security patch bear in mine I try almost every day to manually update my the uses of setting and nothing work so I take the phone back to the store I bought it from and there give a BS story about Samsung and update it to the January security patch as I ask so I know the phone can be updated, after I got back the phone I say to myself being that the phone is an unlock phone I did my research and look for a open market that had the pie update so I did a clean wipe one with the phone and one in the recovery before I use Odin to install pie but I hanging over my head that here may be somehow there got back in after the pie update cause I know for sure for December to when I wipe the phone myself all my info was be pull from my phone , picture, video, important data, and as I said the camera being use but the app is not open put this way, if my phone was a computer and you was in the next room using screen mirror and just watch what I doing on my phone plus the ability to use file at will or even download them.

Dude chill i'm messing with you! So your hearing voices when BT is connected via car audio! What kind of car do you own ? And what what kind of bluetooth antenna is installed in your car? It a pioneer car radio and I know of the interference you are talking about I had a Microsoft zune and that use to pick up all two way radio signals that mean if I am walking down the road and a truck pass i can hear the two way road. But what I am talking about is that the voices I am hearing are voices of persons I know I should had started with that i the bluetooth audio because you will be able to hear them better that way cause the volume is louder that the speaker on the phone and if it quite you can hear them also. Even tracking my data if I call my phone company and ask about my data for the month it doesn't match back to the Samsung data tracker nor glasswire data tracker. Trust me I not going off but if people are doing doing for year you get to pick up on little thing your phone is doing that you yourself is not doing to the phone.

You can still add you input besides that picture
I personally dont think anyone is spying on you. In any case, just wipe your phone and reinstall. If you have backups go through each app and make sure theres no rouge apps.
If you dont want to go through the long process go into apps then into permissions. Disable unwanted permission like camera, microphone on apps that shouldnt need those permissions.
You should really install apps through playstore or apk pure. Apps with mods and cracks are the ones you should stay clear.
We live in a super connected planet interference can happen so easily! Not sure what network provider you are with ? Some network providers suck others are awesome! All depends who you with ??
Also your data not matching up, can be easily be mismatched as servers not updating or your data is on the sever but server only updates once a week or a month to save cost there to many factors involved to say this is the issue
Plus you did say you have reset your Note 9! So how can he really keep track of how much data you have used ?
Mr Ted Harris you are not being hacked or being spied just take a deep breath and relax!

I have three different ways of tracking my data glasswire my network provider and the Samsung way, the thing is in January I get a text message from the provider saying I use up 95% of my data I was at a loss cause if i have a 8gb plan a month and what is not use roll over to the next month and any large download I do on wifi even to update my app I do on wifi, I don't use YouTube on my data for sure Facebook can't be pulling that much data or Instagram, the network provider can't be wrong as as I am typing I have use 1.8gb out of 8gb for the month so for and not putting in to account what I had roll over from February cause glasswire nor Samsung registers what is roll over, just making a example.

Yes I understand about disabling unwanted permissions but as reinstalling app goes you have two options Google or Samsung, Google reinstalling everything you had on your phone even if you downloaded it for apkpure once it can come from the play store, so if a app the say not available in this region and you use apkpure to download it, it will be redownload back for the play store, where as Samsung reinstalling all apps even if there come for the play store or Galaxy store, can it be possible I am redownload the spyware or malware from Samsung cloud as I am restoring my app, in the picture I what I have installed on my phone at the moment only thing I don't normally use is the Norton app.
