(Sorry if I'm in the wrong section, there was no question thread)
My friend bought my galaxy tab and he did a factory reset on a rooted device, and it won't let him press "Start" on the set-up
There are no backups or anything, and I can't find a way to connect it to the computer to put a new rom on it. There's no sd card slot, so I can't load one on there, and mounting won't work even after I reinstalled kies and the drivers.
Like I said, no backups, won't even load rom, won't start set up, won't connect from the start screen, and unfortunetly won't mount through recovery.
Any ideas?
Btw it is CWM Recovery and the rom was Honey-something or another. It was honeycomb though for sure.
Have you tried putting it into download mode? and then use Odin to flash a ROM.

Yea good idea, I tried it but download didn't work. I was able to get into settings and set up wifi direct, so hopefully it'll let me send 400mb of a new rom over wifi direct. :/
No need to wifi direct the file, just put the gtab to download mode then open Odin in the computer, select the ROM desired using Odin, connect gtab in computer then click Start in Odin. Then Odin will install the ROM into your Gtab.

If you can get into the system enough to setup WiFi then you can also use adb to transfer files over a USB cable.

Something really gone wrong for me here and have a feeling I have a brick.
1. Flashed ROCKET ROM-V19-XXLA4 from external sd using CWM.
2. Flash was confirmed rebooted.
3. Got Bootloop (Rocket Logo)
4. Could boot into download mode but PC not seeing device.
5. Removed battery for over 1 min.
6. Still no difference, the device just cant be seen. Even after reinstalling the drivers. via Kies trouble shooting.
Anyone have any ideas??

I had the same problem today, but it worked when i did this:
- Volume down + Home + Power
- Do not press continue yet
- Open Odin
- Connect it to the computer
- Choose Continue on the Note
Now the computer should install two new drivers (modem and another one), and then the phone will pop up on the computer.
Odin is seeing :- 0:[COM4]
Thanks so much really thought I'd bricked it. Forgot all about Odin A Beer and a thanks to you both.
Just a note, not sure what went wrong but I had to flash a full stock ROM including the Modem, Code and Multi to get it working again.

Hello,my Samsung galaxy s is restarting constantly it started today after my phone frozen and I took out the battery after it booted it just showed Samsung logo and then goes to devil kernel logo after that just stays there and wont boot up and then restarts.I tried getting into recovery mode but it doesn't want to,only download mode works but phone doesn't get recognized by PC so cant do anything.
EDIT
When I charge the phone battery icon isn't showing like its charging it just shows empty battery and spinning indicator is frozen.
Seems like you have overclocked your phone too much or undervolted too much. What you need to do is go to cwm recovery and install a different kernel and see if it works.

Not yet going to try that later today.
To flash a kernel put your galaxy into download mode, connect via cable to pc, start odin, select in PDA a *.tar file and flash!
here you can download semaphore kernel for ICS Roms:
http://www.semaphore.gr/downloads/gt-i9000-ics
good luck!
Odin fixed the restarting problem, but now when i get in recovery mode its giving unknown volume and cant mount sd card error so is there anyway to install rom via odin?

LOL man just go find a firmware on sammobile.com (find JVK one) download it, put the phone into download mode, connect to odin. Put the biggest file thats in the firmware zip as PDA, CSC in csc ect. Tick "repatriation" "f reset time" and flash it. Then root it via CF-Root. (Find it on XDA - i hope you're able to do that) then itll all be good

Hi all, I recently installed a custom rom on my tablet and all went well, worked perfect but would not connect via usb to my laptop, and also showed that I had used 11gb of memory even though I hadn't got many apps installed. So I reverted back to my stock nandroid back up I made at the start. I decided tonight to try again and though this time I would clear all data/cache/partitions etc usung clockworkmod. I formatted every option that was available through cwm. I then thought I'd connect my tab to my laptop, drop the rom onto the tab and install. Only thing is, it won't show up under 'my computer'. I then tried to revert to the backup again but it says MD5 mismatch!!. If I select reboot system now, it just hangs at the galaxy screen.
Does anyone know what I have to do to bring my Tab back to life?.
Please, please help I'm really stuck....
Thanks in advance
Scotty
Install any (stock) rom using Odin.
(what is your exact device? Only flash a ROM specifically designed for your device)
EDIT: alternatively, you should be able to connect the tab by usb cable to pc, in recovery, and transfer any flashable rom .zip that way... (etc)
Are you sure you are using a safe CWM version?

I am using cwm v5.5.0.4 How do I use odin?. Is there a comprehensive guide?. Where do I get stock rom from?. I have a P7310 wifi UK tab. I have never tried to rom my tab before, am used to doing my htc phones where I drop the rom onto my memory card and then put the memory card back in the phone to flash but as the tab doesn't take sd's am a bit stuck. I cannot connect it to my laptop or pc as it doesn't show up as connected.
Read the "one stop guide" sticky, or Google Odin...

I have read and downloaded all the files it says I need. I have installed the drivers again even though it said they were already installed. When I click to open odin, I get the window that says something in foreign. I click ok and the odin window flashes up for a split second and then goes off again......what am I doing wrong??.
Right...... Managed to get odin to work and flashed it with stock. Tablet is back to life and all is good..... apart from most of my memory is used up!. The tablet has no apps or anything other than stock installed on it but it says I have over a gig of apps that aren't showing in the apps list and also all my old pictures etc are there..
How do I format everything to get all my memory back that it originally came with?.
Hi, I tried flashing a kernel to my phone, but I forgot to make a nandroid. (Doh!) Now my phone just gets stuck at a screen that says "Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G" I don't know how to fix. I tried Odin but it gets stuck at setup connection. (Even with drivers and in download mode and all.) Please help me!
Have you tried other USB ports or another computer? Also, try and get into recovery and just flash a new ROM. Always the easiest. Especially since you can mount USB storage in recovery and move zip files to the SD card that way. Hope that helps.

Easiest way to do it is, download rom and gapps on your computer. Shut down your phone, take off the battery and connect the USB cable from your computer to the phone. Then while pressing on volume up key, insert back the battery. In recovery, Mount USB and copy rom and gapps then unmount and flash. If for some reason you can't Mount USB, just take out the external one and using an adapter connect it to your computer and copy the files

Hey all
I have my friends old sgs-i9305t which has a broken home button which I would like to root and possibly install a custom rom onto. This can be useful for my secondary sim when I travel.
Problem is, I cannot seem to connect to pc at all. So right now it can't reboot to download or recovery, and the adb methods for rooting aren't working as I can not currently connect even as a usb drive (yes this phone has likely gone through hell before I got my hands on it).
Maybe I should add, I am on Windows 10. But that didn't interfere with other devices I connected to this pc.
Anyone got any tips or solutions?
Sent from my GT-I9305T using Tapatalk
Well, I worked out how to do all the flashing without any need for a pc. A little tougher on a galaxy device with a broken home button the USB connection chip only knowing how to charge (no adb or even USB disk connection).

There is no need to root the phone if you want to flash a custom rom anyway. There are apps on the play store like quick reboot, rapid reboot with those you can boot into download mode and flash whatever you want via odin/heimdall

Yes this is true, however, those apps need root access which I didn't have. And then, I also reconditioned this sgs3lte where Odin and Heimdall could not work (no home button to boot into download mode + USB port is only capable of charging, no data transfer).
Eventually I managed to flash twrp and then Cyanogenmod 12. So it's all OK now.
