Hy everybody,
I have got a big problem with my i9000: it doesn't start up very properly i mean it takes a lot to start the S logo animation, the animation is very slow (really low fps) and it usually stuck at the end of the animation (only once i managed to arrive to the menu where you have to choose the language but the touchscreen was not responding). Even CWM recovery is slow! There is a lag while choosing the options. I also tried to reflash using stock Samsung ROMS such as XXJPU and XXJW7 but i get the same issue. Also tried to install custom ROM via CWM, i get the speed back but touch doesn't work! I have already searched on the site for this issue and got a thread that had exactly the same problem but didn't manged to get out from this situation (here is the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1422634, it's exactly the same issue!).
I have been flashing and repearing android devices for years and this is the first time i meet this kind of issue! Maybe it is a bootloader problem or motherboard, but i ask you experts before getting in troubles =)
Sorry for my bad english :victory:
Cheers
I think it is a hardware problem mate(since you flashed too many roms...)
Rooting wont help you too so...

Nope, but you must not try to reboot after formatting it, . You need to power down, do a battery pull and flash a ROM package with boot loader for phone to function

Uhm every rom i tried via CWM, and even the stock rom when it gets loaded, doesn't give me a working touchscreen. This problem happened last month too and after flashing a lot of roms i managed to solve it in the end, but i was just lucky because i didn't know what the device had and i solved just flashing random ROMS and getting solved with XXJW7. That's why i'm not so sure it is a hardware problem =(

Try Elite JB RC12.1, if working on jw7, do a android backup, then you'll have to flash JVU 1st, if touch screen works then it'll work with the JB rom, here's a trick, instructions are there but do this. Backup everything to pc, take out sdcard, before flash jvu, do 3 wipes, data, cache, dalvik, then go to usb mount, format 5 items there, boot, data, cache, system, sdcard ( last wipes everything). Now do 3 wipes again, yes again, flash JVU, root, transfer Rom to sdcard, 3 wipes, do usb mount, then 4 formats (not sdcard), 3 wipes again, flash JB rom. If bootloop, no bigger it just flashed kernel, take battery out, wait back in recovery flash Rom. You'll be on JB.

Why dont you try flashing your original firmware via Odin with "repartition" ticked. Once that is done, let your phone boot and see if there's and lag. If lag still persists, go to CMW, format system, boot and data and restart your phone and then check again

Hey!! I tried various ROM combinations and it worked for a few months. Although even after a few days, the problem would reappear and I was forced to flash again(it started working after flashing about 30-50 ROMs). Finally, a month back, I came across the same problem again but this time, nothing worked. After hitting my head on the wall for a month, I finally gave it to the Samsung ppl and they figured that the problem was with the touchscreen!!(zoinks!!) They will replace the touchscreen and it would cost me $145(8,000INR , expired warranty). They'll return it in 4 days. I'll post more when I get my SGS back.
Hmm, looks to me, you must have flashed something wrong/flashing process goes wrong. I would suggest this 'solution':
1. Flash a new recovery system. I suggest the latest TWRP recovery or flash the latest CWM. To me, CWM has given me lots of problems. You can flash it through computer or through CWM using their flashable zip.
2. Once then, wipe everything! Data, cache, dalvik cache.
3. Next, format the system! If you formatted system, you will lose your current rom. Meaning the phone will not boot up until you install/flash a ROM.
4.Install necessary stuff like Google Apps
Done! Things should be working right now. I had problems like you, my phone sometimes takes 2-5 minutes to boot.
I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001. So, I flashed Acro86's ICS rom. Super smooth.
Hope I helped you!

Hi, I have exactly the same problems.
I guess it's also touch error, I already changed it once and after the year and then started having problems as it was pressed alone, stuck all the time and stopped working. As I was reading and testing, I think I'll buy again the touch.

Hi,
My buddy messed up with his i9001 and the current condition when turn on the device,it show "SAMSUNG" and going directly into CWM recovery wihout me holding the power & vol up.
I've tried format system, wipe etc / partition internal SD and success installing fresh ROM zip from external SD but again it does the same again and again by going into CWM recovery. Also when in CWM recovery if reboot automatically like every 5minutes.

Yup!and odin multidownloader recognize the device.I've got into ODIN and selected the ops but i do not know where to get the tar,md rom files. or should i just use odin3?what's the difference anyway?
p/s: i do not know which rom etc it was with before.Read somewhere about PIT but i do not quite get it.I'm in Malaysia.
it's rebooting in cwm recovery.... so you will need to flash bootloader: you cand find in i9001 wiki page at cwm recovery section a link to a single post where you will have all you need to flash bootloader and instructions . Good luck !! :good:

Check Here to chose your forum/Guide by Version of your phone or you will have more problems by using wrong solutions due to differnt versions of Galaxy S
But First powerdown, pull out Battery, SIM CARD, and EXT.SD card, press power button for a minute, than powerup without SIM and Ext.SD Card....Do remember to backup your contacts, data, images etc and also your EFS folder before flashing a ROM and make sure you have more than 50% battery charge before you attempt any sort of flashing.
This alone could have solved your problem, if it did not, try a a solution from My Android Solutions

JVT is 2.3.5 , you need 2.3.6 with root and CWM to flash ICS (first) than to JB...to do this visit My Android Collections and flash JVU + root, using Odin3 and making Nandroid backup as well as EFS backup, after which you flash ICS using CWM and finally to JB using CWM ,

As in all tools, developers fix problems or improve their softwares to perform better and release newer versions, at the same time some versions may work specifically on certain models and not others
As for gapps, its same for all ROMs , actually you don't need to flash again when upgrading from CM 9 to CM 10

Flash philz kernel (.tar) from pc odin while in download mode (latest version). See if you can get into recovery, if you can, download and put the CM rom+gapps on external sd card, flash without any wipes from recovery or if you did take any nandroid backup you can restore that from philz kernel.

download philz kernel from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
download the one that says .tar instead of .zip. put the phone into download mode. Open PC odin, connect phone to pc, COM ID should light up in yellow with some number. click on PDA and choose the .tar file and click on start. once it is finished, reboot into recovery and see if it works. You can fix the counter and yellow triangle later with Triangle away application.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
download the one that says .tar instead of .zip. put the phone into download mode. Open PC odin, connect phone to pc, COM ID should light up in yellow with some number. click on PDA and choose the .tar file and click on start. once it is finished, reboot into recovery and see if it works. You can fix the counter and yellow triangle later with Triangle away application.

Is the Kernel version essential? Since Philz v5.11.2 has several Kernels you can choose from, where as you cannot check which one you have running since the phone does not boot anymore.
correct , you're right!

Why should he write it in private? I bet there are several people (including me) sitting in threads like this waiting for a clear answer from people who know what to do.

still waiting for a clear answer to proceed the steps.
Philz Kernel may need a LINK here. maybe URL ?
THanks ALL ! feel that solutions are near now.
as you cannot check, you can download the one for your region, check on sammobile.com/firmwares for which one is for your region and i already gave the link to the philz kernel, i wont post the direct url for the file.
Basically got my phone to boot, CWM is still broken, anyway to work with this?

It doesn't matter which kernel you flash, you're just flashing to give you recovery and then you can flash cm and gapps. It won't boot, it's not supposed to.

ok... i flashed the kernel: PhilZ-cwm6-DDLSC-ODD-5.11.2.tar.md5
and tried to boot into recovery mode.
the samsung logo with triangle flashed up for a half a second and i released my fingers from the keys
and then the logo show up again and nothing else happened...
is it possible to reset my phone completely? i only need a bootable phone for now...
Thanks!

Not sure I'm in the same boat...
is anyone seeing the same as I am - I also can't boot into Recovery since nightly 20130824. I can boot into Download mode... and... I can still boot into my current CM10.2 nightly (20130824)!!!
I've tried reflashing CWM using ROM Manager, even a few times... but nothing changes. Trying to get into recovery using VolUp+Home+Pwr doesn't work (after Samsung GT-N7000 white text... blackscreen (which I can see is still 'on'). If I try to boot into recovery using Rom Toolbox or similar, it behaves the same and I can only get it to reboot into the ROM once I've pulled the battery out and then put it back in and connected to a charger so the battery charging icon shows... which somehow clears the 'boot into recovery' flag somewhere.
Very concerned... saw something in the changelogs back at 20130824 about recovery fixes and wondered if this might happen. The first time I got it to boot back into the ROM something wasn't quite right with the internal/external SD mounts... all my ringtones and alerts etc. were reset to just numbers (e.g. 40125) which actually happens more often than I expect... but this time I couldn't find the ones I usually use in the selection list.
I rebooted with SD card out... then re-inserted it... and then things went back to how they should be and I could see and select my preferred tones again.
Have tried booting into Recovery via app, via hw keys... with SD card in, SD out... SIM card in... SIM out... both SD and SIM out... there's just no way into recovery.
Using ROM Manager I also tried to setup the alternative Recovery (TWRP) but that also gets stuck with the message 'ROM Manager has been set up to use your existing recovery installation'. but same behaviour when trying to boto into recovery.
I've also used Android Root Toolkit to try save/protect Root... Restore Root.. etc. but to no avail.
Any ideas... please?
EDIT: Thanks for the Odin3 / PhilZ Kernel advice - that seemed to work.
Question: Now that I've got back to recovery and updated to nightly of 20130826, did I overwrite PhilZ kernel?
yes
Yes,

Read the rom thread, fixes there
