[Q] Best ways to save battery life - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering which ROM's available makes the battery lastes the longest?
And, BTW, as I am new over here, are the ICS or JB Roms stable right now?
Thanks

Depends on your use, as a general rule, stock firmwares and barebone roms use less battery.
No stable ics or jb right now for daily use (don't flame me, its the truth), but progress is being made.

I've changed the title of the thread to reflect your main question better as we don't allow 'Which ROM is the best? ' threads on XDA.
Here are some general tips:
- If you want to save battery use a ROM which has been de-bloated & install only useful apps, the less the better.
- Root & use a firewall to allow internet access to apps you want.
- If your battery still drains very fast then install 'Better Battery Stats' app to check what's draining your battery.
Cheers !

Yes it will. Simply follow the link provided by sathkartha. There in the first post you can find links to guides that include everything.
CM7 and Miui are the fastest but battery might be a little bit worse (depends on the person, on my phone battery is basically the same as stock aprox 24-30 hrs). Miui is definitely the nicest looking out of all them though while CM7 is the fastest
Good luck
What you're asking for here is as good as "What is the best religion?". Everyone, as you can see has given you their personal opinion, but few solid grounds. In the end, you'll just have to start trying out different ROMs (if you really want to, that is) and decide for yourself, which ROM suits you the best in the end.
Among the Samsung based custom ROMs, they're all pretty much alike, with a few theme differences, but we have the UOT kitchen for that, so no biggie. What's important is you use a base you find stable, and a radio package (Modem) that gives you the best battery life (If you're in India, that would obviously be DDJV4 from the DDJV6 official Indian GB for SGS firmware). On the other hand, AOSP ROMs like CM7 and MIUI are far more robust and powerful, but at the cost of some battery life, and they're still "Work in Progress" with few bugs (which are getting ironed out... and FAST!). You'll notice the difference in a heartbeat. MIUI is simple the best THEMEable ROM available.
All in all, the decision rests with you and you alone. Choose wisely.
i guess i bricked my phone while installing the juwe rom :|
going for the stock gingerbread flash again !
For Asia firmware this is the best: pdamobiz.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=438146
i got my phone unbricked

please suggest some rom with intruction

[Q] General opinion about Roms and Kernels

Hi, I'm really new to this whole thing and reading more and more makes me very confused...
It took me half day to root & flash onecosmic's ICS RC2.1 & it's kernel
I'm having few issues with USB recognition and heard that this mod drains quite a lot of battery
So I was wondering if someone can give me an advise on (very straight forward) which rom and kernel is best to use at this stage, in terms of stability and performance
Thank you very much~

If you are new to all this, I suggest you first try out either CM7 or MIUI rom instead of ICS .. though ICS esp. onecosmic's is quite stable for daily use, it still lacks the smoothness and stability of CM7 / MIUI ...
Even I shifted to MIUI mintberry edition just today after using ICS for a couple of weeks..
about the kernel, I would suggest keeping the default kernel (that comes with the rom) for now and test other things step by step..

[Q] Rom with best battery performance?

Hey guys, i m new to your forum, so pls be nice to me :-D i just bought the i9001 for my girlfriend and i wanna flash a custom rom right away. My question now is, which rom is the most stable and offers the best battery performance? I dont wanna overclock it, since it seems to be fast enough, but as i already know from my lg device, is that battery is much better on cust roms. So i hope you can help me out and guide me the right direction. If you already have got a discussion thread about roms, pls guide me there, since i couldnt find it till now. Flashing and so on, seems far more complicated with samsung devices but i ll keep on reading, in order not to screw this beautiful device

Hi, try this UCM GingerBread Rom 2.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457437). I have installed it in my SGS+ yesterday. For now this ROM seems to be the best battery and performance combination.
best battery for me was stock rom 2.3.5
I think you will have as many answers as there's customs ROM fo GS2... I have my GS2 since few weeks only and I already tested 5 ROMS to assess which one is the best for my own usage (performance / quality / stability / battery life, etc).
So I think the ROM which has the best match for someone's usage will not be the same than for you.
So far if I could give you a reco it would be for Gingermod, CheckROM v6 or just Stock ROM + Siyha Kernel. But again take it only as my own view which can be different for someone else

He asks for a rom for the sgs+ not the sgs2.
I think it doesn't really matter which rom you take. It does matter what governor and which I/O scheduler you take! change them with no frills cpu controll for the market.
Oh thanks your right, thank all of you guys, I think i ll read some more and try to flash first, when i have enough knowledge about the phone. As far as i got, i first of all need to flash the cust recovery, then pick a rom and either flash it via recovery, or client on pc. Depending on the rom. But i guess i ll take the one from first post, since i only want it to improve battery life and not the overall performance, or even oc, since it is a good phone already ;-) again, thank all of you so far :-D
One more thing, whats the best governor and iosched for you? I prefere interactivex and simple, for battery

which jb custom to choose?

I am currently on cristelo rom ics. Since the developer has stopped support, I would like to try Jb custom rom but need opinion from fellow buddies here.
-which rom is more stable as a daily driver?
- i use phone mainly for whatsapp, SMS, Facebook,.forum runner... but . no games.
- preference to have better battery life but not a definite must as I am office bounded.
- base on the recommended rom, what are the things I need to be aware? E.g. SMS not working well.... xxx soon will hang and stuff....
Any recommendations or input appreciated.

JB is not that stable, Stay with TW roms.
And while ur at it, start reading the JB threads especially the changelogs as it will answer ur question on what works or not.
I myself am waiting for a stable release.

Just check the sticky thread in development section for various custom roms & their features. If it suits your taste you can try to install it. For me Paranoid Android 2.1 by Imilka is good JB ROM. Just keep a nandroid backup of your current ROM. Try flashing various roms following the instructions. If you dont like just restore the backup & you are back.
As has been said once & again be on a safe kernel. Hydracore is the preferred on as it is THE UNIVERSAL KERNEL...

Well advised
@OP, I don't think you should ask suggestion on which rom to choose, people have different taste and everyone will suggest different rom. Better for you is to check the respective rom threads and then choose best suited rom for you after going through rom OP and latest user comments if possible.
Jelly Core by Gavin. Found link in my signature.
I would consider AOKP JB too. I have been on it and it is really good! But, I finally went back to RR ICS because I missed S-apps...(Yeah, really freak!!)

Hey, I was a fellow Criskelo (and Chrack) user until the final release. Excellent ROM, similar to Foxhound on the GS2. In my personal opinion (hey, its only an opinion) the current JB ROMs are ok but not "different enough" to warrant using as a daily driver. I have had issues with A2DP and SMS not being received. S Apps wasnt a problem as I prefer GNote and Papyrus. I would recommend you try Chrack V15 (on Hydra 4.3), in my opinion its better than Criskelo and the battery performance is superb. You wont be disappointed.
Hope this helps.
Asylum cm10(aroma installer)
I feel its stable enough and getting a better battery life(atleast for me)

[Q] Searching for a suitable ROM [i8190n]

Hey guys !
I've recently rescued my i8190 replacing the motherboard with a i8190n, and yesterday I succesfully rooted it following this guide (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147852)
I've started searching for a suitable ROM which increase or mantain battery life and also based on newer android versions (5 or 6)
I currently considered LineageOs, Resurrection Remix and OmniROM, but I don't know which version is the most reliable and power-consumption friendly. Current android versions (7.) seems to struggle with s3 mini hardware (which is understandable) so that's why I'm looking for older versions.
Twrp will need to be installed and so far I've found this version (http://novafusion.pl/2014/09/11/release-twrp-v2-8-0-0-s3-mini/#comments) which seems to be the most reliable.
Which Rom and Twrp would you recommend me to suit my needs ?
I appreciate your help !
PD: NFC is not being used due to 3 pin battery from original i8190
Omni lollipop for stability - daily driver. I use a older version 20160325 for better battery.
Virginity V14 if you're looking for a solid stock experience.

Please report back as I also have a i8190 to resurrect so would value your opinion?
Mine will be used as an everyday phone for my 12year old daughter so stability and battery performance is top of my priority list. Latest OS/features less so.

So far I've been trying OmniROM 5.1.1 v. 20160325 and I'm pretty impressed with battery consumption. Maybe you will notice some battery drops after flashing the ROM but after some calibrations it will last longer. Keep in mind that some google services may increase consumption if you decide to install gapps, so I also recommend trying the microG (not so easy to set up but satisfying once you're using it). Also look for other "improved" aps (facebook lc, etc) in xda forums in case your daugther needs it.
Also remember to root after flash ROM in case you need root privileges for any app.
