I'm downloading rootfs.img right now but its very slow. Can anyone provide a mirror or url for downloading with download managers?
Awesome; so this is a native method for running Ubuntu on the Nexus 7? No VNC or emulation, or running on top of Android? And this does wipe out Android?
This is native, done by a canonical developer. Works surprisingly well on my 8gb. Not super fast but I can browse etc. They keyboard needs work.

Might give it a go in the near future; I have a somewhat decent desktop just sitting doing nothing, looks like it could use some Ubuntu.
now lets talk about dualbooting......if its possible, is it?

If anyone eventually gets a hold of the img's and can host them for us non-Ubuntu users that would be fantastic.. I might take the gamble of pushing them over without the help of an installer and see what happens. :good:
Any chance I can install it using a virtualboxed ubuntu ?
What does this do to recovery? Does it wipe anything from that section?

Need a non ubuntu way to install - i.e. a ubuntu user to cache the img files that are needed for a fastboot update so that Mac or Windows users can install via the SDK. Does anyone have image yet ?

Only thing that I'm worried about is I saw a screen shot asking if you have a 16GB or 8GB Nexus 7.. I own a 32GB. Does this re-partition out your storage or something? It seems like the only logical reason why the installer would care about what version you are installing it on. Makes me wonder if fastbooting over the images without the installer would even work at this point.

After flashing it my sdcard got formatted. But I accidentally flashed the broken rootfs.img so I'm not sure if its my fault or ubuntu formats sdcard everytime.

Nope. CWM still intact.
I don't think I've been this excited with this tablet as I am now! I've been waiting for any Linux or webOS since I got it (1st batch of ebuyer here ).

Hi there . I have some questions.1) is this rom prerooted?
2) is safestrap needed to install this ? or can you just install from external sd card.?
3)does anything NOT work?
4) would you consider it a daily driver? or alpha or beta?

The first 2 aren't even questions about his ROM... and daily driver status is up to the user not the developer. Do you know what alpha and beta tests mean exactly?

Well first off it is debloated, took away carrier symbol in the top left corner, runs 4.2 launcher, runs 4.1.2 gapps, zip aligns on boot, new boot animation, and more changes will come this is the BETA release. Still (in my opinion) good enough for a daily driver, but I WANT to make some more changes. Please people do not ask me how good my rom is, I made the thing, I'm probably a little bias.
thanks, but I guess I can't install it, 'cause of Safestrap needs a device with root access and I lost that access in the last update to JB

I have a Vivid that has been "abandoned" since I got my GS4. I did like that phone, but didn't do much after rooting (still stock ROM, I believe). I still have my unlock code bin file and would like to get this device up and running again after I get a new battery. Is your utility something that I could use to update my device?

It is a normal image, not a zip. Flash using fastboot. Looks like N5 and N4 merged image from google website, clear, untouched. Works like a cherm for me!
internal memory such as picture and document will be lost?
if you dont want to loose everything you need to delete the data partition from the occam-krt16s.zip in the tar.gz file!
EDIT: will make a second version for users which dont like to loose data stuff
EDIT 2: building a new aosp libart atm to get whatsapp and so on fixed ...

Is it hard to integrate .sh file with ROM? I am still experiencing issues with WiFi connection at home. I have TP-Link TL-WDR4300 and since I got my Nexus 4, it always had some issues with connecting to WiFi. Some ROMs have the newer driver integrated but Google still uses old one. Here is the link to newer binary, but it is hard to integrate it. Even on rooted phone. :/

Nice work man!
As you reffer to the rom like a alternative factory image. Just some noob question:
I need to root to flash that rom? Or I can install it throw adb just like a normal google release?
Can relock my bootloader after the process is done?
Do you think I will get OTA updates from google after flashing that rom?

Do you have a build with the most recent ColorOS 4.3. I'm curious because I'll be looking to port out the framework and whatnot for the 50mpx camera app on the Find 7.
Is there a certain recovery you have to use cause it's failing for me. I'll try to write what the fail part is.

I hope to not touch 4.3 at all after this is done and move onto 4.4 firmwares right away; 4.1-4,3 is mostly the same, but 4.4 is very significant and is much better for a lot of reasons.
I'm pretty much at the point now where if I'm source-building 4.3 for this device I'm doing it for every device I maintain with these custom firmware ports; I can't justify 4.3 at all since MIUI is almost 4.4 for the 'general population'
Edit: On some devices it actually is, I won't do it until it's pushed to MiCode though

Im not sure about Beanstalk cause that's based on 4.4 so "should" work. This is based on 4.2 so it needs the older Twrp

You can edit the updscript to remove the device lines too but i didnt bother and kept it stock
can I instal it on OTA 9.30.1 locked bootloader
Hi it seems that the 926 topic is a bit more active , yea so I wanted to ask you guys, if it's possible to root the device, i tried with tons of methods of JB or SuperSU flashing and that stuff, the su binary gets deleted i think each time by the Color's OS kernel maybe
I'm using the CWM recovery, btw I tried also with the TWRP recovery
Edit 1: it works now, cause i found this, thanks

What works?
Bluetooth, Wifi, Sound, Codecs, Sensors, Graphics.
What does not work?
If you toggle Bluetooth, it will not work... Camera does not work (never really tried).. mtp server
Note: SailFish 1.0 is meant for phones... Keyboard orientation is wrong in most apps. Just an FYI. Don't gripe.
username: root password: root
RNDIS is currently how I am transferring data to the device.
sudo ifconfig usb0 192.168.2.2
192.168.2.1 port 2323 for telnet or port 22 for ssh
Or use the ip address via wifi.
Orientation: Go to Settings, Display, and set the Orientation for Landscape, if you like. SailFish does not support Landscape in "lipstick" but 2.0 should support that as they are releasing the Jolla Tablet and it looks like it is Landscape.
Copying Media:
Login as root and set a password for nemo, login as nemo. Copy files to your folder (ie Videos\Jolla) and chown the files for nemo.
You MUST install the CM-11 ROM that goes with SailFish.
Both Kernels for CM11 and SailFish have been compressed with XZ.
I use ClockWorkMod that supports /data/media roms.
CM11 https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0ERXWZfh_RJQzJENjVxQUxha00/view?usp=sharing
SailFish 1.1.4.28 https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0ERXWZfh_RJdENKY25ieGFHME0/view?usp=sharing
(If you disable system.mount and create your own /system folder that contains the CM11 rom, then you could use another rom of your choice in your cm-system partition)
Thanks to : WillCast (castrwilliam), JCSullins, Invisiblek, FlintMan, stskeeps, locusf, sledges, Nokius, MSameer, vgrade and Mal.
Jolla Store: Not enabled until Jolla wants to enable it.
Try the Open Repo WareHouse Store:
https://openrepos.net/content/basil/warehouse-sailfishos Copy the rpm to the device and install it via rpm.
One day jolla might enable the store, for the touchpad... rom needs to be tested.
Interesting. Curiois for more
Mmmm sailfish and systemd!

Hey J, how's it coming along? Super stoked to drive this once it's ready!
Status Update
Graphics are now stable, and we are using hwcomposer now instead of fbdev.
That is great. Wifi works... I am using the 3.0 kernel.. 3.4 would work as well... but for now I am staying on 3.0. Plus the backlight is better.
Working out orientation issues. I got half of it to be right..
SailFish OS 2.0 actually supports Landscape but it is not realeased yet.. And it will be running on the jolla tablet.
Instead of buying a jolla tablet.....
Orientation is working, so is Sound and Pulse through libhybris and droid-sinc instead of using the ucm files without pulse.. Which probably would not fly with sailfish without pulse...
I tried to use pulse with the ucm files, only seems to work without pulse and just alsa.. sure would like to know why, but oh well.. hybris works...
Orientation is in landscape.. kinda strange, I think it would be better in SFOS 2.0 which should be out soon. Had to edit a QML file.
Video Acceleration is now working
Sweet. So is audio.
Anyone want to play with it? I wasn't going to upload anything until SFOS 2.0 (where the orientation is actually right) But if someone wants to play, I will upload something.
No long winded posts for now. So don't except to see anything for about a month regarding Sail Fish 2.0

It downloads for a minute or so, then dies as "unsuccessful".
Can you upload to a mirror somewhere?
It works for me, except after installing zypper and rebooting it just gives me a black screen.

OK, got the files, flashed CM11, then Sailfish. Got the new boot menu entry, but after selecting it I get a "BOOT FAILED!" message. Tried several times, same result
I have it working again now, I wonder if we can fix keyboard issues with tweaking its qml files.

So as I haven't yet, thank you for this. I haven't used my tablet much since I lost my Nexus 7(2012) and gained my LG G3. But with Jolla Sailfish OS I've found new life. Really this is the perfect Linux based mobile OS. I just wish Ubuntu touch was this stable on here. I'm installing so many developer tools and porting my code like crazy! Again thank you!!!
