ok so im on ics i i already unlocked the bootloader, im forsure of that.
im following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836 and on step so it says "Inside the WCXJB ROOT PACK, click shift + right click and select "Open command window here" " and when i try it will not let me, so i kept reading to see if i could understand (which i didnt) i end up here and it says i have to re wire my phone? http://unlimited.io/jb_holiday.htm
im wondering if i have to do all this just to get s-off (and can someone explain to me what s-off even does)
and if not can someone please help me get s-off or explain what i have to do after i unlocked to bootloader to flash roms onto my phone?
S-off means security off which means you can flash unsecured .img files ( kernels, etc. ) to your phone. You really don't need s-off to flash kernels, you can always flash them through fastboot.
If you don't want to do the " wire trick " to gain s-off and you have already unlocked the bootloader then skip to #4 for flashing kernels/Roms.

Thanks, but if I flash a kernal with s-on wouldn't the be a big chance ill brick my phone? And if I go to step 4 I says I have to right click+shift to open command prompt, but I don't have that option

No, you won't brick it. With s-on you have to flash the kernel in fastboot first then the Rom in recovery.
You have to put the boot.img in the same folder that adb and fastboot are in. If you downloaded the " all in one " that had the WCX recovery in you can just replace the boot.img in the same folder with the one you want to use then push shift and right click and select " open command prompt here ".
Enter " fastboot flash boot boot.img " without the quotes.

Have to tryed this from the faq?
Q: I have unlocked HBOOT 2.00.000 using the procedure at HTCDV.com and have installed a custom recovery and flash custom ROM xxxxxx, but it now hangs at the white HTC screen and won’t boot.
A: With the unlocked HBOOT 2.00.0000 the boot partition is mounted ReadOnly in Recovery mode, thus when you attempt to flash a custom ROM, the boot.img is not correctly updated.
You must manually extract the boot.img from the rom’s zip file and flash it in FASTBOOT USB mode.
1. Since you have an unlocked HBOOT 2.00.0000, then you have installed the Android SDK with adb.exe and fastboot.exe. Open the rom’s zip file and extract and copy the boot.img file to the same directory where adb.exe and fastboot.exe are installed.
2. Boot the phone into HBOOT by holding the Volume Down key and the Power key.
3. On the HBOOT menu select the FASTBOOT option.
4. Connect your phone to the PC.
5. From the PC type:
fastboot devices
6. You should see your device serial number output to the PC screen.
7. From the PC type:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
8. You should see the results of the boot.img being written.
9. From the PC type:
fastboot reboot
10. The phone should then reboot normally.

BTW it would be better if you had s-offed with nonverbose's tool, you wouldn't have to void warranty..
Sorry for my english, I'm not 100% sure that all I've written is correct xD

thank you so much. my english isnt so good either (i am from norway)
Have you got it working?
If not you could try flashing the boot.img. get the boot.img from the cm7 folder then but it in your android folder with your adb stuff. Then flash it from fastboot using commands.
Fastboot flash boot.img
I think that's what you would type? You might want to check.

Sideload a custom recovery? What? Haha
Your phone has the updated touch drivers. That is why twrp won't work. Go to their thread. Redownload the newest version. Rename it TWRP.img. Make sure its in the same folder as your fastboot files. Hold shift and right click inside the folder. Select open command prompt here. Connect the phone while its in bootloader. "fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img" "fastboot erase cache".
Good luck.

Just wanted to confirm that this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2yq-UPWtwM method is still good to go for the 1.31.651.2 software version I used it before on 1.29... no problem please let me know if there are any differences I need to know about to unlock bootloader root and flash recovery, thanks in advance and I apologize if it has been covered a thousand times and wanted to confirm I can use 2.5. TWRP with 1.31.651.2 , and yes I'm using a mac.
Boot into bootloader and have ADB, Fastboot and HTC Drivers installed for all of the following commands to execute properly while device is attached to computer...
Bootloader Unlock: navigate your command prompt to wherever your unlock token file from HTC is located on your computer and then run the command "fastboot flash unlocktoken (filename.bin)" without quotations or parentheses
Install Recovery: Navigate to where recovery image is located through command prompt and run the command "fastboot flash recovery (filename.img)" without quotations or parentheses
