Hey all, got my aluminum bumper with rubber buttons in the mail today. This is the better quality one when searching ebay, they go for US $25ish and ship out of Hong Kong. I went with the "titanium" color.
You can also see my GreatShield Anti-Glare (matte) screen protector that I got from Amazon for $6.99, Its been on the phone for a couple of days and I can't stand how degraded the screen looks with it on, I do not recommend it. This screen protector does not help to see out in the sunlight, I tried it with my wife's Note-2 with no screen protector on and there was no difference. This screen protector has also picked up a few scratches or nicks. S-pen did work fine with this screen protector.
I have since picked up the MobC brand "green" packaged "Fine-Oleophobic" from Amazon for $8.99. I applied one to my wife's phone this morning and it is so far undetectable on the phone! I'll update on if this one scratches easy. The S-pen is working with it great and provides the perfect "drag" of the tip, unlike a naked screen which glided to easily in our opinion.

The fit/finish and feel of this bumper is great! If only I had this when I bought the phone! Haha with the inside of the bumper lined with rubber I'm sure it would soften the jar of a fall as well as take all the abuse as it is a bit taller front and back of the actual phone. I will do some tests with it on/off to see if it blocks my cell service any or messes with 3G/4G signal.

Yes this has been about what I see so far. WiFi at home in the farthest corner was a jump back and forth of 1-2 bars with case on, case off was 2-3 bars back and forth. IDK how to test 3g (no 4g around here). Cell service as in calling was no difference inside or outside the house. I was able to stream Pandora out in the woods with the case on so all I really care about as far as being outside. I use Wifi at home and work and those are the places I'm at 97% of the time so It looks like it will work just fine for me. If your worried about it just source a plastic bumper.
Lay your phone on a flat surface and can u let me know if the back cover and the camera touches the surface? Thanks!

Do they protect the chrome ring around the camera? Also what about the raised speaker grill on the back cover?
Kind of annoyed that those parts are raised. I am OCD about scratches haha.
BTW BestSkinsEver came out with their full body skin if anyone wanted to know. They are always legit on price and great quality and reviews.
Thanks guys!

what skin did you get? I usually get phantom skinz but they are around $25.
Xtreme guardz. They were having a sale

i bought skinomi full body skin , it was ok , precisely cut and took me more than an hour to install it.
it was completely invisible but was protecting all of the phone (front, back and those chrome sides)
however i removed it after a week to use the protective cover+ instead , it didn't add much grip to the device as well as having that awkward feeling of my phone might crack up on any impact cos it looked naked :silly:
the only annoying thing was the sides , they fit well but still u can feel them poping out on the edges , and trust me when u talk on the phone those things feel very annoying on yr ears and face..
so yeah to sum it up , it was a great skin but wasn't that suitable for my convenience
Since Xtremeguards were having sales I bought 3 front and 3 back screen protectors.
I used one on the back, then cut the front one in way that it doesn't protect the screen but only the edges of the screen ( I hate screens with screen protectors on ).
The I proceeded to cut the spared parts and used them to cover the chrome and the edges.
It's been a week now and it's working pretty good
Does your metal bumper case have a slight raise from the side to prevent scratches to both front and back especially the camera lens?
Do you think it would fit with a slim case?
Please post a link where you bought it.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago. I think the aluminium case gives good screen protection, but although it is reasonably low profile the few millimetres each side do seem to make the Note 2 feel much bigger. I personally don't think it's the most elegant case, they look OK from the front, but the back doesn't seem to follow the flow of the stock battery case too well.
Don't get me wrong, the phone fits in perfectly without any movement but not my cup of tea. I lose one bar on the phone signal when the case is on, NFC is fine.
Possibly a like or hate accessory!
Thanks for all the replies. That was my main concern. I wanted a metal bumper case that has a slight rise to protect the camera lens. I'm going to buy a ballistic 3 layer protection case since GN2 can be easily damage even at waist height drop.
Why ballistic? Because its relatively cheap, unlike otterbox and offers awesome drop protection. Had one for E4GT and money worth spending.
Thanks again.

i use that one. slight raises on the front and back to protect the camera. It adds a little weight to the phone but its not unbearable. I actually like it. I also got the armror suit military shield screen and back protector. Screen protector was not compatible with the case, cause when I removed the phone from the case, the sliding portion of the front peeled the screen protector off. and the added thickness of the armorsuit full body protector makes it very snug in the case. probably the reason why it the screen protector peeled off as I was trying to remove it.

these bumper cases, esp the metal ones.. are they easy to remove/replace? As a frequent traveler, I switch batteries every night to make sure that i'll always have a fully charged spare.. I'd hate to use the bumper case where you need a small screw to open (i think I saw a bumper case like that once).

Where'd you buy yours? I'm looking for a coffee colored metal door.
If theres any UK users in this thread that wants a black aluminium bumper for free then let me know and PM me your address. I bought one to try along with a selection of cases but am unlikely to use it. Its a great fit for the phone and is a screwless design.......the front plate slides up and snaps into place. I bought it from the link below.

I have a full body film (similar to Ghost Armour or Zagg Invisible Shield) protecting my note 2 at the moment, and though it can protect it from scratches, I know it won't survive a drop. I was wondering what is the best case I could buy to protect it from falls while still be compatible with this added film (which adds a couple mm). I was looking at the Seidio Active or the OEM Protective case plus made by Samsung themselves.
Thank you for your time!

ive got the xtremeguard skin on the back of my note 2.
the ebay heavy duty case still fits on it.
but you can always go for a tpu or aluminium bumper case. that way you can still get full body protection without the added bulk.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gray-Lux...lePhoneAccessories&hash=item484e8524a7&_uhb=1 i've got this one and its raised a bit over the back to keep your camera from rubbing against surfaces. its thicker and more durable/sturdy compared to the other aluminium bumpers ive seen.
Thanks! I am also looking for a good case and this one looks cool.

no notable signal degredation.

from this pic, it looks like the antenna is no longer in the rim of the device. instead, its on the lower back of the device near the speaker, which explains why i havent noticed any signal degredation.

And don't forget the useless plastic screen protector. Got my glacier Defender this Saturday, went through 3 at local Verizon store - all have the same problem with a gap underneath of plastic screen protector. Completely kills the experience using touch screen. Plus, s-pen left marks on the plastic screen, couldn't even wipe them off easily. The same problem described in every review on Amazon, and other forums/posts. Yes, you can punch it out (use hair dryer to soften up glue and push it out), but what a disappointment with Otterbox rushing this release. I called them up, they created a case for replacement since I was hoping their manufacturing process was corrected. But it sounds like they are having delays and I might not get a replacement in time before my 2wk store return period is over. So, I'm returning it back and will wait for Defender v2, whenever its available lol!!! Right now, the only case I'm looking forward to is UAG! But unfortunately its on back order

The glacier defender is brilliant! Yes, the screen protector sucks, but I have always been under the impression that everyone removes that and uses a stand alone screen protector.
The defender with the Zagg invisible shield hd is proving to be a perfect combination for me.

But wouldn't removing the screen protector will void the warranty? Then, if you have an issue with your case (outer rubber part or inner plastic case, interlocking tabs, etc.) - how would you send it back w/o screen protector? and if you save it and glue it back, wouldn't they notice it?

As far as I know, that is not how Otterbox does business. Mind you, I have never returned a product to them for a refund but I have had about 6 replaced over the past few years. (for different devices)
They do not require that you send the product back to them for a replacement. If you file an online claim they will ask for pictures of the case.. But by calling them to file a claim, I have never had to send pictures.
Their customer service is outstanding.
And if you've had the case for more than 6 months they are more than willing to provide a replacement.
Popping out the included screen protector doesn't rid the shell of the glue.. So if you save the protector, you could stick it on and make it look like it is still attached, if they need pictures.
I'm perfectly happy with the protection so far, getting used to the screen protector. I'm not really falling for the urban armor guard.

Thinking about going naked. Haven't found a case that keeps it slim. All cases I've tried add too much bulk.
Mine fell out of my shirt pocket on Christmas day and cracked the screen. It was $125 for a new one overnighted from CA. I had ordered a case but it hadn't arrived yet. The screen didn't come with the middle housing so you can see where it hit the ground on the plastic. I'll worry about that when its time to get rid of the phone.
Sent from my LG-VS980 using Tapatalk 2
I'm keeping screen naked. Definitely not case. Rather have a tiny bulk than 3 foot drop shatter/crack. Slim/feather doesn't even protect much. I wound up sticking with Verizon TPU/OG Incepio. Better for me my phone travels through some rough times, personal and work lol.
No way, if i didnt had a case mine would be dead right now. It felt From my ear/shoulder position when i was talking and opening my car.

Mine broke completly after falling from about 30 cm, I'm buing case for sure
This phone is too slippery without a case I'm not taking any chances with it. I have the Spigen Slim armor case with Zagg HD screen protector and it looks beautiful and feels great. I ran my G Pro naked but at least that phone was easier to grip since it was larger. To those running no screen protection good luck. It's only a matter of time before it's scratched and scuffed and ugly. The glass screen protector on my G Pro was scratched to hell after just a few weeks in my pocket and I don't stuff anything in the same pocket as my phone except for maybe paper cash or receipts. I babied that phone. My keys never shared the same pocket. I've never seen any screen stand up to regular use after a while without any sort of protection.
I'm using an xtremeguard skin and screen protector. That helps with the slippery back. Not that helpful with actual impacts, but fine for scratches and things.
Side note: use code: 90off2 for 90% off 2 or more items right now (unknown expiration). Two sets of L2 G2 skins and screen protectors comes out to $2.20 after shipping right now.
One month in naked screen. I try and be careful. Not saying it won't happen, but so far so good. I have yet to find olive I like and won't lift with TPU or bubble at edge. :/
I ordered a wallet case for my G2, but have been rocking he naked look for a month now. No complaints here, but there are moments when I need a case (at the club)

Not much added bulk and the grip is the best.

Screen seems very weak on this phone already scratched 2 of them. On my third already. No idea how first happened, had the window case on and got one dead center of the screen. Next one was from just flipping the phone over to snooze alarm on my nightstand. Keep trying screen protectors but hate the feel of them and like how this phone feels naked. Prolly gonna have to force myself to keep a screen protector on at least this time and prolly the case.

Using a Fosmon I got off ebay for 3.95. I hated the way this phone felt without a case.
I'm using the Nillkin Dolextech, and while it does not add much bulk, it will protect it from scratches and dents if it lands on a corner or back.
It also has a Nexus 5'ish feel, with a pattern on the back for better grip. It also comes with a screen protector, which while not being the best quality, is fine for protection against scratches.

Had the phone for well over a month now. No case or screen protector. Phone lives in my pocket whilst I'm at work (I work with fibreglass, resins, cardboard packing and general lifting), comes to the pub, friend's houses for drinks and shenanigans. So far so good. Still looks new.
