Never had an issue with mine think goodness, and this tablet has been worth every penny and more.

I compared in hand a rooted KFHD and the N7. I choose the N7 and I don't regret it at all. Actually I'm very pleased with it. Read all the manufacture defects but so far mine is fine. I put it in a case now and makes me feel better.

I lucked out as well no hardware problems what so ever. How do I find out what model I have ?

If you still have the box, it's on the bottom in the label. It'll start with a string of C#O

No issues with mine either, had a little blip the other day where it crashed, FULLY for the first time. Held the power button and did a little restart, its like a woman, treat it right and it loves ya back, give it crap and itll piss you off

Cool story bro. What's the point of this thread? Just telling people you are happy?

Coming from somebody who's screen magically cracked without me dropping it, I would still say the N7 is one of the best tablets out there, hands down. Initial product release is always a risky time for consumers, and I knew that walking into it. You can say that it should be perfect from the get-go and yeah I would agree, but replace the N7 with anything else, whether it be the iPad, a TV, a Chevy pickup truck, it doesn't matter. Lemons exist, especially during the initial run. Couple that with the fact that there are thousands of people who never complained about their N7 and the greater picture becomes a little clearer. Forums by nature tend to attract enthusiasts of that product as well as negativity since users with issues tend to seek out a place to vent (forums being a nice target), whereas the majority of people wouldn't bother to seek out a place to speak highly of the product - they'd rather utilize that time USING that product. I think my opinion is further swayed to the positives because ASUS *did* fix mine under warranty. Granted, I called them a few times so they knew my level of frustration before they even had a chance to work on it, but the end result was a 100% functional fixed unit. I'm a fan.

Love my Nexus 7. Only complaint was that I was cheap and purchased the 8GB version. The 16GB would have been a better match.

Just got mine yesterday and Im loving it, its a c80, the only problem I found is the crackling sound that it makes when I unlock it or select something, only problem so far, hope not to get one of the other major issues...

I unlocked and rooted mine the day I bought it (a week ago).
All went well via RomManager Premium, until I tried flashing a Rom.
Which then took into boot loop for a day or so.
Eventually got it back to life via Nexus Toolkit (Wugs).
Now left it in Stock mode using NOVA Launcher Prime and all is good!
Best 7" Tab ever, and I used to own a Sammy 10.1 Tab.
Awesome value for money.
Thumbs up to Android/Google! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Seriously? Yeah lol, seriously I couldnt expect less from this little baby, it would be the perfect tablet only if it hadnt those issues u.u

Same here. I'm so tired of seeing all this negativity through the Nexus 7 threads. My device is literally perfect. I've had it for about a month the now and love it more each day. No issues whatsoever, and receiving my Portenzo Bookcase in the mail the other day was the icing on the cake!!! I love this thing. Very affordable, and for the money, I got much, MUCH more than I bargained for. I'd gladly pay 250$ or even a bit more for a product of this caliber.

I dont have a tablet so thats why i was thinking i should order it. Thanks for your reply.
Definately worth it.. Only downside is after using one for a bit you'll think your GNex is too small!
Technology is never an investment. Two, three, six months later the latest hotness is two years old and worth a fraction of what you paid. Don't buy something as an investment and expecting to recover any expenses in the world of Technology.
As far as being worth the expense of being a useful gadget you will enjoy, yes it is very much worth it. If you spend any time browsing the web, youtube, games, or movies on your phone, using the Nexus 7 will make it a more enjoyable experience and not kill your phone in the process. Tablets are still limited to being media consumption devices, i.e. dont expect them to do everything a PC can, but they do have a viable need in the gap between a smart phone and a laptop or desktop.

True for all kinds of things. People who feel like they got screwed are more likely to speak up.
I'm actually surprised at battery life too. I'm on cyanogen so can't compare to stock but I keep at full brightness and its great for me. Of course I've never owned tab so maybe that's normal
From the Note to Nexus 7
Haven't had any problems with mine yet.
Mines perfect as well. The person above me who mentioned that people don't make as much noise about a perfect tablet really hit the nail on the head. It's a fact of life on the forums. Often times a developer builds a perfect rom as far as custom development goes, and many of the pages of the rom thread are cluttered with complaints. It's often time user error but they don't realize it at first. Especially early on, because people are enjoying the product and taking the time to say "I don't have any problems" isn't a priority.
We also seem to have the problem of people getting told they should have problems so they look way too hard for something. Let me be clear though I know there are tablets that have problems and most people have legitimate claims, it's just the percentage of problems that disproportionate to the real world.

I have a 32gb Touchpad, and a Nexus 7. The Nexus 7 is more portable, comfortable, and stable. Typing on the Nexus 7 is much easier, and faster. The battery on the Nexus lasts considerably longer than the Touchpad. The Touchpad is a nice device, but I don't use it at all now that I have a Nexus 7.
I've got a Touchpad and a 7'' Android tablet. I'm using the first one as my multimedia device and Internet browsing at home (BT keyboard + mouse) and the second one when I've to use it outside home.

If it helps, I've got both. I'm using the N7 pretty well exclusively just because it's much lighter (better for reading) and fits in my cargo pocket at work. The N7 is faster, sharper, has better support (obviously) and will have for a long time. I recently went away for a week and purposely took just the N7 to see how I would get on and was pleasantly surprised.
Downsides are, it's smaller so not as good for web browsing but is still usable, the kicker is 'no flash' since it's jelly bean. There are ways of getting round that for some things but it does mean my favourite news site is a bit crippled.

Hey since FLASH is not officially supported on jb since I started using the web browser PUFFIN it has FLASH built in its the best browser IMO. It has a trackpad built in that you can/off easily.
Its the closest to browsing on a PC I've ever seen you can put it mobile browsing mode. I've tried sky fire, opera, Firefox, stock, chrome and I like PUFFIN the best.
Checkout projectfree.tv in puffin browser compares to any other.

Noticeable differences in Nexus 7 build quality

My friend and I got our nexus 7 about a week apart at different Walmarts. While I was installing some apps on his that I thought would be useful, I noticed some very slight differences.
The one that stood out the most me was that his volume rocker and power button were more crisp than mine. Every time you pressed it, there was a snap back and an actual click sound, while with mine, the feedback is more mushy and doesn't make a noise at all unless I attempt to find a sweet spot for it lol. Also I noticed the aluminum bezel on his was much more angular to where you could almost scrap your skin with it , where as mine was more rounded. His screen would also shut down and wake up about a couple milliseconds before mine every single time. I chalked it up to him having less apps possibly.
Hope this doesn't come off as complaining cause I LOVE my nexus 7 and its flawless, no screen lift or anything. I just was wondering if anybody else noticed such discrepancies.
my power button is mushy but my volume rockers are perfect...also got mine at walmart
I got mine on initial release from google store and my volume and power buttons do make a clicking sound when they are pressed and they snap back well, no mushiness

Yes, I noticed the difference in buttons. I've had two nexus 7's. One with great buttons and the other with mushy buttons, especially the Power button, that almost sticks to the point where a normal press and release of the Power button triggers the Power Off option instead of just turning off the screen.

True... but there are manufacturing defects. 723 votes in the defective from store poll and over 500 votes in the type of defects poll. I know this is very small percentage, but these are active users on XDA excited about their new device and having problems, defects and seeking help.
Its a brilliant device no doubt, but I still think many here are waiting for its 3rd or 4th generation builds. I personally don't have the confidence (nor bandwidth) to chase a defective unit. Going to wait until March next year...
Worse thing is there is no official response from either GOOG or ASUS about the manufacturing defects, nobody has any idea exactly if there is an improvement in the new builds or its trial an error still. I cannot wait to get mine, but have decided to wait.

I bought it for christmas for my wife.
I have a Desire HD and she has a Incredible S as smartphones.
I have a Samsung Tab 10.1.
So as mobile tab or for ebooks it's the best one I think.
And it's a very good price. For a tablet in 10.1 inch you pay 400 £.
If you want to invest 400 £ buy a Galaxy Tab 10.1 otherwise a Nexus.

I have been surprisingly impressed with my nexus 7. I bought it at launch, and I was already heavily involved with the HTC rezound and the Transformer prime tablet. I had also had two iPads so I thought I knew all I needed to know about tablets. Had my local staples not had one in stock aftrer launch or had it been more expensive I wouldn't have tried it.
But I'm so glad I did, because the 7 inch size surprisingly makes it feel, completely different from a 10 inch, and its so handy and convenient. My favorite part is the development. I set my tablet aside for a few weeks, and when I came back to it development had increased instead of slowed, so I get to flash and help work on toms of stuff.
If you have any more questions send them on but I highly recommend trying it.

Asking this question in a forum full of people who already own the device seems a bad idea as far as getting unbiased opinions goes.
I suppose your right but I wasn't going to ask it in the galaxy s3 forum or anything else haha

I got a 32gb one for Christmas and I regret nothing, it's the best device I ever looked at. I advise you to buy it, the cost-benefit is just crazy

You'll be glad you bought it! I had a 10" Transformer that I could never get on with let alone take anywhere! For portability nothing beats it and you will appreciate the pure Android experience for sure. I also thought I'd miss the extra few inches but in fact I prefer it because it makes typing and playing games much easier as your not stretching to use the controls all the time nor are you fed up of how heavy it gets in your hands although I appreciate that depends on what 10" you have.
Enjoy it!
I'd say go for it. The Nexus 7 is easily my most used gadget I own.

You wont't be wront.

Galaxy tab2 10.1 is only £230'ish and the note 10.1 only £320'ish
Anywho, N7 is the best bang for buck on the market. Yes it has its flaws (well some do) but it's still a tidy, fast machine.

As a guy who has owned probably half a dozen different android tablets, this guy has said most of what I would have about the n7. At home I use it more than both my laptop and Nexus phone. Out and about I'll always take it with me in preference to my laptop as it's small enough to be very portable yet still large enough to be much more comfortable to use than my phone.

These 'should I buy' threads always make me laugh.
Why not go ask in an ipad mini forum if you should buy a 7 over a mini.
I'm sure they'll all say a 7 :what:

OK how about this just compare all the other tablets to the n7. Then look at what you get for your money. Hands down the n7 is underpriced for what's inside. The only thing that it lacks is a SD slot.
Seriously why did we get the n7. Sure its a nexus but we got it because of the price its cheap and gives you the most bang for your buck.
