Since you're on 4.1, i bet it's the annoying media_scanner "bug".
Solution #1:
- Install Rescan Media from the Play Store and disable media scanner (A pain in the ass after one day)
Solution #2:
- Remove big photo albums (100+ photos), remove games and delete directories with a lot of files (check /android/data after you've uninstalled apps/games)

q/a section go there search wakelocks thread and read about memory leak
you shouldnt be doing jb if you dont know basics buddy as its under development

Go to settings, apps, navigate to all, scroll down to media something, click on it, select stop, select disable.
That or use a freeze procedure from titanium backuo or romtoolbox pro. Backup app before freezing thought
Many ways to Rome should one not work

Delay in opening of Phone and Contacts

I'm running stock ics 4.0.3 rooted with GL Notecore Kernel v 3.15.
i'm getting a lag in opening the dialer and contacts. Is there any way this can be corrected ? Please help.
Have u tried to clear contacts data or cache from settings.. applications...contacts. ?
U may also try another dialer other than stock dialer and contacts as Go Contacts, this may solve all of ur problems..

same here...I've just learned to live with it.
There must be some way to speed up the process. can't we odex the two applications alone for better performance ?
Edit : Can someone who can work with the file-system odex phone and contacts .apk based on this and repost the files.

Exactly, but with the note running better specs, it must open faster. I don't know what's wrong in here. Hope this thread finds a solution.
Can someone turn the spot light in here. please.
Help wanted. Some dev please help.

I'm no dev but it's common for the contacts or phone application to open with a 1 or 2 seconds delay if they are started for the first time. Every succeding start is considerably faster. Do you use a task killer? Next time you want to open the contacts or phone application take a look at a task manager whether the corresponding apps are already running in the background or at least cached. If they are they should open almost immediately. If they are not what you described is absolutely normal.

Hi guys,
I was experiencing the same problem so I tried some other apps and I found one that in my opinion is the best - exDialer (it's free)
It opens very fast, has all functionallity of the stock dialer, and has also skinning capabilities, which I set to ICS (blue fonts on black background).
Give it a try - I hope it helps you!
I tried it. But then having two applications to perform the same task becomes useless ri8. Just one doubt, why a powerful device with 1.4Ghz process. A full gig if Ram take so long to process a simple app and that too a system app.?

I don't know the reason of the lag - but it is there and is really annoying. I had exactly the same thought as you - but I think this is related to TouchWiz UI.
Regarding having two apps for the same task is no problem to me - I just defined the exDialer as default and the stock dialer never comes up again.
And for me is common to have more than one app for the same task - I have 3 browsers, 3 e-book readers, 2 RSS organizers, 2 file browsers, and so on.
What I do is to try many different apps and eventually I find the ones that best suit my needs and then uninstall the others.

I had the same problem, while on Criskelo rom. I've gone to 4.0.4 , rooted and speedmod 3-6 kernel , and now I dont have this issue anymore. However, I belive that if you close your dialer, or contacts by using the back key, instead of Home key, you will always have this "lag". You should close your contacts and phone app , by pressing the home key.

How can i permenetly shut down that open aplications, becouse it drain my battery very fast and i can use my phone only 5 hours.
What aplication is the best for task killer and how can i solve this problem?
Is nessesery to be open so many working aplication? Is this have effect on battery?
Sorry for my bad english_
Thx in advance!

40-50 apps? I guess it's showing you the running processes and not apps. Some of them maybe system processes. And you can disable the apps through settings-applications-running-click on a app and disable. And 5 hours battery life isn't very bad if the usage is continuous with WiFi on!
Yes, i think that is a process running. I dont use wi-fi only gprs and still 5 hours of battery is a very litlle time to use_

Look 5 hrs when youre using your phone constantly isn't very bad! How old is your battery? Do hit thanks if i helpes
Battery is 2 months old.. but i wont to solve problem with that process that open in background,is that also normal? To be so much open, some of that is process but some of that is program..i will put a screenshot..
RUNNING PROGRAM:50!! I DONT USE HALF OF THAT BUT STILL IS OPEN,how can i close em down?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
It isn't normal for so many processes to be running. You are using the Touchwiz firmware. When you restart your phone and start an app, say messaging, it takes a certain time to open. Now when you close it(Not force close), and open messaging again, the time required for it to open will be significantly lesser than the last time as the process is running in the background. What I'd suggest yoy to improve your battery life is you make it a habit to periodically close the recent apps(long press home and slide the apps sidewards). And for apps like viber, uninstall them if you don't use them because apps relating to IM like gtalk, viber, skype, whatsapp will always run in the background. And do go to settings-battery to check out the battery consumption and you'll know the culprit there
Try this app Greenify if your phone is rooted, works wonders
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...eenify&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
Ya. Greenify is able to hibernate downloaded apps.

or you can try go to settings > developers options > limit background processes > and set limit to 4 process only, it doesnt affect stability and it boost performance a bit for me
I think it can help a little,..

As a general rule, free RAM is wasted RAM (except when it gets too low): http://www.androidcentral.com/ram-what-it-how-its-used-and-why-you-shouldnt-care.
As you will read, task killers are additionally counter-productive, because most of the killed apps will restart, using more battery and cpu. The most sensible way to preserve battery and resources it to use app like Autorun Manager or Autostarts, with which you can disable specific triggers causing selected apps to autorun.
If you care about battery saving, you can find more info in those two threads:

It helps me a lot. I don't have rooted phone
But can I root the phone and get access to system and root files but I want to keep this official ROM but still have rooted phone, is that possible?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Very much possible bro. Just root the phone, don't install any new ROM. There are very safe threads on how to root here in the android development forum. The PhilZ method is very easy and recommended.
What about upadete? If I root the phone,if there be an official update can I download and update the phone or 4.1.2 is the last that this phone will get? When I root the phone then I will can turn off this background programs and process?

Follow that link above. And after you root, you'll be able to use apps like greenify and the others suugested earlier in the thread. The app greenify is very useful, developed by a xda member, it allows you to hibernate apps so that a non-system process starts only when you use the app and not by itself. And yes you'll be able to update though im not sure if there will be a 4.2.2 update for note any soon. Anyway once you root, you can always install a supported custom ROM with the highest android version!

Yes. It is possible to have stock rom with root. Try searching for philz kernel. Get the one that matches your rom and flash it in recovery mode. But of cause your recovery will be changed to CWM recovery.
And it is also possible that you will not he able to.get OTA or Kies update anymore.

Running apps in memory

I happen to have 3 Galaxy Note devices, original, 8 and 10.1 and I use Samsung Link to stream shows to a tv using AllShare. When I stream something on the original Note the stream is often interrupted (perhaps twice during a 45 minute show) due to lost stream. I have finally figured that the problem is on the original Note. The Samsung Link software is "pushed" out of memory, due to incoming notifications or Dropsync doing something.
I went into the Task Manager> Available memory> Running applications, there I discovered that the Note seems to only hold two apps in memory at the time even if there are some 400 MB memory available and one of them seems to always be Google Music Player, even if I haven't launched it, not even once since booting the device.
Sooo, is there a method to a) make the Note accept more apps in memory, or B) temporarily disable GMP?
Google music player can be disabled from settings - applications. Find it and press disable.

Freeze as many apps as possible with titanium backup (Root required). Also, install Geenify for user apps taht you din't want to run unless they are active
Discovered that i couldn't disable Google Music Player, that would require me to first uninstall all the updates. Stupid setup.

It's stock. Running 4.1.2 (I think)
With all the RAM it just surprised me that it doesn't hold more than two apps in memory simultaneously and it seems rude of Google to monopolize one of those spots.

If you are rooted. Delete play music from system. And the .dex file also. If you want that app, install it from play store like a normal app. Install Greenify also. Use Greenify to hibernate play music. In that sense, you can still use play music when you want.
Unfortunately I'm Linux/Android illiterate so I run stock on everything. I see that I perhaps need to become more literate.

Thats the way to do if you want to carry on using play music and want to stop it from running when you dont use it.

How to kill Media Server once and for all?

For the past week or so, my Media Server keeps acting up and I really couldn't find a way to stop it. I don't know if it's a corrupted file or aoo that's causing this issue.
I have deleted Google Currents and Google Drive. Turned off Google now. All I have syncing is contacts, app data and keep.
What could be causing this? I took out my SD card and formatted it, didn't seem to help, I have not inserted my SD card since.
Please help me stop my Media Server from eating my battery
Are you using sonys stock rom? If so its normal to have it running... But it shouldnt be a real battery hog.... Some apps use it if im not mistaken for other processes. How many screen on time are you getting?
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
I'm having 3 hours of screen on time and screen takes up 51%
Media Server takes up 20% and can sometime go up to 30+%
Battery at 41% at the time of measurement
I'm using RomAur 8.0 with doomkernel.
I had the same problem with media server, and yesterday I deleted the xperia facebook account in the settings. Today media server seems to be normal.
Maybe the facebook integration was causing this behavior!
...but maybe this was just a damn coincidence...
Sony Xperia ZL C6503, rooted, 4.2.2 Stock
I don't have Xperia Facebook account in my settings under "All"
if u go into settings to uninstall it, is there not a tick box to stop it running?
Nope, its an android process I think

In the 3 hours of screen on time what are you doing?

(?) Storage nearly full notification, how to remove?

Basically all I want to know is how to stop, remove or otherwise prevent the 'internal storage is 75% full' notification that appears fairly often.
Better yet how do I move all my files from the phone to the SD card? Mainly photos if I'm honest.
I've tried searching but to be fair the XDA Premium app search function is rubbish, I preferred the free app search feature.

Use a file manager I use antek like previously said you can just stop notifications of the application.. Also download clean master (or something along the lines) it will allow you to clean your cache of all apps and it will also show you big files in order of size so if there are any unwanted its easier to remove
