[Q] Samsung Galaxy Note, Need Help Please - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 It is running stock ICS and is rooted.
I am just wondering how can i backup everything on my phone. So that i can use the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean via ParanoidAndroid custom ROM.
Do i have to remove the root and flash stock firmware on the phone again?
Thanks for any help :good:

Im a complete noob to this stuff so could you explain what these do exactly? Also do i just flash stock firmware to remove the root?

How did u root?
What kernel are you on?
Go to settings about phone and check
Yes you can flash the stock firmware thru pc Odin in pda tab and it will remove root.

Im not sure if i need the root to got the custom rom paranoid android jelly bean on my phone
i used this to root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26455511&postcount=2475

you will need to be rooted and on a custom kernal like hydracore etc in order to any custom rom on be it paranoid or any aother the custom kernal will help to make wiping and installing safer tho there is always a risk
i had paranoid on all i did was install hydracore kernal then wiped etc and installed paranoid with cwm i did not reinstall a stock rom there is no need

lol backup efs with ktool, save on computer, then flash a tar file kernel, like speedmod or hydra with ktool.
Reboot recovery, do the wipes, format system/data and dalvik cache. Flash jb zip, gapps (see first post rom thread) and done
If you have lots of apps, and want to keep them, do a app2zip (app from playstore) and flash that after
all own risk, and will lose data, but is cleanest way to go

[Q] How to flash from completely stock, non-rooted ICS?

Please forgive me if this question is one which has been asked a lot; I've searched around but I'm finding a lot of conflicting information.
Exactly how do you safely flash from stock ICS (4.0.0.4; unrooted) to a new rom (for example, I'm looking at going to a CM10 rom)?
Some guides seem to say:
1) Flash a safe kernel using ODIN (I was looking at Hydrocore)
2) Flash back to a pre-rooted gingerbread rom using ODIN (e.g http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025)
3) Flash the rom you're interested in using ODIN
Or perhaps I only need to do steps 1 & 3?
Thanks!
You need to do the 1st and 3rd steps.

Also once you have flashed a safe kernel you can flash the new ROM in recovery.

[Q] need help going back to stock ICS from miui rom

hi all!
i flashed miui rom on my note and think that it is too fancy for my simple taste. so i wish to go back to stock ics rom. i am thinking to:
1. reboot to recovery
2. wipe data/factory reset
3. wipe dalvik cache
4. restore backup
is this the correct procedure? or would i have to flash the LRT rom again and root and everything? sorry i have to ask because i think for someone not as tech-savvy as most people here, it is better to be safe than sorry. thank you for any help.
PS also anyone know of any mod to join unlimited number of contacts? i can't seem to find anything. found something but then the link it led to was already dead.

If you have a backup of the stock rom you like to go back to I would recommend flashing Abyss4.2 kernel first which over a long time has been considered as safe with wipes and stable with install/restore (except for some backups made with cwm 6+).
After install of Abyss4.2 and rebooted recovery: perform a full wipe and restore your backup.
If you want a clean stock rom instead you can download one and install with Odin =)

The stock kernel is perform very well in terms of battery performance.
And consider smooth and stable.
Tips: go pages 49 or 51 to get the modify rom ( about 768mb ). Flash it over ebyee jb rom with wipe cache and dalvik cache only. This modify rom will give almost the fix such as root explorer and restore problem thru titanium backup.
Good luck mate.

You can download DDLRB rom from www.sammobile.com
till yesterday it was not available over OTA - i could do it with Kies. It seems a bit faster to me than LR9.
DDLRB Via KIES ONLY

DDLRB seems to be the final update for ics. So better not to mess with your yr phone trying just to check yr kernel is brickfree.
jellybean is almost here, very near in a month or 2.
DDLRB also bares the same kernel coded 3.0.15...which is porne to brick yr device, it has also bricked many s2`s.
Just wait for JB in which kernel is changed 3.0.31 which is completely brickfree...
I flashed philz ddlr9 on it.. Works fab

Working for me too .

[Q] GT-N7000 Root Issues

Hi Guys,
Probably typical Noob issue here but i will give you a run down on what my problem is.
Followed Rootmygalaxynote Video.
Downloaded
CWM.zip
CWM-SuperSU-v0.87.zip
franco.Kernel-r5.zip
All seemed ok except
1.Phone will now not find IP address and is always trying to verify.
2.Cannot connect to my computer via usb.
Downloaded Busybox and Rootchecker and it says my device is not rooted.
Question is, is there a way to sort these issues without having to use my cellular data to download something to fix it?
1. Attempted to repair by resetting modem/router
2.Tried to reinstall/update drivers but keeping getting device driver problem notification
All and any help would be appreciated.
What rom are you on? The simplest root method is to download the corresponding PhilZ kernel and flash it through recovery mode.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I am just on the stock ICS rom. Do you have a link for the PhilZ kernel. Phone still works ok but would like to be able to use wifi around the house.
Yes I'm using philz too
But be aware that it is touch based so you may(only may*)have problem using hardware keys in Philz cwm recovery

Choose the one that is for your kernel(not baseband)
And for rooting I used rootmygalaxynote.com (or something like this)
There was a method that used only one time flashing a zip
Since I did not buy this phone with guaranty I did not read about raising flash counter. But make sure you do

Once again, you don't need to root your device if you flash the PhilZ Kernel because the PhilZ Kernel is already rooted. Just flash it through stock recovery and your phone is rooted.

You said you used rootmygalaxynote.com to root your phone. That's not necessary. Coming from a stock rom you can simply flash the PhilZ Kernel through stock recovery (volume up, home and power button). That's all you need to root a Note.
