GMail 4.2 sync probs - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to install the new GMail apk. basically the installation worked, but when the app starts a screen comes up the account isn't synchronized. both options (sync now and change sync settings) wont work.. any ideas?

I am having the same problem. I tried to install GoogleLoginService.apk but I got "app not installed “ error message.

Are you rooted? Do you have googleframeworks installed? Gmail isn't going to run without the proper google services.
What version of GoogleLoginService are you running? 4.0.3 - 4.0.4 or earlier?

also, googleloginservice.apk will not work properly unless put in system/app folder with perm. Rw-r--r--

I'm rooted for sure, everything else works fine. Seems like I missed to download and install the googleloginservice.apk (I got the framework already running because I installed the gapps as described by stopxwatch). tried to install it by moving it into the system/app folder but the installation wont work at all. it starts but leaves it unfinished after some seconds.

ok, finally I got the googleloginservice running by using the one form the caynogen 9 gapps zip. it's version 4.0.3. the gmail sync probs are still there. maybe the device wont work with this 4.2 version at all.

ok, moved back one step and uninstalled the 4.2, rebvootet and installed the 4.1.x via play store. seems to ork perfectly.

Yes, you needed to use all the files provided by stopxwatch and complete the process before you can upgrade to 4.0.3-4; otherwise everything will break. I tried it before.

Apps won't install since frf83 update

Since I've updated from modaco's frf72 r18 rom to the latest r19 rom I can't install any apps... not just from the market, but directly from my sd too.
I ideally would like to go back to the stock rom with no mods.

I have factory reset/wiped and reverted to the FRF83 stock rom - and now the majority of apps install. The only apps that won't install are Google apps - like Google Sky Map and Google Earth, and the Mod Install Location app which I really need. Any explanation for this?
I've been having random issues running the same ROM but only apps I try to install from the Market. They'll download then just sit there. Sometimes they will install and sometimes they won't.

I've been getting the exact same thing on FRF50, FRF72 and now FRF83!
I can manually install from SDcard 'Download' when the Market install process stalls after download, but this obviously doesn't then update the app status on Market 'My Downloads'.
I've done the usual clear data form the Market app, reboot & login method to no avail. Very frustrating
Any ideas much appreciated!
This happens to me with apps from my SD card too.

[Q] Duplicate Provider Authority

Rooted 1.0.1 BN with AutoNooter 2.12.25 installed.
I changed "ro.build.version.sdk" 8 thinking it would let me install Market 2.2.7. M2.2.7 works great. I tried to update my GMail 1.3 to the latest in GMail on Market. Got the Duplicate Provider Authority error. I did back up the GMail 1.3 with Titanium but know it won't restore.
So: I have no GMail at all now; and cannot find a GMail 2.X for eclair in english (several chinese ones outthere).
Any ideas?
Hi there. I was having the same issue. What i did was
1. Download the signed Gapps.zip from here forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=642189 its in the second post.
2. Use Root Explorer. Went into system/app and deleted Gmail.apk and GmailProvider.apk
3. Now from the zip file you downloaded. Extract the Gmail.apk and GmailProvider.apk. Using root explorer. Copy those files into system/app
4. Reboot your nook and you should have Gmail again.
Make sure you back everything up as always.
It worked for me. Hope it works for you as well.

New Google Music App Won't Install

I just got my Google Music invite and I'm in the process of uploading my library. While I was waiting I tried to install the Google Music app on my N1. It downloads, then tries to install itself and then I get the message Installation unsuccessful. Application cannot be installed in the default install location. My phone is completely stock. Not rooted or anything. It's running 2.3.4 GRJ22 with Launcher Pro. What's going on here?

It probably needs to be installed in /system/apps which is where the original is located. Without it coming to you from Google Ota, I am not sure how to move the file without root.
I wonder why it would be available to download from the market if that was the case.
Just give it a few tries. Mine is installed in /data, and it works fine...
Make sure that your default install location is set to internal or automatic (I think that is an option with stock Gingerbread). I remember reading that this failed if you had it set to install things to external.

Do you know where I find this option? I didn't see anything.

I was thinking this was also in a stock install. I guess it is a CyanogenMod only thing. I'd guess this isn't your problem if you don't even have the option to change.
Good. I noticed you found the other post that I had seen about this. (I had the hardest time trying to find that, because I wanted to reference it for this thread.)
But for others, plug your phone into the usb and make sure you have adb set up (this isn't the place for a tutorial, there are lots that can be found through google). And make sure USB Debugging is turned on. Then enter this command on your computer.
Code:
adb shell pm setInstallLocation 0

Thanks Rod3, I was having the same problem not being able to install from the market. As it turns out I had my Installation Location set to "External". After changing the setting to "Internal", Google Music was able to install.
I'm using CM7.

Sorta fixed. RR 23 came out...that was an easy flash. . . It has newer play shop.. . But that really didn't help...still couldn't install but the error message was different: something about can't install with this user account. .
However the RR post had a link to a cwm zip with new Google maps - worked! Here is the link:

Small help with Swype Keyboard

I just installed the Utaka PA on my Note and for some reason the default keyboard is not working.
So basically i can not input any data. Here comes the problem when I want to install Swype
1. I can not go into browser and type anything .. so I can not install Swype from browser
2. I can not get into google play store as my gmail ID is still not configured on it now
3. I can not push app form Play store on PC for Reason 2
3. I can not install the apk directly as there is no default explorer application
I have the apk file with me and also placed it in the download folder. Since this is an apk and not a ZIP file, I can not install it from the recovery mode too.
Can someone help me and give me an option that works with my present situation please.
Thanks in advance.
Send the file to your mobile through bluetooth and so u could see a notification something like "file recieved"
Click on it and i guess the app gets installed
Hope it works
Make sure the" unknown sources" in the settings is ticked
