[Q] Multi touch, kernel or room? - HTC Incredible S

I've noticed that I'm only able to use two touch points using nicks project X 4.1 rom and the redux kernel (0.5). I'm pretty sure the inc s has the capability for 5 touch points so is this a problem specific to my device,or is it a kernel or rom issue?

It's because of the 3 fingers gestures function. You can disable it on the settings under "display and gestures"

Yes, thank you. With that setting inactivated I can use three fingers, but there is still something wrong. Using four fingers will work for a fraction of a second then the screen becomes non-responsive for a while. I see the same non-responsive behavior with the lock screen sometimes.

trackball sensitivity

once upon a time i was a blackberry owner and in the settings I could change the sensitivity to help when selecting text or scrolling. is this possible with a nexus one or with a mod.
The nexus has a touch screen so those uses really aren't necessary.plus you can feel the trackball skip when moving to the next spot and it would be out of sync if it could be changed.

How to wake up vivid screen without power button

Hello guys,
Personally i don't like to use power button too frequently, but in reality for Vivid, the only way to wake up screen is power button.
So is there any way we can change its behavior?
I would like the "home key" in the left bottom of Vivid to wake up screen also.
It's possible?
Thanks.
Not sure anything like this exists at the moment. On my previous phone the HTC Aria running CM7 I could wake the phone with the track ball which was pretty cool but I too would like to be able to wake the phone using other buttons.
Your answer sir...

My power button no longer works on my phone. For a while I was using Smart Screen Off Pro, which is pretty cool, but it doesn't lock the phone most of the time. Instead, flash KozmitKKernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572015
It has sweep to wake which rocks, you swipe (sweep) from left to right across the capacitative buttons to wake the device, and in reverse to turn the screen off. That plus a touch recovery (and adb reboot) and I never have to touch my broken power button!
I also am running Kozmikkernel along with Dark Raider ROM and it works great!! Had a little trouble at first with WiFi but only took a few minutes of tweaking and it was up and running. I don't use the power button anymore at all...the sweep from home to search easily wakes up the phone and swiping search to home puts it back to sleep...very nice.

Use holics
if you have your phone rooted then you can use a custom rom, i use holics and it has a feature that lets you swipe from the home button to the search button and it turns on the screen i really like the feature and the rom is awesome, and runs very smooth

If you dont like to use Power Button anymore, I would suggest to go with DarkRaider ROM in which you have option to install Swype to Wakeup your VIVID.
Just Simply Swype your finger from Home Button to ---> Search Button and Your VIVID is UP!!!!!
Look for ma thread on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1676977 to turn S off and get the ful fledge of your custom ROMS!!!!!

It's not dark raider that gives you sweep2wake...
It's either kozmikkernel or faux123's kernel

True. But personally I like the combo of Dark Raider and KozmikKick.
Also, as DR contains LeeDroid's Tweaks, you can enable the option "Menu to unlock", so that way you only have to swipe Home->Menu->Back->Search and you'll be awake, and then just press the menu key and you'll be on your homescreen in notime!

I was not talking about the kernel, the Dark Raider 1.5.4 ROm has four different kernels in it and you have option to select and install the same!!! Check it out!! I think You mistook my point!!!

[Q] Is the HTC One logo on the bottom actually capacitive?

Hey there
I was reading about how uncomfortable having only two capacitive buttons is and how it creates a lot of confusions, but then I read an interesting post which said that developers discovered that the HTC logo on the bottom is actually a capacitive button and that there are kernels which enable it to work as Menu key? Is that true?
Thanks
Yes, but you need a custom kernel to do this, the bulletproof kernel found in the dev sections seems to do it.
I believe I read that it isn't completely responsive. Just the upper portion.

Underneath the HTC logo is actually nothing, but a few rows of pixels from the screen above do overlap into that position, and that's how the kernels force those few rows to act like it's an extra button.
That's awesome. Would someone be able to link me to that kernel? I am sure I can Google and come up with a tutorial on how to install it. I installed a few kernels on my old HTC One X using a certain tool before which I am going to have to look for.
Lots of kernels have this capability actually. I've personally only tried ElementalX, and it has that function.

Can black bar at the bottom of a screen be TOUCH SENSITIVE?

Does anyone knows if the small black bar at the bottom of a screen is TOUCH SENSITIVE?
Maybe we could use it for soft key navigation, but first we'll need to know if that part has got proper touch panel underneath. If it has, we can modify drivers and try to use it.
Maybe someone disassembled RAZR M/I and has got some pictures. It would be great to make that bar touch sensitive.

I think it's just a part of the screen bezel.
Like on many other devices (ie. Nexus 7)

Yes it is, use Lmt launcher or search in Omar Rom's thread for the line in build.prop that disables the softkeys making that black bar disappear. He told it to someone there.

He meant the black glass panel beneath the softkeys, I think it may be a remnant of a capacitive key idea that didn't materialise because they went with on screen software keys. Back to the OP I doubt they would then implement a touch panel (an unnecessary cost) under the black section, although the thoughts have having an extra touch sensitive panel would be nice.

P20 Pro Virtual Navigation - Counter Intuitive...

Does anyone else find the Huawei P20 Pro's "virtual navigation" to be counter intuitive? The off-screen navigation controls make no logical sense.
Tapping the fingerprint sensor = back button
Holding the fingerprint sensor = home screen
Swiping from right to left across the fingerprint sensor = view open apps
Who designed this? Why is there no ability to customize it to a more logical function?
If it were my choice, this would be how it operates:
Tapping the fingerprint sensor = HOME
Holding the fingerprint sensor = RECENT APPS
Swiping from right to left across the fingerprint sensor = BACK
I feel like this makes much more sense for efficient usage? Does anyone else feel the same?
When I first used it I couldn't get the hang of it. Tried again and gave it a couple of days and once it clicks it's great.

Nice topic, can you use any fingerprint remappers kind of apps, and tell if that fixed the issue or not ?
I tried All In One Gesture but it looks clunky.
I will love to have Gesture across the screen rather than limited to the Button or the Navigation Dock....
I think the default gestures are very nice build. The ones I use more often is the ones that are easiest, and quickest to perform; "back" and "home". And the one I use most seldom is the hardest to do, and thats "recent apps". But I guess we all use our phone in a different manner, so customisation should be allowed.
I don't mind this arrangement but I do miss the ability to quickly double tap recents to open the last app you were using. I used that that a lot..

Exactly same issue for me
I use "Back Button" that creates some floating buttons for me on the right side. There you can double click to change to the reason app. Used them on my s8+ when hiding the on screen buttons.
Screenshot added.

I tried a couple but they all had a very long delay to respond after trying the gestures.

Yup. Other than that I find the gestures just fine to use. Don't know why the op has the default assumption that their idea for a setup is more logical. Both are just arbitrary choices at the end of the day, and either setup would take some time to commit to muscle memory.
