Hi all, I recently installed a custom rom on my tablet and all went well, worked perfect but would not connect via usb to my laptop, and also showed that I had used 11gb of memory even though I hadn't got many apps installed. So I reverted back to my stock nandroid back up I made at the start. I decided tonight to try again and though this time I would clear all data/cache/partitions etc usung clockworkmod. I formatted every option that was available through cwm. I then thought I'd connect my tab to my laptop, drop the rom onto the tab and install. Only thing is, it won't show up under 'my computer'. I then tried to revert to the backup again but it says MD5 mismatch!!. If I select reboot system now, it just hangs at the galaxy screen.
Does anyone know what I have to do to bring my Tab back to life?.
Please, please help I'm really stuck....
Thanks in advance
Scotty
Install any (stock) rom using Odin.
(what is your exact device? Only flash a ROM specifically designed for your device)
EDIT: alternatively, you should be able to connect the tab by usb cable to pc, in recovery, and transfer any flashable rom .zip that way... (etc)
Are you sure you are using a safe CWM version?

I am using cwm v5.5.0.4 How do I use odin?. Is there a comprehensive guide?. Where do I get stock rom from?. I have a P7310 wifi UK tab. I have never tried to rom my tab before, am used to doing my htc phones where I drop the rom onto my memory card and then put the memory card back in the phone to flash but as the tab doesn't take sd's am a bit stuck. I cannot connect it to my laptop or pc as it doesn't show up as connected.
Read the "one stop guide" sticky, or Google Odin...

I have read and downloaded all the files it says I need. I have installed the drivers again even though it said they were already installed. When I click to open odin, I get the window that says something in foreign. I click ok and the odin window flashes up for a split second and then goes off again......what am I doing wrong??.
Right...... Managed to get odin to work and flashed it with stock. Tablet is back to life and all is good..... apart from most of my memory is used up!. The tablet has no apps or anything other than stock installed on it but it says I have over a gig of apps that aren't showing in the apps list and also all my old pictures etc are there..
How do I format everything to get all my memory back that it originally came with?.

I have the same thing on my galaxy tab. It's the "you suck at loading software" screen lol from my understanding its still the Download mode screen.
You have to use odin or heimdall to load a new Rom.

Do you have a link to a stock rom download ? P1000 ?
I can`t seem to find one that is completly stock :S
Go here and download gbsafe_v5. Zip
It has everything you need including drivers and odin files
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317384
Also download overcome-kernel_4. 0.tar file as well.
Once you downloaded these two files plug in your tab to usb and wait for that phone and pc screen.
Go here and follow steps up to 10.
magrathearoms.weebly.com/install.html
Your phone is now stock'ish GB with OC'ed kernel including custom clockwork recovery. This version also comes with phone capabilities unlocked so you can use it like a real phone. All you have to do is load tmobile. Modem file

Hello!
I know that I should have done a lot more research before jumping in but here is what happened. I have also looked everywhere in the captivate forums with no luck. I upgraded to stock Gingerbread from Froyo a while back, yesterday I decided that I wanted to root, which I accomplished with Odin. The rooting went just fine, after that I wanted to flash ICS Slim onto my phone, which I soon realized I needed clockworkmod recovery for. After research found out that it doesn't work using ROM manager so I followed a guide to install it and here is where things went sour, following the guide I installed Hardcore’s SpeedMod Kernel it rebooted and it started normally, passing the AT&T bootscreen but now I am completely stuck on the screen after saying "GALAXY S SGH-l897" and on bottom "SAMSUNG". I am able to access the downloading screen and I just do not want to do anymore damage than I have already.
TL;DR: I'm stuck on boot after installing Hardcore's speedmod kernal, able to get on download screen, don't want to do anymore damage. Long story short, what can I do to repair my phone to a usable state?
Google "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery to Samsung Captivate" 3rd link down to see the guide that I used.
Thank you for taking the time to help!
I think hardcore speed mod kernel is for froyo/eclair that's why you're boot looping, but clockwork mod should work. Try using the three button combo to get into recovery and flash whatever captivate ICS ROM you chose, assuming you have the file in your internal SD.

thanks for the reply, unfortunately I don't have any ROM on my internal at all, is there a way to flash a ROM from odin or another software? Or do I have to use the clockworkmod recovery to flash it on?
You can mount USB storage from recovery, so transfer the ROM to your sd card that way

Edit: removed cause you beat me to it
Yes, there is a list of stock Odin one click packages in the development forum stickies.

I am trying to mount the USB Mass Storage from ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.0, but nothing will appear onto my computer, if I could get this to mount could I flash 2.3.5 using Kies Mini? Would the wipe data/factory reset help me here?
Try reinstalling samsung drivers to get your phone recognized. Since you're on 2.3.5 already, Kies will not let you re-download because it assumes you're on the latest firmware already. Use the Odin one click package. Or heimdall one click.
Don't rush. If you're still unsure keep searching. Read thoroughly so errors won't happen

No wiping will not help you lol. Its better to flash back to 2.3.5 and start fresh.

I've got the same problem with my phone, but I arrived there thru different means.. I used an app called Kernel Manager Light, and believe I tried flashing something called like Fastloader, or Fast boot loader.. something.. anyways, looked good for a minute, while it flashed it, then rebooted my phone & since then, it doesn't load past a screen that reads "GALAXY S" then smaller and below it "SGH-I897".. then across the bottom, "SAMSUNG".. Totally stuck there, for DAYS. I've been reading these forums for what seems like ever, and this is the closest scenario I've found to my own situation.
I can't get my phone into download mode no matter what I do. I can't get into it thru ADB. All I get is that screen.
In ADB, when I type C:/ADB devices, it will sometimes recognize my device (tho more often than not it won't) and even whwn it does, as soon as I try to access my phone thru ADB, it just freezes up too.. I hit enter, and the cursor drops down to the next line, but nothing ever happens from there.
Someone please help..?

!!! HELP !!! I'm very wet behind the ears when it comes to this!!! HENSE my username. this started after connecting my cap. to a pc with intentions of exporting some pics. that initial (1st) and Only pc notification about detecting a usb device, my cousin sitting down at the monitor clicked outside the bubble message. Now from this point on which was several attempts i would get could recognize device msg. I did not know this was gonna be the results, i can actually remember noticable gliches and flaws progressively worse and worse. icons looking like they had a bulb burning out, awful lag in dialer and or any commands. I know now after reading similar posts my attempts to back-up,recover, i did several restore sessions, wiped data & system in a last ditch effort to get my phone back! i was on the road out of my state. not a comforting situation. I'D REALLY APPRECIATE THE HELP! I'M LEARNING AS I CRAWL ALONG HERE, WITH THAT BEING SAID I'M NOT FAMILIAR WITH ALOT OF THE LINGO! symbols , abbreviations , etc:crying:
Ur post is confusing...
What firmware are u on -- Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread ??
Did u get ur pics copied off of the phone and to the pc. Under the Settings in ur phone is a USB connection setting to select for when u want to transfer stuff to ur pc.
If ur phone is still jacked up from the multiple backup and restores u did, then u may just have to do a Factory Reset from the Settings menu to get things back to normal...but do understand that that means all ur pics and other stuff will get erased, etc.
If the Factory Reset doesn't work, then I would say get into download mode and flash a Stock firmware (GB 2.3.5 i897ucKK4 being the latest official) and then proceed forward from there however u want.
See the stickied threads in the Q &A and Dev forums for help with flashin to Stock and Dev Roms.

After searching for hours and getting nothing but eye ache, I've desperately come to decision to start a new topic.
I wanted to install ICS (I've had 2.3.6 installed) on my P1000. I've read all the guides and figured I needed to root my phone. I wasn't sure if it was rooted before - it did boot with "overcome expirience" logo and it did have Superuser app installed. I wasn't sure however, so I decided to root it using one of the guides.
I've downloaded Odin3 v1.7, which had a PDA file named CF-Root-TAB7_XX_OXA_JQ1-v3.3-CWM3RFS.
I've rebooted my device in "download mode". I wasn't sure if I had USB debugging enabled. That was my 1st mistake, I haven't checked before I rebooted in download mode.
I followed the instructions and odin-ed my phone. I got the "green PASS" field and my tab auto-rebooted, and it stuck at 1st black screen, showing nothing but "GALAXY TAB" in the middle, and "SAMSUNG" at the bottom. Whatever I do, that's how far it goes.
I can still access download mode and CWM. Started CWM and tried factory data, but it couldn't do it. Tried deleting the cache too, and many other options, but nothing worked. CMW's errors all begin with "Unknown path". Like there's no sdcard or internal memory at all. I've tested the sd in other device, it works well and all the data is there.
So I bricked it when I rooted it. Maybe I shouldn't have used that PDA file? Is there anything I can do to fix this? PLEASE HELP.
You shouknt have.
That PDA has some possibility of bricking, and it nearly has.
Overcome is a rooted rom, why you flash cf I don't know.
Now, follow the entire overcome method or move on to ics.

Out of seven thousand guides out there, I've managed to miss this one, the only worth it.
Thanks a million. Ever happen to be in Serbia, Imma pay dinner. Much love!
(Sorry if I'm in the wrong section, there was no question thread)
My friend bought my galaxy tab and he did a factory reset on a rooted device, and it won't let him press "Start" on the set-up
There are no backups or anything, and I can't find a way to connect it to the computer to put a new rom on it. There's no sd card slot, so I can't load one on there, and mounting won't work even after I reinstalled kies and the drivers.
Like I said, no backups, won't even load rom, won't start set up, won't connect from the start screen, and unfortunetly won't mount through recovery.
Any ideas?
Btw it is CWM Recovery and the rom was Honey-something or another. It was honeycomb though for sure.
Have you tried putting it into download mode? and then use Odin to flash a ROM.

Yea good idea, I tried it but download didn't work. I was able to get into settings and set up wifi direct, so hopefully it'll let me send 400mb of a new rom over wifi direct. :/
No need to wifi direct the file, just put the gtab to download mode then open Odin in the computer, select the ROM desired using Odin, connect gtab in computer then click Start in Odin. Then Odin will install the ROM into your Gtab.

If you can get into the system enough to setup WiFi then you can also use adb to transfer files over a USB cable.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000. Using Odin3 v3.04 I (accidently) flashed the Bootloader with the wrong binary. With the Auto-Reboot option selected on the Odin3, the device turned off and is not turning on again.
Before flashing, my Tab had the official Samsung GB 2.3.3 (P1000JPJPC if I am not mistaken).
Some threads suggest that I charge the Tab using the wall charger for 4 hours, and see if the battery icon appears on the screen or not, then connect the tab to the PC. I did that. I connected the Tab to the wall charger overnight. Nothing appeared on the screen. Then the next morning I connected the Tab to the PC, nothing happened. The PC does not recognize that there is anything connected on its USB port.
The Tab is not turning on. I've tried to press (and long press) almost every combination of the Tab's keys I could think of, but the Tab just won't turn on.
I guess I hardbricked my device (as explained in this thread)
I don't think I'll be able to apply the Unbrickable process explained here.
Having said that, my question is: Is there anything else I can do at home to revive my Tab, or do I need to send it to Samsung repair center?
-Adel
I think you brick it.
Flashing bad boot loader kills the tab.

If you've completely killed your tab, what can be done to fix it. I have a similar problem with my tab in that it gets to the screen that says samsung galaxy tab and then stops there. I have been searching the net and have rooted the tab and then tried to flash firmware but i am struggling to get the tab to read the ext sd card with the firmware on it.I don't really know my way around this type f thing but have to figure it out because I can't afford to take it in to be repaired right now. Advise will be appreciated.

Hi Priyana,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, as far I could tell from reading up on it, I would guess mine is not bricked.
I can boot to download mode and to recovery - cwm (v3.0.0.5). I have tried downloading Overcome and anything else I thought might work but this is where I get stuck. I've wiped the cache and other things like that described on the net and on videos (actually this is what got me into this in the first place). When I copy a .zip file onto the external sd card and put it in the tab, I can't install the zip from the sd card because it can't find the directory I made. I'll have a look in your signature and see what I can find there but any guidance would be much appreciated.
Komplotter,
Yeah, I am not sure about cwm 3.0 accessing external SD.
Try using overcome restock, jump to page 7 PDF.
Flash stock, then overcome kernel.
That gives cwm 5.0

Hi,
I managed to get CWM 5.5.0.4 and get ICS installed in my tab by using two files (CF-Root-TAB7_XX_OXA_JQ1-v3.3-CWM3RFS and P1000XXJQ1_P1000XXJQ1_P1000XXJPZ). I would still like to use Overcome and I have had a brief look at the installation guide. I'll have a more thorough look and then give it a shot. I see that there is a version 4.1.0. Would I use that in that same way as the 4.0.0 ROM, because the Overcome7_ROMv4_Wipe file won't extract (there seems to be a problem with it and I've downloaded it twice).
You don't need the overcome ROM.
Just GB stock safe and overcome kernel.
