Can this be done? The ROM would work like a charm on our phone. Seriously, the look with the speed and power would make many download it if it is ported! Hope that this ROM will be running on our OB one day!

Why do you want it? If you want the android look, take any ROM and you ll have it If you want the iTRASHbox look just look for themes of it, or take MIUI, it already looks pretty much like iOS I think.

I've used MIUI and JOY OS to the max and customised MIUI as well. I personally think this ROM has much accurate detailing and would appreciate Your help porting it. You may hate iOS; others may not. Its a matter of choice. So help if You want to or just leave it aside.

I dont object what You say about Android, but many people around the world including me admire the elegant look of the iOS. Even though the parts of it are rip-offs of Android, yet they look beautiful and sleek. Just makin a point here.

Apple is good with UI there no arguing there ( some of androids stuff also come from iOS , they're both playing the game)
I still prefer Android's UI and after my exam finished I committed myself to quite a few other projects amongst them porting Flyme OS ( which looks AWESOME ).
If you want to work on porting a ROM or learn to start by learning the basics of android. Cooking, modding, fixing etc. In porting you need programming to fix some bugs and possibly to get it booting. Java is a easy language and has similar syntax to C/C++ and will make it slightly easier to learn later on ( You'll probably need to modify the kernel so you'll need C ) . Python is a really good language to start in since its very simply, straightforward and works on Windows and Linux since it's a interpreted language. ( Its my favorite language )

Another point. Is it possible to get the iOS style 4 digit unlock for MIUI or any other ROM? I guess its there in Gooapple ROM! Maybe atleast that can be ported right?

Good news everyone, I was about to get my hands dirty and try to port CM but happens that a fellow portuguese who is in CM team received a Black from LG and is already porting it!
He's very knowledgeable and it should be fast. Hopefully the port can be merged without breaking other devices (if this happens it'll be official and we'll have nightlies). Otherwise, well, I hope he releases it anyway or at least sends me the device folder so I can.
Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGoVy4tQki0
We can also see here that he has a .35 kernel which probably the only way to have gotten it is with gingerbread. I guess what I'm trying to say here is, LG probably also gave him 2.3 sources, so the update should also be near.
Since I prefer AOSP to CM, when it's out I'll also use his device folder and port to a clean AOSP-ish ROM.

This is awesome news, Knzo thanks for getting development started on this phone, will you work with the caynogen team to get some of your tweaks included?
About time... glad it's happening. Knzo is ecstatic for sure. Nova 2.3 atlast. haha. Will wait for the nightly builds.
I wonder if LG asked for help regarding Gingerbread. So they could finally have official. LOL
Yeeeeeeees. I'm looking forward to this

No, this is a one-man-job and he's much more skilled than I am. Remember I'm not even a computer engineer; my field is the brain, not computers, I do this as a hobby.
Probably if CM comes out, Nova will cease to exist. I'll only work on a good kernel and perhaps a clean AOSP-ish ROM based on CM device source and CAF.
I already sent him PM asking if he was kind enough to share it, we'll see what he replies.

Tks for ur contribution to all the users of Optimus Black.
Love it.
Another reason not to leave the OB
Hi Guyz
I like playing with custom roms & mods recently i use optimus one than Defy i enjoy both of them than i got OB i bought this just bocz its low cost with high specs but after entering to OB thread i saw that there is not much dev here for our OB and very few custom roms available for us after spending 2mnth my favorite rom & his maker lives his job i m taking about Knzo i m really so now i m got offer from 1 person on net to exchange his galaxy s i9000 with my OB so i need some advice from all of u guyz what should i do?
Thanks for ur valuable time for reading & helping me
I really don`t think that guy offerd you his galaxy S for your OB just because OB doesn`t have so much dev support, I think he did it just because OB it`s a better device and in a short matter of time will get much more custom roms than we have right now. we almost have CM 7.1 working now....I`m using it as my daily use right now and it`s awsome. be patient, OB will be a great phone
I used to have a galaxy s i9000 and i was pretty happy, but i know this same feeling is approaching to our LG OPTIMUS BLACK...and i can barely wait for mui roms, cm7 roms...and later on gingerbread update so....stay tuned....
the best for the patience one
just wait for the complete CM7
I have this phone and Samsung Galaxy S2 although GS2 beats it in every test
some odd reason I prefer the Optimus Black and it will be so much better with Gingerbread so my advise is be patient like the rest of us
I think you shoul keep OB it's great and have so many native features that you don't need to download this and that to make those things [i.e. screen shot] even the factory rom, kernel, etc, are good I don't have any of those just rooted it and works pretty awesome actually
If you love to play with roms I think you better go with Google phones like the Nexus ones. Otherwise, keep the OB.
Hey, be patient, wait stable and fast CM release
Yesterday I find a way to take 3500+ in quadrant It is a very nice score. OB look very nice, and has a briliant display, anything is good.
Thanks to all of u guyz today i found a Chinese website over there i found many custom roms for OB i m downloading now lets see how its works

I hope this will change with Nexus Prime

You really think you are all high and mighty now huh? I've taken a look at your posts before and after you made your kernel, and let me tell you something: there is a big difference in the attitude of the posts. It's like the fact that you have developed something gave you a sense of authority. There is no excuse for you to be disrespectful.
Are you bored to death? No one asked you to post here. No one asked for your opinion. If you are bored, leave. I am not a fan of themed roms, but your posts just sicken me.
Its looks good, but a few advises to convey
1) Name the thread "[ROM] Spring Rom [GB 2.3.3 v20c]"- This would look more formal and attractive
2) Add more info about the mods & tweaks you implemented
3) Don't listen or care for anyone who criticizes
I guess you have used Zeam (One of my favourite Launchers)
and also i love the default GB settings icons
I couldn't say that i will try it, sorry because i'm more into graphical customisations. But would like to advice every stock GB lover to use this ROM

First of all a superb effort on this one Anil
Havent replied on xda since a long time...but somehow had that urge to test something new and so tried this one.... And yes rightfully said... amongst all the High Fi stuff of 2.3.7 and ICS, somehow the stability is being overlooked as nightlies have come into picture.... almost every other day we have the beta updates of tons of ROMs... most of those being just the customisations of the major ones... The actualy ones are just three... LOL the ICS port, CM7.2 nighlies and the Oxygen port.... So many versions and so less to try...
Maybe im being old school but i liked the development when the REAL devs published something...that too taking their own time...coming up with REAL updates and not just simple things like fixed headset icon etc.. Mik, Knzo, Franco, Andy....miss their work dearly....and at the same time i do appreciate the efforts of the new frotiers like Popdog and the other guys developing on P500...!!!
To sum it up id say, Good work done to provide just the nessesary customisations and at the same time keeping the ROM stock..... I am using it since a few hours now and everything seems to be working well.. No bugs or performance lags...would report aout the battery in maybe a day or so..
P.s.: Modification, be it of a line or an entire re-write of a code is still a modification. So unless he's asking u for paying his internet bills, stop criticizing each and everything around u.. He didnt steal ur code or modification did he..?? Its sometimes good to just avoid trolling where u are not needed

Stupid question, but I'm curious about it... Is someone trying to build a custom rom or nothing is moving underneath? Is it more difficult with this phone than with other, like RAZR M that has already several roms available?
Thank you.
AW: Custom Roms?
Hey there.
There are custom ROMs from papi32 (MIUI and AMBP or something like that, but based on Android 4.0.4 ICS) and some other guys trying to port cm10. And hazou builds his own kernel and successfully boot it. You can follow this thread for more information http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121213.
And yes it's very difficult to build/port custom ROMs to our device, because it has a x86 Intel atom processor. Most smartphones have ARM processors, so port ROMs from other devices is as difficult as try to port Android to normal computers.
But I think we will have custom roms, you just have to wait.

It's difficult because of the lack of source from Motorola (they released the strict minimum) and some particular implementations made by Motorola. Not because it's a x86 SoC....

I cant agree in complete with your post - you can use a lot of the precompiled modules from the 4.1.2 rom - if you do not use a newer kernel provided at sourceforge.
The reason is imho - there is no dev out there with an razr i and the time to build the dev tree and toolchain...

You right. The time to do it seems to be the major issue for the few dev that try it.
We don't need an army of devs (there's plenty of device with great customs rom thanks to only one or two great devs)... We just need someone that can figure it out and have the time (and of course the device) to go further into the job.
I'm totally sure that once will have a first release (even a pre-alpha roms like cm10.x) things will go faster
Okay, so it's clear that we all want development on our phone, but it's tedious and most of us do not have the knowledge to do it. Still, what can we commoners do to enforce development? should we contact motorola and spam them until they give out more code/assistance? Should we donate to the Liquid Smooth guys? look to hire someone?

maybe some has contact to quarx and can convince him to help. he is a xda-dev who really did magic with motorola phones even with an unlockable bootloader. (i know all the other moto phones aren't x86).
I had a defy+ before this phone and quarx is a freaking legend.

I really hope so!
I'd be careful about "hiring" someone. I saw the HTC Flyer guys get hosed when they collected a bounty for someone.
Hopefully the LiquidSmooth guys can figure it out. They haven't updated us on any progress, so I don't know what's going on, but they seem like a legit group. There's also the guys trying to port CM10. Progress is happening on that, but it's going slow because they don't have a lot of free time on their hands.

Did it. I Flashed it, and it's really cool. I suggest to test it. Thank you very much.

Well, ICS november build with no update, and full of bugs...
Not really what I am looking for
the nexus rom 4 are all the same. why? I know it is easier to develop cm10.1 but make an effort to do something more original.

There are many rom are not all alike!
This OP holds no dev value and is only an end user's rant because they are too lazy to try or develop their own ROM and would rather have devs spoon feed them what they want.
A prime example of the "entitlement" mentality....
IB4L
What you are looking for is difference in UI, underneath and in the settings the ROMs are very different. Use a theme like the S4 theme for CM if you are that bothered about the look, but I like the stock interface #IB4L
Sent from my CM10.1 Nexus 4
OP, Sir sounds like you need to learn to cook your own ROMs....
This Community in the Nexus just say "Thanks" to the work being done, and Sir you should do the same. If you do not like the great work being done, well stay Stock and enjoy.
