I just put the Eclipse 3.0 and noticed everything works but the Hotspot. My computer connects to the phone internet but says it has limited connection. Anyone know why this would not be working?
Prior to this Rom I was using Spearmint Gummy. I was having issue with 3G/4G connections constantly. So i decided to go with new Rom Eclipse. If anyone recommends another ROM with working camera / video / 3G/4G and Hotspot let me know.
Thanks for your help to fixing my hotspot issue.

stuck on the same boat my brother....
I just download newest Safestrap 2.11 , put ICS .232 on it, and but CM10 JB and still have the same issue with hotspot....
hopefully someone here know the answer!
I have it working on my wife's bionic eclipse 3.0 hotspot to her nexus 7
Have to buy a app and do it on your end. Let me try and find the instructions for you.
The only way to do it on the bionic is to use sqllite. You have to open up the settings db and change the entitlement. I have changed this value in the motorolasettings.apk before and it doesnt seem to have any effect. Here is a little clip of an article on how to do it:
The first step is to make sure that you have root on your phone along with SQlite Editor app installed.
Once done, tap to launch the SQlite App editor and select Settings Storage.
Once in Settings Storage, tap to select settings.db.
Now select Settings and after that tap on menu button followed by selecting Set_Filter option.
Now in the Set_Filter field, type “check” and press OK.
In the resulting menu, set the value of “entitlement_check” to zero.
After this reboot your phone.
I also seen a you tube video on this as well that helped. I take no credit for the instructions above but I can confirm it works.
Search YouTube bionic hotspot and there are videos to walk you through it.
Travis the issue I am having is that under settings.db i dont have a settings options. I have the following options android_metadata , bluetooth_devices, bookmarks, secure, sqlite_sequence, system.
Can you please help me out and tell me how to get to settings..
I have found the video to help me walk thru it but I am stuck... maybe its CM10 thing????

P.S. Foxfi doesn't work either...
You are on eclipse 3.0 based off of stock .905 right and not cm10 or the ICS leaks .232? I used those steps and yes the steps in the link you have and with rooted stock .905 and flash eclipse 3.0 follow those steps and my wife's hot spot works great t tether to her nexus 7.

I was on .905 with Eclipse 3.0 w/ safestrap 1.07 but I upgraded my phone last night
I currently run ICS .232 with CM10 JB unofficial (10/4) with safestrap 2.11.....
I just need to get Hotspot with whatever ROM I use. I have CM roms on older phones and think they are stable and very easy to work with. Assuming that I thought the CM10 JB would have hotspot working because currently hashcode hasn't reported any problems with that....
I don't know to be quite honest whats wrong. I am no pro android rooter or anything so I deff appreciate your feedback!
OK well if you went to .232 then you are no longer on eclipse. If yo want hotspot you will need to go back to .905 then flash eclipse 3.0 and follow the steps given it will work. But you will need to rsd back to .905 first.
Also this was posted in the wrong section should not be in development should be q&a in some other devices they would shoot you for this

I am sorry for wrong section post.
Thanks for your help. I got it...i'll just wait for CM10 JB official release i guess....
I don't mind about the wrong section just giving you a heads up for future use specially in certain device threads lol
And I am not sure about the cm10 but ICS has not been officially released yet and jb is only ported. If you really need hotspot then I would say just rsd back to .905 and then flash 3.0 eclipse it will work if you really need it. Good luck.

Using SQLite to directly edit the database file often results in failed to save edit. There are two Settings Storage database file, in blur roms. They are in different folder when browsed with root explorer. This edit seems only possible when using ics blur roms, leaked or custom. Using root explorer, browse to the file in folder /data/data/com.motorola.android.provider.setting/databases and there's the settings.db file. Copy that file and paste in the same folder, edit the "entitlement_check" in the copy file, it should give no error while saving edits now. Then delete the original settings.db file and rename the copy file as settings.db, reboot, and hotspot should be active. However, this "entitlement_check" edit is only possible an blur roms, because on non-blur roms like cm9 or aokp there is only one Settings Storage database file, the one within folder data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases but no folder /data/data/com.motorola.android.provider.setting
Is this typical error with CM/AOKP build..or did I missed anything?
Edit
Foxfi failed too

Have u guys tried Speedlite 2.0 jb? The built in hotspot is banging like a champ. I've had 0 issues connecting my nexus 7 to my bionic using this rom. In fact it connects faster than foxfi and the speed is damn good.
Hope this helps!

I am using WiFi Tether (for root user) with Eclipse. You have to change the device profile to "Generic ICS/JB (wlan1)". It takes about 30 sec for my laptop to see the connection (though that could be the laptops fault) and then it works like a charm. I am writing this using the connection now!
Changing the check value with sqlite the same way on GB and I have native tether working fine on eclipse 1.2.1

I just got my Bionic and got the OTA upgrade to .902.
While restoring some apk's from my original droid, I inadvertently restored ADW Launcher which seems to have replaced my stock launcher. (I know, I should have had a backup - duh!)
How do I get back the standard stock ROM? I can get Eclipse and Liberty running, but I just want the stock (at least for now). I want to be able to take future OTA updates as well.
I looked for a .902 fxz file to flash with RSDLite - but can't find one. If I try any other fxz file, I get a CDT.BIN error on 1/15.
PLEASE HELP! ANYONE?

I am a bit new - can you tell me what these do?
Unr3l3as3droot
for3v3r root
path saver?
I think I have for3v3r root and path saver - but not sure what's next.
Unreleasedroot and forever root will take you back to stock 886 and make you rooted forever. Path saver you will use to move your phone back to 901 and still be able to receive ota. Essentially you will be taking your phone back to the way you got it then updating it back up to date while keeping root and being able to get future ota. Doing all this will give you stock 901. After that you will need to download the ota and instead of.installing it, move it.from /cache to your external SD card. Then you will turn off the bionic. To turn it back on, hold both volume up and down as you hit power. This will take you to a different menu than bootstrap or safe strap. In this menu setup is where you will flash the ota. Just remember that volume up in this.menu setup is like hitting enter so you can only scroll down. If you come across a triangle warning after flashing, just hit volume up and down again and it will flash.
Give yourself an hour to do all of this, maybe longer. I would include the links but I'm on my phone. I have a post that links to the directions and downloads for path saver (it was kind of hard.to find, they put it in general Android development instead of bionic development) . Just click on my profile and look at the threads I started or scroll down through general bionic until you find path saver. Umr3l3as3droot and For3ver root are pretty easy to find.
Don't worry about being new as we were all new once. Things will start making more sense once you get more used to it. The more you read through everything, the better off you will be.

I'm having trouble with my bionic trying to get It back to stock .902.I have tried downloading about 10/11 different fxz files and I also tried RSD Lite 5.7,5.6,and even 5.5 and I keep getting the same error everytime and its telling me there is XML format error and some of the files are missing. Now I know out of all those FXZ files I downloaded couldn't be corrupt. Can someone help me with this please.Thanks.
This is a leak for the 6.7.2233 update (Android 4.0.4) for the Bionic.
You must be on stock .905 to use this.
You must flash from STOCK RECOVERY.
Use of Safestrap is NOT recommended.
You may need to FXZ to .902, take the OTA update to .905 and then flash from STOCK RECOVERY.

installed ICS
Installed 6.7.2233 and it was pretty flawless. I flashed back to .902 and did an OTA update to .905. I haven't rooted yet but I hear there is a way to do it.
Couple of things I noticed
On stock launcher, when plugging in webtop it doesn't work. I got ADW and it works fine now.
Bluetooth seems to work better, wifi is WAY faster (I know this by doing speed tests a lot before and after). I can't speak for 4G yet but will report back when I know for sure how it's doing.
CPU is now running at 1200MHz vice 1000 and it doesn't seem that it auto adjusts to lower speeds like previous versions did so we will see how battery life does. Battery life seems fine so far though.
Any pics or video? Please post!
can someone please tell me how to update to this ? i have already unrooted with voodoo and when i go into recovery to install update it tells me it cant verify signature. i am on 905

In those pas 2 weeks, whenever I hit a 4g zone, no data at all. Today I drove through different zones and was switching between the 2 without issue! Hopefully this update will help solve problems some of us have been having with a data connection.

It's surprisingly easy, but I can understand the daunting task if you've never done any playing with the guts
Download the link at the front page to your computer.
Connect your phone to your computer and click on the "Mass Storage" Setting when the USB options come up.
Copy the downloaded .zip file to your external SD card. Don't worry about unzipping it or anything.
Once it's down, turn your phone off, then turn the phone back on while holding both the up and down arrows. This will boot your phone into what's called "Stock Recovery". To navigate Stock, you click down to move through the options, then up to select a choice.
Click down once (iirc) until your highlight Recovery, then click up to select
This will place you in Recovery mode, if there is nothing on your phone but an icon of android and an exclamation point, hold both of the volume buttons again.
From here, you will use the volume buttons to navigate, and the power button to select items.
Go to, Install update from external storage.
Highlight the .zip file you put there earlier
Wait 5-10 minutes.
Enjoy your ice creamy goodness 2-3 weeks before everyone else. Once you start it up it will "optimize the apps" for a bit, this is natural ICS behavior.
Now that you've flashed your own rom in custom mode, you can start looking at rooting and flashing custom roms. Personally I'd hold out until the developers have time to parse out ICS and update their roms. I believe even the current unofficial "ICS" roms are based on Gingerbread kernels that has been heavily modified.
Here you go folks. I put it up on my server which is much faster.
http://playeraffinity.com/files/Blur_Version.5.9.905.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip
I was going to put it on a download page and all that jazz, but I know you all want to get right to downloading it so all i ask is if you have any free time, check out the site my server is for, Player Affinity. There's a lot of interesting articles on there and you might find something worth sharing.
Once ICS is official on the bionic, I'll get cracking at an Affinity ROM for it.

Ice Cream Sandwich has been ported to the Optimus 3D by developer xbsall, and seeing as the Thrill 4G is essentially the same phone as the O3D, the rom is capable of being used on our phones.
Bugs:
Camera is upside down (Fix is being worked on, works for the most part here: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957839)
Search button acts as the Back button (Fix for buttons, takes quite a bit of steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2019208)
Back button acts as Home button
SMS Messages are capped at 80 characters (Remedied by using another Messaging app, such as Handcent SMS or GO SMS)

LG P920 .dll file - http://www.mediafire.com/?pry23hi79tbdp40
Procedure:
1) Follow the LGFlashTool & Drivers Guide to step 10 then come back here.
2) Download the links provided.
3) Extract the contents of "XBSA404.rar" to a folder or something. We will NOT be using the .fls file, only the .bin file.
4) Open LGFlashTool
4a) If the window dosent automatically pop up already, in "DLL" put the LG P920 .dll file.
4b) In "S/W", put in XBSA404_AP.bin (We're doing the .bin first so we flash the baseband seperate to be safer)
4c) Under "Connection Mode", select it to USB.
4) Hit OK
5) Click the Port Settings button (COM Port Picture, next to Settings)
5a) Check Port 1 on this page
Make it look like this:
[x] 16 Ports
[x] Port 1 ~ Port 16
[x] 1
6) Hit OK
7) Hit the Start button (Yellow Arrow). Port 1 should say "READY!!" in a yellow box.
8) Boot your phone into Download mode (Battery out, VolUp -> Plug USB Cord in)
9) The flashing process will automatically start, when it finishes unplug your phone and restart it.
10) The phone will boot up in Korean (Direct port from LG-SU760), click the button under the android and select English.
11) Take the battery out of your phone, and redo steps 4-9 EXCEPT for step 4b, Remove the XBSA404_AP.bin and replace it with the LG v18a Baseband .fls file.
The files name is LGP920AT-00-V18a-AMA-XXX-OCT-28-2011+0_CP.fls
12) Enjoy

Hopefully this helped people that wanted to get use of this, because its really looking good in my opinion and is shaping up well.
Major Thanks to: xbsall, lazylu for the baseband, and others that I need to add later, haha.
EDIT: 11/28: Added Kernel for Button fix.
Going to try this once I have my new phone and see what I can do with it. Once rooted, would I still be able to use Cyanogen's MMS.apk for the messaging app?
I would think so, the APK is LatinIME.apk. Make sure to activate "Unknown Sources" in Settings -> Security.

For some people its different, what baseband they'll be using. V21E gives me loads upon loads of Ghost Calls, and stops receiving data randomly, making me unable to update Instagram/Twitter until I restart my phone. That's me personally though, try any baseband that works for you. v18a is confirmed working for most P925s though.

I ended up getting it sorted out with some guides around the forums. I had to fast boot into download mode and flashed the v18a baseband. It failed at 30% saying invalid AP path, but after booting the phone I noticed it indeed did flash.
My original problem was the damned OMAP driver issue. Luckily someone had dealt with it enough to create a guide for fixing that.
Loving ICS. Screw you LG. We'll do it ourselves!
EDIT: I installed the cyanogen mms.apk and its working, but not 100% ( settings FC and contacts don't seem to integrate, but can be searched for). I haven't tested MMS messages or the text limit yet. I would like to work on replacing dialer, contacts, and MMS .apks with something better.
EDITv2: I also noticed that the capacitive buttons aren't actually "switched", but the entire are is divided into 1/3s settings/home/back. I may be wrong and the switch is just messing with me.

Please let us know if mms works.

So far its stuck on sending. That could be tied with the settings not working and contacts. Hopefully ill have some time at work to mess with a few things. We have a couple other android nerds who may have some ideas.
It feels like a new phone again.

Is it supposed to throw an Invalid AP error? After a boot up, it still says the baseband is XMM6260. Not sure what to do...
I really don't know. That was after I had flashed the .bin successfully and was flashing the baseband. I tried it three times and it would give me invalid AP each time. I finally just rebooted to see what I could do and noticed it worked.
No MMS though. I can live with that.

Handcent SMS will allow you to send mms but not receive..
Also defcom has a camera working.. thread in o3d development.

Haven't tried mms yet, but I'm having lots of trouble trying to get the thing rooted. Neither of these two methods work for me.

Hey guys, not sure if already posted..
But looks like the official android 4.2 is out now for Nexus 7
From Android Headlines:
That’s right, today is becoming a very busy day indeed for those that are Nexus fans and owners. With the news that the Galaxy Nexus is getting its fresh helping of Android 4.2 we were all wondering when the Nexus 7 would be allowed to join the party after all, the N7 did get to the Jelly Bean party first now, didn’t they? There’s no telling just how long you’ll be waiting for the update but the word is that the JOP40C, the same build for the Galaxy Nexus, is now making its way to Nexus 7s all over the place.
As always, there is an alternative to updating your device if you have absolutely no patience and quite frankly, we don’t blame you one bit. If you want to know how to get 4.2 on your Nexus 7 then read on and download this zip file before you get started!
First of all download the zip file above, do NOT rename this file.
Reboot your Galaxy Nexus while holding the Volume Down button – this will take you to the fastboot menu
From there, hit start and then hit the Volume Up key to get to Recovery and hit the Power Button
If you’re stock – with no CWM – then you should see a red exclamation point, after this hit the Power Button and the Volume Up button
From here, select “apply update from adb”
Then go ahead and open up a command prompt – terminal in Linux and Mac OS X – navigate to the same directory as the downloaded zip and input this command: adb sideload 094f6629314a.signed-nakasi-JOP40C-from-JZO54K.094f6629.zip
Reboot and then you should be in Jelly Bean 4.2!
Of course, if you’re like a whole lot of other Nexus 7 owners out there and have gone a little rogue and installed a custom recovery and so on you can just simply copy it to your device and install it like you would any other zip!
Have fun and let us know how it goes in the comments!
Seriously? did you happen to check the thread below yours?

Also I see some copy & paste work in OP lol

Thank!
Worked for me, OTA Rootkeeper, flashed in CWM, adb in and removed recover-from-boot.p, OTA Rootkeeper restore.
It seems to be moving a little slow, I think it's updating media stuff or such, so if it takes a few minutes to settle in don't freak out. It took about 5 minutes for me and it's been fine since.
Probably have to reflash recovery, not sure. Either way, easy.
Few more notes.. Apps which had FORCED themselves "to sd" are probably uninstalled now, you'll need to reinstall 'em with TiBu or Market. I had 3 like this, all three were "gone". Just the app, the data is fine if you use TiBu.
Nova's dock isnt' working for me, it's a dead zone. Not sure what's going on there. Might be a bug in Nova now, never seen this before. EDIT: Check for a Beta update; fixed already
Someone on IRC said they saw files move around on their storage, but so far I haven't see any app issues, but any SD backups might back up everything again if it's moved. TiBu, etc, are all happy, so..
DO NOT ADD A USER. It has made my Nexus 7 slow as hell. If I find a way to fix it I'll post.

I installed the leaked copy of the 4.2 keyboard a while back. Today, the 4.2 update I'm trying to manually install in recovery is failing. I assume the two are linked. Is there a way to nuke the 4.2 keyboard instance off the tablet so I can properly install the 4.2 update? Or is this grounds for backing up my data and flashing a full 4.1.2 and then upgrading to 4.2?

You can install the old 4.1.2 keyboard and reupdate again. OR you can reinstall the entire OS to 4.1.2, then upgrade to 4.2 again

I found that deleting the User and rebooting fixed me, did it for you?
And I don't know if it's related or not, but Nova keeps screwing up my widgets. They're gone, disconnected, or duplicated.. I had 5 of the same widget in places where other widgets had been.....

CWM zip install keeps failing for me, just saying aborted. I've removed some of the system apps I didn't need, but edited the updater.sh script to also remove checking for system apps. Any way I can find where the failure is?
I was on stock 4.1.2 and just flashed via CWM and it worked flawlessly.
Also, I don't seem to have any speed issues with 2 users. The switch screen takes a few seconds but it works like a charm, now my wife can have her area and i can have mine (yay)

Yes, but then it did with 4.1.2 already.

according to that, you can revert to stock. im assuming 4.2.2? i want to go back to use the app that gives you recovery. (which is not yet available for kitkat) to use cm11
so question is, can i use that method to go back to 4.2.2? or would it take me to 4.4.4? my phone is not bricked. just stock 4.4.2
helppp. thankssss.
As long as you download the correct TOT file, that is the correct procedure that I have used on my at&t d950.

Remember to do a full wipe, because the applications from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2 they will not be worked and the phone will have a bootloop
Will this work if I'm on stock 4.4.2 and want to downgrade to 4.2.2?
Forgot to add I'm not rooted sorry

Damn I wanted to try the MIUI Rom but don't want the hassle. I'm guess this is the only way?
I don't think he has a d959 version of the miui yet. They are so close to getting cm11 ready for a beta. Radio is now working just gotta get the kernel to run stable. But as fast as they are coming along I wouldn't be surprised if its ready by the weekend.

Gerett needs the 4.2 files and MIUI should work for the d959. I'm following the two Rom threads by the min. lol

That's my fault. He asked for them a couple weeks ago and I got sidetracked with my son and work has been hell. But thanks for reminding me. I just sent him what he needed.
Tested the first d959 miui. No go as of right now. Boots but no screen. Just black screen. Still a little more work but I'm sure soon.
haven't had MIUI on any phone since I had my Note 2, and kinda miss it!
Gerret had a sweet miui rom on that phone, so I know how great it would be if it works out the Flex..
I was having the same issue and i read a post in another forum here on xda (can't remember which one or i would link you to it) that used QPST force the phone into download mode. I also was unable to get it into download mode using adb. At any rate, it was fairly simple to do and i have done it multiple times since then. Just Google a working download of QPST, install it, and then follow the instructions below.
1) make sure that you're port settings I the hidden menu on your phone are set too diag mode. Data can be enabled for them as well, but diag is a must.
2) set the dmapp usage setting to ON in the hidden menu as well. The hidden menu is accessed by dialing 3845#*XXX# in the dialer where XXX is replaced by the three digits of your model number e.g. for a T-Mobile G Flex (D959) it would be 3845#*959#.
3) connect the phone to the computer you installed QPST on and wait for the proper drives to install.
4) open QPST configuration and click "add new port". Select the lg diagnostics port and then click the start services menu tab.
5) start the Software Download service and then make sure that you're phone was properly recognized by the service.
6) click the multi-image tab and set your window to look as the photo below.
7) once the window looks like the photo, click the start button and then hit the abort button as soon as possible so as to not actually do anything other than just reset the phone.
8) if all goes as it's supposed to, your phone should have been reset into download mode. I hope this helped.
