Can this be done? The ROM would work like a charm on our phone. Seriously, the look with the speed and power would make many download it if it is ported! Hope that this ROM will be running on our OB one day!

Why do you want it? If you want the android look, take any ROM and you ll have it If you want the iTRASHbox look just look for themes of it, or take MIUI, it already looks pretty much like iOS I think.

I've used MIUI and JOY OS to the max and customised MIUI as well. I personally think this ROM has much accurate detailing and would appreciate Your help porting it. You may hate iOS; others may not. Its a matter of choice. So help if You want to or just leave it aside.

I dont object what You say about Android, but many people around the world including me admire the elegant look of the iOS. Even though the parts of it are rip-offs of Android, yet they look beautiful and sleek. Just makin a point here.

Apple is good with UI there no arguing there ( some of androids stuff also come from iOS , they're both playing the game)
I still prefer Android's UI and after my exam finished I committed myself to quite a few other projects amongst them porting Flyme OS ( which looks AWESOME ).
If you want to work on porting a ROM or learn to start by learning the basics of android. Cooking, modding, fixing etc. In porting you need programming to fix some bugs and possibly to get it booting. Java is a easy language and has similar syntax to C/C++ and will make it slightly easier to learn later on ( You'll probably need to modify the kernel so you'll need C ) . Python is a really good language to start in since its very simply, straightforward and works on Windows and Linux since it's a interpreted language. ( Its my favorite language )

No dude! No coding or computer languages for me! I hope You have a change of mind and port this ROM for me
Another point. Is it possible to get the iOS style 4 digit unlock for MIUI or any other ROM? I guess its there in Gooapple ROM! Maybe atleast that can be ported right?
I am currently on RocketRom JB v3 but since this will be the final version of RocketRom, I am looking for the next best ROM. So far I know all of the buzz is between Ultimate and AllianceRom.
So I just want a feel of what the community think and I will go with the one everyone think is best.
Go buy an iphone
I think this thread will probably either fall on deaf ears or you will get lots of comments about read both ROM's threads or try both and see what you prefer. You may also get helpful comments like the 1 above.

I understand this very well and this poll was never intended to be about which rom is best for me, this poll is all about everyone here helping me decide which one to try first by sharing their thoughts on which one they think best suited them.

Ultimate, it functions best to install as alliance relies on scripting and choices made throught an app.
For cleanest install thrn only possible for Ultimate as you can format system and data and install.

Or someone send my request to joosh3, thanks.

You should make a summary of the results of the poll.
ultimate is the best TW rom so far ..nothing coms close to it ..ive tried most of the TW jb roms out there but i keep coming back to ultimate,no offense to the devs but my personal choice is ultimate
Ive tried em both, And both are extremely well crafted and run perfectly.
I wouldnt say one is better / worse than the other, they are equally as great in their own way.
The only advice I (as well as many others) can give is: Try them both ! test them for several days and see which performs better FOR YOU.
So these are the two roms that are currently popular huh? Thanks for helping to reduce my reading time. I'm surprised Ultimate is a bit popular than Alliance. But this is good to know.

Thanks for your input, I actually tried Alliance first but for some reason I couldn't get it to work, constant boot loop, spent hours trying different ways to get it work but no cigar. I am currently trying out Ultimate, I am rather happy with it. I will follow your advice and try alliance rom again but probably after a few weeks of using Ultimate.
Thanks to everyone who contributed into this, by the looks of it, both Ultimate and Alliance comes really close and it is almost split in the middle of what the community thinks.
don't compare any rom on this forum, every rom has a plus and minus, you want to know what is the best one? try it yourself, and what rom seems match for you, because if you ask people here of course they have a much reason for himself why he choose "that" rom.
Thanks.

And that is what I am after, what majority of the people think is the rom "they" like best. Maybe I shouldn't of worded it as Ultimate Vs Alliance but what I want to know is statistically which rom is most popular. If people actually read the thread they should know this is what I was after at the very beginning.
Look in the development sections and see which thread have the most replies / views, they are mainly the most popular
Some have issues with Alliance, I had some myself, frequent bootloops, sticking on GT-N7000 screen and so on, but with a bit of tinkering I fixed it.
Now im using Ultimate, and it satisfies my every need, So im sticking with it Its Fast, Stable, Smooth, Rarely gets laggy and is frequently updated which is a main USP for me, I like the fact that the Dev listens to the users and is always improving on it.
But as the rest say, just try them all.. There are some wicked AOSP ROMs out there too so dont focus all your attention on TW JB Leaks, Unless thats what you prefer ?
everyday same roms, same interface, same features (except pa) the rest are all boring kangs. I hear people say that nexus phones have tons of developing but truth is that on galaxy or htc phones you would see some cool ports, while here nothing at all.

Who wants a port? They usually suck because so many things are broken. If manufacturers didn't make all their stuff proprietary then we would see more cool roms from other phones.

whats a port have to do with developing? thats a serious kang, lol. try out different kernels too. the thing with nexus devices is that they run pure android. thats why many buy the nexus 4. no hacking needed, it runs pure android from aosp. most dont want that sense, or touchwiz, or any other of that manufacture crap. the development here comes into play by making android better. killing bugs, adding/enabling more features, etc. nobody want a port on any nexus, they want the real thing.

the fact that many things are broken does not mean that nobody wants a port. then what is all this talk going on saying nexus devices always have more developing? we have many roms and many awesome devs, but honestly 90% of the roms are exactly the same. sense amd tw users at least have an alternative when they get bored with tw or sense, they go flash a ported cm10 based rom

well you gotta have developing knowledge to port something right? kernels are absolutely the best in here! I am talking about roms...yes nexus devices are pure android experience but having an alternative wouldn't hurt.

Well they all use the same base, so 98% of the ROM is bound to be the same no matter what.
That said, Android's at a point where you can't really add that much to it anymore that's going to blow your mind, it's not like earlier Android versions where there were gaping holes that needed to be filled. Most people here seem interested in ways they can pimp their UI and post screenshots, and that makes it even worse.
I am saddened by the number of kangs and mash up ROMs however that don't bring anything unique to the table, but as someone who doesn't develop ****, I'm not one to talk.
OP thanks for sharing your opinion, instead of saying thanks for the work in development being done in this Community you say "boring"....sounds like someone should take up Developing and then provide freely to the Community as it is being done now, but never the less, thread is going no where.
Again Thanks for the opinion, Thread Closed.
Is it just me or do Roms today lack sustenance. Most Roms all just share the same features. Whether its pie, lock screen notifs, listview animation, and all do so with out functionality. The first day is fine but after that you get a framework issue. Paranoid lacks the wow factor it had with jelly bean, and cyanogen has been dry and doesn't inform people on their new features. I remember when Chevy and simply stunning came out with an animated pulldown with gingerbread. Where is the uniqueness. Im not trying to dis devs or anything im just wondering when did romming get a specific set of features that every rom must have. Please don't flame if you feel differently say so. Don't belittle.

well, if you keep following the "popular" roms, what do you expect? why do people always assume that if its a popular rom, then it has to be good? there are many more roms out there than pa or cm. look in the original dev threads(not android dev threads, since they are all just basically cm or other rom based). i gave up on popular roms like cm years ago, literally. anyways, personally, i dont look for features, so roms with many useless features are worthless to me. i want stability and speed, stuff that the popular roms lack.
and if you dont really like the selection. learn to make your own. and i dont mean learn to just put it together from other peoples patches/code, learn how to actually develop and make something new.
This has been discussed a lot of times in the galaxy nexus and nexus 4 forums. The thing with custom roms is that you will always have people asking for features (that other roms have) to be included in roms they are using, so basically you end up having most of the features everywhere.
My opinion is if someone has the tendency to get bored after a while, and has the constant itch to modify something, the nexus line is not the best choice. OEM branded devices have their corresponding software (touchwiz, sense etc...) and AOSP ports, which gives those people a wider selection. Needless to say that their AOSP builds mostly contain certain bugs, so constantly flashing fix-packs can be an additional level of excitement to please the itch :good:

OP as stated, if you or any others get bored, with the Great Work being provided here or any where on XDA, change devices or, this is a Development Site sooooo. If you feel so much, that you have to open a thread in this manner, I say: Pickup & Learn Development and then provide it here as others have and are doing freely. Functionality, well that would be something different for each Member, and last time I check these ROM's that are being shared/provided are the work of those OP's who took their time to make for themselfs, and felt they can share it here on XDA. If you find something not to your liking and or functionality, you can either move on or again make your own....or stay Stock, which there is nothing wrong with Stock.
Thanks and Thread Closed.
Lots of ROMs are being developed for our device (go devs, keep them coming), some stock, others with (new) features.
Is there a place where we can compare these ROMs based on their features?
Scanning all the threads, doesn't really give a clear view.
I know the best way to know what a ROM is all about is to actually try it, but a comparison chart would provide a nice shortlist to start from.
Read the op of each rom thread? Usually tells you the features.

I guess if someone had time they could do this for the more popular ROMs

Some do this better than others. Many make you go to their website & click around till you find something. Others list a bunch of stuff that many of us have no idea what most of them do. So a thread / wiki that gives the character & main features in a simplified way would be very helpful and welcome.
As great as the idea seems. Making a wiki or a video for a rom gets outdated quick. Roms and kernels are always changing day by day, new features are being added and removed.
The best advice I can give you is that, download the roms that interest you. If they interest you, flash them and give them a try for 10-15 minutes without installing all of your apps. If you happen to not like the rom, simply do a nandroid restore to a previous backup.
The roms in original development tend to make their own code and development tends to kang code (use code from others).
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Time sure is a factor. And agreed, ROMs and their features could change fairly quick.
Trail and error (so to speak) would still be the best way. As a new Nexus user I'm not familiar with the "popular" ROMs and their devs, so it's pretty overwhelming with all those ROMs to choose from.
If only there was a uniform way to setup the OP for each ROM on XDA.
Thanks for chiming in guys!

One of the ways you can see if a ROM is popular is by the number of posts and views in that thread as well as how active it is. Some of the roms have YouTube videos for the kit kat version or even lollipop so that can give you a jist of the rom.

Yeah, I usually skimmed the threads on number of views.
It now brought me to Pure Shamu. Seems to be one of the most popular ones at the moment.
I'm gonna follow that thread and in a week or so I'll give it a whirl. It has some mods I'm looking for, like clock and battery icon mods.
