cheers, is it tmobile locked and branded?
It is locked to the T-Mobile network (If I insert a GiffGaff SIM, it says invalid SIM and asks for code) and there are no other CSCs available by default, but there is no branding to the handset itself apart from a little 'Lte' logo on the back cover

1.) NO
2.) NO
3.) Official only the second, but in my Phone (N7100) both SIM Cards worked 3G
ATTENTION: The Adapter takes quite a lot of space, thats why I changed to the GMate+ from MAGICSIM. Here a small review in german. Works great for me and provides REAL DUAL SIM!
Both mine also work on 3G also. I believe the new Magicsim Elite range allow both SIMs to use 3G, 4G, LTE etc

I have heard that the SIM in Gmate Plus does not support 3g data, is that true ?
If true, then are there any chances of Gmate plus supporting 3g in the near future ?

If you didn't buy you GNII already, I'd suggest you to wait for the GT-N7102:
http://translate.google.com/transla...phones/galaxy-note/galaxy-note/GT-N7102RWDCHN
It supports 2 SIMs (regular & Micro) in Dual Standby mode !
Looks like both SIMs are 3G enabled, as it says here: http://whatswithjeff.com/samsung-galaxy-note-2-dual-sim/
Should be available around 12/3 !
Almost perfect
N7102 has no DC HSPA+
Whereas a Gmate & a N7105 would give a remote sim for Tex/calls on gmate & in the phone a 3G DCHSPA+ & if needed 4G
What we need is an LTE N7102 & with google services on it out of the box.

I can't think of a reason why that would matter unless it was built into a specific tray, but it doesn't look like this is. sim cards aren't device specific, they follow a standard. I have no experience with trying to use multiple sim so I can't give any advice on an adapter. Have you tried with another device/sim? Maybe it doesn't fit in the tray/slot well.

Mayne you are right.
I want dual sim for my nexus also, but not found this type item in local market.
Ebay india have higher price, so I can't purchase it.
maybe the problem lies with the software.
Suppose the adapter can be built in and is compatible, maybe it's still necessary to activate dual sim functionality within the ROM... (I don't know how, so don't ask.)
If you succeed, please write a tutorial.
i think it can't work if the radio don't support dual sim.
The n6p has a hidden second sim slot but it don't work beaucuse the radio don't support it
Yes this works fine
Hi - I have dual SIM on my Nexus 5x, though only one SIM can be active at once.
IMPORTANT: If there's an "iPhone 4S" or similar option in the SIM Toolkit setup menu, this must be disabled!!! Most adapters I've seen come with this option active as default so make sure to check!
I have T-Mobile and Verizon SIMs though the Verizon one is LTE-only because the SIM adapter inhibits CDMA (thus data-only with no calls or SMS as VoLTE probably won't work either) ... nevertheless one must use LTE/CDMA radio mode for Verizon to work.
With two GSM SIMs it'll probably work easier. Though, in my experience T-Mobile VoLTE and WiFi calling don't work either...but SMS, GSM/WCDMA 3G/2G calling, and LTE data including band 12 and 13 works perfectly.
But otherwise this absolutely works just fine...if you have the adapter inserted properly the Nexus will load the SIM Toolkit app after a minute or so. With the stock ROM you may need to reboot between switching. With Pure Nexus ROM, all one must do is a toggle of airplane mode twice, manual network type selection if needed (LTE/GSM or LTE/CDMA in my case) and the following build.prop edit and it'll switch without reboot:
persist.radio.apm_sim_not_pwdn=0
My YouTube video above will show this. Tasker can be used to automate all steps and network mode can be changed in the task with GravityBox and Xposed. Good luck!

I don't have my Nexus 5x anymore but as I recall you have to match the shape of the dual SIM adapter cut to the SIM's diagonal edge on the metallic side and then flip the ribbon cable around the back side of the SIM tray and back out the SIM tray port along the non-metallic side of the SIM. Good luck!
Hi

Nope that is not possible coz of firmware specifics and hardware mismatch. You would be bricking your $900 device by doing that

Sorry but your totally incorrect.
You can flash F firmware on an FD and vice versa. I did it lots of times on my dual sim note 7 and s8 plus as well as flashing FD firmware on my single sim s7 edge
To put it bluntly the dual sim and single sim firmware are the same thing and can be cross flashed without issue.
That said if you have a single sim device and think flashing dual sim firmware will give you dual sim capability you are very technically challenged lol.

They're not 'the same thing' or you wouldn't see any difference from flashing one or the other. However, you are right that you can use either one on either device (including N firmware on the F/FD devices and vice versa as they are all physically the same components).
If you are already rooted, the only thing you would need to do to swap to dual sim is buy the dual sim tray (I think they have some on ebay now), and replace your existing lib-sec-ril files under /system/lib and /system/lib64 with those from the dual sim model, as well as add the dsds RIL file if it is missing (my 950N didn't have it). The lib-sec-ril file seems to ignore your build.prop setting as mine is set to ss (single SIM) and swapping to the 950 FD RIL library automatically switched my phone to dual-SIM mode upon bootup.
Hey Guys
For now i am not rooted on my Note 8 just wanted to know if this would work. To bad no one has tryed before i searched also for some S8 Threads etc. The Problem is there is no SIM Tray from the DUOS
Version available to buy. At least i haven't found one yet. That was my intention to test this out i think that would help many people out there.
UPDATE:
Great thanks for the Tip i searched now in Ebay.com there are some Dual Sim Note 8 Sim slots available from china. I will order some and than i hope there is some more Custom Roms out and maybe some tutorial available

Won't be possible.
Even if you get the SIM tray and pop 2 SIMs into the phone, the board is different, the EFS partition is different and there is only one IMEI on the N950F whereas the DS model has 2 IMEIs.

Alot has changed, some good...some bad lol
Any news on it?
Someone mentioned he tested with dual sim tray, he changed the sim card to another slot, it's working.
Probably, the hardware is totally same,
I remember there is some dual-sim version, but same model SM-N950F in some country.

Probably, firmware will check the model and pop up the sim card management
it's not as easy as just popping in a dual tray and 2 sims, I've tried it, with sim in tray 2 it looks like connected to network but does not receive calls, you would need to find out how to either enable second imei if it is already there or apply one, and DON'T just use the same for both sim slots if you like your phone, not in Europe anyway

I can't that 100% that it WILL happen but it is definitely a big risk as it could look to the network providers that 2 different numbers are using same IMEI and then automatically get blocked, ALL EU mobile service providers share the information so even if you used sim cards from different providers you could see the imei blocked within a few days

Greece Cosmote might not be included in the partnership between the mobile service providers, there is a reason the dual sim phones have 2 imei numbers, I'm sure you can make it work but why run the risk and use same imei when you can buy an old phone for at tenner and use the imei from that

Number means IMEI,
I asked same question today, they said it's much easier to copy the number from sim 1 to sim 2, they probably can finish the job in 30 mins.
So far they can NOT assign a different number to sim 2 only, if you need different number for sim 2, they need connect to some box and some server to register the number first, could be 3 days.
The BIG issue is both the number of SIM 1 and SIM 2 will be changed, so you will lose the warranty.
And the second way needs more money, would be five times or more.

Hi,
can anyone let me know how does it exactly work with dual sim? I read in the internet about dual stand by and I understand the principles but most of the explanations say that when I use 2G/3G data connection in Sim1, the other sim will not be reachable. Is this also same for 4G?
Thanks.

Yes, same for 4G; however, there is an option to auto-route calls from you 1st sim, to the 2nd sim and vice versa

P20 Pro can manage 2 sim card at the same time and also in 4G. This is true for CALLS and SMS.
Obviously for tha DATA part you can use one SIM at a time (you can choose from menu which one you want).
Infact if you think at you home internet connection, your home router/modem can connect with one privider at a time. If you have 2 provider you must have 2 modem connected at a router capable to bilance the throughput.

Both.
I'm just about to put a 2nd sim (different provider) into my phone, however it's not clear from menu options on how to choose which SIM to run for data.
My location is a bit dodgy for data speeds and whilst ok for being out of the house, at home it would be nice to choose another provider sim to use.
Sorry, i realise i must be thick.
Can anyone provide the steps?

So I have the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 512 GB, I was having trouble today activating it, but an online rep helped me get the phone working with Sprint. However, the phone will not stay connected to Sprint. When I boot the phone then will work as normal for five minutes but after that, I will get the invalid sim error and all network services will just disconnect. I took the phone to a Sprint store and the rep switched out the sim for a*known working sim, but that didn't work. The rep suggested I call Samsung and get the phone replaced, but before I do that I wanted to know if anyone else is having similar issues.

-Thanks,
P.S. I also want to add the when the phone does reboot I'm getting the sim card is locked. Then everything in my OP happens.

Did they give you a BYOD SIM? That's what you should have gotten for an unlocked phone.

I'm not too sure, I'm assuming they have some idea what they are doing, however, assuming makes a donkey out of some people. How would I know the difference between a BYOD Sim and the one I have?

You would have had to pay $10 for BYOD. I had sprint send me 2 wrong SIMS for phones and it would say invalid sim. The BYOD also usually comes in a pack with 3 different types. If the SIM they gave you was just a single SIM on a credit card sized card its likely not BYOD. Those sims are for sprint phones BYOD sims are required for unlocked phones. If you went in and said you need a SIM for a Note 9 they may have assumed you had a sprint one.

This is what it looks like of you buy it from best buy. I know it says boost but it's the BYOD for all 3 Sprint carriers (Boost Vigrin and Sprint)

I'm using SIMOLW406TQ.
Sent from my SM-N960U1 using Tapatalk
where did you buy the phone?
The problem is fixed. Went into a Sprint store and got them to pop in a BYOD sim and everything is working.

That's correct. Maybe they were thinking all the Notes are the same. They also did note charge me for the sim since it was such a cluster.

I currently on T-Mobile and have a dual SIM Samsung S8+. I am thinking for going to change my service to Google Fi as I travel overseas. Google Fi has a great price for Data Roaming which is charged the same as at home. The issue is that I need a dual SIM phone. I do not like to swap my SIM cards as I almost lost one while changing. Currently Google Fi list LG V35 as a Google Fi phone. I am wondering if anyone here is using LG V40 on Google Fi. I noticed on Gsmarena that LG V40 has a dual SIM version. I am thinking of getting one and use it on Google Fi.
BTW. I do know that my S8+ can work on Google Fi but it would not have the Google VPN and network switching functions on Google Fi.
Waiting for the same.... dual sim version of V40 was mentioned few times here and there but nothing official yet!
I believe every variant is a dual-sim variant. The T-Mobile variant I purchased is working just fine with T-Mobile in the primary slot and Sprint in the secondary.
Granted, I had to buy it outright and call in for an unlock after 40 days.
IMEI Question
The issue is that I am on T-Mobile and would like to switch to Google Fi. I sure would like to get an unlock version if all versions are Dual SIM. Having a combo SIM slot does not mean it is dual SIM. Does your T-Mobile version has 2 IMEIs? Are you using your T-Mobile version with T-Mobile and Sprint services or using Google Fi service?

So your T-mobile LG V40 support dual sims!?
That would be quite interesting!

I'd really love to see a screenshot. All signs point to the US version being single-sim.

Yeah my Sprint Variant is Single Sim, and that I'm aware of Sprint won't activate a T-Mobile phone let alone a GSM phone until they are officially one company...

Iphone XS in the States has only one SIM but due to a built-in eSIM, it could have 2 lines on that phone. Just wishful thinking that we could do the same on LG. I wonder if LG V40 would support eSIM?
i was reading somewere...there is active dual sim with dedicated memory card slot (triple slot 2 for sim & 1 for mmc)...is it true...???
root
Hi,
Do you think that the V40 dualsim version could be rooted?
From my knowledge the G family with dual sim option could not be rooted, V30 could be rooted
Any confirmation?
Thnaks for your help

The one that's just released in Europe has got exactly that, dual SIM + hybrid SD card slot. I'm confirming that because I had the V40 in my hand yesterday and the tray inside it is one of those dual SIM SD card hybrid ones.
It's so hard to find dual-sim info on this LG V40. Does the V405QA7 (US Unlocked) and/or V405TAB (T-Mobile) have dual-sim dual standby?
