Why I'll lost my sound during calls?? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just faced a problem. I've my Note flashed to stock ICS and rooted last month. But this week, problems came. During call, I can suddenly can't hear anything, or the sound become blur. Is this because of signal problem or I should change a modem?? Will reflash the stock ICS help??

Try making a call with the headset. If you can hear ok, you may have a hardware issue with the speaker, best to verify if it's hardware or software first.

Same issue here.
Tried to update the modem but no luck.

Some calls are quiet cm7 nightly glitch jvs baseband

Hi, some incoming calls are silent for me, the other side can understand me anyway.
Calls, which i understand, are way too loud. Reflashed the jvs modem through rom manager. Did not solve anything.
Glitch supports voodoo, may be this is causing the problem of the loudness?

Are you saying that even if you turn the volume all the way up, it's still too quiet?
it is completely silent. Dont want to say muted, because that would probably indicate a problem with my phone speaker. But its not. It is like there is no call accepted. It happens randomly i think. and even if i turn on the speaker or plug in a headset the problem still exists.
Calls which i am able to answer, are too loud. This one belongs to voodoo i think or other sound related settings.
additional info: live in Europe, had same issues with several other Roms (ie myICS, where they told me to reflash my modem)

Known issue, if you put the call on hold and unhold you will get sound back. If you want to help solve it, you should go back to stock kernel and post pastebin link to logcat and kmsg in the cm7 nightly thread.
Edit: nvm you are on MIUI. You will only get flamed if you post anything from that ROM in cm7 thread :O

Hi,
Sorry for slight necro, but I didn't want to post a new thread when it was already on the board :/
This problem has been driving me NUTS! Since ICS hit my phone I have also lost mic in speakerphone mode...which renders speakerphone almost useless.
I have flashed several different kernels and ROMs and all have had the same issue, I always wipe data/cache/dalvik when flashing and with the last flash i also fixed permissions and still have the same problem. The mic itself works fine in voice search etc, but when you toggle speakerphone on it is muted.
My latest flash was to Hydracore kernel with BlackCNA 2.1 ROM (my first time trying an non-samsung ROM and I love it). Does anyone know if this is a kernel/ROM issue??

have also tested the BlackCNA 2.1 ROM and I have not had to issue. It must come from your speaker
Is it possible this is a hardware fault? The mic works flawlessly in all other scenarios (that I have tried), Google voice search works perfectly. Could powering on the speaker short the mic somehow?

Franco kernel was discontinued after 4.0.3 i suggest you flash a hydracore kernel

as mentioned there are 2 mics on not.. its possible that the apps are picking up sound from the botton mic and the top mic is faulty
Ah, I missed that in the post above. Is there any way to test the hardware separately to rule out kernel or rom?

ya even i was looking for an app for that

[Q] Help! Microphone has become very quiet?

When making calls I have to literally shout down the mic for people to even hear me, the voice recorder is the same. Using a headset works perfectly fine. I am assuming its a hardware fault? Although I did upgrade to 4.2 this week and it only started happening after. What are my options realistically? Should I demand a replacement? Get it sent for repairs? I've had it for about 3 months and I'm with T-mobile in the UK.
have you tried to make a simple factory reset? this could help after the update.
it could be a software-issue, because it appeared after the update on 4.2.. if the reset doesn't help, you could flash back to a 4.1 based rom and see if it gets louder again..

[Q] Strange call problem

Hey there!
I am very happy with my HTC One even after the announcement of the M8, but since a few days I have a very strange problem.
Every time I try to take a call, I need to enable the speaker, since the one I am calling with can't hear me without.
It seems like my voice is there, but really really quite.
I was using Viper One till today and it happened between 5.60 and 5.70, but today I changed the rom to see whether it could be a rom problem and using now InsertCoin SixthSense 1.0.1.
My HTC One is unlocked, S-OFF and of course rooted... any idea, what could fix my really quite voice, instead of screaming or using the speaker the whole time? I don't like it, when everybody can hear me talking on the phone, I'm no Eric Cartman.
Record some video with very loud sounds. Try blowing or whistling directly into the mic . Sounds crazy but it has worked for others.

Will try both "fixes" tomorrow.
So it's a already known problem for some users?
Btw: I tried to use Shazam and it also nearly identifies no music, even if it is in front of the speaker. So it has to be something with the normal mic. But why does it work flawlessly, when talking with the speaker enabled?
I suppose it could affect all mic functions. I personally experienced this with phone calls and personally fixed it with loud recordings (as did others), i didn't check shazam ..
Sent from my PC36100 using xda app-developers app
Okay tried it a few days ago with whistling directly into the mic and it didn't fixed my problem.
So I decided to try the extremely loud recording and it sadly also didn't worked.
But I found out, that it has been gotten worse than before. My recordings on 29.03 went with a few quite whistles, but my recording yesterday couldn't record any whistle at all and only got music, after I increased the volume to +300 and it's still really quite.
I also tried to flash a new radio and kernel, none of them fixed anything.
So I guess, flashing back to stock and bringing it to a repair station is the last chance I have?

[Q] Very strange problem with sound...!

Hi there,
I have flashed my ROM to 4.4 official but afther that I've got a very bad problem with my sound.
After I answer a phone call or call someone myself, my cell phone's sound doesn't come out of speaker and it comes from the hearing speaker on top of the cell phone (The speaker that when we call someone hear his voice from it). This problem continues until I restart the phone.
What's my problem? What can I do to solve it?
Oh the pain and agony you must be going through now.
