Hi all, I flashed a stock rom, namely Flix123's V1.1 of V20S Gingerbread Update. However, the despite following the instructions in the thread, and looking through the posts, I could not find an answer to my problem.
The problem I encountered was:
1. Home button not functioning
2. No lockscreen
I've looked through other threads pertaining to this problem, but none of their solutions worked. Although I can just use another stock rom, I'd like to know the cause of the problem.
Please do advise or redirect me if there is a problem with this thread (I originally wanted to post a reply in his thread but I do not have permissions to do so at the moment).
You need to complete the configuration wizard that shows up at the first boot, don't press "exit".

EDIT: Turns out that play button does not open a video...I must have mixed that up with another phone. Thanks for your advice, TrymHansen!

Hello
Fair warning to any of you helpful and insightul people on these forums; english is not my native language.
This is my story:
I've been casually reading these forums for a while, reading about the custom ROMs available for my i9000. For no better reason than the urge for a change, I decided to get ICS for my phone, this one
My phone was not rooted before this, so I had to take all the steps in order to upgrade from (if I recall correctly) 2.2.3
The rooting went well, and so did the upgrade to CM9. However when I tried to install the Google Apps package, the phone softbricked. It kept rebooting over and over again, and after an hour or so I gave up. Nothing happened when I pressed the power button, so I just removed the battery. Realizing I had "destroyed" my phone, I searched these forums trying to find a way to recover.
A while after I was able to find a stock firmware. Using Odin I was able to make my phone up and running again.
However, here the current issues started.
1) Activating WiFi makes the phone crash. It reboots and I am unable to turn it off again. Tried 2 times, had to re-flash to the same semi-working solution again. So at the moment I am unable to use this.
2) The alarm clock is very unreliable. The alarm simply won't go off.
3) Under About Phone -> Status it says
Wi-Fi MAC address: unavailable
Bluetooth address: unavailable
I am currently running these versions:
Firmware: 2.3.3
Baseband version: I9000XXJVO
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-i9000XWJVH-CL184813 [email protected] #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XWJVH
I would appreciate any help in order to solve my problems. Basically my needs are to make the phone the way it was before I started playing around with it. I have learned my lession, this is not my field of expertise.
I am norwegian so I need a version compatible with the language (for the keyboard, I use english for the phone).
Thanks for reading, I really appreciate it. If there's any information I have forgotten to enter, just say so and I'll try my best to figure it out.

try to use its own internal testing to verify the fault, use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28482516#post28482516
Hello, and thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately this is doesn't work for me. I don't get the "activities" option when I press the screen. I can only chose between Widgets, Shortcuts, Folders and Wallpapers.

you need to use a a ICS type launcher, either Holo, launcher pro etc...just install one from google play, so that you can check out the problem.
hi im new here, so if i posted in the wrong section of the forum , please pardon me ..
anyways, i need help with my tablet, is made by huawei , not really sure what model this is but its just a low end device but still somewhat important to me since it was a gift. going back, i have rooted way back , and earlier today i installed an app called app root delete, it basically uninstalls app etc., now it has two options one is the safe mode and the other i forgot, in safe mode the app basically only disables/hides the app and you can later enable it again , and the other (the one i forget) totally uninstalls the app ,now for my problem , i was playing with using the SAFE MODE option, i was scrolling down and up since i was surprise there were alot of "apps" which i dont even remember installing , and while i was scrolling back and fort my tablet suddenly freezes and i accidentally "uninstalled/disabled" an app which im not suppose to, then i suddenly got an error message which i cant really remember but it said something like "androind.something suddenly stopped working" and it gave me an option to force close it , i kept clicking on the force close button but im still having the error message and thats when i decided to turn it off using the power key , and now when i power it on again , its always stuck on the welcome screen , i've tried powering it off and on several times, but still its stuck in the welcome screen , i hope you guys can help me. thanks in advance
Several issues with your thread.
1) Without knowing the exact model tablet you have, nobody can help you. You need to find this first.
2) Once you find out which model you have, search for its corresponding forum, and search there for information to help you. If need be, make a thread in its [email protected] forum
For what it's worth, it sounds like you are to have to delete all your data, and flash a stock ROM. Follow steps one and two, and you should be good.

Screen Stucked in "turning on wifi" when i slide to turn on my wifi.
This happens with my stock ROM, did a factory reset and did not solve the problem.
Decided to root and install custom ROM. The problem still persists.
Searched the web, got information on replacing WIFI files in /etc, did it and it did not work.
Tried sending in my phone to Samsung Service Centre in Bangkok (with stock rom), and the staff told me that they can try to fix it but not 100% sure to be able to resolve the problem. Thus bringing my phone back home again.
searched the web again and read something about EFS files.
there are no files in the WIFI folder in /efs in my situation.
IMEI and everything else is normal except the WIFI folder.
i will like to seek advise on how can i resolve my WIFI issue as i am really lost and not knowing what to do next.

Many apologies as am kind of new and noob to this..
Hi all,
This is my first post on XDA, but have found it useful in the past when needing info for my original G1 and later my HTC Desire, both of which I rooted and added custom roms on via the threads here.
Now though I am really stuck having cocked up an attempt to install Cyanogenmod 10.2 on my 4X HD.
I have a black screen with red text saying "Stuck on Critical Failure:Unable to start Kernel." and a few more lines.
I initially followed a guide at AndroidLegend but because the links in this guide went to Nightly's for 10.2 I decided to download a stable 10.1 instead. I can't post the link but the comments show the problems I was having.
The end result was that I never managed to install 10.1 and had just gone back to the original factory settings, but along the way on another forum I saw someone mention that the ROM may have the original phone name wrong and to take out the assert name in a config file, which I did (now knowing that that was the last thing I should have done). So upon rebooting I ended up where I am now.
I have searched thoroughly on these forums and have tried numerous fixes none of which none have been successful.
The one that I feel comes closest is this one by RuedasLocas (post number 7) on "Rollback Optimus 4X HD from 4.1.2 JellyBean to 4.0.3 Stock ICS"
I've followed it exactly and tried 3 or 4 times on different PC's and although I can see the phone in Device Manager and change port settings (LGE CDMA USB Serial Port to 41) etc, I never get beyond LGFlash Tool changing from "waiting" to anything downloading in Blue or failing in Red, nothing happens and my phone will just sit there in SafeMode whilst plugged in.
Can anyone suggest anything else that I need to do?
Many thanks if you got this far!

when you get to "waiting", plug out your cell phone, eject battery, put the battery back in and hold vol - while plugging it back into comp. lgflashtool should then recognise the device and start flashing.
another thing you can do is use kdz flasher, which has a bit easier interface when compared to lgflashtool.
Many thanks for the speedy reply Flying_Bear, possibly seeing some success, did as you said and a file downloaded to the device, however I am now seeing the image that I have attached.
It looks like it's saying don't remove cable and don't switch off and refresh?
Can you confirm what I should do next?
Thanks again

hmmm, truth to be told, i dont remember seeing that image appear when using lgflashtool. also, i've never seen anyone with similar problem to yours (unable to start kernel)
did you give it some time? if it didnt work, try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723; it's similar to lgflashtool, but no need to set up ports, and you can track the progress while it's flashing (lParam=x on pictures). try 20a kdz file, if that fails, report here with some more info on what the problem was. hope we can fix things for you
also, can you post the link on tutorial you followed to flash cm, just so i can check what steps you have done? just remove http from the link if you cant post it

It's working!
Just read your reply and as I wanted to wait to see what you might say I left the phone alone, so it was still attached to the pc showing that image.
I then unplugged it, held the power button down to power it down and then back on again, image of the android came up for a second showing as though it was updating, then the LG logo and then Setup started.
5 minutes later wifi and 3G were working and I was logged into Google.
So problem solved!
I'll hang back from updating further until I've read up more on XDA....thanks so much for your help though!
Greetings fellow members,
it is actually a redundancy to request your help, as my problem would not have to exist if I'd be more catious
at working with CWM. However, I originally intended to flash my P880 with CyanogenMod for what, as you
most probably know, you need CWM installed. Now, what I did not know (or what I should have known) is the fact,
that you need an unlocked bootloader to get CWM running. As I have read, that the bootloader does not allow other
programs to run whilst booting.
Well, I tried to solve the problem by following
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38838927&postcount=7
this guide here. Almost everythings works as instructed... almost.
As I try to start upgrading by clicking on the yellow arrow, nothing happens.
The ports stay gray and I can only exit the LGFlashTool.
The premiss to have the Windows Enabler switched on shall hereby be fullfilled.
So, all in all that's everything I can say at the moment.
Drivers are the newest, and everything else is done as said (in the guide).
If needed, I can create a detailed list of all things I am accomplishing step by step.
So, let's hope for the best.
Your noob sincerely,
Some Mind
Well, problem solved.
I'll just spare the solution as it is embarassing.
Never mind, thread shall be closed.
