[Q] Can anybody tell me what region my phone is

Im desperated, I upgraded to ICS with the leaked version. Everything is fine except for the phone. Ic ant hear anything and on the other side they only hear noise... tried many things including the noise cancellation thing... nothing work.
I want to go back to GB but I dont have a backup and I dont have root either, so no CWM.
I lookes at the list of Stock GB but I cant find for my model.
Here is what I had previously before upgrading to ICS.

I believe it is N7000XXLP1... but I cant find any GB for that baseband.
I am very new at this maybe I am not looking the right thing.
Please help me I need to use my phone again

What country are you in? It really doesn't matter necessarily what you download. I'm in the United States so of course I'm not going to have one for the international note so I just used Open Germany.

I was thinking that I absolutely need to download the same as my baseband
I am just affraid to screw up

Yeah. The baseband is totally separate. That's your modem and you just have to find one that works best for you, but its separate from the ROM.

I think i am confused, that mean I could install a different modem (Phone button in ODIN) ?
Where can I get these ? peraps thats my only problem in ICS, everything is fine except the sound of the phone. Maybe I should try a different Modem before going back to GB?

Sorry, I'm confusing you.
Okay for the ROM itself: Put the file in the PDA section in Odin.
For a baseband/modem: there is a thread in the android development section with all the modems. You can download the zip and flash it in CWM. A GB modem CAN work in ICS and vice versa. I'm using LPT but it affects people differently depending on where you are.

[HELP!] Sim Card Issue

Hi everyone,
I have been running a custom GB ROM for some time, it worked perfectly this morning, made a phone call that lasted for like two mins, few hours later I get back on my phone, and it shows "Invalid SIM Card".. I tried rebooting several times, it asks for PIN Code, and then it just shows an X on the statusbar at the network service.. This is what I have tried besides rebooting the phone 9999 times:
Installing [ROM] NVFlash Opti-3D v-1.4.4 V20s Stock GB Clean CWM | UNBRICK
Installing [ROM][Stock][ICS] LG P990 Stock ICS flashable zip by harsh & tonyp (based on v28g)
Installing [NOV20][ROM][STOCK] Gueste2X "GoodBye" v2.0R - ultrasmooth [HYBRID][UNBRICK][RAMHACK]
Installing like 5 different BB's.
Installed the Euro Open original firmware from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041
Everything results in the same: Asks for PIN Code, and then an X at the network service..
Really need some help!

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I have tried my SIM Card on another phone and it worked perfectly.

Try out a different RIL.

Same issue
Strangely, I have the exactly same problem! I dont think that it's a RIL problem since other SIM card worked!
But, i'll try!

One of my customers had the same issue once and I fixed it by just fully wiping his phone and reflashing CM7. Maybe that'll resolve your problem. If not, make sure your SIM card is placed correctly in your phone. Sounds stupid but who knows..

Just so you all know, I have had this issue before too. Flashing a new baseband, a new ROM, anything with Smartflash or NVFlash will NOT help. This is the only thing that will help:

My baseband seems out of date XXJVU Baseband. With one is newer better for SlimKat Android 4.4 ?

Yes, indeed. The baseband is mainly responsible for your cell phone signal. But it depends on your region, which one's best for you. Basebands aren't usually included in the rom, so you can just go on using your current one, if you don't have any problems. I usually flash the latest stock firmware for my region before flashing the rom and then just leave the baseband. CM11 Nightly
Okay, so can anyone answer this? I've searched quite a bit and I don't have a definitive answer yet.
First off:
- I'm currently with an unlocked Bell Canada GT-I9000M (SGS) but my current carrier is Fido/Rogers.
- The current ROM is an official CM11 nightly ROM (20140513).
- I don't know what the kernel is (or that even matters). Kernel version says 3.0.101-g5fba4f [email protected] #1
My baseband is I9000XXJVT
Now for my question...
I'm finding that my reception is crummy, terrible, just plain bad. I'm losing signal all the time. Can I flash one of these modems using ODIN even though they seem to be "older" modems and CM11 is KK?
My hunch is that I can but I want to bee 100% sure before attempting this.

Well, I got ahead of myself and well, it didn't work. Good thing I had stock ready to reflash.

i want to use this rom so bad but i keep getting drops calls and i have flash radio like it says in post. "1. Download euphoria 5.1, a 5.1 set of gapps, and any radio or bootloader"
im on nexus 6 on tmobile if anyone have a fix please send me the link of the radio they using. im dying to use it.

try a different radio. there are 2 new radios, 98r and 95r. which did you flash? try the other one.

That's why I stay stock no offense to these custom Roms but I have yet to find one that is stable enough to use as a daily. IMO.

there are many that are as stable(sime even more stable) as stock. anyways, hes having an issue with reception, which has nothing to do with his rom.

I bet your having the same issue I was..... the default for the apn was metro.
Delete all the apns till you have this one left.

I'm on T-Mobile and have been getting dropped calls ever since updating to 5.1 radios. I tried them both on numerous ROMs and same thing. I even when back to stock 5.1 image and still dropped calls....really pissing me off

[RIL/BASEBAND] Possible FIX

Hi fellas
I might found something interesting, there is an app in google play called GetRIL by sibbor. According to this app my RIL and BASEBAND wasn't matching (unknown), you can choose another RIL or make it match, so now I'm testing to see any changes. Give it a shot, it may solve lot off problems ;D
On the first start this app showed that my RIL is unknown, then it matched RIL with BASEBAND but lost pin and signal problem still persisted, then I disabled this line in build.prop (ro.telephony.ril_class=X3RIL) and for now it works like a charm
This is my current result (it doesn't match because BASEBAND has another display name but its same as RIL for 100%):

I personally wasn't aware taht these RIL problems still exist for some users. For me they were fixed by installing the latest firmware update which came out only to solve these problems, that many german users had caused by changes in the O2/Eplus network, if I remember that correctly.
Tried the app too when I had these poblems, but I couldn't solve them, but I haven't used the same steps you used. Anyway, good if this can solve remaining problems

What do you mean by "For me they were fixed by installing the latest firmware update which came out only to solve these problems"?

Didn't get much attendance (no own forum thread) because it didn't affect the majority, but the complaints in KK and other threads were numerous. if you google for v20c-eur you'll find mostly german forums, but here there are some mentions about it (look at the bottom):

The update should brings some fixes, some performance and best thing it has fixed most users problems!
