Bootloop and cannot use recovery. Need Help - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

Dear you guys,
Suddenly when my p7300 (running CM9 nightly 120923) can't get through bootanimation (i comes to the animation for few second and then reboot again).
I tried Recovery, but it feels there are problems with the SDCards (??) as whenevery I choose to enter Download folder (where I stored the rom.zip), Recovery show empty and rebooted the device again.
What should I do?

I tried restoring from nandriod backup and it reboot when trying to reboot data partition' but at least it is booted ok now. Recovery is 6.0.1.0.
I cant wipe data. Should I flash recovery vesion 5?
Edit:
I did try v5 again but it doesn't flash cm9 (some error).
I flashed again 6.0.0.8, and flash cm9 again, the same boot loop happened. I can only use the restored one now (half restored anyway), and superuser is not working ('cause it can't wipe data partition?). Please help me out.

Your data partition is corrupted.
Use Odin to flash a P7300 .pit file, followed by an official ROM. From there, select "Wipe Data" in recovery.
You WILL lose all your data, even the one on the internal memory.

Can you point me to the .pit and and official rom?
I have never used Odin before but I have got it downloaded (odin 3 1.85)
I looked in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582943
But there are only Honeycom for 7300, and there are several of them. I looked in "About Tablet" and it says here, under base hand, P7300XXKHC

Anyone? Pls help me to choose the right one. I saw a pit file in odin folder, is that the one?

Need help with SGS Looping Issues

Essentially I am at a lost of what to do.
I have tried everything to no prevail which leads to me to my defeat post here for a cry for help.
I DO NOT believe I have bricked it yet because I can still get into download mode and CVM but it doesn't look like this image: http://blog.laptopmag.com/wpress/wp.../Clockwork-Mod-Boot-Screen-e1279545586372.jpg
which is what I wanted. My original plan was to install a new ROM however, I do not have that option "install zip from sdcard". Therefore I had to install the Speedmod Kernel which is why
ANYWAYS moving on, I have tried Heimdall and Odin. I have been able to bootup the phone. HOWEVER it doesn't load a ROM because the Samsung Galaxy GT i9000 logo just keeps looping. Like I said, I am able to get into Download mode and CVM with the new menu. However, when I click anything the screen goes blank and nothing happens. I am at a complete loss of what to do. I have tried everything and I'm looking to advice.
Thanks and hope to hear from you all.
If I remember correctly the Speedmod Kernel uses the power button to select options and if you click the home button the screen will go black.
If this is not the issue then reverting to a stock Rom is probably your best option.
Find a stock Rom at: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9000&r=-1#modelsa (this link is for international version) just select your country. from the links just above Firmwares for GT-I9000 .
From here you want to get a pit 512 & make sure you have a firmware with 3 files (PDA, Phone, CSC) . From here there are plenty tutorials on how to install a stock ROM.
If your issue is not pressing the wrong button in speedmod let me know and I'll be happy to provide a basic list of what to do... or provide a link.
Thanks for the quick reply, I have done that. I have installed the best one I could find: I9000XXJVQ
I put the following 4 files in Odin:
s1_odin_20100512 (PIT)
CODE (PDA)
CSC (CSC)
MODEM (PHONE)
It brings me to Android system recover <3e>. From there I'm at a lost at what to do. I see when it says
Code:
Copying media file
E:failed to mount. /sdcard (File exists)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount /sdcard you storage not prepared yet. please use UI menu for format and reboot actions.
Media files copy failed.

From there I do not know what to do. When I click reboot system now; nothing occurs, the SGS image at the beginning still continues to loop. I'm looking at how to install the CVM so I can install my custom ROM.
I believe in the past I managed to do it (I installed the Dark Knight mod; but when it booted it said Encryption Unsuccessful and it only happened once. Was never able to get past that screen).
Anyways, that's the instruction from what I did above. What next (It's still looping at the SGS text at the startup).
EDIT:
From this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9336821&postcount=2
I then followed the install instructions for Root XXJVQ
The thing installed, it still has the issues. Opens the SGS start screen and doesn't go anywhere.
Further EDIT:
I then restarted the phone with following combination. (Power + Vol Up + Home). It then launched in CVM. I cleared partition and cache. I then installed the .zip ROM file (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510940&highlight=cyanogen) from SD card. Rebooted system. It launches. Says "Encryption Unsuccessful" Please restart phone. I click the restart phone button. It restarts, I then get the android looking icon dead on the ground with it's chest open with a "Red triangle !" above it. Stuck from here.
Wish I could help further. In my experience I had to flash stock twice. Once with with pit file and repartition selected. Once without pit file and repartition unchecked.
From there to flash a custom ROM you need to get rid of 3e recovery by flashing something like CF-roof. Then once you have cf-root you can instal custom ROM.
Here is link for cf-root

I did the above. It boots into CVM. I install the custom ROM. It counts down Waiting for SD Card to mount (20s, 19s, 18s....). Then it just restarts and keeps looping like that. Suggestions?
Unfortunately that is the end of what I know still fairly new to all this. Hourly someone else can help.

HOw long did it take for the ROM to install?
Have you tried removing the battery, battery back in recovery and reflash the ROM.
ICSSGS 4.2 has a requirement to be flashed twice. (different rom but may be similar issue)
Once to update the bootloader which will result in a boot loop when coming from a Gingerbread ROM and again to fully install the rom
Lastly download the ROM again checking the MD5 checksum before flashing
I trust that this will assist
Does it matter if it is installed from the External SD or Internal SD because when I try to install from the internal SD it says "Can't mount /emmc/" so I'm only able to install from the external SD.
I tried installing it twice. I still get the encryption unsuccessful screen. I also re-downloaded the ROM.
OK ii think what you need to do now is try to get the phone to boot successfully into a stock rom for your region.
You mentioned in the first 2 or 3 posts that you did download from SamFirmware a stock rom.
It is probably a Odin flashable ROM
Is it a 3 file or 1 file?
Flash and then boot up the phone to be able to use it.
If successfull move on to the next step.
If you have been able to do this before i would suggest to try a different ROM.
I can personally recomend the ICSSGS 4.2 ROM following the instructions on the opening post for that ROM
If this works then try Dark Knight or other ROM
If this post has helped please use the Thanks Button

Unfortunately, it does not boot into stock ROM. It just loops.
I tried to do it over again. I used a different firmware: I9000XXJVU_I9000OXAJVU_OXA
So let's begin by retracing everything I did.
1) I essentially did this: http://www.androidegis.com/how-to/learn-how-to-install-xxjvu-firmware-on-galaxy-s-i9000/ (so it had the 4 files: pit, PDA, Code & CSC)
2) After I did that, I went into Odin and Put this as PDA "CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS" and clicked start
3) It then loaded but it keep looping. I had a feeling it didn't have a ROM installed. I erased data, cache and etc. Then I installed the Dark Knight 3 ROM. Install by external SD because I couldn't get the internal SD to work "Can't mount /emmc/" error.
4) I then reboot. I get the ROM loading screen. Then boom, stuck on Encryption Unsuccessful.
5) I put it back in recovery mode and repeat step 3 again.
6) I get the encryption error again.
Pretty much stuck at there.
so what you are saying is that no matter what firmware you flash it will boot loop?
I personally would not be trying a ICS ROM until you can boot a gingerbread rom successfully.
I have personally softbricked my phone once where i then was able to get into 3BR but was unable to boot due to a bad flash reflashing a gingerbread rom a couple of times with odin worked for me.
Try reflashing your JVU rom 2 times in a row.
I assume that you are able to get into 3BR if so what happens if you try to mount /system is there a error message?
When the phone is boot looping what is displayed on the screen?

from what you are doing it seems like you aren't doing what we say. Sorry if this is not the case.
1. Follow steps from your link above.
2. Attempt to reboot. Most likely you will be stuck in boot.
3. Flash again steps as link above. This time do not use pit and make sure repartition is unchecked.
4. Now boot. This time you should boot into stock.
5. Once in stock set USB debugging on and connect phone to PC and copy ROM you want to flash to internal sd card .
6. Flash CF-root with Odin.
8. Restart phone in to recovery and flash ROM on sd card.
Sorry to repeat this but none of what you say mentions flashing stock twice once with and once without repartition checked. You need to do this right after each other.
Sent from my GT-P7500 using xda premium
So your suggestion is to keep doing JVU flashing until I can get it to work? Do I just follow that instruction and do the flash once with the PIT file (and repartition) and do it again without the PIT file? If it still doesn't boot, what then?
The phone boot looping. RIGHT when you turn on the phone. It has that Samsung Galaxy I9000 screen. It just has that, goes black for like 2-3 seconds then resets itself over and over again.
There is no issue with mount /system. I believe when I try to mount /emmc, there is an error. This is important because this is what lets me access the internal SD.

It just goes into Android system recovery <3e> and the copying media files fails (both times I flash it). Just an error, still can reboot system and etc but I don't think anything happens.
This error on the second flash is

Click Reboot Now is <3e>. Nothing happens, it boots up. Shows the first Samsung Galaxy S screen, does nothing. About to boot stock ROM but doesn't. Loops it back to the SGS screen once more. Then it just shuts off and a picture of a battery shows up?
If you are flashing through Odin twice all three files 1st time with pit and repartition checked, second time without pit and repartition unchecked and still have issues then I would say problem may be with phone but I am new to this myself. Only commenting and given suggestions as I had similar issues which I resolved with steps I mentioned.
Options would be to download another stock ROM and do a checksum to ensure it is fine, download a different version of Odin (i use odin 1.85) and a new 512 pit file, reinstall the drivers for the phone, try it all on a different PC. Also make sure kies is not running when you do this (kill any background services.for kies) and try disable your antivirus on your PC. Also remove external as card and Sim.
If these suggestions don't help try search google for those errors you are getting. That's what I have done and managed to sort every issue so far.

Ok lots of reading in past posts here's what I would do and it works everytime. Google links to xxjvu firmware and and use those three files plus pit 512 repartition checkedand flash. Then to root your phone simply go to darky website. But before you do any of that tell me what rom you were on before you flashed new kernel and what exactly were you trying to accomplish out of your phone. ie.end result and who your service provider is. If you pm me I can walk you through it no problem.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
It was 2.3.3 I believe before I did it.
My goal is to put a nice custom ROM (looking towards Dark Knight 3).
I have no idea what the specific darky rom I need.
Service provider was Virgin Canada.
Been thinking. Have you tried using heimdal. Try search for a tutorial that flashes a stock ROM with heimdal.
Sent from my GT-P7500 using xda premium
What did you have before the problems? Was it a lagfixed rom with ext4 partitions?
I've had strange problems when I tried to flash stuff with a lagfix, try to flash your stock base, and then flash a kernel that supports ext4. See if it boots up. If it does, disable lagfix and then change to whatever you want

[solved] Soft brick, tablet resets during recovery activities

I have the wifi only 7310 model of the 8.9
Overcme CwM Recovery 5.1.2.6
ROM was Galaxian Soup AOSP 1.6
My tablet resets during recovery. Half through a data wipe ROM install ROM backup or ROM restore it will reset and reboot.
It first happened when i booted into recovery and triedROM issue. to make a back up of m y current ROM and attempt to flash the aokp one. It reset during the backup process.
It shouldn't be a ROM issue. My tablet did this once before, it would reset when i did anything involvng dataon an Overcome ROM i think. Data wipe/backup etc. I left it alone while the ROM still worked and tried again a week later with no issues.
Any ideas? Now i have a soft brick that cant boot past the Samsung Screen. I can get into recovery and download modes.
EDIT* added a video
EDIT2:
The issue was solved.
What ended up happening what i attempted to flash back to stock software, ODIN would stall during the system.img. From this point i thought it was done, but i could still get into the stock recovery, i used the stock recovery to wipe the data after several failed attempts in a similar manner to this video.
One day it just worked. I could finally wipe data and cache without a reset. But i could't flash a file because ODIN would still freeze on the system.img. It was suwandiapr who showed me his walkthrough to push an file to recovery from adb. Thank you so much
I do NOT know why it my tablet/recovery starting resetting when i wanted to do a data/cache wipe/restore or why it decided to start doing it again. I tried the 5.5 cwm, the overcome 5.1 and the stock and none of them worked. Today i tried it on an off chance of boredom and it started working again. It is a confusing situation but that is what happened.
Again that you so much to Mr.Home and especially suwandiapr for all your help
> If you had a back up you can do advanced restore of just your system partition to get you tablet back on, though you will probably still have problem with the recovery
> If not, download the stock firmware tar.
Boot up to download mode using the power + vol combo.
flash the stock tar through odin.
boot up to download mode again.
this time flash the cwm recovery.
boot up to recovery mode.
wipe dalvikcache and data.
install aokp and gapps.
if it fails (cwm recovery stuck and reboots by itself during wiping /data partition or dalvik cache)
,chances are your data partition had been corrupted.
You can try fixing this by reflashing the stock firmware tar through odin again
just this time you need to have re-partition ticked.
and repeat above steps.
Take note that this will format the content your sd card too apart from the /data partition
EDIT: Please post this on the general section next time

Download Odin 1.85
Install Samsung USB drivers (should come with Kies)
Download stock firmware from samfirmware
Check the box beside PDA
Put the .md5 file into the PDA slot
Leave all other options on defaults
Put tablet into Download Mode (power and vol -, select the one that isn't recovery)
Connect it to your PC
Press START in Odin
Wait ~10 minutes
NOTE: this shouldn't wipe the internal sdcard. if you need to wipe that, select repartition and give Odin a PIT FOR THE P7310/7300 MAKE SURE IT'S THE RIGHT ONE OR YOU WILL BRICK BADLY.

Do you have a backup of yours in computer? If yes.. Push your file to device with adb...
Or replace with cwm 5.5.0.4.. ( if you not familiar with odin)
From cwm recovery 5.1.2.6 mount your /data and /system..
After that push your file (cwm 5.5.0.4. Zip and your backup file) to sdcard trough adb
Install cwm 5.5.0.4 from your recovery..then reboot..
Before you install your backup file.. Try to wipe and reboot your phone.. If problem still exist.. Your assumption about ROM may right.. But if your booting problem disappear.. I think its because yor recovery..

After looking at the video, I noticed something similar that had happened to me before.
It happened when I tried to wipe the "cache" first, instead of wiping only the "dalvik cache".
After that, whenever i tried to wipe the dalvik cache/reset factory data,
the recovery reboots by itself halfway through.

Check the thread in my signature on the ODIN How-To, Drivers (no Kies/Bloat needed for drivers) and more. If I were you I'd ODIN so the Stock Recovery is restored in place. Looks like something went wrong in your CWM Recovery's installation (could be a bad download you had, it happens). All the files you need (except for the ODIN image) are in my General Guide.

Well, i just don't wipe cache. Only the dalvikcache and all went well..
I have a soft brick, no memory or sd card data. I can get into recovery but i don't have any files on the tablet to flash.
Are you windows user? if yes..
Just like my answer from previous post.. See page one!
Mount your /system and /data partition from recovery menu..(from cwm)
From your computer.. Use this tools for pushing the file flashable.zip to device..
After that you can flash a new rom from recovery..

Galaxy Ace don't start after restoring

Hello,
My Galaxy Ace don't boot after restoring the backup I did, that is what I've done to screw it up:
I installed Cyanogenmod 7.2. Phone was working without problems.
Because I want to unlock it I tried to restore backup to get the original rom. I got an error: Can't restore system.
Tried to start the phone. Don't work, "SAMSUNG" appears on the screen but after a while screen became black, then "SAMSUNG" appears again, then black, ...
Tried to wipe all and install Cyanogenmod again.
No error but phone don't boot, just "SAMSUNG" on the screen, then black, then "SAMSUNG", ...
What can I do?
I've found several guides to unbrick aces but I would prefer don't touch anything if not sure.
did you tried to flash your phone via odin? if not do that
download your region firmware from sammobiles.com
unzip it to get a .tar.md5 file
put your ace in downloading mode.
start odin in your pc and connect your phone.
tick the one package option.
select the cooper.ops
select your downloaded firmware file (.tar.md5)
and click start.
wait for odin to display pass.
if your phone is still in bootloop after the flashing is done..
then reboot to recovery and give a wipe data/factory restore
i had this bootloop problem sometimes but a data wipe works fine
You can't restore a stock rom backup directly from a custom rom installation. The use different file systems (that's why system wasn't restored)
Flash a stock rom with Odin (to convert your file system to stock), root it, install cwm recovery and restore your backup. Works wonders.
Thank you guys, phone back to life.
I just use odin like @deAthbLisS told me and phone started again.
After that:
Unlock the phone.
Install cyanogenmod again.
(I had some trouble here because cm zip file was corrupt due to a memory card problem, I had to use a card from other phone)
Now it's all ok.
I really appreciate your help, thanks

Help !!! Booting loop problem can't fix ..

I had a working stock firmware until I decided to install this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1793511
First it worked after few application installation and restart, I had booting loop problems, the Samsung Animation at start up then the Samsung Text and stuck in it for ever ..
I used Odin to flash to stock firmware DDKQ7_annson08.tar.md5, previously it worked. I did factory reset and wipe cache, but still the same problem,
I tried flashing for three times but no luck. I did the factory reset and wipe cache both before the flashing and after the flashing but no luck.
Please give me some ideas to fix it.
Whenever I quit the default stock firmware recovery it says Can't mount data partition
E: failed to mount /data invalid argument something like this.
Help
Have you installed it through ClockWorkMod recovery?
The steps needed to follow precisely is:
- Install Stock GB Firmware through Odin (You'll get it from Sammobile)
(It would be helpful if you specified the link where you installed the stock firmware)
- Install CWM recovery through Odin
- Boot into recovery and wipe data/cache/dalvik-cache/battery stats
- Install Zip from SD card
- Again wipe data/cache/dalvik-cache/battery stats
- Reboot
EDIT: I guess you installed/updated to GB from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551586
If you updated from Froyo to GB with that link, it won't work because the bootloaders are removed from them. In order for Gingerbread/ICS/JB to work you need to have GB bootloader. So search in Sammobile and install stock firmware from there.
download stock fw from yagyagaire.blogspot.com
n then to move further..

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551586
If you updated from Froyo to GB with that link, it won't work because the bootloaders are removed from them. In order for Gingerbread/ICS/JB to work you need to have GB bootloader. So search in Sammobile and install stock firmware from there.

Hello camerg,
There can be many indication of the problem that you are facing... It looks like you are from India, so I suggest you to flash this latest official Indian firmware using Odin. Full instructions are at : http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/12/how-to-upgrade-samsung-galaxy-pop-to.html
After flashing the rom, wait till Odin says PASS and then go to recovery and do a data and cache wipe and reboot your handset. Your galaxy mini should boot fine.
If your handset doesn't boot still then, install CWM using Odin and then flash any custom rom using clockwork mod recovery. Now after flashing the rom wait for few minutes and your handset should boot fine.
Good Luck and Happy flashing!
Hey man, how are you doin'?
were you able to flash it using odin and followed all of the steps these guys informing you and the links given to you.
which one, if you are stuck on the Samsung logo and it doesnt wanna go all the way through, you either go and visit the service center or if you know a repair shop, go there and your phone needs JTAGGING. if your phone is stuck on the SAMSUNG logo.
if you can access the stock recovery mode, install the latest CWM, go to the mounts and storage > select format data, cache, system, and SD-ext. this similarly happened to me. i selected the wipe data/factory reset option but it didnt resolve the problem and it is saying something like E: error cant mount yada yada yada.... i wiped them one by one and worked.
your phone wont be needing JTAGGING if you can access the recovery mode of it. it means that your phone's system (Hardware) has no damaged in it, it is your phone's software. do these steps in order for the phone to wipe everything by doing it one by one
give us a reply if this worked.
Hi
Go and flash a stock 2.3.6 ROM from Samfrimware.com using odin after you get pass sign from odin if you get boot loop clear data an cache from recovery and reboot if you get boot loop flash the file that is same to your ROM with Odin from here like if you downloaded gt-s5570 jpkt2 then the jpkt2 PDA file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398797
And partion your SD card to ext4 to be your new data partion and the secondary partion that you must fat if you have a 2gb SD or smaller and if you have 4gb SD or larger select fat32 and the two partions must be primary then pot your SD in the phone and reboot this will make the phone mount the ext4 partion as your phones data partion so if there are a problem with the phones data partion it will make the work again

[Q] Can't Install KitKat on s3 mini HELP!

Here are two posts I posted on another site. If someone could help me out here, it would be greatly appreciated.
Post 1
I have a Galaxy s3 mini GT-I8190L and I tried rooting and installing Kitkat but I've been having some issues.
Here is what I did:
Downloaded Odin and Kies (for the phone drivers, Kies was closed while using Odin)
Downloaded CMW Recovery and a root.zip file
Flashed CMW and placed the root.zip on extSD card.
In Recovery mode, backed up system then installed the root file.
Downloaded Root Checker and it said I have root.
Then downloaded slim4.4_golden.nova.20140630.zip and a gapps file and placed them both on the extSD.
Using Recovery (Vol Up+Home+Power), wiped data and davika (whatever it's called) and then flashed slim4 file. But I got an error.
I then tried cm11.0_golden.nova.20140823.zip which went smoothly and then gapps-kk-20140606-signed.zip but in middle it stopped with an error and said something about process 7 (I think).
Anyone know what I should do? Would it be better to go through Odin instead of Recovery (using Odin compatible files, of course)?
Post 2
Changed to TWRP2
Backed up all data then did a full format incl. chache and davlik.
Then installed th SlimKAT file and gApps.
(I did NOT format chache after install)
Rebooted pone and saw Galaxy sIII mini screen like normal then cam SlimKAT logo (replacing Samsung's) but it just remained on the flashing SlimKAT logo.
I removed the battery and restored the phone using TWRP Recovery.
I then downloaded Nova Fusion's CM11 for s3 mini and tried flashing it but I got a Failed message. This happened with a number of Nova's files, including the latest (cm11.0_goldem.nova.20140830.zip)
I tried downloading the Odin version but for some reason it keeps stopping in middle (and I don't have unlimited internet and can't keep downloading files).
Didn't think this should be so hard...
Any help would be appreciated!
Please note, during part of this time I was unable to get into DOWNLOAD or RECOVERY modes. I ended up removing the battery and that helped, but for only one time. I had to remove the battery a number of times to get into these modes.
If you need more info, I will try to give it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Enable 3 button combo?

CWM doesnt support KitKat, you need TWRP or Philz touch.
or flash via odin
