Hi, just today I received the official update to Android 4.1.2, and thinking it might actually be a good thing I updated it (oh silly me).
So, update went ok and... I absolutely HATED it.
Is there any way I can go back to my previous Android version? Which I believe was either 4.0.3 or 4.0.4.
Any help would be appreciated.
Whats wrong with 4.1.2 ?

Indeed, what could be so bad?
I wouldn't know where to start. The Lock Screen now has new icons for sound/vibrate and a new horrible distorted font for the time. Which is, you know, allright, I can get past that. Right on my Home Screen they changed several widgets - to worse - like the google search toolbar and the calendar, the ones I use the most. The calendar no longer has the option to display a tiny calendar instead of displaying my next events.
What else can I say? The interface in general has gotten a lot worse - and I don't just say this as a spoiled consumer but as a programmer. Lots of new icons are now much much uglier than before, and some almost seem like they were from a previous version instead of a new upgraded one (like the On/Off swich). Some applications are so bad I'm embarassed FOR them, like the new People application. It used to be pretty, dark background, contacts' pictures displayed nicely, etc... now its a white and baby-blue almost "metro" style app, contacts' pictures distorted... so disapointing. Looks like something someone did it as their fisrt android application and Google by mistake put it here.
Some new stuff that I didn't care about - new app for managing Files, but I already had QuickOffice, so it's just a waste of space.
When you slide the notification bar it now dims the screen progressively - also didn't care for that, I kinda liked the way it used to be.
The new Galery IMHO is SO much worse than the other one. I liked having the little bar in the bottom of the screen to fast foward through the pictures, now I don't have it anymore.
After all of this I have avoided using my phone at all. But the one thing I can not get past is the new keyboard. I have absolutely NO idea how this one is so ****ty. I used to type everything so fast and it would autocorrect me (and correct to the right words) and the prediction system was awesome too. Now I just get autocorrected into some weird acronyms that have NO meaning at least in the language I'm using them, like BWM, TR, etc etc... So I have to type every word like 3 times until I can finally get it right.

Well, maybe it is...
People who don't have it already should upgrade with caution...
I want to downgrade too, I'm on Vodafone France 4.1.2, and I need to return to 4.0.4 Telcel Mexico, for warranty purposes, my phone speakers are useless now and I need a exchange or a new phone.

Having just come from the JB is out thread and the grumbling there I can't help but think you might be right. I have Jellybean on a Nexus 7 and aren't very excited about what it might bring to my Razr i? I'm on GB retail and may stick with ICS - more so as doubt there would be any backtracking? Not like ICS is bad anyway on the razr i. Only lag I get is with the circles widget, which I quite like. Use Nova and the lag disappears, as does the circles widget

Really? I do use the Circles widgets (also one of my favorites) and I haveno lag at all (now on JB and before on ICS).
Although I have noticed the battery is not lasting quite as much as it used to. Might update that list on why I hate JB.

hey simbad im from mexico too. in my case i killed my razr i going to ics telcel. i tooked it to telcel center. but i will be charged some money cause of the bootloader unlocked. but this monday will be shipped back to me. right now theres no way to go back to ics from jb so i guess we have to wait a little til some one knows how. good luck with ur i.
i'm at jelly bean retail brazil now, but every time i try to downgrade to ICS I had soft bricks because i'm only flashing recovery and system via fastboot, but im getting stuck at the bootloader unlocked sign... ideas? I think that the motobp and boot images are responsible of the hardbrick, maybe?

Is it lag - what happens is I either unlock the phone or during use I drop back to desktop and the desktop takes a second or two to rebuild. I have the circles widget, rain alarm pro and UK weather widget running out first page. Not a deal breaker though.

Definitely not with an locked BL. You'll get some nice "preflash validation Errors" while flashing the Boot.img and other files.

Currently my RAZR xt890 is running stock Jelly Bean 4.1.2. It is pretty fast and responsive with very good battery life, so question is why you modifing your Motos now? what is an advantage?
Thanks

Well,
The ringtone problem, even if its a problem, just open a music player and put it like a ringtone
Settings? Come on, its the most stock based settings, you see touchwiz? Sense? Only xperia has the same light custom settings.
The power control on the left its a very good idea, for normal people who never gonna know what is "root" or "launcher" its very practice
I only complain about split the signal bar and 3G/hdspa+ icons on status bar, thats all

custom themes are ok... I don't like it... but it's not a big problem
If you're gonna change something that's already working, at least do it right, why create a whole new section about sound/notifications if it doesn't work?
Power control widget does the same and doesn't take a whole screen.. I like it when I first see it.... then after 2 weeks I saw it was useless

Your phone needs to be rooted for that.
If you don't have a rooted device and you dont want to root it, you could try the following apps:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.calsto.omega.statusbar&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.firezenk.ssb&hl=en
I used these apps till I rooted my phone, then I started using the xposed mode which is way better.
Omega and Super Status Bar will take some time to start up after you turn on device, till then, you'll see your old status bar.

Well, today I do not feel like explaining what is. Simply read what a xposed modules (& xposed framework too) is & what you can do with them. If you think that is just one bkg app running, I assume you don't know what those are. So, read a little more (& learn more) & you will realize that xframework is a all new world of possibilities. Have fun learning new stuff & have a nice day

If your problem is about the battery, I can tell you that xpsd framework & xposd mods maybe drain your battery only 0,0000001%. A lot of other apps that you have running on background or not sucks even more, so...Use what you think is better for you & have a nice day
I made this post to let everyone share his impression about the long waited android 4.3 To our beloved phones T/TX/V
share your thoughts =)
and Gratz lets w8 for our last hope the Kitkat =D
Update
after flashing the usa FTF i just used my mobile for 10mins and seriously i got a new mobile now! nicely done by Sony
Smooth and Graphic is eye blessing just gotta w8 till get rooted and get the smaller navigation bar cuz this one is kinda too big
i love the call animation too It`s a new phone now =) Gratz to everyone
Tx Owner
First we won't get kitkat and in March our 18 months are over and Sony has yet made it to get itself out of having to give us kitkat...
Now 4.3. I don't know I expected more. SP got the gloves mode for example and I don't know whether it is just the Vodafone version why aren't we getting an update center?
The cam looks good but lacks of functionality, for example the tap to focus and make picture is gone and the auto mode being chosen every time I open the app is not really optimal.
The lockscreen is a bit rudimentary but we all knew that before yes we got widgets but honestly what do they offer if I have to watch out not opening Walkman or when swiping left and right. Better optional app buttons and to have them on the lower screen half.
Then the Docomo status bar better than what we had before but definitely many steps behind other uis in that case.
Worst for me is that the buttons for navigation are almost third of the screen... Would it kill Sony to make that customizable?
My main parts I'm not yet updating and waiting for the modders to do their best
My Impression
It snappy ,looks nice ram usages is poor I don't know about battery life yet , sound quality seems to be enhanced :louder ,deeper bass, higher treble all round improvement P.S. for those who don't know first start up will be a tad laggy
Rep
It feels much faster than 4.1.2. I love the lockscreen and the design

Stamina mode and camera
- Stamina mode looks like its 2 versions back. It lacks of customization which is in SP and Z series. Besides the (inaccurate) timer there is nothing new. That mode was previously in 4.1.2 just now it looks better.
- Camera - first impression is that it makes better pictures in low light conditions but I cant find settings in menu for resolution and quality - itll be nice if someone tell me where it is.

I passionately hate the current Xperia lock screen. While I like using other lockscreens, sometimes the default lock screen over-rides it anyway, I think when memory is low. I know I can use a pin, pattern, etc, but I want to be able to look at my phone for a very few short seconds without all the fiddling. Worst Xperia lock screen yet. Even the X10 lock screen was better.

this may sound like a weird question, but help would be appreciated. i just got the turbo. i upgraded from a droid RAZR Maxx and not the new one the one from 2011 XT912 so the latest non rooted OS i had was JB i think. i rooted my phone and was using CM11 and it was awesome. but now i am using unrooted 4.4.4 and it is not awesome. first why is it a non stock thing to not be able to change quick setting tiles. that just is dumb. and why cant i add fonts? anyways i digress. the real question i have is when i hold down the home button a half circle thing pops up with a magnifying glass in the center. is there a way to add to this quick action bar items or is it strictly a search button when you hold down home.

Check out Power Toggles from Play Store. Super customizable, only downside is it needs a notification icon to remain pinned to top of pull down.
Thanks i am using power toggles. mine was more of a question to learn exactly what i can and cannot do with locked down phone. some stuff just confuses me like this. they put what could be awesome things in the OS then for some reason lock it down so we cannot use. it is like here, you see this cheesecake, don't eat it.
