hi all!
i flashed miui rom on my note and think that it is too fancy for my simple taste. so i wish to go back to stock ics rom. i am thinking to:
1. reboot to recovery
2. wipe data/factory reset
3. wipe dalvik cache
4. restore backup
is this the correct procedure? or would i have to flash the LRT rom again and root and everything? sorry i have to ask because i think for someone not as tech-savvy as most people here, it is better to be safe than sorry. thank you for any help.
PS also anyone know of any mod to join unlimited number of contacts? i can't seem to find anything. found something but then the link it led to was already dead.

If you have a backup of the stock rom you like to go back to I would recommend flashing Abyss4.2 kernel first which over a long time has been considered as safe with wipes and stable with install/restore (except for some backups made with cwm 6+).
After install of Abyss4.2 and rebooted recovery: perform a full wipe and restore your backup.
If you want a clean stock rom instead you can download one and install with Odin =)

Greetings Folks,
I have recently update to XXLRQ with my Samsung Galaxy Note N7000. I read on a previous threat that the EMMC BUG was fixed with that release. I Root my galaxy note and wipe data (BIG MISTAKE, DON'T DO IT).
Now I'm brick, The phone gets stuck on "Samsung Galaxy note N7000" Logo and does not move from there.
I have access to Download Mode and Recovery mode. I found a previous thread about it, but it's not very user friendly, I was wondering if you happen to have a friendly way (dumb prove) to get out of EMMC brick. I don't know DOS.
Any other user with the same problem?
I have tried flashing Gingerbread Stock Rom no go. Stuck in Factory ims something
I have tried flashing ICS Stock Rom no go Stuck in Factory ims something
I've tried restoring my emergency back up done with (CMW) it got stuck.
I've tried flashing other GB roms with Abyss Kernel no go
I will appreciate it any assistance provided. I will donate to the developer who prointed to the right direction.
Thanks in advance for any assitance provided.
If you wipe XXLRQ too. Please post your case here, hopefully we may get assistance form a Senior Member

I will try to follow that guide. It's hard if you known nothing about programing
Please forgive me if this question is one which has been asked a lot; I've searched around but I'm finding a lot of conflicting information.
Exactly how do you safely flash from stock ICS (4.0.0.4; unrooted) to a new rom (for example, I'm looking at going to a CM10 rom)?
Some guides seem to say:
1) Flash a safe kernel using ODIN (I was looking at Hydrocore)
2) Flash back to a pre-rooted gingerbread rom using ODIN (e.g http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025)
3) Flash the rom you're interested in using ODIN
Or perhaps I only need to do steps 1 & 3?
Thanks!
You need to do the 1st and 3rd steps.

Also once you have flashed a safe kernel you can flash the new ROM in recovery.

Im a complete noob to this stuff so could you explain what these do exactly? Also do i just flash stock firmware to remove the root?
How did u root?
What kernel are you on?
Go to settings about phone and check
Yes you can flash the stock firmware thru pc Odin in pda tab and it will remove root.

Im not sure if i need the root to got the custom rom paranoid android jelly bean on my phone
i used this to root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26455511&postcount=2475
you will need to be rooted and on a custom kernal like hydracore etc in order to any custom rom on be it paranoid or any aother the custom kernal will help to make wiping and installing safer tho there is always a risk
i had paranoid on all i did was install hydracore kernal then wiped etc and installed paranoid with cwm i did not reinstall a stock rom there is no need
lol backup efs with ktool, save on computer, then flash a tar file kernel, like speedmod or hydra with ktool.
Reboot recovery, do the wipes, format system/data and dalvik cache. Flash jb zip, gapps (see first post rom thread) and done
If you have lots of apps, and want to keep them, do a app2zip (app from playstore) and flash that after
all own risk, and will lose data, but is cleanest way to go

Hi all,
I'm a little scared because I wanted to install a new ROM this morning.
I've done as usual by making a backup etc. .. When making a factory wipe, the phone restart and nothing since. Unable to start, impossible to put a ROM via ODIN (it stuck on <ID:0/006> factoryfs.img
<ID:0/006> NAND Write Start! )
I do not know what to do. I feel like I have no partition system. Is it possible?
Thanks for your response
what rom were you on, what kernel. how did you start the install?

I was on N7000XXLRT version. No specific Kernel wich i take here
does that mean you did not have a safe kernel?
how did you wipe?

It's possible you're bricked as you were on stock ics kernel. Flash gb rom using pc odin see how it goes and report any errors.

When i flashed via ODIN, it still blocked on NAN Write and nothing appears..
I hope the NOTE is not brick

No the Note was rooted, it's sure . I brought to pass it as collateral
just wanted to know if the CWM was built in the kernel or was it a CWM.zip file. if it was the zip file, most probably the phone is bricked
I upgraded my phone to version 4.0.3, after that I can not lock my screen and my power button does not give me options when I press the power button my phone off immediately, went searching and found that I need to put a file in the efs using root explorer app, the problem is that I can not find this file named "keyrts" where I find this file? Have a site to download? I'm Brazilian, my english is a little bad, I'm using the google translator, I am awaiting some help, thank you all.
My phone is a Galaxy Note GT-N7000 with 4.0.3!
Just ref lash your ROM from a safe kernel (ie, Hydra core or philz) and do a factory reset while still on a safe kernel
It isn't worth the time troubleshooting for you.

Be sure you understand about the brick bug before you flash anything....
If you want to install a safe kernel now like philz you can just try factory reset from recovery before flashing anything and see if it helps...

I can install the same ROM over this already installed? It will not give any problem?
If you are on a safe kernel it is OK... I wouldn't do anything without being on a safe kernel

if you are using PC odin to install the rom. doesnot matter.
if that doesnt work, check one of my threads. The lpy one, it has a link to a fix for your problem. It should bring lockscreen back also
