Hey there!
I am really happy with my htc one! Especially the speakers are great!
There is one thing that bugs me though: when I call somebody and I decide to talk on speakers- I experience really bad sound from the usually great boomsound speakers... There is even no beats logo in the notification bar.
It sounds like my old Gnex while in call on speaker.
Anybody else experience this? Will this be fixed soon?
Greetings

Are you on a custom rom? That might also explain why. And on custom roms with the 1.29 build, HTC neutered the max volume a bit.

Here we go again! If people are happy with their phones and try to defend it against trolls they're fanboys??
So they suck?? Name one phone with better speakers for speakerphone calls released within the last 3 months? You can't because there aren't any.
And who are "they" exactly and where are these quotes?? I haven't read one single claim from HTC saying their speakers don't suck, or that they are so loud, even the haters will love them.
The speakers have excellent sound and are very very loud.
Does anyone else notice that if you cover the rear microphone while talking on the phone (I do it everytime I'm holding the phone with my left shoulder), the person you are talking to hears a really bad echo and cant hear what i'm saying??
I really hope there is a fix for this cause I hold my phone like that a lot lol

1- Watch that your pinky finger doesn't accidentally move over the microphone while you're holding it.
2- Check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2262648
I currently have the team at HTC interested in this. The problem is their noise cancellation may be picking up your voice for just a moment while you switch ears, or move... then for up to 30 seconds, your voice is considered "background noise" and is filtered out mostly.
This frequency cut gives the impression that you're far away or in a tunnel. I'll update the main thread when I hear back definitively what their findings were, and if there will be a fix.
Workaround for now, is talk very consistently (don't alter volumes) and watch your positioning; don't talk to where the back of the phone could pick you up.
So with 4.2.2 are you guys facing a problem with call quality? I can't hear a dam thing on a phone call. The Voice is muffled and it crackles too.
What do you guys think?

Yup, ARHD 10.0. Dirty flash from 9.4. The call quality isn't great.
Is there a way to check if HD calling is actually working? It is in the build.prop!

No idea. Anyone any clue on this?
I have noticed that if you have a background breeze or it is windy the call quality drops massively. It is reproducible by blowing on the mic near the camera... Ear piece goes very odd (breaks up/drops out) after that, recovers quickly though. The same doesn't happen if you blow the bottom mike!
Okay this issue has become really annoying. I dont think its the hardware but anyone facing this issue resolved it? The callers voice keeps fluctuating and times it just goes off. Sometimes if i dont hold the phone very close to my cheek the callers cant even hear me.
Yea this is really annoying. Tried loads of different ROMs and call quality remains terrible, all muffled and unclear. Way worse than my old Desire HD.
Anyone?

Thanks for the post! I already had the same radio installed but I re-flashed it using this anyway. I tested the call quality once again, it's difficult to tell but there does seem to be some improvement, but it still doesn't sound as good as previous phones, or "crystal clear" like it should be according to many people. I will have to wait until I get a chance to properly test out a full conversation tomorrow and see if the voice is clearer.
Thanks again!
Has anyone else tried flashing this radio?

I did test the radio for like two calls. It seems like there is an improvement but I need some more time to evaluate. The microphone is the same if I don't stick the phone to my cheek people can't hear me properly. They say it feels like I'm talking from 10 feet away.

I found this YouTube review.
Sorry I can't post links, being a new user! But search "HTC One In-depth Review And User Experience" into YouTube, it's the video by Uoobe Vid, and skip to 13:06
This is how mine now sounds after the radio update. Is it not really as clear as it should be for a high-spec phone or is it just me? Calls are clearer on my friend's LG and cousins iPhone 5.
It has definately improved from before though.

Arzin, have you tried switch to speaker phone and back to handset a call? I've never had this, people have always said they can hear me fine, clear as normal. It could be the noise canceling at the back mistaking your voice for background noise when you don't hold the phone to your cheek.
So trying to compare headphones on my new moto x and ive discovered the moto x is actually the cause of my poor audio quality. It seems to produce deep bass but vocals are extremely hard to hear and the highs are also drowned out.
Compared with my galaxy s4 which seems to produce great sound across the curve.
Anyone else notice this from their moto x?
I'm using the Sol headphones I ordered with it and my Ultimate ears.
I've also tried eq setting but doesn't seems to help much

Well, i read somewhere that, its got to do with the DAC (Digital to Analog/Audio converter) on the moto x processor. It isn't that good compared to chips in S4 (Snapdragon 600) or Nexus5 (Snapdragon 800). So the audio quality won't change with any amount of soft settings as the hardware itself is weak.

IMO, it's the stupid "Audio Effects" app. It's turned on to some "3D surround" mode by default. If you just turn that entire thing off, it sounds much better.

Did it ever open for you? You're going to Settings>sound>audio effects right?
Are you on the stock rom? and 4.2 or 4.4?
I had the S4 and one of the major reasons for returning it was the audio quality, even with the "sound match" thing. ( I forgot what it's called, but its that thing where it plays a bunch of faint beeps and you have to keep tapping the screen)
