It seems like the white version get higher benchmark scores than the black Optimus 4X HD. I see white versions get 5100+ score in quadrant but the black ones get 3000+ ? How come? can anyone confirm this, thanks in advance.

Just curious... you have them both?
You tried with both and with the same settings, apps, battery level, without sd?...
Maybe under the sun that might be possible, once that the black color absorb more heat, slowing the cpu by overheat.
Come on... You gotta be kidding

Well, technically, black should perform better as it is a better emitter of thermal energy through radiation. Thus, if I am not wrong, your phone does not absorb thermal energy, because the core is of a temperature warmer then the surrounding. Thus, since thermal energy is radiated away "better" by the colour black, technically speaking, the black phone should perform better.

No guys, my friend have the black version which only get around 3500 each time in quadrant. He got to try the phone before he bought it and he tryed the white version and took a quadrant test with it and he got a score of 5000+ and this got me curious. I browsed youtube for benchmarks of this phone and it seems to me also that the white version scores much more than the black version and I don't think it's a coincidence that all the white versions get higher scores.
Examples:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLAAzBcUA5k look at 01:57 white version.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKOs2uNzK9I&feature=relmfu black version.
sorry if this off topic but which 10f version is better the europen open or the germany one or even the uk one bacuse i got 4000+ when i do the benchmark is this beacuse of all 206 apps that slow me down or my internel phone because its getting full.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh ah ah ah... my phone doesn't absorve thermal energy??? since when?... if the heat is present? Grab a black box and a white one, put a thermometer inside and tell me something about it later.
A CPU is a CPU, no matter if from a computer or a phone, and as far as I know they don't like a lot heat, otherwize Zalman would be screwed up.
And if core is warmer then the surrounding, the surrounding should cool it, if instead of that warm it up more what do we got? a warmer core... sorry, maybe my logic is wrong
But thats my basic technically opinion ( don't forget that I was talking in a situation where the phone is "under" the sun light !!! )

Here is a more detailed explanation.
In a cool area:
Black phone emits more thermal energy than the white phone through radiation. (Judging both cores are of the same temperature and in an environment that is cooler than the core.)
Conclusion: Black phone cools better, thus, runs faster.
In a warm area:
Black phone absorbs more thermal energy than the white phone through radiation. (Judging both cores are of the same temperature and in an environment that is warmer than the core.)
Conclusion: Black phone absorbs better thus, runs slower.
Of course, these are the two basic scenarios. There are more complex environments and you have to derive by yourself step by step.

Guys, I seriously doubt that the COLOR of the device makes it perform better/worse. I was just wondering if LG made different hardware for both versions. But I found an answer to it and it seems like it's only different firmware as someone mentioned above. Thanks anyway guys. Btw I've ordered the Black O4XHD.

Of course color doesn't matter
The hardware is all the same, they don't do specific for white and black...
Firmware and settings and the way we perform those changes, that counts a lot !
I just try quadrant on my black p880 and got 5091.
I have a white one, and I got 4371 that is in the middle. this prove the obvious: the fact isn't about color. but the reason is firmware version and production batch, since the factories make small improvements as long as they gain experience from previous production batches.
For shore there is no hardware difference between the black and the white version.
The latest HW version at the moment is 1.0 ; so the difference come from the SW version and from the apps installed on the phone.
By the way I am using V10f
i have the white version...
but surely, no hardware differences between the white and the black one..it's just colors...

Have a few Q's b4 i pick up the LG P970
1.Is the nova display as good as it claims? bettr than Amo-led?I need to run in sunlite all the time, as i stay in india?
2.Is there gingerbread coming in Sept?
3.How good is this fone 4 rooters? id like to root, flash custom recoveries and custom roms including CyanogenMod ?
4.I have heard the multimedia capabilities are impressive? Is that really true?
Id really appreciate it if some1 can help all these answers
Current fone- G Nexus 1, rooted, and CM7
1. Display is nice, quite handy in bright sunlight but it chugs battery like hell (even though LG claims is 50% more energy efficient than amoled) and viewing angles are not as good as amoled's.
2. Only LG knows that and so far they didn't give ant solid release date at the moment.
3. It is rootable, either by gingerbreak or by superOneClick (with some additional help for newer ROMs), as for the custom roms, well there is only one ant it's more of a tweaked stock than a standaolone custom, no Cyanogenmod for sure.
4. I wouldn't call it impressive, they are well... normal.
Ehmm IPS vs AMOLED in power consumtion. Definetly amoled wins. IPS still needs led backlight, amoled film, no.
Viewing angle is acceptable because the IPS is not the same as iphone's, I think the class is lower. But still, readable under sunlight.
Multimedia hmmm... for me is a bit below good.
Cyanogen is only a dream... the only LG device that officially supported is P990. Don't worry, we have NOVA
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
thanks 4 Discouraging me from buying the fone! looks like there is nothing special apart from da ips/nova display itself and prolly the flash on Camera(which galaxy s does not)
best to stick 2 a tried and tested fone like the S!Good 2 no it can be rooted with super1 Click
Im outta here! thanks 4 all ur help
have a good 1
this is a good phone if you think the monitor is most important. but it is a poor phone for the battery life
Nice phone with high potential, but bad battery life and low updates.
Personaly, I'm waiting for the lumix phone by panasonic. I think about changing my OB for this one or the Xperia Ray. It will depend if ICS will come for our OB.
For the price,yes.
Other one is Galaxy W.
Sent from my R800a using Tapatalk
Between the LG Optimus P970 and P990, Which would be the better phone? The price is almost no difference (around $50) But I actually like the design of the P970 better.
I think if the p970 had had an amoled and dual core pro then it would have been the MOST EPIC AND ULTIMATE PHONE EVER!
.....but it doesn't....
Can't beat the design of the phone though, just love how flat and sleek it is.
Oh well.
I fell in loved with the Design, Weight and Feel. The CPU is not High End but currently it's under utilized. Don't worry because ICS will fully utilize the power it has.

performance wise it is, comparing SIII and hardware tests i tried with a stock mobile.
do not compare whatever hack a wanna be kernel hacker can get out of something for x number of minutes.
o4x got performance, sdhc card, battery replacement support , colour accurancy.
most powerful does not in my mind include an unlocked mobile, if you look at raw facts but for the rest it is still one step behind oneX, but thats xda style

i'm sure s3 would out perform o4x

did not take me long to get a benchmark of the old firmware on oneX very close up to S3 here
if we continue with stock performance, we have already seen 12000+ on o4x, which compared to this beats s3 in a benchmark test.
S3 is close to ours but still design, quality of o4x and its better colours (not worse btb using fake black turnoff led solution).
i would say you didnt go wrong on o4x if you compare the complete picture.
edit: remember, i would have the OneX here, if it was not for the €150 difference in Denmark initially, i was simply not gonna invest that much more in pretty much the same hardware. so its not a LG thing, i got. but we can probably compare those 2 down to the hardware, with exceptions to display,bt and touch.

I don't get this trend with warm CPUs. My Galaxy Nexus used to get really hot sometimes but it never had any impact on screen quality, didn't make yellow spots or anything else.
Yesterday, I was charging the N4, while streaming and HD movie at full screen brightness. Nothing. Wasn't warm. Neither was it warm when I ran three benchmarks after one another.
Try turning on FORCE GPU RENDERING in Developer Options.

Either you are trolling or are completely oblivious to temperature changes. This phone gets really hot, because LG doesn't know crap about proper thermal design. Google was stupid not to choose Sony for this Nexus, but I'm assuming they're waiting for Sony to use Quad Cores. I'm confident that the next Nexus phone will be a Sony. I can't wait.

The Phone gets hot because the CPU burns allot of energy is has bothing to do with the phone design.
The main problem is that google totally f****d up CPU power management, why it the CPU locked at 1Ghz when the screen is on, why does it scale to 1.5 GHz when you touch the screen?? which results in swyping and typing killing the battery.

The way I do the test: Install StabilityTest, set screen brightness to 100%, run CPU+GPU Test, wrap phone in a blanket and try get the temperature to 40C or above, then check with a white background.

Since the number only refers to the month of manufacture, it is likely that there are no differences. The few differences that might influence score would be outside temperature, internal phone temperature (one might be warmer/colder than the other internally, affecting speeds) and throttling engaged during the benchmark itself.
Exactly the same apps and accounts that sync on both phones? What was the temperature of the left phone? It lacks in the 3D test, so it could be possible that it got hot enough for the GPU to get throttled. To test this, you could wipe both phones to complete stock and ensure they both have no extra app downloaded, and install a custom kernel that raises the throttle temperature higher. If they come out roughly the same, it probably means you handled the left phone more than the right so it was already warmer and thus, reached the stock throttle temperature, or that the new Nexus 4 is better at dissipating the extra heat.
And i think the "seemed just a little bit snappier" may well be a placebo as stock Nexus 4 has some pretty aggressive mpdecision stuff that ensures the experience is as smooth as can be.
304K has a yellow tint like screen. Maybe its just the picture or the camera you used and the left phone can be throttled so assuming they have both stock rom and kernel without undervolt the newer 304K has lower temperatures.

Then mold spots appear on the screen.
Then this whole bootloader, rom buggy, etc.
If this device was really good, I do not feel the need to change rom and make the machine go through so many updates. The handset comes with manufacturing a critical bug in the camera. Among other problems. Now I finally got my braces bad time. If I can not fix it I have to leave for Samsung.
I'm no novice user. I've had three devices of Lg.
Lg Optimus One Phone = Bug Phone.
Lg Optimus 2x = Bug Phone.
And now the Lg Optimus 4x = Hd Bug Phone.
I am seriously evaluating getting a Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Visit the forum of this device in Xda. Hardly find complaints about it.
Lg P880 I bought this because it is cheaper, but now I find that cheap actually ends up costing too high.

Mold spots? If that's true you can't really blame the phone 'cause moisture = mold.
Also, try playing games on any phone and it will get hot. This goes for literally any device on the planet.
Yes, it i was like to say.

Yep same here the "quad core+1" tegra 3 "blazing fast" cpu is one real bad cpu to start with, it sucks for real tasks and overheats for that matter. the screen isn't like the other hd ips screens it has a yellow temperature tint unlike the others the blues look desaturated the most out of all the colors and it feels cheaply made.

please define your "overheating"
overheating is when your device powers off, due to 90°C processor temperature...
the tegra 3 default throttle temp is 85°C, LG's is 71°C... i changed the value in my custom kernel to 80°C, so we can get a better performance also with high temps...
and have you ever been thinking what's working in your device? you've got 4 CPU cores and 1 GPU core... now think of a normal PC, what does a normal PC have, what a phone doesn't? right, a fan. or cooling in general. so the higher temps are completely normal...

that's impossible... the phone shuts itself down before that...
Somewhere is problem. I have same phone, only problem is with the bubbles under screen but chrome line still like new, no overheating (max temp about 50° when playing games) and the screen for me much better then samoled (yes, i have s3 and change it - hate design and display absolutly unreadable outside).
And stock rom? Buggy? I havent any stopped aplication since i have this phone, lg launcher is really good.
For me, only bad is camera and sound output with stock player (so im using poweramp )

i've got these bubbles, too... but i don't care
but be careful with the temp, the temp you see is the battery temp, not the processor temp
Meh, another complaining thread.. Personally, I don't even care about and i predict i'm not alone with that.
If u don't like the phone, just sell it, what's the problem?
And i don't see any overheating problems, what are You launching, Crysis from PC?
I think this is the best phone for this price.many phones is the same like ours but cost too much.desighn is verry cool,we dont have many roms and kernels because we just unlocked ours bootloaders and i think we have to wait little more for more stuf.

Play your games in the fridge! All quad cores get hot! The Samsung amoled screens are horrible! I fancy an s3 because I am a mobile gamer, but if kholks new kernel can give me the performance I was expecting then no way! Everything else about this phone is so much better than Samsung!

If you have any problems like bubbles under the screen or excessive-myfingersareburning-overheating you should probably use your warranty and get this device checked by authorized personel. Personally, I had none of these problems you mentioned. Phone is rooted, bootloader is unlocked, CyanogenMod is happily running "under the hood". Stock ROM was pretty good for me, but CM is CM. You can't say 'no' to CM. If you don't like this phone, then sell it. Note 2 is indeed a powerful device, I'm sure that you'll be happy with it. But! This phone has yet to show its true power through custom ROMs and kernels. My old 2010 flagship - HTC Desire - got ROM with JB and Touchwiz5 powered by awesome custom kernel, so I really have no doubts that our O4X, which is 10 times stronger than Desire, will get some sick modifications sooner or later (starting with EternityProject kernel and CM 10.1). Cheers! :highfive:

I can't speak much of comparing the 4X to other phones as my last phone was some crappy chinese knock-off of a htc sensation. But my 4X is built very well (id like to see what you guys mention as 'bubbles' under your screen, was it like that since you brought it?) the phone does get ridiculously hot (you might have seen my thread about my screen suffering major distortion for a few hours, due to overheating while on ac charge ), but again well within tegra 3 specs (this this is stock clocked at 1.5ghz which is 200mhz higher than my tf300t tablet which has much more room to dissipate heat)
Im in love with the design of the phone, only issue i have is i feel the back button is on the wrong side but i use LMT launcher anyway(if you don't know what it is i suggest you look it up). The stock firmware was fine(no issues) other than feeling bloated, stock jellybean was slightly smoother and a bit lighter, CM10.1 is absolutely amazing and in my opinion increases the value of the phone drastically.
Just my take on it.....

I know, I look at temperature shown in hidden menu > cpu usage.

My last phone was a One X and this is on a par at least with that, except in gaming until I at least hope custom kernels will change that.
