I've been trying to copy directly an MKV file from windows 7 to the downloads directory on the kindle fire hd.
The file is 5.8 gigs and I have plenty of room on the device..however towards the very end it gives me a message
saying it cant copy do i want to skip it. Is this because the device isnt rooted. I have sideloaded an android app
onto the device that can play MKV files directly and I didnt want to have to convert the MKV file which will take
2 hours...not sure i want to root it either..as many are reporting problems with it right now....
Rooting went great, I did the step by step method. The problems come in because others are changing or deleting files they are not completely sure what all is running with the file. If you root you won't be disappointed. I like my rooted kindle fire hd, it's like the best of both worlds now.

Chances are it's because the file system is fat32 which can't support files that big.... your Windows file system is probably ntfs...
I think the biggest file you can have in fat32 is 4.3gb or so
FYI, there are no fat32 partitions on the KFHD (probably not the KF2 either). Post #2 below...

I stand corrected. I didn't own the device, was just speculating.
Perhaps it's going to sleep before the file finishes copying and it's causing an error?
No actually just tried it twice and both times it failed...I was asking because maybe the kindle fire hd unrooted will not allow this file extension to be copied to it...was my thought....but some are saying it is a size constraint. Just not sure

I keep having problems with File Manager HD, and it has pissed me off pretty bad this time. I was working with my SD card, and had copied the entire contents to my internal memory. I played around with it on my PC, then popped it back into my Xoom. Used it normally for a day. Downloaded files to it, copy and paste a few files, etc. At the end of the day I decided to copy my files back over. Did a multi select on my files, chose move, then paste in the external folder. The paste took about a half second. So I noticed my 6GB of files were replaced with the file names with 0.0k for the file sizes. I looked in the original location and they're gone. I shut down and booted to see no change. This isn't the first time it has done this, but definitely the first time moving a file over about 20k. Am I alone with these problems? I have never had that happen with Root Explorer or Androzip. Seems like some junky software to me.
You HAVE to copy and paste. You can't move files from one source to another. Otherwise the corruption happens.
I use Root Explorer and never have issues. Best money ever spent. That file manager is nice but I still prefer RE. Thanks for the heads up.

I would assume the devs have tries to be clever and copied the files then delete the original. I'm pretty sure the mv command would fail without data loss like that. Sounds like a poorly implemented file manager without the necessary failsafes for this sort of thing.

LEGAL NOTICE: In order to do this, you must A) Own any type of SONY Manufactured console able to run PS1 games and B) Own a physical copy of the game.
All credit for this guide goes here:

***Edited for HC, psx4droid no longer exist and does not work for HC 3.2
IT WORKS! IT RUNS SMOOTH! The trickiest part was to extract the files properly, but that was my fault for being cocky.
Also, be sure to, in the settings>audio active spu something.
1) Download the Required Files
Purchase and download FPse App in the Market.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.emulator.fpse
PSX ROMs can be found here
http://www.emuparadise.me/Sony_Playstation_ISOs/2
Visit http://www.underground-gamer.com/wiki/index.php/ECM on your computer and download ECM for Windows.
Mac users can go directly to http://www.neillcorlett.com/ecm/ instead, and grab the GUI port for Mac OS X.
In Windows, extract unecm.exe from the downloaded ecm100.zip archive to the same folder that you keep your ROMs in. Both WinZip and WinRAR are excellent choices for unpacking compressed archives.
2) Extract and Rename the ECM ROM
Now you need to extract a file called data.bin.ecm that is located inside each of your compressed PlayStation ROMs that needs to be converted.
This part is a bit tricky, since the .ecm file usually is stored in a compressed archive inside the original ZIP-file. For example, the archive Silent Hill (USA) (v1.1).zip contains a folder, and inside that folder is another compressed archive titled Silent Hill (USA) (v1.1).7z. Hence, you first have to extract the .7z file, before you can extract data.bin.ecm that is stored within Silent Hill (USA) (v1.1).7z.
Extract the compressed archive located inside the ZIP-file
When you finally have extracted the file data.bin.ecm, rename it to the title of the game it contains. In my Silent Hill example above, I would rename it Silent.Hill.ecm.
3) Convert Your ECM ROMs
Now it’s time for some classic drag & drop: in the Windows File Explorer, grab your extracted .ecm ROM with the mouse pointer and simply drop it on unecm.exe. This will launch a command prompt. Wait while the converter does its thing. It may take a while.
Classic Windows drag & drop: grab the ROM and drop it on unecm.exe
Classic Windows drag & drop: grab the ECM file and drop it on unecm.exe
The ECM ROM converter working its magic
You should now have a set of files similar to those in my screen shot below. The converted ROM will probably not have a file extension, so add .bin at the end of the file name. In my case, I call it Silent.Hill.bin.
All the extracted, converted and renamed files
4) Download the BIOS and Copy the Files to Your SD Card
Download scph1001.bin from here: http://www.emuparadise.org/biosfiles/PSX_Bios_SCPH1001.zip
This is the PSX bios and the emulator needs it in order to run.
Create a new folder on your SD card, extract and copy scph1001.bin and all of your converted ROMs in the BIN format to it.
Pull out your SD Card and place it back into the tablet
Press Menu > Settings > System>BIOS Loading and locate scph1001.bin on your SD card.
You’ll be prompted by FPse to find a ROM, and now you’re ready to rock. Sweet PlayStation gaming nostalgia will ensue!
Thanks for the great write up!
Does this work with the analogue sticks on the classic Wiimote (using Wiimote controller IME)?
Nice.
But I find that most the roms available are either .iso .bin or .img files so theres no need for conversions.
But good heads up on those that are!
ps3 controller
anybody get ps3 controller working with sixaxis program?
do you need genuine sony controller or can you use off brand?
thanks.
both psx4droid and Fpse seem to freeze at the worst time. Anyone running honeystreak should save as often as possible. All 3 FF's (7,8,&9) have all froze on me. The lockups/glitches are worse for me on psx4droid (using the 3.0.7beta). Fpse has a horrible UI, but has only locked up on me 3 times in the week I've had it.

Hi all,
I just started playing with my Nexus over the last couple of days. Using Astro I made some directories in /storage/sdcard0. When I mount the Nexus onto my Windows 7 laptop I don't see the directories created using Astro. Anyone experience this? If so, any idea how to get everything to appear?
Thanks,
-Gary
Try rebooting the tablet.

Same issue here. In order to see the files I've dropped onto the tablet, I have to use a file explorer. Bummed I can't drop epubs into an eBook folder or drop them into my Google books folder and read them in Google books.
Once I open the file in the file explorer,I can open the file with the kindle app.

I'm trying to create a folder on my N7 to use with MobileNoter. I got an app called Android File Manager and created a folder, but when I connect to my Win7 PC I see all the folders except the one I created. On the PC the folders are under "Nexus>Internal Storage" and in on the N7 AFM they are under "/storage/sdcard0".
Anybody know how to make a new folder on the N7 that I can get to on my PC? I've verified that I have the latest USB driver (mentioned in another thread) and I've rebboted
Thanks in advance for any help.

You're going to have to reboot the tablet or unplug then replug most likely. I had the same issue when managing my nandroids and a tablet reboot fixed them normally.
I believe it's an issue with the MTP protocal truthfully.

I rebooted my Nexus and I now can see the new folder in Windows Explorer (and copy files to it.) Still can't create folders however.
Same problem here. I just drop everything in the downloads folder and then move them around with root explorer
I have a Nook HD and have downloaded a file that is very large and is slowing down my device. I want to download it and I can't find the download file to even get to undownload it. I don't even know if that's where I'm supposed to go. I don't even know if I CAN undownload the file. Help? Please?
Hello,
I'm currently running Benzo Rom, for some reason whenever I create a file/folder in rootexplorer in "/sdcard" for example, I can't see it on my computer when viewing through windows explorer, but I can see it clearly on my device. What gives?
(Running Windows 7)
.....
PC driver in Windows 10 not signed.
I faced the same issue. I found the reason as MTP bug. Anyways rename the file to something else(change a letter or so) later it should display in windows.

I should clarify that I am on windows 7, not 10. Also How does renaming the file to something else fix it? That doesn't solve the issue if I have to rename a new file/folder every single time I create it..

I've ran into the same situation, both for files I've created and for files created by an app and the only way I've been able to see them on my computer is to either rename them or move them to a different directory. Sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear but I haven't figured out or heard of any other solution.
