[Q] Chinese S5380 stock ROM for use in North America - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been given a Chinese GT-S5380 Galaxy Ace that I would like to use here in North America. The phone works fine with an AT&T sim card, but the Chinese firmware on it hasn't got any of the Google apps and I can't add a Google account.
Can someone tell me the best stock firmware I can use for AT&T in North America so I can use the Google apps?
Many Thanks :fingers-crossed:

Which is the exact model of the phone because galaxy ace has lot of variants and flashing the wrong firmware would kill it.
Under the battery it should appear the model of the phone.

I've attached a link photo of the labels under the battery. Is it GT-S5380_C_REV 1.0 (shown in the bottom right)?
(unfortunately, it won't let me post a real link because I'm new to the forums)
Thanks for your help :good:

With that text at the bottom right saying S5830_C got me a bit confused although its probably just S5830
Can you take a screenshot of "About Phone"
For example likr the screen I attached. With that screen ill confirm which version of the Ace you have.

You can use the "latest" firmware, which is S5830XWKTM fast and stable.

Where did my note come from?

Is there any way to tell where my note came from or is it to late? I've already updated to Kl7. When I received it it was in a language that I didn't understand but I navigated through well enough to change the language to English.

I also have the same question. I purchased it off the internet, and wondered which country it was imported to from Samsung originally.
Attached is a photo of the sticker on the back on my phone. I figured "Fabrique en Coree par Samsung' is French?
Look at the last 3 digits if the software version then cross check it with the master list of stock ROM in the development thread. Mine was KKA so its from Switzerland

[q] shv-e160s

So, I just moved to Korea and I have the SHV-E160S KT's version of the Galaxy Note with LTE.
Should i be looking at ROMS from this area. Is this note supported here at XDA anywhere. Any directions to the correct place would be helpful, thanks!
From a quick google, I think the specs are the same as the AT&T US version of the note with snapdragon processor, LTE and nfc? I would get this verified before flashing anything, maybe pop a post in their forum.
Can you post back and let us know?

There are Korean sites like XDA, you might want to use those instead of here. Roms for either will not work.

[Q] Voice + 4g on the T-mobile Samsung Galaxy Tab ????

saw this guy on youtube
my current knowledge of t-mobile tab unable to do voice+3g on t-mobile.
only voice+edge when flashed to euro rom. or 3g only data plan from stock tmobile.
but this guy from youtube says he now know how to do 4g + voice on tmobile tab.
he dont give out any info but video of his phone.
saying he have done it by learning in xda.
changing modem and imei #..
i am currently getting only voice + edge, if this guy is right.
please help me and lead me to instruction of somekind.
give me modem and how to change imei?
thanks
I see he is running GB.
Can we do the same with CM9 ICS?
Changing IMEI is illegal in some countries and against xda rules (I think).

It is illegal in UK but not in USA so I heard.
That video has no credibility.
Rotohammer who did a lot of research on it never got it working.
And if the video guy is so great why he didn't at least show us the baseband ? Is not hard or illegal to show his baseband. Maybe to show his imei is grey area, but not baseband.
People asked him and he didn't reply.

Actually, i think he's right. As i suspected earlier, tmob is throttling data based on imei#. Changing would take care of it. That being said, if you change your imei you risk being black listed by carrier. ie.no service

[Q] Is this phone GT- i9305 or T999?

Need some help. I saw a used i9305 yesterday. On the sticker behind the battery it said i9305. On the startup screen it said i9305. On 'about device' it said i9305. On the (IMEI matched) box though, there was a sticker of T Mobile attached to close the box (obviously ripped now, cause the phone was 2nd hand). Also I think the back had T-Mobile written on it as well.
So is the phone i9305 or T999 (T-Mobiles Variant of the S3)? -
Download from Play Store an app called Genuine Galaxy S3 or something like this and run. It will tell you what model is.

Not enough details to guess the answer .
Settings about phone may help .
Why would you think its not a I9305 does anything say T999 or are you confusing network operator / phone vendor with phone model ???
Probably an I9305 from T-Mobile Germany (or another European branch). Only T-Mobile USA sells the T999.
