[Q] Droid 3: Back to stock from Gummy ICS - Motorola Droid 3

Well, I've been searching for days and I haven't found which sbf will work, so I figured I'd just throw up a quick post. Does anyone know specifically which sbf I need to download? I haven't heard anyone using the .906 OR the .890 so I'm a little bit confused. I know theres a ton of these threads but nobody actually says they're on ICS currently.
If it matters:
Verizon model
Last Gummy update from Hashcode's ICS port back in Feb (could be more recent, but havent messed with it since then-ish)
Rooted (rofl obviously)
latest safestrap
Hopefully this can clear up any confusion on the topic. If I somehow missed this thread already being discussed, let me know and I'll delete this topic like the derp I probably am. Thanks!

what ota were you on before you installed the ics rom?
if you were on 890 then you would use the 890 sbf
if you were on 906 then you would use the 906 sbf

[Q] .906 already on replacement Droid 3, okay with ICS?

The screen backlight on my D3 took a crap so I called it in and got a replacement. To my surprise, they gave me a brand new one instead of a refurbished or "reconditioned" phone. To my *even greater* surprise, the .906 update was already installed. My question is this: do safestrap and AOSP ICS or AOKP ICS support the .906 update? Also, what do I do if something happens? I am not aware of any available SBF for the .906 system. What needs to happen for the fastboot files to be made available? Any answers are much appreciated.
Hello I don't know about ICS but I've allready updated my droid 3 too with .906 and then I install safestrap and voila I've been back to Maverick ROM(my back up)
I guess safestrap has boot my droid 3 to my back up partition. I will try installing ics on this safe system.
You have to root with the D4 root tool I believe. Other than that, IIRC, it's no different.

upgrading from 902 to 905 help please~

ok so heres the deal. i already have the file downloaded via the updater in the settings already to get installed. but i used rom toolkit to modify my status bar and install a custom bootanimation as well as a few other things like that. do i have to use rsd lite and a full 902 fxz file to do a full sweep and clean recovery before installing 905? also does it require me to uninstall safestrap? i'm not entirely sure if anyone else has answered these questions as i don't know if anyone else has done these kind of things before upgrading to 905. i plan on installing the ICS leak after installing 905 thats why i wish to know these things as i'd rather not screw up my phone after i've put so much time and effort into making it the way i want it you know? OH one other question! i know that the ICS leak is rootable does that mean safestrap is also ICS leak friendly?
I believe you should be able to just run the update and the Bionic will reboot into stock recovery. I would create a nandroid just to be safe so you can restore if something goes wrong. I read somewhere that the ICS leak requires you to eliminate safestrap though I am not sure if that is true or not.
I decidex to go thd longer safer route of rsd lol. But i rooted the leak and safestrapped it and it still works so yay!!!! Lol

So you can successfully dual boot with safe strap on the leak? Great to hear!

any way to switch lte radios?

i'm currently running the 6.16.217 ics leak on my droid 4 and was wondering if there was any way i could install the lte radio from the 6.16.215 leak over the .217's. i would just install the .215 leak, but i find that everything, but signal/data works better for me on the .217.
oh and is anyone else having problems with playing videos from veoh(.)com on the .215 or .217 leaks?
thank you in advance
englishund the answer to my question.
I'm sure there's a simpler way, but this is how i did it. I used the droid4 utility to go from .217 to .215, then i unziped the .217 fastboot file and removed the line in the .xml file that flashed the radio software and used rsd lite to flash the fastboot files over .215. Once that was done i wiped(just to be safe) and rebooted. Everything, with the exception of some websites(veoh.com), has been running well and i haven't lost signal once since then

Are you certain that there is not anther cause for this issue? If you are certain, I'd be very interested as to why this is... and whether the rest of us could benefit.
Well from what i've seen with my droid 4 and droid razr. This version of motoblur ics doesn't really play well with flash. Someone else has started a thread about this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30635637#post30635637 hope it helps? Lol

Bricked Droid Bionic!! RSD Lite wont work

Hello all, I'm not new to rooting and flashing roms but am new to the Droid Bionic. I've been doing hours of research and haven't been able to find a solution to my problem yet although it is probably here somewhere. I have a Droid Bionic and have been on Gingerbread for some time. Im not sure of the official update im on but I decided Id like to try an ics leak. The one i tried had two files: one was called SpearmintGum_targa-Release-1.2, and the other was called speargapps-ics-20120304-signed. Now i had a friend help me out and we did it together but we both failed to read the instructions saying not to reboot before installation of the 2nd package. So now i have my Droid Bionic stuck in a bootloop and nothing ive tried works. Ive tried RSD Lite to go back to stock .902 and it didnt work. I tried rebooting into stock recovery and i just dont know what to do! If there is already an answer to my question Id really appreciate to be pointed in the right direction to the thread. If anyone knows what i can do to fix id really appreciate it. Thanks in advance
Need to find out what version you're on. Settings, scroll to bottom, about phone, and get it. Also, if you're not on a later build, no reason to fxz to 902 when 905 is out. Also need RSD 5.7 and latest moto drivers. Let me know when you get all that. I'll walk you through it.

he said he gets boot loops, i'm guessing he can't get into settings, about, etc
Did you use as or BS to install? You should be able to pull battery if on BS, wipe all and restore nandroids. Otherwise post above has a valid point.

Try this:
First download an ics leak for bionic. Then RSD to .905 gingerbread. Put the ics leak on your phone and boot into stock recovery. Install the leak from there and see if your phone boots up. Wait at least 10 minutes before seeing if it failed or not.
For the record you were trying to flash a ics rom not a ics leak
All ics leaks just require to flash 1 file in stock recovery
You can try to use this script to fxz back to 905 and then try a ics leak

AND MAKE SURE YOU READ THE OP AND UNDERSTAND THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING
good luck

[Q] Getting from an early ICS leak ROM to the JB OTA?

Hi guys, my mom has the Droid 4. I initially put her on the ICS leak 6.16.208 when it first came out. When the official ICS release (I think it was .219 or something) came out in August, since the .208 leak was working fine for her, I just left her phone alone. Now I see that there's finally a JB update for the Droid 4, and I'm wondering what would be a safe way to get from the ICS leak to the JB OTA.
Would I have to get from the ICS leak to the final version of ICS first, and then update to JB? Or is there another way to go about this? I apologize for asking; I've tried to research this on my own and I just find a clutter of threads that never really seem to talk about how to get off a leaked build.
I have Safestrap Recovery v2.0.0 installed. The unsafe system is the .208 leak, and the safe system is a custom ROM she didn't end up liking (a rather buggy AOKP port), so she just runs the .208 leak all the time.
Would anyone have any insight as to how I could proceed to ultimately get onto the JB OTA? If someone could just point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
I'd probably use the Fastboot/RSD Lite method to flash the release version of ICS, and then update to JB from there. My Droid 4 on GSM thread includes a section on how to flash ICS via Fastboot.
Hopefully we'll eventually get Fastboot files to go straight to JB, but I haven't seen them yet.

Thank you so much for your fast response and for writing this guide.
So from what I understand, just fastboot to the OTA ICS and then I can get to the JB OTA from there with the update.zip, right? Will fastboot wipe my data?
Also, is that "Upgrading to Jelly Bean" going to take me to the actual official JB OTA (not a leak)? Because it looks like the link lets you download 6.16.217 which I believe is the finalized JB OTA, correct? If so, that's very exciting. I was anticipating that I would have to wait for Verizon to actually push the JB OTA to me.
Once again, thanks a lot!
This is currently a "soak test". There is a chance that problems could be found with it, though with all the previous soak tests, the official version has followed a few days later and been exactly the same.
If you want to be really sure, you should wait until someone confirms that the two are the same.
Unfortunately I cannot remember if fastboot wipes your data as I tend to wipe my data after an upgrade anyway. If you're rooted I'd suggest you run Titanium Backup to be sure.
I'll use TiBu just to be sure. I actually just read an article that the JB OTA is currently rolling out, so I guess this should be the final version. Thanks for the help!
