Long press shiver - LG Optimus 2x

I'm using temasek's rom, and i don't remember if this "bug" was present in the default rom, because i changed it the day after I brought the phone .
So the thouch seems to be to sensitive. For exampe I am in Opera, and try to long press on a link. When i put my finger on it, the link shiver/shake's under my finger until the long press is triggered, often resulting that i press near the link not on it. I have to be very precise and once i put my finger on the screen don't move it at all.
I had before a optimus p500 an that one didn't had this "feature", also I test this today on a samsung galaxy advanced and it works fine on it.
Doese my phone has some broken hardware or all of you guys have it?

That bug is with opera in that it doesn't deal with finger shakes. The optimus 2x might have more finger shakes, but it depends on your own environment, I think humidity does affect the touchscreen.
The default browser does prevent finger shakes though. For me, on opera, I zoom in closer to tap the link. Bigger button, so the shake is less significant.

Any way to REALLY scroll with thumbwheel ?

Hi !
I'm looking for a way to scroll with the thumbwheel (right now it's just as pressing up/down which does different things depending on the app). I know it could be done, since we have the finger scrolling which works as a REAL scroll, so if moving the thumb down would act the same as finger scrolling for 1cm, for example, than it would be a real scroll.
BTW: as i'm typing this, i'm starting to program an app to do it, so if i don't find a solution, i'l make one myself... muahahaha(evil laugh)... of course i'll share it... free.
Please tell me if you know a solution, so i don't waste my nights programming (again).
Thanks,
RPG
i haven't been able to find a solution and I looked high to low. I think the wheel should be more like a page down than arrow down.
I have never understood why you can't get it to go vertically. It does it on the program and settings but not on the today screen.
I think you are onto something here.
I saw one of the button mapping programs that allowed you to assign screen actions to buttons, but I am not sure how well it would work. If it did, I would imagine it could be pretty quirky and not the most efficient way to do in things, since you be basically reinterpreting another event. Sounds like it might be useful, but I would suggest maybe providing the ability to to toggle between the normal behavior and the true scrolling by double clicking the jog wheel button.

Selecting while scrolling problem

Is there anyone else that unwillingly selects itemswhile scrolling?
Often when i scroll down my latest calls i accidently calls someone as my finger scrolls the screen.
Is there any registry setting or anything that can be adjusted how long You have to press to do a selection. The problem is in Manila as well.
Example:
I select all programs under programs tab and scrolls down. Bam! Suddenly I have selected some other program while lifting and setting down my finger again to continue to scroll downwards.
HELP !!!!!
It's driving me nuts. (actually this is the only thing that bothers me with this phone) I used tohave an Iphone before.....

this will alleviate some of the issues.
you can adjust the touch screen sensitivity but it may work against you in other applications.
the 'touch' itself is almost like a technique, press and hold down, then push upwards till almost top edge of screen and stop, repeat steps again if required. This method works well for me be it using TD, Touch series.

Multi-touch screen?

While tinkering with google map's I noticed that the screen seems to respons to 2 seperate points? give it a try for yourself. I used my finger to move side to side and the pointer to move up and down, this worked together and independantly on my phone. If this is the case can we see software to support this function such as image resize and so on?????
P.S. a couple of other things to try.....
Hold volume up button and press the action button (this brings up the screen calibation)
I think this has been mentioned before but there is a easteregg in the weather screen
If you tap on the dark bar that says weather near the side Left then Right it run's a demo of the various animations.
I don't think it's multi touch, it just finds the mean of the two points you press. It's the same if you use two fingers in some touch pads at laptops. Try this and you may understand what I'm talking about. Start google maps and touch the left part of the screen. While keeping your finger down, touch the right part and see when happens. With both fingers down, release the left finger and see what happens. This is due to the way the touch screen works, but it's definitely not multitouch.
Good tips for the screen calibration and the animations demo (although it doesn't show all animations - I didn't see the fog animation )

[Q] Screen Calibration

Hi Guys,
Just a quick one, has anyone found a way to calibrate the screen as I find that when trying to select text and stuff the cursor is way off my finger and it's a tad difficult.
Is there anyway to run a calibration like you used to have to do for WM Devices that used a stylus???
Thanks.
Jamie
I have the same problem but i am putting it down to the first time i have used a touch screen like this (had Touch HD last)
I actually think it's designed that way, ie so you can see where you are placing the cursor rather than having to guess where your finger is over which piece of text you are trying to alter, if you watch when you place your finger the cursor appears above your finger which makes it a lot easier to position in a bunch of text.
IMO it's a neat solution to not having a track ball for easy positioning for editing text.
To confirm - it is designed that way
That's fine and now you mention it, it does make sense, thought it was just me that's all lol Actually quite like it now I'm getting used to it. Used to be tricky to do this on iPhone as my finger covered up the word lol
I have to say I loled a bit when I read this, you can even see the cursor pop up from under your finger

[Q] Web Browser Bug (Not Lag)

Hi,
I bought a Galaxy S 2 weeks ago,and noticed that in Web Browser,if i touch the screen and do a slide move from right to left or from left to right,i can't do a slide move from up to down of down to up(i dont pull my fingers off from the screen while doing the moves)
for example i opened a page from web browser and zoomed in..if i scroll the page from left to right,i cannot move the page upwards or downwards after that horizontal slide...(if i scroll from up to down-or down to up,i cannot move the page from left-to rigt or right to left too)(and my finger is still on the screen)
this bug happens in only straight way slide-scroll moves.the only way i can do a 360 degree move on a zoomed page is if i start the slide move in cross directions-not straight directions).then i can move the page where ever i want.
I tried this bug on stock 2,1 - 2,2 - 2.2.1 ROMs,on Darkys v5,5 - 5,6 Roms,on stock kernel,on voodoo kernel,on Stock Web browser and on Dolphin HD, i did cache - Data wipe factory reset sd format lots of times and the result is always the same.
Finally i went to shop to try a new Galaxy S to see if this bug happens to other phones, and Yes it happened to that new Galaxy S too.
A 50 € phone doesnt have this bug but a 500 € has it :/
Can anyone help me to solve this problem or know what cause this bug(or is it really a stock bug)?
anyone for help?
I don't know whether that is a bug or not. I know the behaviour you're describing and I see it as a feature. It allows for smoother vertical scrolling when reading long articles.
I wouldn't want this changed.
so does it lock itself to that direction we scroll-for a smoother scrooling, and not allow us to change to any other direction while our finger is still on the screen? :/
i scroll up the page, then if i want to slide the page through left a bit,i must pull off my finger from the screen first, and touch the screen again to slide left...
they could give smoothness with another way,if they do this on purpose for smooth scrolling :/
I'm more likely to scroll vertically reading a long web page than I am to be scrolling vertically and horizontally simultaneously.
Is it taking you much time or effort to lift your finger and press it back down?
npe,its just annoying for me,cant do a 360 degree move without pulling off my finger,if i do a vertical or horizontal slide before :/
thanks for answer
