Saludos, in my country (Perú) i have two providers, both have their own roms, but at sammobile i can only finding the TL (movistar) rom and not the CL (claro) rom, that is the reason i thought that i could update my note through kies, and get the rom from the process, am I right here?, can i get the ics rom of my operator from the kies by updating my gingerbread to ics? Sorry, i couldnt find any post related to extract a complete ROM this cause i guess the most of you can find your official rom on sammobile but not my case, I need it for warranty purposes because my goal is to flash some custom roms. The ICS 4.0.4 from my operator is available since september 17. Cheers.

To extract your rom just root with a safe kernel if you are on ics and do a nandroid that's it (save the nandroid in your pc)
If you ever need it you just need to flash a safe kernel back and restore your nandroid..
Then flash any stock kernel and that's it

just download it from kies...
so do the following.
go to kies.
conect the cell phone..
n update it..
n let it download the files nessecary to START the upgrading
(it download things twice.. the first time it downloads tools to decrypt the data that it is going to download in the SEcond download )
after the first download completes(it completed in two mins on my pc (250kbps) )
now when the second download starts.. let it download for like 1% or 2% n then disconect the device let the downlod get cancled..
now go to tools>Firmware Upgrade settings
now here you will see that there is Galaxy Note(GT-N7000)(your-mobile-number)
now tick it if it isnt ticked.. now this is an auto-download tool
now close that window after ticking. n minimise the kies window..
now go to RUN , and type %temp% n then go to Binary>GT-N7000>INU>DD
here there will be a file named something like this "DDLR6ODDLR2DDLR1DDLR6"
now this is the update file that it is downloading..
let it download it will be of 653 mb i guess approx..
n when its done downloading..
you then connect the device..
n then click on update
it will again download tools
n then it will update the device from the file it has already downloaded in that binary folder in c drive..
NOTE:
If you want a stock ROM in .tar.md5 file that you can flash from odin when ever you messup with ROMS n stuff..
then just copy the DDLR6ODDLR2DDLR1DDLR6-unziped folder or the DDLR6ODDLR2DDLR1DDLR6.zip file from the binary( go to RUN , and type %temp% n then go to Binary>GT-N7000>INU>DD) and then paste it somewhere safe..
there is .tar.md5 file in it which you can flash from the odin when ever you messup (flash it by ticking the phone option in the pc odin)
Ps: name of rom mentioned above is example, you have to replace it with ROM you are downloading.

Yeah but OP have reason to believe
If someone want particular ROM with them, this is the only solution. You already know CWM restore is never guaranteed, To have a tar file of ROM is the best option in emergency situation.
Update to ICS successful
Hi, I managed to update to ICS 4.0.4 trough kies, and copied the file downloaded by Kies_2.5.0.12094_27_11 UBLR3PETLR2WELR1UBLR3 (715147 KB), also i downloaded from sammobile the release for my country N7000UBLR3_N7000PETLR2_PET.zip (715147 KB) but I can't open the file UBLR3PETLR2WELR1UBLR3 (tried with winrar and 7zip) the other the file N7000UBLR3_N7000PETLR2_PET.zip i can open it and see the content of the .tar.md5 file showing:
Sbl.bin
cache.img
factoryfs.img
hidden.img
modem.bin
zImage
Maybe it was my mistake for copying the file after updating the phone, or could it be that this version of kies is applying some kind of encryption to the file, dunno. Well, i'm looking now for a way to get a backup with nandroid without rooting the phone, that now I can't compare with the one downloaded from the sammobile.
Now my kernel is:
3.0.15-N7000UBLR3-CL890184
[email protected]#3
SMP PREEMPT Fri Jul 13 20:10:47 KST 2012
I have to trust that my current stock kernel is the same that the published by sammobile (surely it is) I'm reading now in order to get PhilZ's awesome CWM working in my phone.
the file should be copied just after kies finishes the download. As soon as it starts to install the firmware it will convert the downloaded file into zip and then begin the install. This is the time when u need to copy. The zip file. In that u will see the tar. md5 as well.
---------- Post added at 01:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:01 AM ----------
by the name of both files they are the same firmware.
to get the philz kernel, check the last 3 letters of ur rom build and find it in the philz kernel thread. Download the zip file.
Reboot Into recovery and install zip from sd.
Select the zip u downloaded
that's it

Can you also please tell me how to flash this ?
Downloading now , this is a good to have for warranty purpose
Install Kies on your computer, connect your phone and make sure that all the drivers installed correctly. Download Odin to your PC. Extract tar file from the ROM. Put the phone into download mode (vol. down+home+power buttons), start odin, connect the phone via USB. Choose continue on the phone, make sure that only two boxes are checked in odin - Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time. Choose PDA button in Odin and select tar file you extracted before. Choose START button. The phone will reboot after the flash. Done.
Use this method only with stock firmwares. Methods are different for custom ROMs.

Its simple...assuming you have efs back up and you know what you are doing. I have no responsibility...all credit goes to chainfire the developer.
Open mobile ODIN...select open file ...select the downloaded firmware from sd card folder...press flash. its simple and working 100%. I did it so many times. if you have issues or not confident...please PM me, I'll help you.

Is this an untouched ROM. I was unable to find the original untouched ROM and from what I see/think it seems touched or perhaps a pre-release version?
Can someone please provide input. This does not seem to be the patched version that we had a minor update 0.8MB with.
I am using this version of rom only, its great only, might need a lil improvements on battery management. overall its good

Just download said ROM, extract it.
open odin (U will get in download package)
Dont check 're-partition'
select PDA in odin with CODE * file
Modem - Modem *
CSC - Multi CSC *
put mobile in Download mode, attach to PC, once you will see yellow table on COM, set START
it will be flashed in 5-10 min.
Remember, LA3 is wipe version, you will lose all your setting n installed application
It is non rootable, you can't Root it directly.
Thanks man!

Thank u so much.I'll try right now.
Thank u matius. It worked.Need to know something now.I'm still waiting for ICS.But i don't want to wait anymore. I see there is a new rom added to dr.ketan's post for Galaxy Note.ICS ROms-N7000XXLPY-4.0.3-2012 May-N7000OXALPY-Open Germany. My question is - is it the full complete stock rom of ICS for Galaxy note?I'll be able to upgrade to ICS with pc odin, the same way i downgraded to KL3 firmware.N it will not harm my warranty? In there dr.ketan added the upgrade guide too. Here is the installation method by dr.ketan ---->
Install using Mobile Odin safely
- Download N extract ROM
- Copy Extracted file to a folder e.g ICS ROM On Ext/Int SD card
- Download CF Root for LPY
- Extract CF root till get zImage file
- Copy zImage file to same above said folder in SD car
- Open Mobile Odin
- Select 'Open file' N point to ROM file
- select Kernel tab N point to zImage file
- select Ever Root option
- Flash
- You will get ICS ROM + Root + CWM
But my question is now why i need CF root?Is it necessary for this rom?I just want to stay with a official stock rom of ICS without any root at this moment. So can i just download the rom n install it with pc odin?
O n as this N7000XXLPY-4.0.3 Rom is official then i think I'll be able to upgrade all the official upgrade in future through WiFi?Cause i heard when we use custom roms it's not possible to get the official upgrade through WiFi.That time all we need to download the upgrade file n flash it.

It's the official ICS rom for Germany. This means in theory it should be possible to download OTA updates. But I can't guarantee it since the rom is for Germany and it is possible that Samsung checks what rom for which geographical market is installed prior to providing the update for download. Maybe they refuse to update your system if the installed rom is from another country.
Thank u for ur reply. But i think when Samsung will release the Rom for my region i'll be able to flash it again?N should i use the same settings in odin? I mean only check the Auto Reboot n Reset time when i flash the official ICS Rom ?

About flashing via odin
Well I am having the same question.. Before rooting I made a backup using cwm, then my friend flashed ics stunner 5.0. I don't know how but it crashed and I restore my phone using cwm backup. Now it is the stock ics but the kernel is different.. It says abyss kernel.. My question now is that if I flash the rom using the above mentioned method will I get the stock rom+ stock kernel and second question, and what about the binary counter will it increase again.???
i installed emanoN rom v7 a few months and reverting back to stock rom downloaded from samfirmware.com for some reasons
now i again flashed cyanogenmod 10.1 by rohan007(no doubt, its a great rom) :good: about a week ago
but it is too much for my mini to handle that....ram usage is always above 200 mb(why its said that mini has 384 mb ram while we get only 280 )
so i want to revert back to that stock rom which i dowloaded
but when i try to install from sd card-->choose file-->s5570ddkq7_ddkq6_INU
i get something like
e:/s5570_ddkq6_inu
(bad)
Installation aborted
WHY :crying: it worked earlier
PS: i tried from different microSD cards and copied for around 3 times to the microsd card

To root use "universal gingerbread root v.2.5"
I've tested with XWKTN ROM and all works fine.
Btw, test "chocobread" or "democracy" ROM's. Inmo they are good looking with good performance.

Open the ZIP (extract) in your computer. If you have 4 md5 files you need to flash using the 4 files method
If you have only 1 md5 file you need to flash using the 1 file method.
This is how you flash stock firmware, modded is flashed from SDcard using CWM.

Just remove any model name from ops file & then place it in OPS field.
Remember, odin detects ur phone through the ops file..., no matter whether it's physically connected to pc or not (at that instant).

take a look here, they are the original samsung firmwares and they come in zipped files - www.sammobile.com/firmware/
secondly i think i found the problem....in devices and printers- when i connect the phone it automatically shows "MSM7x27" unspecified device
u are missing drivers for it
i troubleshooted the problem and searched and installed many drivers for it but still no luck
when you will open the zip you will see tar files
ok lets be on the topic this means you have not installed tar files
download Kies latest version and install it
close it completely
open Odin and select files
boot mobile into download mode and connect it (do this after opening odin)

When i tried flashin from my Mac iusing Heimdall,
the download finished on the mac, but on the N7000
it still showed the blue line etc. I waited a lng time and tried
rebooting, but got the above.
Re-flashing in Heimdall had no effect.
I then tried flashing
hardcore-speedmod-ics-recovery-n7000.tar
using Odin 3.185 from my VMwars Fusion XP install,
and that seemed to finish ok, but no luck either.
I looked for the latest CWM 6.0.4.3 recovery, but I cannot find any
odin-flashable format for it, and of course I cannot use the sdcard
as I cannot even boot into any recovery as is.
Can anyone suggest next steps?

1st things 1st. Why would u use heimdall or odin? And what is your current ROM before trying to flash CM 10.3, was it stock? You should have looked for CWM recovery or Philz safe kernels as base when doing ROM flashing ESPECIALLY custom roms. From what you said, then can you still boot into download mode? I have no knowledge of heimdall so just download Stock Firmware, flash it with odin and see if you can boot your N7000 first.
The worst case scenarios is you are experiencing emmc bug-brick. go to the thread and read carefully to deduce your type of 'brick' and find solutions there. Good Luck.
I was on a stock 4.0.4 (but rooted). I originally tried flashing the cwm from the sd card, but after starting to load it it also just hung,
so I looked for an alternative..
I found a post on stockroms (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997) but the links all point to hotfile.com. which my browser says it cannot find. is hotfile dead? Is there an alternative?

Go to sammymobile.com if I'm not wrong. Download the stock firmware there. Rooted but do u have cwm installed? Rooted doesn't mean you have cwm installed.

I'm sorry so did u succeed or did you not succeed in installing the custom rom? If your custom rom boots fine then all u need is to search for solving status 7 error thread. My advice to all noobs is to always try n avoid installimg anything except stock rom in odin. Always read and re read before flashing anything that's beyond your knowledge. Basic knowledge of flashing cusroms is :
1. ALWAYS make sure you're on SAFE and COMPATIBLE KERNEL. Most rom threads ALWAYS Include threads/links to a specific recovery/kernel to use. Read n RE READ that.
2. Wipe everything IN RECOVERY mode before flashing a rom.

If you're able to boot up properly n prompted to wipe, then do it. But do it in recovery not on device.
Ok, I downloaded one of the stock kernels for my internatinal N7000, but flashing that with Odin 3.185 hangs about 3/4 through (has now been
sitting there for >60 mins).
Looks like I am screwed?
The file I found is KIES_HOME_N7000XXLT4_N7000OXALT4_1103517_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
I f I wanted to try flashing this with Heimdall, I'd need to know partition numbers I think
Where can I get those?
Or should I get another file?

Before that, do u have KIES installed? KIES is NOT compatible with odin and will cause potential trouble. So is some firewall and antivirus apps. You need to disable all of them before using odin. Please search the thread http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ for stock rom site.

Ok. I downloaded two stock roms from sammobile:
[email protected] 1 mathias staff 808649674 May 9 10:53 N7000XXLT5_N7000MBCLT1_MBC.zip
[email protected] 1 mathias staff 750466356 May 9 10:50 N7000XXLRL_N7000OXELR5_MBC.zip
but both fail with some (unreadable, apparently character set issue) error under ODIN.
I found this:
http://droidangel.blogspot.sg/2012/01/samsung-galaxy-note-gt-n7000-all.html
which shows how to do a full flash , including PIT file, but the links again go to hotfile which seems to be down.
http://hotfile.com/dl/140099962/b9e0d63/Q1-20110914_16GB.pit.rar.html
Where can I get a) separate
CODE_N7000xxxxx_CLxxxxxxx_REVxx_user_low_ship.tar.md5
MODEM_N7000xxxxxx_REV_00_CLxxxxxx.tar.md5
GT-N7000-CSC-MULTI-xxxxxx.tar.md5
and the PIT file?

Of course you fail... When using ODIN, U should have downloaded the .tar. if you downloaded a zip. then unzip it first to get the tar file, then you flash it with odin. All requests are included in the stock.tar And PLEASE DO NOT Play with PIT files if you don't know what you are doing.
So now what you need to do is. :
1. DISABLE KIES (Uninstall it better), Your firewall, antivirus.
2. Install CORRECT Samsung USB driver. (Search keyword "download samsung N7000 usb drivers")
3. Unzip your zip file and extract the tar.file.
4. Run ODIN as Administrator (Right click/run as)
5. Go to download mode. connect your device to Pc/laptop.
6. Wait until Odin detects your device, click AP/PDA and choose the tar file you extracted.
7. DO NOT tick partition.
8. Let it run
Of course I unzipped the zip to get a SINGLE .tar.md5, but flashing that fails on factoryfs about 3/4 through. consistently.

Try updating your odin. Use the newest vers. And try and read this https://www.google.com/url?q=http:/...ds-cse&usg=AFQjCNGd2e3iG5hkDeo0KyAjGuCSfQSLUw . If All fails then it's a confirmed SUPER-BRICK and there's nothing except samsung service centre can help you now... Sorry for not being able to help more..
Thanks. That led me to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1656635
where I found the PIT file, but for ROMs pointed to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1530501
which again points to hotfile and fileserve.com , which (besides being under maintenance) says
FileServe can only be used to download and retrieve files that you have uploaded personally.
which makes it useless for finding ROMs...
