Download the new Nexus 4 Camera App with Sphere (Instructions now included) - Motorola Atrix HD

You need to be rooted, and know how to read the instructions in the next post to install it manually since we have yet to get a working recovery.
I installed it manually, set permissions accordingly and it works great!

HOW TO USE LINK
And for those of you too lazy to click:
"In Photo Sphere mode, you can capture the world around you: create fully immersive 360-degree shots, wide-angle scenic shots, and even what’s above and below you.
From Camera's main screen, touch the current mode icon and then the Photo Sphere icon.
An alignment box with a doughnut-shaped target appears, with the message “Align to start.”
Adjust the camera position so that the floating dot is precisely at the center of the doughnut target. It takes a few seconds for the camera to calibrate the scene as you hold the camera steady. When you succeed, a blue Shutter button with a white square appears below the image. Do not touch the button yet.
Move the camera laterally, up, or down. The alignment box and floating dot reappear. Align so that the floating dot is at the center.
When you succeed, a second image automatically appears next to the first.
Keep moving the camera, repeating the previous step, until you have photographed the entire scene you want to capture.
Touch the Shutter button to capture the Photo Sphere.
It takes a minute or two for the photo to render. You can preview it as it renders.
To view your most recent Photo Sphere, swipe left on the main camera screen, and touch the Photo Sphere icon to pan automatically through the shot. You can also drag to move through the captured scene.
To share a PhotoSphere that you're viewing in Gallery, touch the Share icon and select a sharing method."

1) Copy the MotGallery2.apk found in the "nexus_camera.rar" that you just downloaded to /system/app
2) Copy the lib files from the zip to /system/lib.
3) Then set permissions for lib files and MotGallery2.apk just like photo below:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
4) Reboot Phone.
Open up "Gallery" To use the "Sphere Camera" and click the "camera" icon in upper right of the gallery.
This will open up the camera. Then click the little camera icon in lower right, and you'll see this:
Click the Sphere icon on that bar and you'll now be able to shoot "Sphere Photos" like this:
Very easily done! Now you have the latest "Sphere Camera" from the Nexus 4

I haven't managed to get photo sphere to work properly, I don't believe it's able to read the sensors on my AHD

yeah I did this and now I dont have a gallery app...... then I restarted my phone and its soft bricked.... when I try to reflash ics I get errors because the files modified by this wont let me update...
\

ATGadmin, are you using 4.1.1 update or 4.0.4?

will wait for more tests before install.. but thanks anyway!

Doesn't work for me, it barely knows when to snap the first photo and you are awkwardly pointing it at the sky and then it never finishes rendering the first photo.

If you follow the instructions you will not have any problems. You can easily use riot browser copy the apk to the system apps and copy there 3 library files to system library. Then use build.prop editor and change your ro.product.model and ro.product.brand and it will work with no bricking. http://pastebin.com/gcHJrFQc this is a link to what to change in the build.prop

I figured how to use it, but the dot moves so slowly that it is practically unusable. I do believe it has to do with the app not properly using the sensors in the phone, because the dot moves slowly in the right direction, but not enough to match the movement of the device

Could someone please list the lib file names? In my excitement, I moved them without paying attention to the names, so I don't know which files to change permissions... I know, I know... I already Facepalmed myself a few times...

HTC Gallery (Photos) App Has Problems

I just sent the following issue to HTC support. I noticed that when I typed in the title, I got several other posts from XDA forums about the same or similar problems. So, it seems to be an ongoing HTC issue. It's not the biggest problem in the world, but I need to be able to show the pictures in a particular order - the order that I took them.
"I took a number of photos with the Vivid camera over a period of an hour and a half at several different locations. However, when I viewed them in the Gallery app that came with the phone, the images did not display in the order that I took them. I could find no way in the Gallery to sort the images by date/time. This made it difficult to communicate to others the situations and scenes I had taken. the Gallery app should display the photos in the order they were taken."
Another annoying issue is that every app that I had downloaded had it's own folder in the Gallery. I've never seen that on my other Androids. I had to go in & hide each, plus go back in anytime I download a new app = Very annoying bug!
Also, I use touchdown email. Every email I get that has a picture in the sig gets its own folder too. If I get 2 emails from John Doe with a picture in his sig, I have 2 folders, each with the same pic in it.
Another user pointed out in another thread that in the default gallery you're unable to "share" (send to fb, twitter, etc) with the default gallery too.
Got QuickPic
I installed the QuickPic app from the Market (free with no ads). It's simple but it displays the photos in the correct order.
As to the extra folders, QuickPic was also showing the same folders as the HTC Gallery. What's happening is that apps store images in various places for use by their programs. The Gallery and QuickPic by default find all folders containing images. QuickPic provides the ability to exclude a folder from displaying. Better yet, in Settings/Browser, you can select what folders to include, e.g. the DCIM folder on your external SD card. That way, you get only the photos you take with your camera. Of course, other folders can be included.
+1 QuickPic, using it for a long time, and on all my previous devices.

is there a way when you take a picture with your camera, to have the little window at the top that shows the gallery/pictures to open the quick pic app? like if I wanted to SHARE the picture or send it to FB/Twitter etc? It's a pain to take the pic, close the camera, open quick pic, navigate to the dir, find the pic, just to send it. It shouldn't be that hard.

You're still in the camera app. The earlier suggestion was to tap the thumbnail insert in the corner to open the photo. Then you can use the menu to get to the sharing option. You have to have a photo open/selected before you can share it.
no im not. its a screenshot OF my camera screen, but that is actually a picture. Guess I should have taken a screenshot of a different pic. That is in the gallery.
You seem to not be following his directions correctly. When you see the picture you want to share, tap the picture. Don't hit the menu button, just tap the picture and a different menu appears.

[Guide] Use stock Launcher with rotation

I have tried some of the custom launchers from the store but was not that impressed with them. I still like the performance of the stock launcher but I just wanted it to rotate the home screen and allow portrait or landscape mode.
Well I found out you can do just that.
You need to be rooted to do this. I am using a fully stock Nexus 7 just adding Root to it. Follow the other guides on how to do this.
Note: NEW info...
Just add the following line to the file "local.prop" located at "/data/local.prop"
If this file is missing, just create a new one. You DO need to be rooted to create or edit this file.
Use ES File Explorer, turn on Root Explorer and Mount File System in the settings.
Navigate to the folder "/data/"
Press Menu, New, File, then name it "local.prop" (without the double quotes).
Add the following line to it in the editor...
Code:
launcher.force_enable_rotation=true
Also change to Tablet UI
If you want the full tablet UI just add the following line also to this file:
Code:
qemu.sf.lcd_density=160
The qemu.sf.lcd_density overrides the setting ro.sf.lcd_density in the "build.prop" file.
Then reboot your device.
Old method
Note, this method makes it more difficult on re-installs and OTA upgrades, because typically the build.prop file is upgraded or overwritten each time also. The new method above is retained as long as you do not wipe data.
All you have to do is edit your "build.prop" file located at "/system/build.prop"
I used ES File Explorer to edit this file, just turn on Root Explorer and Mount File System in the settings.
Just add the following line at the end:
Code:
launcher.force_enable_rotation=true
Then reboot your device.
That's it! Hope this helps others.
Confirmed

AWESOME!!! When I first did it, the rotation seemed a little hiccupy. Apps in the bottom disappeared and took a few seconds to reappear, but now its working fine. How do you figure this stuff out??
Edit: The play store doesn't really seem to like it now. Keeps acting weird. It wouldn't let me go anywhere else in the store while an app was downloading. Now that the download has stopped, its not glitching out anymore. I am trying to download another app, and while its downloading, it goes back to the earlier app that I was downloading and stays there. The screen is almost pulsating. Its hard to describe.
Second Edit: I force-stopped the play store and google play services, then rebooted. The glitch with the play store is now gone. But when I rotate from portrait to landscape then back to portrait, the apps disappear for a few seconds again and then reappear. Just an FYI.
Third Edit: Lock screen doesn't rotate.
It does work! Only thing is the bar on the left side that the icons pass through.

Running stock rom, it works. Lock screen does not rotate. Does the stock launcher seem choppy or laggy when in landscape mode? Everything normal on portrait.
brilliant! worked perfect for me on rooted stock 4.1.1
should add in OP that a reboot after the launcher edit helps.

Stretch old App Screen Size (Samsung Apps not compatible with own hardware).

Hi Guys,
Wonder if anyone can help me please.. (I'll spare you the details of the paths/routes Ive taken, as it will subract you away from initial cause). However, I have tried with Xposed (App Settings), after eventually getting APKTool to work, I've tried to decompile/recompile, and although they all work/install and that, the size isn't changing...
From research, apparently our Note (N7000) uses a xhdpi on a normal screen size.
As you can see from the screenshot below, it's dwarfed in a small frame on a large screen....?? I've read that you can stretch Apps by adjusting the AndroidManifest.xml settings, but I've tried and not had any luck... So hoping someone with more experience maybe able to help?? please

Seems strange that Samsung have not tested their Apps to work fully with all their models? As you can't even download the App directly from PlayStore using the N7000. I've had to download it on my ZTE Blade (which works fine) and copy it over...
So whilst I appreciate you may not be able to distribute modified Apps publically, so if anyone can help and either PM the modified version. Or post hints/suggestions on how to make the App stretch full screen, would be most appreciated...
Many thanks, Lister
You may try to decompile the app and then edit the dimens.xml file and check.. But the AppSettings module should work. Just try lowering the screen size of the app.
Hi nokiamodeln91,
A-ha, we meet again... Thanks for your help/suggestions.... I did have a little look at this last night, and tried a variety of AndroidManifest.xml settings (previously trying mod this was a challenge, as the XML was encrypted) plus I couldnt decompile (APKTool wasnt working).
However tried various settings below... tried with all screen sizes and density, and forced xhdpi...
Not sure exactly what settings to force??
<supports-screens android:resizeable=["true"| "false"]
android:smallScreens=["true" | "false"]
android:normalScreens=["true" | "false"]
android:largeScreens=["true" | "false"]
android:xlargeScreens=["true" | "false"]
android:anyDensity=["true" | "false"]
android:requiresSmallestWidthDp="integer"
android:compatibleWidthLimitDp="integer"
android:largestWidthLimitDp="integer"/>

AppSettings didnt seem to make any effect either, and I even chose the 1280x800 and fullscreen options....
Not sure what else I can try....??
Can't believe Samsung have not tested this App with their own hardware???
Thanks, Lister

Tried to decompile and different settings but nothing much. Just the main screen stretches but then when you enter the remote, it goes back to small view. There are a lot of not so good review of the app on Samsung site itself.
Hi nokiamodeln91,
Wow, thanks man... You did better than I did.... I couldnt even get the first screen to stretch/fullscreen, let alone anything else...
What chances did ya do, to make that happen??
And yeah, not really read many of the reviews for the App yet. It's annoying, because on my old phone (ZTE Blade) it works fine, fills the screen lovely. And the App itself is actually not bad at all.. Works with my BluRay player perfectly...
However on the N7000 (which Samsung make themselves anyway) neither the phone App works to full screen, nor the Tablet version will even install...??
Is there anyway to hack the Tablet version to get that to install on our N7000?? Happy to provide the APK to that if you wish to have a play...??
Thanks, Lister

Hi @nokiamodeln91,
Sorry to bother you again, but with your knowledge in this field vaster (is that a word?) mine.... Was wondering if you was able to take a look at this file for me, and see if there was a way to make this one work on the N7000 ?? As it looks like it has the right graphics/folder layout for our device, in that it supports the XHDPI format...
http://www.sendspace.com/file/1naab7
http://www.sendspace.com/delete/1naab7/3b9aa685347a50968e2911a8dd5aad97
However it refuses to install on our device. And if manually copied onto the phone's storage (data/app or system/app) folder, it will show up as installed but when run, crashes out...
Was wondering if you knew what permission/function it is trying to pull/use to say that it can only run on Tablets. Whether this function/feature could be removed, so not dependant on Tablet hardware....
If its too much hassle, please dont worry about it... Just annoying to have a Samsung BluRay player, a Samsung phone, and a Samsung App, and it displays on our screens as though it was created for the first ever SMALL touchscreen phone... lol
Thanks, Lister
No bud. Can't get it to install. Tried a little mix N match with the phone and tab resources and smali but still can't get it to install. Sorry man. Couldn't be of much help here..
Hi @nokiamodeln91,
No worries my good friend, thank you so much for taking the time and effort to try though.... Much appreciated, as is always with your help!!!

Yes sir
Working on PA 4.45
It's not the same as OPPOs Super Zoom, the file size is actually decreased and the resolution is decreased. However noise seems to be reduced.
Auto
Clear Image
Is there a setting for Clear Image (as I can't find one) or does it take better pics automatically?
I did some small tests and I wasn't impressed, as mentioned above, file size is actually smaller than a normal picture.
I'd imagine selecting ISO100 in settings could yield better results. (During the day)
How can you tell if clear image is enabled or is it always on a as I don't see it anywhere in any options.

Press the little wand icon and enable it as a picture mode. Then swipe through the list on the viewfinder to get to it.
Edit: Further testing seems to show that all 'Clear Image' does is reduce image noise at the cost of a small bit of resolution. So it is rather aptly named, however this may also result better low light pictures. As shown below, taken under a desk.

I said noise is reduced, so our statements agree. However you have to factor in that this takes about 3.5 seconds to take a picture, but yes the pictures are impressive.
I appreciate the new mode for clearer images, I was hoping for something closer to OPPO's camera that creates a higher resolution image from multiple pictures or Sony's superior auto mode that over samples pictures to create one image

I just noticed that with the new Clear Image mode, all shots appear to be 4:3 even when my camera is set to 16:9 (9.7)
Is this just my imagination?

The Oneplus Camera take 4:3 images regardless of the mode. The preview however is 16:9

"The one thing this camera app was lacking is in the viewfinder — it's 2014 and the phone still shows a 16:9 live preview, but takes 4:3 photos. It makes composition a real hassle, and there's no option in the settings to change the viewfinder or picture aspect."

Press the little wand icon and enable it as a picture mode. Then swipe through the list on the viewfinder to get to it.

I am running it now, on a Oppo Find 7a with the latest CM nightly on it and it runs very fine, just like the previous version ..... BUT ...
I can not find the "clear image" mode in my list .... Between which modes is it ? I have 29 modes (auto,HDR,Smart scene etc ..
(and the stock camera app on the Oppo can do those High res pictures. )
How many modes do you have ?
Thanks, Sparcky
Hi,
Running crDroid v4, installed the apk and can only work for a few shots and it will revert back to stock CM11 camera. I even disable the stock cam and clear cache and data, problem still persist. AND, there's no Magic Wand to change settings to 'Clear Image'.

Check the aspect ratio. It does take 16:9 shots, just not in the new mode.

Well this NOTE 4 ain't mine and I need permission first to be able root that, then I can test further, reimplementing S-Pause and S-Scroll shouldn't be hard either, some smali work
But well, your point is good. Hehe if I get permission to root it, then ROM will be coming also with tons of unlocked content
