if its 2g connectivity then it will behave in the same way

The 2G network disconnects data whole you are in a call. If you want your data to stay active during calls, switch to 3G networks (WCDMA).

Yes, but OP have different issue, even on 2G it should get reconnect after finishing call.

Really never heard this kind of issue, try to set network mod AUTO, as well select operator by selecting 'Automatic registration'

How can I turn off 3G and use just 2G? SOLVED

Hey everyone,
I've had my Galaxy a few days now and I noticed there's no obvious option to turn off 3G like there was on my old Topaz.
Does anyone know if it's possible to turn off 3G (not data connection, I still want to use 2G) to save battery life.

Go to settings > wireless and networks > mobile networks > use only 2g. The option is there.

Erm, that option isn't there, all it says in mobile networks is:
Data Roaming
Access Point Names
Network Mode (this is only GSM/WCDMA switching)
Network Operator
I bought my phone as handset only so there's no branding and is rooted (option wasn't there before rooting either).
Can anyone help? Is there an app that can help?

My options changed when I upgraded to the newest firmware available in Australia. GSM is 2G and WSDM is 3G.

I downloaded an app/widget from the market called DCSwitch ... it allowed me to disable/enable my HSDPA radio with the touch of single button on my homescreen.

Is it possible to disable the cellular network features but keep 3G data?

Is it possible to turn off the cellular features like calling and text messaging but keep 3G data activated? Like how you can go on airplane mode but turn wifi on manually, but for 3G instead.

3G is data through the carrier. If you are in airplane mode, 3G is off.

Yea but is there any other way to disable the sending and receiving of calls and txts and just leave data active?

Any ROM can do this: *#*#4636#*#* push Phone Information and change the network to EVDO only. Make sure to put it back though.

Go in mobile networks, access point names and create a new apn with 3g settings. Look on the internet for your carrier settings

Avoid incoming calls and messages while using data

While I'm using mobile data, an incoming call interrupts an ongoing data interaction.
Is it possible to use mobile data but disable incoming voice calls and sms messages?

Are You using 2G ?
On 2G you can only use one of this: voice/sms or data. On 3G You can use data and voice/message at the same time.
I have this problem in 2G (edge).

[Q] Data micro-cuts

Hello,
I have a Xt890 since 5 month. He is rooted, bootloader in still locked and it's the original ROM.
Since a few days, I have micro-cuts of data in 3G, for exemple when I want to listen to radio (tune in radio or others).
do you know what is causing the problem ?
Thx
It seems to me as your network provider issue, or signal dropping down to 2g speed
Sent from my XT890 using xda app-developers app
Thx, but I see always "H" as the signal.
I've tryed on the smartphone of my wife (same provider) and she as no problem of data reception in 3G.
Try reconfiguring your apn.
Get your settings from mobile supplier and re enter them
Or are you using too much data and your mobile carrier is slowing the connection
Sent from my XT890 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Thx, I've tryed but there is no improvement.
I've noticed that I don't have any problem with tv streaming in 3G but the problem for audio streaming is that buffer grows very slowly.
What could be the origin of the problem ?
