Real HTC Sense 3.5 For Galaxy Ace!
hey guys,
so this is the long awaited HTC sense port.
its sense 3.5, and yes, it isn't the best sense version out there, it is light and minimal etc., but it is good.
and the UI works smooth, no lag or so.
this port is meant for the samsung galaxy gio, but I have ported it to the galaxy ace, as there are more developers, and Im getting a bit ''stuck'' on the project, as it is hard to get Sense completely working on a device with different hardware.
why post in original development thread?
well, gio doesn't have that subforum, but in my opinion, it is a significant “first” in development for a device, as the requirement asks. this is not based on an rom already available for ace. that's why.
why port to galaxy ace?
well, as said above, the project is a bit dead at the galaxy gio development, so I ported it to the ace so developers of this device can help, and develop on sense 3.5, to fix the bugs, and get sense 3.5 working as a normal galaxy ace rom. android is open source, and so am I. anyone can work with me on this project, but I don't have an ace, but I had testers for a private build(thanks coolcatgethome and (frank) ) ,before I published this. but, if you think you might have fixed something, I can test it out to if it works for gio, as only the camera is different hardware. so anyone is free to work on this project with me, as our collective interest is to get HTC Sense 3.5 working (almost) bugfree on our samsung devices.

Instructions:
Warning: im not responsible for ANY damage to your phone.
make sure you have a working nandroid backup(just in case)
1 download the flashable zip
2 put on the root of your SD card
3 do a full wipe in recovery(system, data, cache, sd-ext, dalvik)
4 install the zip
5 reboot
6 wait for the bootanimion to disappear(about 4 minutes, maybe more)
7 enjoy HTC sense

bad thing is im very busy for college, and yes, I tried,. but failed..

if you make complete ui: do you have a working weather/clock widget? neither old fancy widget nor new 4.0 style .apks seem to work (or dont work anymore. dunno why)

I tried yesterday and loved, it takes a few minutes to get ready. I tried to add the APN settings from my carrier, but Android says there's no SIM inserted (I know data is not working) however call is working.
Please keep on with this project, Sense is incredible.

But the mic doesn't work. I don't really call that much though; mostly sms.
I just tried it and it is AMAZING. Easily the best rom I've seen in ages, true to word it's a real genuine port. If only the wifi was working, it would be perfect; I wouldn't mind the lack of a camera, even. Really good job mate.
EDIT: One observation though. Sometimes when I hit the reboot or shut down button it does nothing. Sometimes the screen blanks off but when you hit the power button you realise it was just on idle.

I have rebuilt my kitchen from scratch, and I just ported the new leaked sprint diamond rom (wwe) CE OS 5.2.20764 (Build 20764.1.4.3) yes its a older build then the 21014, im just testing it to see how it is, and im just sharing my test rom EDIT: WORKS GREAT, SPEED IS AMAZING

I am starting a new thread with a beta of the 2.5 version (or perhaps I will make a new thread and it will become v3.0)
This is using a new base, and now a new build from x1 and its UC ready
Removed panels (But not panelmanager) so you can install by cabs the ones you like

little feedback
when installing programs that have multi langugage, for example aeb plus, default language selected is simplified chinese
UC is working but not like on 2.2, I don't know why but I got it 3 times hard reseted and all 3 times UC stopped at half way, I haven't changed any of files since 2.2 so I know that they are working
other than that rom is working fast
I will play more with it so if I find something more I will report it

I used the 0409 locale from the older build, plus it needs some editing in dll and exe.
I know there are some language issues in this rom, and some bugs has come back. Mainly because I have moved to a better base from x1, and that some of the fixes I used on the HD base is not working here.
But my main concernright now is locating/removing/editing some of the simplified chinese settings.
This rom is cooked diffrently then the rest, and im still working on optimizing the kitchen so that making of multilanguage roms can be done easier.

Notable errors
1) You may not have always to start network signal, if your name appears operator, but not the signal, To fix this you should go to: Settings> Mobile networks> Network operators> Select automatically> (Now uncheck)> Next> OK> Cancel. This we must always perform to turn off, turn on, restart the phone and have no signal.

Why we must install a rom with a lot a bug? All the rom ICS are full of bug and an adapted for daily use especially for who use the phone for work. I'm sure that easily all developers solve the problem very fast, but before this I wouldn't risk, your rom is amazing and my hearth would install but my head say not. Tank so and wait for the next release.

M8 you know that blatecktonik or any developer put a lot of time when develope a rom.Some bugs are the same for all ICS based roms.You aren't forced to install the rom.
And it's Alpha 1.Wait for the vers. that it will make you happy .

Just a tip: you need to throw in some more stuff in order to grab users' attention. And this isn't an easy thing to do in a nexus device as there are many ROMs with great quality and many features (which is the thing that attracts most users, unfortunately).

Just installed and like it as far as vanilla goes only nag im seeing is gapps aren't showing up in market except currents.
I've fix permissions and cleared market cache/data and still not showing google+ maps etc in my apps. unless this is meant to be like this (on play store can see in draw fine)

Exactly this...but there is another thing too...It hasn't got to be full of features in order to be a good ROM, but it has to be fast and smooth. Right now there are many fast roms but they are not smooth enough, or they are smooth and not fast...

ok i used the rom for about a week now and this is what i see so far:
it's fast and smooth and you can play games on it (if that's your thing) with little to no lag.
no hanging on the home screen (i really like stock home better but nova is the next best thing)
to clean some notification settings, quad menu would do fine and still keep it nice and cleen
some times when someone calls the screen stays off and locked (you have to pres the power button and unlock to see the call screen or chose it from notifications witch annoy's the s**t out of me)
other from that every thing works fine and has good battery life to
i get 16 to 18h with wi-fi and 3g always on 30-50 min of phone calls, some gaming and non-stop messiging
cant wait for next release

This is a port i made from the latest Jelly bean 4.1.2 build by. The base rom for this is Danibosnev's build of CM 10.
This does not yet boot, but close enough apart from a few errors (can't figure out what they are yet though), so i need help from everyone to test, logcat and report back with fixes.

Wont it be better to base it on the CM9 where everything works, and just fix the framework for it ? Because the JB ROM has problems with the drivers and the kernel

I prefer jelly bean, on other devices like ours it runs smother in some areas of the UI, so thats why im porting it from another device until it starts to run faster.

And what exactly should we the "users" do? Should i have a closer look at the ROM and provide you a logcat or do you have other testers and you're working on this ROM and we should wait for the next release?
KoolSavas95 have point you can just get the cm10 framework on top of the cm9 base

I'm a nub to development so alas probably wouldn't (but not for long) be able to write any fixes for you however I am more than willing to test and write bug reports. I am learning to program Android devices and am thinking of buying a Wildfire to network unlock, custom ROM, and install rooted apps so I can resell for a profit. I started with an EVO3D and my first one took me 4 days to figure out (someone gave it to me for free bricked and I got it working again. I then went around to the pawn shops where I live and bought 2 more locked EVOs then resold them via classified adverts online. Sadly till I get either another way to donate to those specific devs which without their how-to's and tools I would never have had more than a 6oz paperweight and never had such a great time learning etc... I don't have Paypal and only a pay-as-you-go credit card. So I am having trouble setting up a Google wallet, I am working on that.
Anyway even when I get that donation bit sorted I still want want to help out and learn as much as I can so that I too one day, barring a stroke brought on by trying to grasp some of the more advanced stuff involved or act of God will become a developer too like yourselves. I also velieve in open source and by donation principles. And any apps, ROMS, Themes, etc... that I create in the future will be marketed in the same way. So if there is anything that I can do please let me know and I will to the best of my ability. And as I am still a nub if you have any pointers towards my achieving the gaol of developer etc... I am all ears.
Hope this finds you well may all your bugs be easy to fix.
Even though this is a port you still need to put a link in the op to the original rom or source used. Thanks in advance.

Rebased on galaxy mini rom because its LDPI, getting closer to booting
Also ported CM9.1 from the same thread, it boots and im just tweaking it, plus its all LDPI so no re-sizing issues
I hope u can get the wifi working . In the build from source we still dont know how to get it working.
But very nice that u try to get it booting

I think he edited the boot.img, but dont know it for sure. If it was the boot.img, i already could give u one that should have booted JB.
Now my bigest hope for your project is that the wifi will be working. If u got the fix i would happely know so we can bring CM10 from experimetal state to alpha/beta state
No boot.img changes, just a couple of libs
But whenever the screen is locked, the rom goes back to boot animation and bootloops from then on
hmm, dont know what that could be. But did u try the wifi when the screen is still on , would like to know if it works or not

Oh and during the bootloop after I turn the screen off, I get a windows manager policy error, any ideas?
AOKP doesnt boo at all after the intallation it goes in bootloop who lasts forever

I haven't uploaded the AOKP build that boots yet, I'd much rather fix the errors before releasing

RD MiUI 2.12.14 is a ROM originally by dekkyy for HTC OneX
PORT by dexter_nlb
Kernel is STOCK, since we got a locked bootloader and currently no way of changing it.
NOT compatible with new v20a phones, so if you installed v20a and CWM, it will NOT work

Although this is not as good as the CustoNexus rom, it can be a daily for those that can live without bluetooth.
- wifi tether (same hack as custonexus is a no go)
- USB PC connection with mass storage sharing
- Soft button light is defective (Originate in original OneX release)
- Camera still needs lgcamera hack same as CustoNexus release.

- initial upload
- Patch attached to this post, to enable vibration, but it is buggy, it will vibrate just a little too much and go vibrator on you (require reboot).
- get lgcamera from Play store.
- start lgcamera (you will get black screen) OK - normal.
- click shot button (you will hear shater sound - but picture wouldn't be taken)
- pres back button on phone
- start camera apk from custonexus - and thats it! worked every time for me.
and works up till next reboot.
it has come to my attention, that mobile data do NOT enable, if you got a pincode on your simcard. so disable this in your stock LG rom, do NOT do it in this rom, it will fail and cause your simcard to enter PUK state and you need the PUK code to get opened again.
battery: do note, WIFI is default - always enabled - and inactivity timeout is 15minutes, you can set it to always and 5 minutes, and deep sleep is faster optained.
Factory reset / WIPE before you install if you come from STOCK LG rom, as this ROM will only install and clear system partition automatically. you are responsible for factory reset coming from another type of rom.
Alternatively - use original recovery where you factory reset as well. (VOL- + powerOn, remove usb cable, or you get to wrong menu) ..
Install the release using latest ClockWorkMod , using "install zip from external sdcard". this is a regular "update.zip" type of install.
if you get error 7 during install, go check in "mount and storage" that /system is not mounted before you install.

personally im not a MiUI fan , but i do think its the user interface and the difference here, which pretty much is the major here.
i am not familiar with MiUI, so thats pretty much what i can say. I always enjoyed HTC Sense most, but now im aosp

great work, I think maybe if the HTC ONE X has a Cyanogenmod 10.1 maybe you can convert it too that will be great to have android 4.2!

Why do you say its not as good? Is it slower more laggy or just not as nice?

its not laggy or buggy, its just not final for our device. that should be more accurate spoken.
