Hi guys!
I have some questions about mebitek's CM 7.2-RC1 build.
-Is the Task Manager application really not included in this ROM?
-Are you guys also having some issues wherein some sound distortion will occur while playing music through a headset using the stock music player application?
-I noticed that whenever I reboot my phone, my OpenVPN Settings application will always force close and the only way to fix it is by restoring its Data through Titanium Backup. Are you guys also experiencing this?
Those issues are really at a minimal level and so far, Im liking this CM 7.2 build (I've been using this for a week now.)
I hope someone can answer my questions.
Thanks in advance!

you can push stock manager in system/app , how to do that there's an existing thread about that. or use advance task manager, it has a feature that can automate the clearing of ram when everytime your screens turna off.
- i think most of all of cm7 has that distorting sound. i also use this rom, im using player pro without the dsp pack feature of this music player. tip, lower the bass or dont touch it from the equilizer. and disable the bass boost in the rom's dsp setting.
- i dont have any force closes encountered since i use this rom.

thanks for answering my post sir i dont really need an automated task killer, i only need something i could use whenever an app starts becoming unresponsive. ill try your suggestion of pushing the stock task manager for sure
i just reflashed another cm7 rom (kittenlinux's odex cm7 revision of mebitek's rom) and i didnt encounter fc in openvpn. im gonna try this rom since i think this is an optimized version of the original rom. the only thing that i cant seem to find is the option to kill app using long press of the back button.
p.s.: i think most people here doesnt understand our reason for using openvpn on our phone since they are from a different country.

i haven't tried using soft buttons yet but regarding your question about adrenaline engine's compatibility with this rom, it is compatible. just make sure you use the CM version of the script
adrenaline made my phone become more snappier. just be sure to mount data and system before flashing or else it wouldnt work.
on mine, i don't flash any tweaks in this rom. i'm satisfied to the speed of this this rom, even overclocked in 604Mhz. i also removed soft botton that i flashed. sorry for my bad english.

there's nothing wrong with soft buttpn, for me i dont want to change anything in a custom rom. i want it on what it has. i dont have any issue on my sim toolkit, it' s working perfectly.

so far i haven't experienced any problems with flashing yet though i've already flashed multiple roms in the past on this phone.
just a tip, if you are going to flash a stock rom via odin, be sure to use the one without a bootloader included (you can find it on the development section). its safe since it will not mess around your phone's boot partition (which causes hard bricks)
and if you are going to flash a rom via CWM Recovery, be sure to flash while your battery is still strong. make sure that you are not going to run out of battery in the middle of flashing or else, it may cause trouble
Thanks for the advise @ xxxraymond... i did try to flash a stock Rom from this location "yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2012/01/official-samsung-firmwares" and it seems to have no problem flashing it. can you tell me what the "bootloader" means? and why it should not be included in the Stock Rom? another thing... is there any Stock Rom Gingerbread 2.3.6 for "S5570DXKPD" baseband? i tried to use "JVKT1" working fine for me.. but it's not for Asian Rom...

im simple terms, the bootloader is the part of your phone which has the files/codes needed to startup you phone during boot. so if your phone's boot loader gets corrupted, it will result to what most people call a hard brick.
you can find the stock roms which has the bootloaders removed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551586
fyi: those stock roms can only be flashed via odin and is only applicable when going back to stock rom or when flashing a custom rom which requires you to have a clean/fresh stock rom first
i hope this helps
Thanks for the info @ xxxraymond... can i use this ROM even if my baseband is already in S5570DXKPD?...

it should work as long as you are in gingerbread. although some devs recommend that you use 2.3.6 as base.
be sure to read the devs instructions before flashing and always create a nandroid backup using cwm recovery before doing it. trust me it can save you from a soft brick just in case something goes wrong
@ xxxraymond... may i ask if you also experienced unstable wifi connection on this ROM? upon browsing, (mostly on Facebook Apps) it shows connection disabled even though there is at 1 to 2 bars wifi signal on it... before on stock rom i never experienced it, unless no signal detected. i was just thingking... is there any configuration setup to make this things get well?

This is normal on most cm7 rom as I know it. When out of range it will show 1 or 2 bar but after a few second it will dissapear.

Hi everyone!
I'm a n00b at flashing roms and could really do with some advice. If anyone could give me some advice or a mini guide I would be very grateful!
Basically I rooted my phone last night and was looking to install the kingdroid 7.3 rom (or 7.4 if you could help me out with a link?)
The method I used was the SD method:
Reboot to recovery mode then install:
Root_SuperSU.0.95.Only-signed
Reboot to recovery mode again and install:
Root_Busybox_1.20.2_Only_(No_SuperSU)-S2-Update3-signed
Ok so now I think my phone is rooted. I am currently running 4.0.4 ICS and XXLRK baseband.
What is the best and safest method to install kingdroid from here? I seriously have no idea where to start after reading numerous threads I've gotten myself a bit confused!
Thanks a lot for any help. If you need any more info please let me know!

Im assumed you note was rooted.
1) download mobile odin thru google play and install it.
2.) Download notecore/ speedmod kernel in tar/odin file.
3. Open mobile odin, press kernel button and find the kernel tar file.
4). After choose the right kernel file, scroll down and press start flash firmware.
5. After reboot, your phone will come with safe kernel with recovery as well. ( check kernel thru *cpu spy*).
6. Boot into recovery mode ...and u ready to flash anything. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AT RELATED OP /INSTALLATION METHOD BEFORE FLASH ANYTHING, SINCE EVERY ROM MIGHT HAVE DIFFERENT INSTALLATION METHOD.
Good luck mate.

Ok that sounds good to me. But how do I flash the phone? Do I just download kingdroid and flash through recovery mode? I heard it is risky to do a full wipe or something like that? Or do I flash using Odin and a USB?
Would be great if anyone could give me a slight more in depth guide to the flashing part to the process. Bonus would be if it involved flashing the latest kingdroid rom :good:

I reckon.. After flashing speed mod... U will get cwm.... U can make a nandroid backup then...
Hmm...since you at stock ics 4.0.4. I dont think you need to do any nandroid backup. In case anything happen, you can always go sammobile.com and download latest stock rom and flash thru pc odin.
If you really wanna do nandroid backup, i will recommend you flash speedmod. That was because speedmod is more faster than notecore in terms of backup.
But for nandroid restore, myself will prefer abssy4.2. Since chasmodo also mentioned that no guarantee 100% safe at both kernel for doing restore.

Hello fellow xda'ers.
For some reason I can't get 3g to work whenever I try an ics rom.
I checked vpn and all looks good so I don't think that's it. Running Alliance ics final.
what do you mean by "whenever i try an ICS rom"?
does it work with other ROMs?
Yes works flawless when I use my GB nandroid.
once in ICS, may be remove your APN settings and confirm it with your provider and reenter then and see
You mean delete the one I have now and make new one with correct settings? Worth a shot, not having 3g keeps me from staying on ics.
I'll try it, keep you posted, thanx for your help!
yes yes. sometimes upgrading the rom messwith the APN settings.. or try the latest TW JB rom XXLSA

I downloaded DjangoManouche X 1.6.1 and whenever I go to install, it goes through the first steps, then screen gets black and goes back to Clockwork Recovery. I tried with other ROMs and similar things happen.
What could it be?

Well, just because it's the only ROM I can install. Still want to upgrade, but I can't do anything. USB isn't working, ROM from external SD don't install...
don't get me wrong, cm7 is a good rom (especially if you installed Temasek one + vadonka kernel) - battery is great with this combo (i was using that combo for almost a year until cm10/10.1/10.2 versions of tonyp roms + pengus kernels came out in the beginning of 2013)...
but cm10.2 has some usefull stuff and many improvements over cm7...
i can only suggest you to read some more threads in the developer section... moving to a new bootloader can give you some more benefits if you're into the newest roms (since the rom developers usually support only the new bootloader first, and then they make an old bootloader versions of their roms/kernels as well - or they don't - it's up to them and their free time)
i'm also considering to finally switch to a new bootloader - but i'm still waiting for the new cm11 (kitkat) roms and 3.1+ kernel to become stable enough for a daily use...
it's up to you to see what you need most out of the rom... but some reading before flashing is mandatory... if you've read some more - you'd already know your problem before i wrote my post and explaining the old/new bl issue...
once a week someone comes up with the same problem because he doesn't read about bootloaders or is just lazy to read the 1st posts in the rom threads...
i hope i helped... cheers

don't get me wrong, cm7 is a good rom (especially if you installed Temasek one + vadonka kernel) - battery is great with this combo (i was using that combo for almost a year until cm10/10.1/10.2 versions of tonyp roms + pengus kernels came out in the beginning of 2013)...
but cm10.2 has some usefull stuff and many improvements over cm7...
i can only suggest you to read some more threads in the developer section... moving to a new bootloader can give you some more benefits if you're into the newest roms (since the rom developers usually support only the new bootloader first, and then they make an old bootloader versions of their roms/kernels as well - or they don't - it's up to them and their free time)
i'm also considering to finally switch to a new bootloader - but i'm still waiting for the new cm11 (kitkat) roms and 3.1+ kernel to become stable enough for a daily use...
it's up to you to see what you need most out of the rom... but some reading before flashing is mandatory... if you've read some more - you'd already know your problem before i wrote my post and explaining the old/new bl issue...
once a week someone comes up with the same problem because he doesn't read about bootloaders or is just lazy to read the 1st posts in the rom threads...
i hope i helped... cheers

How is Cm10.2 working for you? Battery life/speed/etc
I had 10.1 I believe and it was horrible.
I can' install new bootloaders, etc...as I can't enter debug mode, nor do anything
just to make sure...
your usb doesn't work when the phone is fully booted into the rom or it doesn't work for SW upgrade?
did you try other usb ports? (don't use usb hubs for this, especially for SW upgrade stuff)
did you install the correct windows drivers for the phone?

it was horrible if you used the official CM10.1 nightlies... not if you've been using tonyp cm10.1 based roms and pengus kernels... believe me...
currently i'm on the tonyp "The rom" build 26 + pengus kk126 kernel (no ram hack version)
battery lasts for almost 2 days with moderate use (around 3 hrs screen on + wi-fi on, some calls, some messages)
phone is snappy, i don't have syncs turned on in any app...
phone is oc-ed to 1500mhz (min 216, max 1500mhz), and if you care about the benchmarks - it gives a solid 9000+ in antutu...
for a 3 year old phone - i'm satisfied enough...
btw what version of cwm do you have?
your starting point can be here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737
and please at least read the 1st page of the thread if not all of it (for user comments)
there is also an option to install the correct windows drivers and a tutorial for windows 8 (i'm on win7 x64)
I've tried different ports, different cables, different copmuters...I've read that a lot of people have this issue though, especially after upgrading to CM7...which was my case. Ever since I haven't been able to do it

omg...this is a puzzle (at least for me ,maybe some on can solve this in a snap, but it really seems complicated)
first, we need to resolved why smart flash won't recognize your device...than everything should go with no problems

what color is INSTALL APX in aio toolkit...is it gray or is white like every thing else, when you connect phone?
if you have installed all drivers(lg united, nvflash drivers, apx, adb usb drivers...that is in tonyp basketbuild downloads in p990 staff-->various ) and if you are not did this: SU660 Users: Download Both P990 & SU660-AddOn packages. Run & extract the P990 first and then extract in the same folder the SU660-AddOn. AIO-Toolkit will be converted to support SU660 device
by mistake i really dont know where is problem...
Hi all,
I finally decided to sell this old phone. It's time, it's time...
Perhaps I've 2 persons interested onto, my problem before show it to them is : WHAT ROM FLASH ?
I've tried all the roms released this year. Baaaaaa, terrible. Every rom is a disaster, lag, slow, bugs... I've to return in the past ! But where in the past ? I've to flash a rom that who'll buy my phone may use. No excuse on this, an usable rom. I've to flash simply a JB 4.3 ? What kind ? What rom ? Or I've to go beyond, 4.2.2 ? Or even 4.0.x ? And the same, what kind of rom ?
Please, help me to flash a rom that is able to make my phone "normal", "standard", "usable", it doesn't matter what rom is, just 4.x.x :highfive:
Temasek 4.2.2 is great everything works but flash our LG camera AP
This ROM is great for games good battery performance
