Hi I was wondering if anyone new how to increase the ring volume on the Tilt. I did a couple of extensive searches and all of them came up for either older phones or different phone models. Also, I read somewhere that each HTC registry differs in some manner.
I would greatly appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction to this fix.
I would also be interested in louder speaker phone volume too.
Thank you in advance.
get into your registry...HKEY_CURRENT_USER/control panel/sound catagories/ring. Here you will find2 setting at the bottom..."InitVol" ans "Speaker". Open these both, and change the "value" number higher than what you show. I have both set to 15...initvol was at 5, speaker was at 8 when I first got it. I also opened up the "alarm" file at the top of the tree and made sure that speaker value was set to 15 as well.
Now...I can hear it fine, but the dif. is pretty small. I read about this edit, but never heard back from the guy that posted it. I can't say for sure this is any kind of pro-approved method, as I am quite new to this phone/system myself. I had been hacking Motorolas till I got this a few weeks ago. I have no idea how high that value can be safely pushed, and by the looks of the device..the speaker is pretty small and weak anyway. Hope this helps..be careful..lol. Blow that lil speaker and you won't be hearing a thang!

Do a search for TCPMP. It is a media player. On the options>settings>select page> equalizer tab. check the "enabled" box and then "slowly" slide the "Pre-amp" slider to the right... trust me it will play louder!!!
So that volume tweak above is for ringer volume, what about external speaker volume (e.g. play music or hands free)?
What about the internal speaker volume for hearing the person on the other end of the phone?
I'm another newbie who'd like to know how to get to the registry...HKEY_CURRENT_USER/control panel/sound catagories/ring. after I already installed PHM RegEdit.
Thank you.

Thanks works like a charm i have a tilt with 6.1
I have known about these reg hacks for quite some time but they never work for me
i checked my dec values with this new ROM and my intvol was set at 0 and my speaker was at 1. i put them both to 5, the sound actually got lower but then higher, and lower then higher. weird
set both to 15..don't really notice a difference..
It's not that bad in Kaiser though. I used to have Eten M600 which was worse in many aspects of sounds volume, esp. loudspeaker. What we did was to replace the ril_gsm.dll with a patched one plus some reg hacks.
So maybe in this case if the reg hacks simply don't work or keep reverting back to its original value, then there's more to do than just registry. Just my 2.01 cents.
does anyone know how to increase the sound for incoming message?
please advise and thanks for the share
Hi everyody,
since i have my LG O2X, stock, modaco and then CM, I perform a very bad audio quality during calls: it's like distorded sound (very crappy) but the volume level is the lowest possible.
Is it possible to change audio codec or perform any solution to growing better this situation?
Or maybe do I have to think that's a hardware failure and i have to send the phone in asssitence?
Thank you very much.
Do you have latest baseband ?
It improves sound quality during phone calls
yes, i have it.
When i bought the device, i had the 20110315 baseband and everything was fine.
Unfortunally I had to sell the phone in assistence for a lcd trouble (insensitive in the middle up); when it came back, it has the v10b (before was 10a) firmware and the last radio 20110405 and.. this crappy problem!
I tried many roms, but the problem persists.
Do I have to revert to the oldest radio? Assistence again???
the in-call volume seems to be high even when it is reduced to the lowest.. is this to do with the baseband aswell?
That's correct: the in call volume seems to be high (very high - distorted) also when the volume is set to min.
The fact is that you can hear the volume level going lower, but the distortion persists.
Thanks for your suggests and help.
I also have that problem in the incoming sound but it is not only the incoming sound that is bad, the outgoing sound is also really bad. People that I use to call complaint about the sound of my calls. It began since I installed the cyanogen rom
I have the shame problem, people say my voice is noisying. And noticed that only happens under 2G, clear using 3G.
No problem with stock/modaco.
Enviado desde mi LG-P990 usando XDA Premium App
Hey, me too. my device began that annoying problem since installed CM. And also for me, people that listen to me told me that the sound is noising.
I reverted to modaco and then to stock, but the problem persists.
I have had this on stock rom, when i got the phone about 4 weeks ago, had the phone replaced via the VIP service, new phone never had it again (no matter what rom).
Had very distorted sound but also followed by no sound, while call connection remained.
Sometimes a battery pull helped for a bit, till it started again.
The distortion is almost like electrical disturbance...
Bad news... maybe I have to send it back again...
This evening i try to reinstall radio image, let's see what happens.
I think that's definitely a hardware's failure.
I reflashed 04052011 and 03152011 radio image and both were crappy...
If no-one here has a solution for this problem, monday i will send my phone back... again!
In the hidden menu (1809#*990#) i found the sub menu "Sound Test -> Audio CAL Tool" with many audio settings. Is there anyone that can suggest the right one for the call-in/out sound?

thanks rejj, but these are the same settings that i have.
I was looking for someone that can understand them and suggest me new combinations.
Hi, you can't change anything because, because LG did not write the method that changes the values. the only solution would be change them in the kernel
thanks simonsy, i think that tomorrow my phone will back in assistance...
what a pity, a great device and can't use it...
Well, I have the same issue!
I have the stock rom, updated just ago to 20110405 v10b (I tought i've had v10a before).
The call quality is realy worse, on speaker it is verry clear!
edit: I've also got the same values as shown above in rejj's post.
if someone could edit this value in the kernel, the value are stored in sys/platform/devices/star_wm8994/data
in particular the value that change the volume of the speaker are the register 1f, 20, 21
please someone that is able to compile and edit kernel, could try to change this value?
anyone got link to the latest baseband?
I've installed Skype and called their testing service to test my quality!
Skype doesn't seem to have these problems???
People always complaining me about my low voice when i talk them. I tested it, the mic volume is really low. I found some article about increasing mic volume level but it is for galaxy S2 and it is not work on galaxy note. If you know how to increase please help me get rid of this boring problem. Thanks
any help?
omg nobody knows?
Which rom you are on?
its supposed to be working if you are on stock firmware or any custom rom based on stock
A) Enter service mode by typing below code on your dialer :
*#*#197328640#*#*
click the following:
[5] AUDIO
[1] NB (VOICE CALL)
Choose Handset, headset, Speaker (which ever you want higher volume)
[1] VOLUME
[1] SRC Speech RX Volume
Change default values and higher the values any number of your choosing, here is an example:
[0]0_lvl : 68
[1]1_lvl : 72
[2]2_lvl : 76
[3]3_lvl : 80
[4]4_lvl : 84
[5]5_lvl : 88 Higher these values to until hear volume improvement.

Probably above needs some more testing.
If you have the issue with all people then warrantee maybe? It might be just one. Maybe they aren't holding phone right. Speaker wrong end or not in ear lol.
You can try setting option noice cancellation in dialer off. It might help.

Anyway noise reduction already off. The menu which is mentioned as a setting to set the mic volume, is not shown on my rom. If there is another way to increase the mic volume (from CWM by installing a zip file etc.) i want to know. Just it.
How can i increase the Mic volume? Is there any mod? do not tell me the "*#*#197328640#*#*" thing... It doesnt work for me. Yes the Menu is opening but i cant enter the [5]AUDIO section... Is there any other mods? for ex. Flashing through CWM etc?

I type in this code on Note N7100 and hit the call button, tell's me invalid code? any ideas?
Amazing...
Just thought I'd check in tonite and see what's going on with my favorite problem... namely, crappy audio and Mic-gain on the Note2... the "flagship" (At least at one fleeting moment) of the Samsung Fleet. LOL.
Reading the bogus information about kernels (which are only for the "Oh, Wow" and "Far Out" crowd with underclocking and overclocking and a combo of undervolting and overvolting and all combinations in between, nobody had an answer. Hah!
Well... believe it or not, I still have my N7100, and rooted on stock 4.4.2 (the late and great last rom from Sham-sung) and I fixed my audio problem a long time ago... after buying all of the "Pro" apps that were supposed to "cure" the audio problems.
Not ONE of them actually cured anything, but actually created a ton of other problems like caller's voices echoing back at them while talking to me.
I guess that's "technology" for 'ya... give it enough time, and all things are swept under the rug... with the new phones having all the same problems and still no answers or cures for the problem at hand.
As an aside... does anybody here remember the film, Mommy Dearest?
Remember that scene where Joan Crawford freaks out over wire coat hangers and beats the crap outta her daughter for having them in her closet?
That's the way I am now with rear-facing speakers.
No more low-volume crap with rear-facing speakers and multiple microphones for regular calls or speaker phone.
Nope, no way.
Anyway, long story short... there's another thread about Mic-Gain on this site that actually made it so that if I use Speakerphone, the other person can actually hear me.
Unfortunately, everybody in Wal-Mart can hear my convo over the rear facing speaker.
Register 21 is now open.
i have the same problem, i cant find the file

I also want this to happen
I think it's a hardware failure because when I raise the volume all the way up my ear literally explodes
I don't know exactly but maybe it depends on your network provider?

Yes, it may be a hardware defect or maybe the grate is dirty.
Still, how can we raise the volume?
I know there is one way thru the hidden menu, but not sure on the details.
I think it's not a hardware failure, but maybe the grail is dirty i don't know, but still I hope that someone has a solution to crack the volume up... A booster app or something in the system files. Anyone ?

Alsa mixer will not work on this device....:crying:
Alsamixer works on my 4x. I can increase loudness of main speaker. And it is crucial to make radio work on our phone
That is wierd. I m on stock 20b software but the app emty when I open it.... I can install the files but thats it...
I have a similar issue with out-going volume being too low when wearing headphones.
If youre like me and you like listening to your music with good headphones and want to feel that bass rumble in your head, you might have noticed that with the update to 6.0 (In my case to B565) the output volume might have gone down considerably and that now the max volume isnt just enough to make you eargasm. So i researched a lot and found out that the max volume settings are set in some .xml files located in /etc and /system/etc but the thing is that with huawei phones we dont just have to edit a single .xml file to raise our max volume, we have to edit a whole crap ton of them depending on our region, vendor, model etc.... So instead of having to open all those files and edit just the correct string, i found out that AlsaMixer (Available on google play) works just fine with out devices!! I also found out that the max output on 6.0 is stuck at 80% dont know why.
So, to get your 20% of max volume up, all you have to do is open AlsaMixer (or all those other .xml files if you like doing things the hard way ) and edit the lines:
-HISSC_SMT_HSL_GAIN (this is left headphone gain)
-HISSC_SMT_HSR_GAIN (this is right headphone gain)
Their default value will be 12, just go ahead and set that value to 15 which is the max value and enjoy your new volume
NOTE: There are tons of other strings you can edit to increase output of speaker, earpiece, etc...etc... but since I didnt need to increase these I didnt take the time to find out their variables, but if youre interested on increasing the speaker volume just open the .xml files and go to speaker and find the gain variable and change it with Alsa.
Hope I made your day

You might be able to do that with Tasker or a similar app. ALSA is only in charge of the sound.
tested and working good. only thing i noticed is that after i modify the value it wont save for the next time i use the player so i have to edit and apply again.

So looking into AlsaMixer, this is an app for a rooted device. Is there any alternative methods? I just got my phone finally back up and going again after an IMEI loss and am a little scared to do anything further in the system like that.
Also the fact that the description on AlsaMixer doesn't say anything about supporting MM... Has the had any issues for you?

I dont think there are any other *effective* methods out there that dont imply rooting your device or something of that behaviour sorry. And yes it does support it, at least for me even though it says nothing.
Not a worry... I'll just have to build the courage up to rootmy device :/ ah well. Thanks for responding so soon

Exactly, you have to find the string for the speaker. (Be careful though because you could cause damage to the speaker)

You solved what? We already know about dolby atmos, but this is different.
Yes Dolby Atmos gets a little better sound quality than stock. But it doesnt boost output volume in any way or form. For that the only thing that works is editing the ALSA setting but for the speaker I dont know which string you have to edit because as i said im not interested in listening music through my phone speaker, i was just interested in boosting the volume from the headphones which I thought were too low. Anyhow I discourage everyone who wants to boost their speaker higher than stock, as this phones speaker sounds pretty high, even too high sometimes and you could risk damaging the speaker or braking it.

is it even possible to boost without root? i guess not. but app can probably deliver higher sound.
for root users theres usually a xml file in system/etc i can't tell which one it is since i'm first time huawei user but if u got root why not use viper4android it boosts the volume like
I would like to boost the volume only for my headphones. Which xml files should I edit? I am thinking of using a file explorer to edit the values on OP for this.
Thanks in advance.
Use the playback music controls xposed module. Its awesome and you can also change tracks using volume buttons if you like. The autoplay option is in the settings.
I've found out how to boosz permanently, I guess... System/etc/audio/hissc/mixer_paths_ALICE.xml
Open it with a text editor, and change HISSC_SMT_HSL_GAIN + HISSC_SMT_HSR_GAIN from 12 to 15.
